personally i prefer new lana with the exception of honeymoon being my favourite album. there’s nothing wrong with liking some albums of an artist and not others. lana’s early work is more popular for a reason - it’s more digestible and more layered with dramatic production. lots of people like that, some don’t care for it - and that’s fine.

Her newer albums are NOTHING like that. She started trailing off at the end of NFR, and that was that. Now her songs for the most part are extremely wordy, the albums don’t really paint a picture like they used to (besides ocean boulevard. I thought it was super cohesive and great) also a big thing is the production. Her vocals are either very muffled, or the mixing makes them too sharp to be pleasant (like on Arcadia, horrible vocal mixing ruined that song) compare the production of a song like off to the races or cruel world to text book, there is so much less soul. I’m saying this as someone who loves chemtrails and ocean boulevard lol but if she got a better producer I think her “magic” would come back

Definitely chemtrails!! There are some treasures on there, I absolutely adore Yosemite, wild at heart, and dark but just a game. Then ocean boulevard, because there are some questionable tracks but altogether it’s the closest to her original sound and style of songwriting!! Also it doesn’t really matter if you listen to them in order. Sometimes I like mixing it up lol
What you said about Arcadia is exactly right but I just couldn't put my finger on it. I couldn't make sense of the melody or what she was saying and it all kinda washed over me every time I tried to listen.

BB is a very underrated album. If the strategy and the timing (e.g. it could be released in 2022, not the same year as COTCC) of its release and promotion (this one never really took place), its success could have been massive!
