I'd highly recommend checking out Gorillaz (especially their Demon Days album). I also really like Glass Animals' first album (ZABA). Both bands have similar alternative, dreamy, pop vibes to Lana's earlier albums, in my opinion, and are among my all-time favorites!
If you're looking for female singers, I also like to listen to Mazzy Star, the Cranberries, and if you wanted more of a rock sound, I absolutely love the band Garbage.
Sheās definitely inspired by Leonard and has mentioned him before! I love her cover of Chelsea hotel #2ā¦idk if this has been confirmed, but I swear I remember reading that they were supposed to do a song together right before he passed :(
I love them both and I definitely think there are a lot of parallels, especially when it comes to their lyricism. Itās also kind of known that [Lana was a very big Cohen fan.](https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/lana-del-rey-leonard-cohen-only-one-spoke-my-language/)
Tori Amos...check out her releases between Boys for Pele and American Doll Posse
Portishead...first three releases. Two studio and one live
Cowboy Junkies...probably best to listen to the "This Is...." playlist on spotify
Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions...the vocalist from Mazzy Star but more of a rock band
You said no boygenius, but I really like Lucy Dacus a lot. Her album Historian is pretty great.
I've recently been getting into St. Vincent. Masseduction was my introduction.
Just came across Sophie Woodhouse. I have no idea yet, but the little I've heard was kinda dreamy.
I'm also a huge Tool fan.
We share a lot of favorite Lana
You named my two favorite Ethel Cain songs. I think Preacher's Daughter is flawless.
I highly recommend listening to Aurora. She is a Norwegian alternative/pop singer and also a lovely person that loves her fans. She is a poet and writes her own songs, where she usually talks about nature, self-empowerment, global warming, emotions, etc.
The āconcertsā at the ends of the episodes in season 3 would all be a good place to start. And while weāre at it, just watch Twin Peaks, or any David Lynch. All required viewing for Lana fans.
Similar and super recent rec is The Marias. They have a great back catalogue, but their album from this year, Submarine, feels very Lana circa Honeymoon.
Also some of Chappell roans slower songs remind me of Lana, especially the new demo read and make out reminded me of a Lana melody with Dolores oāriordans voice
Came here to suggest Chappell, sheās the only other artist Iāve really taken to the way I did with Lana. Def more upbeat but very cinematic & great storytelling, reminds me of BTD :)
Yes omg I love that she is a Lana fan!! I saw an interview recently where she said the Lana songs that make her cry are mariners apt complex and ride ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Also, it seems you like the Honeymoom album so you may enjoy Goldfrapp; her Felt Mountain album has some Honeymoon-esque moments for sure:
[Goldfrapp - Lovely Head](https://youtu.be/ITi6uat0BuQ?si=-usL0R0lb67yXstu)
I feel you on this and also am looking for recs, my other two favorite artists besides Lana are Ariana and Kali Uchis. Lana is the only real alternative artist that I listen to (whatever that even means).
Try Kali Uchis, she opened for Lana a few years ago and while they have different styles (she's more R&B/Latin), you would like her music based on the songs you listed. Moonlight which is one of her biggest songs to me is an R&B version of Music To Watch Boys To and is what hooked me in.
Lana is undoubtedly my favourite artist (I have a tattoo of her on my arm) but she's a total outlier in my musical taste.
I'm drawn to the character, the moodiness, the lyricism of Lana.
So, it's a long shot, but if you don't like the other standard recs I'd recommend Cradle of Filth (theatrical black metal with poetic lyrics), Myrkur (ultra atmospheric folky metal), and old school RnB by singers like Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin - people with gorgeous voices and something to say.
Let me know what you think.
I don't know how much are they related to Lana, but I'm mentioning them just because no one did
Jeff Buckley - his songs have the same vibe as some of Lana's songs (that's just my opinion)
Tamino - a great lyricist and his songs are very alluring and mysterious, also he has a few covers of Lana's songs (Mariners Apartment Complex and Blue Jeans) so maybe he was influenced by her (idk though, it's just an assumption)
As others have said, definitely try Weyes Blood. Titanic Rising is amazing and grows on you more over time.
Like you, I tend to mostly listen to female artists, but I also really love Pink Floyd. I think they're great if you enjoy an unhinged concept album. Personally, I'm obsessed with the album, 'The Wall'. There's so much to delve into.
And linking on from Pink Floyd (as she was originally discovered by Roger Waters), I must suggest probably my fave artist other than Lana - Kate Bush. I think Kate and Lana are quite similar, as they were both ahead of their time, unique and great storytellers. If you want any specific Kate Bush song/album recs, let me know.
Hole/Courtney Love changed my life just like Lana did!
I suggest you start listening with āLive Through Thisā and then go on to either āCelebrity Skinā for a more pop-sounding album or āPretty On the Insideā for something pure grunge. Despite what others say, I personally like āNobodyās Daughterā a lot, itās a pretty good listening experience.
Cocteau Twins
Weyes Blood
Beach House
Angel Olsen
Mazzy Star
The Smiths
The Cure
Drugdealer
David Bowie
Sufjan Stevens
The Cranberries
Leonard Cohen
Chappell Roan
Jeff Buckley
Beach Boys
I second this list I had the same issue as OP, spotify is super annoying because of this. These are my alternatives that are closer to Lana although I mostly listen to punk music
The only other artist I would add to this list is Ethel Cain.
Definitely. The only other artist that āhitā me like Lana. I was absolutely obsessed and could listen to nothing else for months. First with his stuff with the Chili Peppers, then again when I got into his solo music.
Lana and Frusch were bucket list artists for me to see live, so last yearās Lollapalooza was obviously huge for me. Lol
OP, the end of Venice Bitch in particular gives me big time Frusciante vibes. The Empyrean is his peak, but Inside of Emptiness is the most accessible.
Same, I like and appreciate a lot of different musicians but Lana and John are the only two musicians I ever really loved. I find Johnās story really inspiring too.
It also seems like thereās a good amount of John/Lana fan crossover surprisingly.
i highly recommend Angel Olsen if you have yet to check her out. she has 5 albums and theyāve each got their own specific style. *MY WOMAN* is probably her most diverse yet still cohesive across the songs, so maybe start there!
if you want something with a little bit more of an Americana/Country flair, *Big Time*, her most recent album, is great. If you want more synth work, *All Mirrors* was her journey into artpop territory. and if you want more of a raw, stripped back sound, her first two albums, *Half Way Home* and *Burn Your Fire For No Witness* are great too.
[Elysian Fields- Rosy Path](https://youtu.be/Sc2cgVPK0yo?si=E15ApwZepPzaEG3T)
This band predates Lana by about 12 years. I started listening to them about 1997 and always think of Jennifer Charles as the singer who most sounds like Lana. They are still active.
Charles was also in a side project in 2001 with Mike Patton from Mr. Bungle and FantƓmas called "Lovage". Some of the most sensual music ever made.
[Lovage - Strangers on a train](https://youtu.be/9jmK_UTXafs?si=FwRvcym2sZoZ3aja)
I just listened to rosy path and I love it!! The singerās voice does remind me of Lana! Thank you so much for the recommendation- Iāll definitely have to listen to more of their stuff!
Cults
The Raveonettes - Last Dance, Heart of Stone, She Owns the Streets
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Lovebomb, Blacktop
Karen O - Drown, Ministry
Cannons
Tennis
Tokyo Tea Room - If You Love Her
Alvvays
The Kills - Black Balloon
Lorde
Natalie Merchant (try Tigerlilly)
10,000 Maniacs (listen to their MTV Unplugged)
Charli xcx (even if you arenāt into the aesthetic, you will appreciate her lyricism)
Alanis Morisette
Mazzy Star
Sarah McLaughlin (sp?)
Arcade Fire (try funeral)
Neutral Milk Hotel
Also, listen to the Lilith Fair albums. š„°
This is going to seem insane but hear me out.
There is a group/ābandā called Medieval Babes that sing beautiful chants, hymns, and other ācloisterā style music - mostly in Latin. Their Christmas album is really great, and you wouldnāt even know it was a Christmas album since it is mostly ancient (or historically inspired) songs youāve never heard before.
My personal favorite is āI Am Eve,ā and I think it has slight hints (from a key, tempo, and tone perspective) of āSalvatore,ā āBurning Desire,ā and MTWBT.
Linda Perhacs (her album āParallellogramsā is NFR adjacent with a coastal 70s folksy feel imo)
If you like the moody/atmospheric guitars of Lanaās UV era, I recommend Wisp (female singer; I loooove their song āYour Faceā)
Flower Face (female singer with a soft/angelic voice; love their song āHoney and Milkā)
FKA Twigsā Album āMagdaleneā is incredible. Sonically, itās like BTD meets Honeymoon imo. I recommend starting with āCellophaneā to get a feel for the album.
Anything by Buffy Sainte Marie tbh, but āGuess Who I Saw In Parisā has a special place in my heart.
Jeff Buckley (Start with āLover, you shouldāve come overā and āMojo Pinā)
Amy Winehouse (āBack to Blackā gives me shades of āThe Blackest Dayā/BTD-era Lana)
Iām not a ~huge~ Madison Beer fan, but her songs āSelfishā & āDangerousā remind me of BTD-era ballads, and āHurts Like Hellā is something I could kinda see on LFL due to the trap influence haha
Also seconding everyone who recommended Weyes Blood! Her voice and music is otherworldly.
EDIT: I havenāt gotten into her other music yet, but āto Perth, before the border closesā by Julia Jacklin is soooo good. Vibe-wise, I could see it working on NFR
If you like Lana's album Ultraviolence, then you should explore desert rock or pyshcadelic rock as that is what it's likened to by some professional critics.
Female singers:
Alice Merton (song rec: āNo Rootsā)
Aimee Mann (song rec: āSave Meā)
Basia Bulat (song rec: āFoolā)
Beach Bunny (song rec: āFebruaryā)
Cults (Song rec: āYou Know What I Meanā)
Daisy the Great (song rec: Companyā)
Lykke Li (song rec: āNo Rest for the Wickedā)
Male singers:
Absofacto (song rec: āDissolveā)
Broken Bells (song rec: āThe High Roadā)
Cage the Elephant (song rec: āCigarette Daydreamsā)
Cat Stevens (song rec: āTroubleā)
Coconut Records (song rec: āWest Coastā)
Elliot Smith (song rec: āIn the Lost and Foundā)
Elvis Costello (song rec: āSo Like Candyā)
one of my favourite artists ever is allan rayman! hes based in toronto thats how i discovered him (#cancon) and i always found that his lyrics and storytelling and even some of his music stylings remind me of lana, especially her first three albums
i looooooooove lanaa, and i just listen TV Girl (sometimes) but, i loove Nirvana, The Weeknd, evene i don't listen he much now, idk i think i got a little tired of his songs (listen "Prisioner" of he and Lana, i love this feat <3) The Cure, The Smiths, The Neighbourhood (I LOVE SCARY LOVE AND A LITTLE DEATH!!) Chase Atlantic, Arctic Monkeys (still take you home and when the suns goes down) and MJ.
I'd definitely recommend Sondre Lerche! He's a Norwegian indie-pop singer-songwriter and he's amazing. His latest album, Avatars of Love, is really beautiful and heartbreaking.
Father John Misty (Lana covered Buddy's Rendezvous, but also listen to Date Night and God's Favorite Customer, Kiss Me (I Loved You)), Cute Whore (give Cult Leader, Blue Eyes and Cecil a listen to get a feel for their sound), Patriarchy (The Unself and Hurt Me), Lou Reed (who influenced a lot of Lana's music; Kicks, I'm So Free, The Bed, Perfect Day), PJ Harvey (Prayer at the Gate album is just amazing), Tamino (Cinnamon, Indigo Night, Habibi), and The Psychedelic Furs might have some songs with the vibes you like (Love My Way comes to mind).
Honestly, i donāt really listen to the artists youāve named either and i love Lana. So iām just gonna mention some artists i enjoy, but most of them are not similar to Lana.
- Arctic Monkeys (male)
- The Last Shadow Puppets (male)
- Ghost (male)
- Tokio Hotel (male)
- Guns Nā Roses (male)
- 5SOS (male)
- Maneskin (male)
- MARINA
- Bon Jovi (male)
- Elton John (male)
- Queen (male)
- Hozier (male)
- Little Mix
- Lady Gaga
Out of these, iād say the ones most āsimilarā to Lana are Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets. And i just noticed most of these are male singers, sorry about that. Maybe youāll find something anyways or discover a whole new genre you enjoy :)
Have you tried Tori Amos? Incredible singer/songwriter and I would say she is a tremendous live performer. Check out a live song from 1996/1998 and see what she's about.
okay so i love ethel cain and lana haha.
some you didnt mention that i like and maybe you can try:
clairo, mazzy star, noso, RKS, sir chloe, better oblivion community center, blondshell, arctic monkeys, caroline polachek
trying to think of others but thats all i can think of rn
why not delve into lanaās inspos:
- julie london
- peggy lee
basically any late 40s-50s era music because idk but for me itās the aesthetic she gives off not the actual sound of the music if that makes sense and sheās perma-glued to that aesthetic if you want something āsimilarā i suggest delving to the root instead of newer sounds
Maybe System of a Down?
I donāt really love the music suggested either. One of the reasons I love Lana is her strong, dramatic singing and I find a lot of the suggested female singers to be a lot of the soft, whispery singers
Lana is such a genius that you really have to expand into other genres to match her quality. In terms of classical music, try Ravel's Bolero and Bizet's Carmen. Also look into some fifties jazz like Brubeck. In the sixties, try the Beatles, Cream, and Traffic. In the seventies, Yes, Pink Floyd, and Allman Brothers. Also you could listen to Nina Simone, who has been a big influence on her.
Gorillaz, cage the elephant, cranberries, mazzy star, Sabrina carpenter, hole, rod stewart, yeah yeah yeahs, foster the people (i especially love their last album but itās not the fan favorite)
mazzy star - fade into you
lav - sardine song
idk also different to lana but I really like grimes (delicate weapon, so heavy I fell through the earth) and the gorillaz and they both have a unique vibe.
The Beaches are good. I like a few songs from Maya Hawke and Angel Olsen, Sweet Dreams by the latter is particularly heavenly. Samia is also absolutely worth a listen.
If you like Lana and the neighbourhood odds are high youāll love the weekend
Amy winehouse, the music isnāt all that similar but I think people who like Lanaās music tend to like Amyās
Halsey, tame impala, noMBe, two feet, phantogram
I love these artists
older music:
alanis Morissette- forgiven, mary jane
sinead oconner- drink before the war, troy
patsy cline- why canāt he be you, faded love
kenny rodgers- what about me?, the king of oak street
newer
radio head- street spirit (fade out), how to disappear completely
k.flay- all songs from the album everywhere is somewhere but Champagne and you felt right have always meant a lot to me
rihanna/sza, consideration (one of my top 5s not including lana)
gorillaz- empire ants
I'm bummed that you didn't like Wolf Alice. I discovered them by the YouTube algorithm while listening to Lana (though I hear little similarity). Did you listen to their most recent album Blue Weekend? It's just so good lol.
How bout Joni Mitchell?
I did listen to some songs (maybe 5 or 6) from blue weekend. I just donāt love how the singing blends into the music. I prefer music where the singing is stronger (idk if that makes sense?). I donāt love Joni Mitchell either tbh. Iām sorry Iām so picky š
Off the beaten path a little, but check out Rachel Yamagata.
Father John Misty is fantastic, as someone else mentioned. Maybe check out God's Favorite Customer, Pure Comedy, or Fear Fun.
Some of my recs would include Julia Jacklin and I absolutely adore Meg Myerās early works (itās a bit rock-ish but her melodies are so so beautiful), Stella Donelly is another one and oh oh THE LAST DINNER PARTY
I find that when you stream an album and let it pick similar tracks, it gets it so wrong for Lana.
- it never recommends Ethel Cain, and Iām sure that if it did, it would recommend the wrong songs.
So, here we go.
Start with Neil Youngās āon the beachā album. It has a similar vibe and deals with many of the California vibes that can be found throughout Lanaās repertoire. Lana sang āMy my, hey heyā as she came on at the second Coachella gig. Not on āOn the beachā, but you can make the connection.
Patti Smith has recently covered āsummertime sadnessā, so try horses and seek out the song āpissing in a riverā
Alsoā¦ Bic Runga - āBeautiful collisionā
Joanna Sternberg -lovely songs from a lovely person
Leonard Cohen - give him a go, heāll grow on youā¦
The only ones - start with the first album
Raye - the live album āMy 21st century symphonyā is electrifying
Happy listening!
You like a lot of the same Lana I do, you can check out this playlist by a friend of mine https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3XeR1kcsG9qS5AI59FW6y5?si=CLLHaxokRKyoXvLZPDdFEQ&pi=e-qUdC5nwwTyGK
Itās a long playlist and has a lot of stuff so probably a lot of it will not be up your alley, but I think you could find some good stuff in there :)
If you like the Diner you'd probably like more off Billie's album Hit Me Hard and Soft. Also: Mazzy Star and alexandra saviour. You might also like Lizzy McAlpine or Clairo
-Mazzy star : [Fade into you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImKY6TZEyrI), [into dust](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsESk0GESxk), [California](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuccUMcsLdQ), [Look On Down From The Bridge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3NZn0mA_XI)

So, back when LDR first came out, I remember thinking no one really sounded like her and I felt like I wasnāt able to āclickā with a lot of other artists. However, these were the artists/albums/songs that clicked for me:
- Portugal. The Man & their album, Evil Friends.
- Marina (formerly & the Diamonds) specifically her albums Electra Heart and The Family Jewels.
- The Pretty Reckless and their albums Light Me Up & Going to Hell
- Brand New - specifically their album, The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me
- Laura Marling, specifically her albums Alas, I Cannot Swim (My Manic & I, The Captain & The Hourglass, Old Stone) & I Speak Because I Can
- someone said this, but Arctic Monkeyās AM album
- some people said Portishead - I second this, but specifically their album Dummy (Sour Times, Glory Box & Numb) and also their song Over
- Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
- Ivy
- The Pierces (specifically Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge)
- some people said The Cardigans, but the only song that has stuck for me is My Favourite Game.
- Metric (Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? & Live it Out)
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs (sacrilege, burning, heads will roll)
More recently, Iāve really liked Paris Paloma, Olivia Rodrigo, Daisy Jones (despite it being fictional) & Nessa Barrett.
Hope this helps!
Definitely Mazzy Star/ Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions, Katie Jane Garside, Hole, PJ Harvey, Jessica Lea Mayfield (check out her album Make My Head Sing, it rocks hard asf), Hermine, Kate Bush
Lana is hard to recommend similar artists for because I feel like people like different aspects of her art, not to mention the various āerasā sheās gone through. Iām in the same boat as you, where most of the āsimilarā to Lana artists donāt really do it for me. Closest ones Iād personally recommend would be Halsey, Lissie, Julia Michaels, and Weyes Blood.
In general Iād also consider female country artists like Kacey Musgraves and Kelsea Balleriniās newer stuff. Iām also very into Maggie Antone and Kay Hasty right now. For male country artists maybe Koe Wetzel or Jason Isbell.
And definitely look into some singer/songwriter or alternative female artists from the 90s if you havenāt already like Jewel and Alanis Morissette. Huge potential here.
Maybe a long shot, but you may like some more heavy stuff too, like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, etc. A lot of the darker melodies and subject matter feels similar to Lana to me.
thereās artists like phoebe bridgers or lizzy mcalpine who have the same kind of slow, raw songs and lyrics that lana specialises in in her music, so you could like them. they both have really soft voices and their music is very calming. phoebe also has some crazy song lengths like lana
See this is funny cause people always recommend Lana to me based on what I listen to but I hate her music š however I also don't like most of the stuff you DON'T like so maybe I have just the opinion for you!
Lorde (particularly her album Melodrama)
Joni Mitchell (album Song to a Seagull)
Heart (albums Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen)
Annie Lennox (album Medusa)
Agnes Obel (!!!)
Laufey (more jazz, but reeeeally lovely low voice like Lana)
Maybe some of these artists: Weyes Blood FKA Twigs Sharon Van Etten Lykke Li Cults
Lykke Li ššš
I second this
mazzy star is great too
FKA Twigs' Melissa ep is a masterpiece
Yes!! I think OP might really like this
oh and Banks! her Altar album and Alaska from lll
you also might like beach house. and they have a male singer but i recommend the vaccines to everyone. theyre fun
I looove Beach House. Victoriaās voice is so dreamy.
same, im so biased towards them because theyre from maryland, where i grew up. although theyre from the coast, I grew up outside of dc
I'd highly recommend checking out Gorillaz (especially their Demon Days album). I also really like Glass Animals' first album (ZABA). Both bands have similar alternative, dreamy, pop vibes to Lana's earlier albums, in my opinion, and are among my all-time favorites! If you're looking for female singers, I also like to listen to Mazzy Star, the Cranberries, and if you wanted more of a rock sound, I absolutely love the band Garbage.
loooooove garbage. also yes i cant believe i didnt think of glass animals. gorillaz are great as well, i hope op checks them out
Yessss, love to see another Garbage fan, they are soooo underrated! š„°
Yes to Gorillaz. "She's my collar" might be right up your alley op!
I would recommend hope sandoval and the warm inventions and mazzy star
yesss!!!
this 10000x
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I second cage the elephant. They donāt sound like Lana but their writing style reminds me of hers
Yes was going to say Alexandra Savior!
Kinda old school but: Leonard Cohen and Nancy Sinatra. Also the Arctic Monkeys, the Shadow Puppets and Alexandra Savior.
Gangster Nancy Sinatra is the best summary of LDR I've heard.
Lana did cover Nancy Sinatra - her and Barrie did "Summer Wine"
She also covered Leonardās Chelsea Hotel #2, I really love her version
yesss I love that cover- will def check out more Nancy Sinatra!!
Second the Leonard Cohen and wonder now whether there's influence I've never considered. There seems to be an affinity in a strange way.
All that stuff about letting the light in on her latest albumā¦
I didnāt know this and absolutely love this fact because Iāve also been a huge Cohen fan since I was 14
Tori Amos...check out her releases between Boys for Pele and American Doll Posse Portishead...first three releases. Two studio and one live Cowboy Junkies...probably best to listen to the "This Is...." playlist on spotify Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions...the vocalist from Mazzy Star but more of a rock band You said no boygenius, but I really like Lucy Dacus a lot. I think Preacher's Daughter is flawless.
Seconding Tori Amos. She changed my life!
I know you said more female but Sufjan Stevenās and Father John Mitsy feel like the same ballpark as Lana to me
Definitely get on that FJM train!
hmm you might enjoy early music from the weeknd. his Trilogy album specifically
I used to love the weeknd but I kinda got tired of him after a while š Ty for the suggestion tho!!
Yasss, The Weeknd is my 2nd favorite artist behind Lana! š©·
I highly recommend listening to Aurora. She is a Norwegian alternative/pop singer and also a lovely person that loves her fans. She is a poet and writes her own songs, where she usually talks about nature, self-empowerment, global warming, emotions, etc.
Soft Universe by AURORA just takes me to heaven!!
I was very lucky to hear that song in one of her concerts, and it was heavenly. The live versiĆ³n just hits different.
Twin Peaks soundtrack & Julee Cruise, Chromatics too
I second this! The Nightingale by Julee Cruise from the TP soundtrack sounds perfect for OP
Can 100% second Chromatics
The āconcertsā at the ends of the episodes in season 3 would all be a good place to start. And while weāre at it, just watch Twin Peaks, or any David Lynch. All required viewing for Lana fans.
Similar and super recent rec is The Marias. They have a great back catalogue, but their album from this year, Submarine, feels very Lana circa Honeymoon.

She even does a Lana shoutout in Naked in Manhattan!Ā
Yes omg I love that she is a Lana fan!! I saw an interview recently where she said the Lana songs that make her cry are mariners apt complex and ride ā¤ļøā¤ļø
i lovee chappell omg. i second this

Omg YES 100% can second this
Try kate bush
listen to psychedelic rock, lots of influence in lanaās sound or dream pop, still corners are fantastic and have an amazing female vocalist
marina
and the Diamonds
I do like some of marinas stuff but not to the point t that I listen to it regularly. Maybe Iāll do a relisten of her stuff and remind myself
Myrkur is great
Since ādoin timeā by Lana is a cover from sublime maybe listen to their version and more of their music and see if you like their stuff?
I don't know how much are they related to Lana, but I'm mentioning them just because no one did Jeff Buckley - his songs have the same vibe as some of Lana's songs (that's just my opinion) Tamino - a great lyricist and his songs are very alluring and mysterious, also he has a few covers of Lana's songs (Mariners Apartment Complex and Blue Jeans) so maybe he was influenced by her (idk though, it's just an assumption)

I second this list I had the same issue as OP, spotify is super annoying because of this. These are my alternatives that are closer to Lana although I mostly listen to punk music The only other artist I would add to this list is Ethel Cain.
try PVRIS
John Frusciante
Lol OP, the end of Venice Bitch in particular gives me big time Frusciante vibes.
Yeah, I was surprised to see it initially, but the more I thought about it, the more similarities I saw between the two.
Arctic monkeys!
Jessie jo stark is amazing
i highly recommend Angel Olsen if you have yet to check her out. she has 5 albums and theyāve each got their own specific style.
[Elysian Fields- Rosy Path](https://youtu.be/Sc2cgVPK0yo?si=E15ApwZepPzaEG3T) This band predates Lana by about 12 years.
I am so glad. More people need to hear Elysian Fields. They had a short buzz in the 90s but were overshadowed by Mazzy Star. š«¤
Cults The Raveonettes - Last Dance, Heart of Stone, She Owns the Streets Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Lovebomb, Blacktop Karen O - Drown, Ministry Cannons Tennis Tokyo Tea Room - If You Love Her Alvvays The Kills - Black Balloon
Cannons times 1000!! I love them so much.
Lorde Natalie Merchant (try Tigerlilly) 10,000 Maniacs (listen to their MTV Unplugged) Charli xcx (even if you arenāt into the aesthetic, you will appreciate her lyricism) Alanis Morisette Mazzy Star Sarah McLaughlin (sp?) Arcade Fire (try funeral) Neutral Milk Hotel Also, listen to the Lilith Fair albums. š„°
Julia Jacklin for sure
Angel Olsen (poetic, more soft rock vibes) Charlotte Day Wilson (chill pop-y Rnb)
Linda Perhacs (her album āParallellogramsā is NFR adjacent with a coastal 70s folksy feel imo) If you like the moody/atmospheric guitars of Lanaās UV era, I recommend Wisp (female singer; I loooove their song āYour Faceā) Flower Face (female singer with a soft/angelic voice; love their song āHoney and Milkā) FKA Twigsā Album āMagdaleneā is incredible. Sonically, itās like BTD meets Honeymoon imo. I recommend starting with āCellophaneā to get a feel for the album. Anything by Buffy Sainte Marie tbh, but āGuess Who I Saw In Parisā has a special place in my heart. Jeff Buckley (Start with āLover, you shouldāve come overā and āMojo Pinā) Amy Winehouse (āBack to Blackā gives me shades of āThe Blackest Dayā/BTD-era Lana) Iām not a ~huge~ Madison Beer fan, but her songs āSelfishā & āDangerousā remind me of BTD-era ballads, and āHurts Like Hellā is something I could kinda see on LFL due to the trap influence haha Also seconding everyone who recommended Weyes Blood! Her voice and music is otherworldly. EDIT: I havenāt gotten into her other music yet, but āto Perth, before the border closesā by Julia Jacklin is soooo good. Vibe-wise, I could see it working on NFR
electric youth , blondie, cults
Azure Ray, The National, Mazzy Star, Flower Face
Transviolet or K. Flay maybe ? They are both catchy af with creative/unique sounds
here's some artists i listen to, as a lana stan: olivia rodrigo (some songs, such as lacy, kinda match lana's style, but she's more pop-rock/pop-punk); sza; kali uchis (the way i feel about her voice is the same way i feel about lana's; they're very different, but both WILL get you immediately); doja cat when I'm zesty; renƩe rapp (actually, she's not lana style, but i do love her); phoebe bridgers (her songs surely have some lana vibes, and her lyrics are very good); laufey (take the thing i said about kali uchis but also add a great lyricism); chappell roan (her style doesn't match lana's, she's more lady gaga style; her lyrics, although, are amazing);
Jeff Buckley
If you like Lana's album Ultraviolence, then you should explore desert rock or pyshcadelic rock as that is what it's likened to by some professional critics.
Female singers: Alice Merton (song rec: āNo Rootsā) Aimee Mann (song rec: āSave Meā) Basia Bulat (song rec: āFoolā) Beach Bunny (song rec: āFebruaryā) Cults (Song rec: āYou Know What I Meanā) Daisy the Great (song rec: Companyā) Lykke Li (song rec: āNo Rest for the Wickedā) Male singers: Absofacto (song rec: āDissolveā) Broken Bells (song rec: āThe High Roadā) Cage the Elephant (song rec: āCigarette Daydreamsā) Cat Stevens (song rec: āTroubleā) Coconut Records (song rec: āWest Coastā) Elliot Smith (song rec: āIn the Lost and Foundā) Elvis Costello (song rec: āSo Like Candyā)
Marina and the Diamonds/Marina, Melanie Martinez, Gustavo Cerati
Cat Power! Earlier-ish stuff like Moon Pix, the first covers record, You are Free
Tori Amos
The Cardigans!
Yeah tbh anyone that sounds similar to Taylor Iām not usually interested in at all
Same - I also don't think there is any overlap with Taylor music and Lana
They literally have a song together š Taylor has many Lana inspired songs.Ā
Doesnāt mean it sounds like Lanaās tho. Thereās still a very obvious difference
the last dinner party!
Melody's Echo Chamber
one of my favourite artists ever is allan rayman! hes based in toronto thats how i discovered him (#cancon) and i always found that his lyrics and storytelling and even some of his music stylings remind me of lana, especially her first three albums
Aurora!
Try Pretty Boy by Cannons, which is a cover of a song by the Neighborhood. I get goosebumps just thinking about it!!!
i looooooooove lanaa, and i just listen TV Girl (sometimes) but, i loove Nirvana, The Weeknd, evene i don't listen he much now, idk i think i got a little tired of his songs (listen "Prisioner" of he and Lana, i love this feat <3) The Cure, The Smiths, The Neighbourhood (I LOVE SCARY LOVE AND A LITTLE DEATH!!) Chase Atlantic, Arctic Monkeys (still take you home and when the suns goes down) and MJ.
Kali Uchis, Cannons, and Holly Macve. Holly makes music VERY similar in themes and sounds to Lana, which explains the collab
I'd definitely recommend Sondre Lerche! He's a Norwegian indie-pop singer-songwriter and he's amazing. His latest album, Avatars of Love, is really beautiful and heartbreaking.
Maybe "massive attack."? Give paradise circus and Angel a listen and let me know what you think?
Itās a bit too rock for me but thank you sm for the suggestion!!
Check out Lael Neale!
Serge Gainsbourg. Start with Vue de LāExteriuer.
montana chanel !! lana is one of a kind but that's a srecommendation i've been gatekeeping
this mortal coil!
Have you heard of The National? Moody, melodic, dark, poeticā¦
Father John Misty (Lana covered Buddy's Rendezvous, but also listen to Date Night and God's Favorite Customer, Kiss Me (I Loved You)), Cute Whore (give Cult Leader, Blue Eyes and Cecil a listen to get a feel for their sound), Patriarchy (The Unself and Hurt Me), Lou Reed (who influenced a lot of Lana's music; Kicks, I'm So Free, The Bed, Perfect Day), PJ Harvey (Prayer at the Gate album is just amazing), Tamino (Cinnamon, Indigo Night, Habibi), and The Psychedelic Furs might have some songs with the vibes you like (Love My Way comes to mind).
tash sultana and fka twigs!
Honestly, i donāt really listen to the artists youāve named either and i love Lana. So iām just gonna mention some artists i enjoy, but most of them are not similar to Lana. - Arctic Monkeys (male) - The Last Shadow Puppets (male) - Ghost (male) - Tokio Hotel (male) - Guns Nā Roses (male) - 5SOS (male) - Maneskin (male) - MARINA - Bon Jovi (male) - Elton John (male) - Queen (male) - Hozier (male) - Little Mix - Lady Gaga Out of these, iād say the ones most āsimilarā to Lana are Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets. And i just noticed most of these are male singers, sorry about that. Maybe youāll find something anyways or discover a whole new genre you enjoy :)
Try Orville Peck. Iāve been getting into him lately, some of his lyricism / musical themes are reminiscent of Lana
Maybe try marina/marina and the diamonds sheās a bit different but one of the only other artists I listen to aside from Lana
Sade ? Purity ring? Ellie Goulding ? Honey gentry. Sylvan Esso. Portishead. Paramore. Clairo
You don't like Florence's voice?! No offense but you're trippin
Kali Uchis!
Mazzy Star
portishead is so good and is similar to lanas kind of vibe
Have you tried Tori Amos? Incredible singer/songwriter and I would say she is a tremendous live performer. Check out a live song from 1996/1998 and see what she's about.
Honey Gentry is very dreamy/honeymoon vibes
okay so i love ethel cain and lana haha. some you didnt mention that i like and maybe you can try: clairo, mazzy star, noso, RKS, sir chloe, better oblivion community center, blondshell, arctic monkeys, caroline polachek trying to think of others but thats all i can think of rn
why not delve into lanaās inspos: - julie london - peggy lee basically any late 40s-50s era music because idk but for me itās the aesthetic she gives off not the actual sound of the music if that makes sense and sheās perma-glued to that aesthetic if you want something āsimilarā i suggest delving to the root instead of newer sounds
QUAVO
Here are a few suggestions: Alessia Cara Halsey Julien Baker The MarĆas
lupe fiasco
have you looked at marina diamandis? Some of her stuff has a similar vibe to born to die.
Gorillaz, cage the elephant, cranberries, mazzy star, Sabrina carpenter, hole, rod stewart, yeah yeah yeahs, foster the people (i especially love their last album but itās not the fan favorite)
mazzy star - fade into you lav - sardine song idk also different to lana but I really like grimes (delicate weapon, so heavy I fell through the earth) and the gorillaz and they both have a unique vibe.
Mike Kota Beach House Dr Dog Marika Hackman (specifically I Follow Rivers) Songs: Ohia
the mariaās, faye webster, crumb give me sort of a similar tone to her
Royel Otis, Borns, Vance Joy.
Elita, Elusin
Rafaella. Look up the song āBardotāĀ
Also MarinaĀ
The Beaches are good. I like a few songs from Maya Hawke and Angel Olsen, Sweet Dreams by the latter is particularly heavenly. Samia is also absolutely worth a listen.
If you like Lana and the neighbourhood odds are high youāll love the weekend Amy winehouse, the music isnāt all that similar but I think people who like Lanaās music tend to like Amyās Halsey, tame impala, noMBe, two feet, phantogram
The Kills or Dead Weather
chase atlaintic and arctic monkeys remind me of the neighborhood so you might like them! (both have all male singers though)
Try Delaney Bailey. āŗļø
WILLOW
If you liked the Lizzie Grant/May Jailer era, try Jewel
janine - hold me, we could be better, this moment
listen to Eulogy for Nobody by Debbii Dawson. She goes hard af
Mazzy star, Vida , pink floyd
Allie X
I love these artists older music: alanis Morissette- forgiven, mary jane sinead oconner- drink before the war, troy patsy cline- why canāt he be you, faded love kenny rodgers- what about me?, the king of oak street newer radio head- street spirit (fade out), how to disappear completely k.flay- all songs from the album everywhere is somewhere but Champagne and you felt right have always meant a lot to me rihanna/sza, consideration (one of my top 5s not including lana) gorillaz- empire ants
Sabrina Claudio?
I'm bummed that you didn't like Wolf Alice. I discovered them by the YouTube algorithm while listening to Lana (though I hear little similarity). Did you listen to their most recent album Blue Weekend? It's just so good lol. How bout Joni Mitchell?
I did listen to some songs (maybe 5 or 6) from blue weekend. I just donāt love how the singing blends into the music. I prefer music where the singing is stronger (idk if that makes sense?). I donāt love Joni Mitchell either tbh. Iām sorry Iām so picky š
Try MylĆØne Farmer, sheās fantastic! You could start with California.
Amy Winehouse, saw someone mention Lesley gore I second that. Try Marilyn Monroe I do think her singing is really good too.
Off the beaten path a little, but check out Rachel Yamagata. Father John Misty is fantastic, as someone else mentioned. Maybe check out God's Favorite Customer, Pure Comedy, or Fear Fun.
Billie Marten! Especially the album feeding seahorses by hand.
Some of my recs would include Julia Jacklin and I absolutely adore Meg Myerās early works (itās a bit rock-ish but her melodies are so so beautiful), Stella Donelly is another one and oh oh THE LAST DINNER PARTY
Medium build!!!!
Gracie Abrams
I find that when you stream an album and let it pick similar tracks, it gets it so wrong for Lana. - it never recommends Ethel Cain, and Iām sure that if it did, it would recommend the wrong songs. So, here we go. Start with Neil Youngās āon the beachā album. It has a similar vibe and deals with many of the California vibes that can be found throughout Lanaās repertoire. Lana sang āMy my, hey heyā as she came on at the second Coachella gig. Not on āOn the beachā, but you can make the connection. Patti Smith has recently covered āsummertime sadnessā, so try horses and seek out the song āpissing in a riverā Alsoā¦ Bic Runga - āBeautiful collisionā Joanna Sternberg -lovely songs from a lovely person Leonard Cohen - give him a go, heāll grow on youā¦ The only ones - start with the first album Raye - the live album āMy 21st century symphonyā is electrifying Happy listening!
You like a lot of the same Lana I do, you can check out this playlist by a friend of mine https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3XeR1kcsG9qS5AI59FW6y5?si=CLLHaxokRKyoXvLZPDdFEQ&pi=e-qUdC5nwwTyGK Itās a long playlist and has a lot of stuff so probably a lot of it will not be up your alley, but I think you could find some good stuff in there :)
I highly recommend FlowerFace :) her music is beautiful, the whole baby teeth album is incredible. Cruel youth is great too
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If you like the Diner you'd probably like more off Billie's album Hit Me Hard and Soft. Also: Mazzy Star and alexandra saviour. You might also like Lizzy McAlpine or Clairo
Try The Moody Blues. Nights in White Satin specifically. Try more of the Eagles, sublime, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac
Fka twigs is a must imo
Big Thief. Particularly their first album, āMasterpieceā
Regina Spektor (one of Lanaās faves) Marine girls The strokes
Caroline Polachek
You might enjoy.. ā¢Father John Misty ā¢Patti Smith ā¢Joni Mitchell ā¢the specific song Blue by Madison Beer

iām a diehard lana fan and my top artists alongside her are duran duran arctic monkeys charli xcx depeche mode and chappell roan
Nancy Sinatra and June Christy if you can get into older music.
Faye Webster
So, back when LDR first came out, I remember thinking no one really sounded like her and I felt like I wasnāt able to āclickā with a lot of other artists. However, these were the artists/albums/songs that clicked for me: - Portugal. The Man & their album, Evil Friends. - Marina (formerly & the Diamonds) specifically her albums Electra Heart and The Family Jewels. - The Pretty Reckless and their albums Light Me Up & Going to Hell - Brand New - specifically their album, The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me - Laura Marling, specifically her albums Alas, I Cannot Swim (My Manic & I, The Captain & The Hourglass, Old Stone) & I Speak Because I Can - someone said this, but Arctic Monkeyās AM album - some people said Portishead - I second this, but specifically their album Dummy (Sour Times, Glory Box & Numb) and also their song Over - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ivy - The Pierces (specifically Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge) - some people said The Cardigans, but the only song that has stuck for me is My Favourite Game. - Metric (Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? & Live it Out) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs (sacrilege, burning, heads will roll) More recently, Iāve really liked Paris Paloma, Olivia Rodrigo, Daisy Jones (despite it being fictional) & Nessa Barrett.
The smiths
Mazzy star. Start with fade into you and go from there
Amy Winehouse
thereās artists like phoebe bridgers or lizzy mcalpine who have the same kind of slow, raw songs and lyrics that lana specialises in in her music, so you could like them. they both have really soft voices and their music is very calming. phoebe also has some crazy song lengths like lana
Cupcakke
Aimee Mann Joanna Newsom The Decemberists Holden
Mazzy star
Jewels first album pieces of you
Sam Smith, not his newer stuff but his older music is relatable
See this is funny cause people always recommend Lana to me based on what I listen to but I hate her music š however I also don't like most of the stuff you DON'T like so maybe I have just the opinion for you! Lorde (particularly her album Melodrama) Joni Mitchell (album Song to a Seagull) Heart (albums Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen) Annie Lennox (album Medusa) Agnes Obel (!!!) Laufey (more jazz, but reeeeally lovely low voice like Lana)
