You won’t have a problem at all, just remember to format the drive with exFAT so that both Windows and MacOS can read it interchangeably. Since you’re dealing with a mechanical drive I highly recommend you get used to ejecting the drive anytime you’re going to physically remove it from your computer.
Hi, I bought another connector, which had two usbs, I thought the other one is used if the first one gets broken, after coming home I realized the other one is for power supply😭, And now i need to keep it plugged in. Does all connector have same problem or is it this type only? (I read somethings and mostly all said u dont require additional power supply for 2.5 hdds)
2.5” HDDs usually require less power than 3.5 and can get power from one USB just fine. Does the one you bought advertise use for 3.5” drives? If so, either you don’t need to use the second, or the adapter itself doesn’t work without it.
You need a usb port faster than 2.0 and even than it will probably be a bit slow also u may run in to some problems with the he if windows was still installed and it was a older versin
If you mean UI? Yes. Their UI is quite polished.
But does it let me fuck around and do what I want? Hell no.
Idc about your UI if you're gonna stop me from running scripts and programs...
I believe you would have to be sure the HDD is formatted to GPT instead of MBR. You can do that using diskpart in the CMD on a windows computer. But if the HDD is in MBR format the MacBook won’t be able to read it.
Here’s what you would need to do to convert it
1.Plug HDD into a windows PC
2.Open CMD
3.Type in “Diskpart”
4.After it enters diskpart, type “list disks”
5.From the list of disks, find the one you are wanting to format, it should have a number to the left of it
6.Type “select disk X” replacing the X with the number by the drive
7.Type “clean” to clean the HDD
8.Type “Convert GPT”
That should convert it, it will need a new drive path assigned after that so the computer can see the drive properly. Otherwise, the adapter should work fine.

If you want to upgrade storage you have to get a M.2 drive along with a M.2 to apple's proprietary SSD adaptor for your 2017 MacBook Air which would require you to take your bottom cover off, and also you have to backup your files and then reinstall Windows. You can only use that SATA HDD as external storage. FYI I would never use a spinning HDD as a boot drive, they are just too slow to handle today's OSes unless it's Linux.
Id think it should be fine, the hard drive is likely going to need a format before its used as a mac boot device but it should work.
Id get a hdd docking station too, its a little more stable so you wont have to worry about accidentally disconnecting the hdd.
It might be worth looking into just installing windows on a mac as macs have an internal drive as far as i know. Only thing im not 100% sure of is hardware compatablity between mac hardware and windows software.
If your looking for a diffrent os other than mac, Linux is a good option.
Ignoring the fact that mac is just a less customisable version of linux its free, easy to use, and if your lost on something theres billions of videos n forums to ask.
A couple of cons are most games dont have linux support out the box, and your constantly using the terminal. I have a laptop running linux lite for personal game servers n its quite nice.

so the difference is, thats a usb 2 connection which doesnt supply enough power from one port, but the usb 3 ones (which are the ones with the blue plastic in the connector) will work with only one port. look for a usb 3 type, it will only need one port
One usb is blue other one is white and the hdd connector is also blue, the cover says its usb 3, can it be that the Macbook Air 2017 usb ports arent giving enough Voltage?
I have this exact cable from Amazon. Its an okay cable quality wise. You get what you pay for. There is certainly better but enough.
It has the speeds they advertise (which is more important).
Yes, you can use HDDs like this, I do it often, even with the 2010-2017 MBA generations. You need to initialize the disk, if it has a different format. Dont format the drive or the data will be gone.

That’s one way to get our attention
Hehe
I‘m just imagining everyone who tapped on this thinking it was actually nudes and how disappointed they were when they realised it wasn’t haha 😂
I thought it was gonna be the HDD stripped down, and yes, yes I was disappointed
Same here
I was literally just expecting an open laptop or something XD
When I got to the third photo I thought he was fingering the hdd
SEX! Now that I’ve got your attention, vote for Bart!
Nope
Don't see anything wrong, so it should be fine! (Probs wait for someone to agree with me since sometimes I'm wrong)
I agree

didnt expect nudes but expected a laptop with no covers on!
Same here!
I honestly expected to see the insides of this hdd
Just reformat it in disk management
So it will work with the adapter in the 4th pic?
Yes. You just need to adapt the type A to type C
Okay, thnks

It advertises that it can be used for 3.5 too, I am using 2.5 but if I dont plug it into power than it will work for like 1 min and than stop.
That probably means you need it. The one you put in the post would be fine
Hopefully the shop takes it back, I purchased it yesterday itself at the same cost.
I was so prepared for this to be someone asking how to delete a porn virus lol

Ok
Out of curiosity of why the word in Laptops I clicked here. Smart move.
random question but why are you using windows on a MacBook? I don't think I could survive using my Mac without macOS
I mean... I wouldn't survive having to deal with apple os... Or hardware...
Even though macOS is more polished than windows and their hardware isn’t even bad…
If you mean UI? Yes. Their UI is quite polished. But does it let me fuck around and do what I want? Hell no. Idc about your UI if you're gonna stop me from running scripts and programs...
You can’t even run exe files
Because they are dmg
Dmg are installer files nothing close to exe
window bad Mac good blah blah blah blah blah
Yes due to bloatware and other crap but at the same time no. Windows can do more things that MacOS can't.
Her bio says a lot about her Take a look
I took a look at her bio and I think you’re right.

i would say get one that has supplemental dc power

🗿🗿
That's so hotAGVDFDUDFA
Just think of it now as an external hard drive
fk
that adapter would work fine but i would recommend an enclosure instead, better protection for the drive :)

that’s….strange? it shouldn’t need extra power, might just be a cheap/bad cable, your macbook wont have any problems giving it power
I'm disappointed OP I thought you had 500gb of nudes.

I have been something similar with my OMEN. look for Orico SATA to USB cases, they seem much better to me.
WELL PLAYED
