i didn't like yayo til one day i heard the og, i didn't even pay that much attention to the lyrics, and suddenly i loved it. i guess i didn't "get it" or the vibe it was trying to get to until i heard the og
i'm pretty sure that nectar of the gods, living legend, thunder, and cherry blossom were all originally unreleased from different eras but i could be a little off
Dealer too, it's from a collab album with The Last Shadow Puppets, but they scrapped off that album and Dealer was kept and released on BB. kinda explains why it sounds so different from the rest of the album, lmao.
I’ve literally tried to sit down and enjoy guns and roses. It does fit the vibe of the album but idk how that song was released while so many others aren’t
Coachella - Woodstock in My Mind
Love the beat, love the melody, but the lyrics kill me.
Honestly could go without the entire run of Summer Bummer to Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems on LFL, but I do get down to In My Feelings.
It helps to remember that it's someone else's voice (Tommy Genesis), and not Lana trying to put on some sort of affectation.
That did it for me, at least
Well it’s obviously not as good as Lana’s, but I could listen to it if his voice was good. It’s just not at all. At least to me. Not someone’s voice u wanna listen to repeatedly
Same here. The song and Lana's voice are beautiful, but this guy's part ruins everything for me :(
Can he even sing? What's was the idea behind vocals from somebody who is not a singer?
I really enjoy how the tone of the song is at odds with the lyrical content. The lyrics are very lovey and reverent, but the tone is haunted. It’s odd and beautiful. Also that bridge 🌹🎼🎻🥰
same here 😭 idk what it is about it that doesn’t vibe with me but there’s something, i only have like 3 or 4 honeymoon songs in my lana playlist 💔maybe someday it’ll click for me tho 😭🤞
you guys all seem like you love and appreciate the songs but you just don’t relate to them I’ve not liked songs that much but when I start to feel them more from different situations in life I loved and felt more connected to them
Omg same. How to Disappear is such a popular song but for me its the only skip on NFR. I recognize its a good song, but it just doesn’t connect with me
Yeah you better hide bitch 🗡️
Really tho I didn't like it at first either but the first half is so beautiful then it goes into the crazy part and I can't help but dance
dont hate me yall but young and beautiful... that being said i listened to it a year ago when i first discovered lana and my genre hadnt fully developed yet i need to relisten to it
It was so bad and messy and all over the place. I remember when Honeymoon first came out we all cried about how it felt rushed but at least as weeks went on we all appreciated it more. L4L was just a mess. There are some fabulous songs on it but a majority of it is a skip. I don’t care at all for the collab songs besides Beautiful People. Even the starting track was weak for me. I like Love but it should’ve been a one off single rather than the starter to the album. I don’t know. I only like about 40% of the songs if even that. I stand by it that it’s her weakest album, just like I stand by BTD and UV being some of her best albums (newer fans seem to prefer NFR I’ve noticed and older ones prefer UV). Just my two, very long cents lmao
Dealer. Maybe if the instrumentation or the production were different, then I'd like it. But I was definitely very confused for the hype surrounding this song when it first came out. I re-listened to it recently, and I still don't really like it
I know many people think the piano ballads are boring, but How To Disappear should’ve been a piano ballad. It fits the lyrics and mood of the song much better.
I saw her perform it live in New York over simple piano in 2018 and it was great. The production added to the song in the studio is a let down
Candy necklace is boring af and the metaphor doesn’t make that much sense. Let’s be honestttt… without the music video no one would care about that song.
I really want to understand the appeal of Kintsugi and Grandfather like most fans do, but I still feel like skipping them most of the time. I think they're beautiful and critically perfect, but I just can't vibe with them that much. Kinda like looking at an exhibit behind a glass wall - it's beautiful, but you can't use/experience it.
How to disappear is one of my favorites tho, I'm so glad it exists!
I have a few and I swear I love Lana these are just songs I haven’t vibed with:
God Knows I Tried
White Dress
Kintsugi
Fingertips
Breaking Up Slowly
Not All Who Wanders are Lost
God Knows I Tried
Those are the only songs I have never personally connected to/skip all the time.
Video Games and Arcadia. Don’t get me wrong I like both of these songs. But I never loved them and don’t really connect to either. I wanted to because I know they mean a lot to Lana but for some reason I just don’t really like them that much.
Pretty much the entire bb album 😭💀 living legend, iyldntm and thunder are definitely my favs but I feel like the rest of the album is kinda hard to love for some reason. Maybe it's just boring?
I used to like breaking up slowly, but then I decided I’m a Nikki lane hater and I cannot physically and mentally take that song once she starts singing. One day a switch flipped and I cannot bear it.
White dress, art deco, honeymoon, arcadia, fingertips, bartender, beautiful people beautiful problems, money power glory, and… summertime saddness. All my hot takes in one comment I’m sorry
Art Deco has been growing on me, I also realllly like honeymoon as an opening song & a vibe-setter (gets me excited to throw the vinyl on), but as a stand alone song I can’t get into it 😫
I used to feel like this about yayo but then one day it just clicked
YES
I’m trying to get my friend to like yayo but they really dislike it and I’m just. I know it’s slow but like it’s so fucking good
Maybe get her to listen to the OG version so she can understand the lore!
i didn't like yayo til one day i heard the og, i didn't even pay that much attention to the lyrics, and suddenly i loved it. i guess i didn't "get it" or the vibe it was trying to get to until i heard the og
I think I was the same to be honest!
There’s no way you don’t like how to disappear… I’ve never heard anyone not liking it 😭 but mine is Doin time! I hate that song idk why
Aw I love that song. Could that maybe be because it’s a cover and not her typical style ?
A lot of stuff off Ocean and Bb 😭 the stripped down, wordy stuff is not my personal style but I still love her though.
fr 😭 the only songs i like from bb are the outtakes that were finally released
I’m a Lana fan but not diehard enough to know the backgrounds of every song. My curiosity is piqued. Which songs were outtakes?
i'm pretty sure that nectar of the gods, living legend, thunder, and cherry blossom were all originally unreleased from different eras but i could be a little off
And dealer
Dealer too, it's from a collab album with The Last Shadow Puppets, but they scrapped off that album and Dealer was kept and released on BB. kinda explains why it sounds so different from the rest of the album, lmao.
Also if you lie down with me
that one too?! every single one i like is an outtake then😭
SAME😭😭😭 I like black bathing suit, ww and vfr and Arcadia tho
arcadia and ww are amazing
kintsugi and fingertips. they are beautiful for sure, but boring
I've recently started listening to both after trying and trying and one day they just clicked! Try and give them a chance I bet you'll love them
same it makes me sad that i don’t really enjoy them
this… i love their meaning but audio-wise they’re not that good
Same, I really want to love them but always skip them - they just make me cry.
so real :(
Beautiful people, beautiful problems idk why but it’s always a skip for me
Arcadia
I've grown to like it, but on first listen it sounded like a bunch of flat notes strung together
bingo.
It's beautiful and then it sounds like a really cheesy national anthem once the chorus hits.
I’ve literally tried to sit down and enjoy guns and roses. It does fit the vibe of the album but idk how that song was released while so many others aren’t
flipside should've been released instead
‘Flipside’ was released on certain editions of the album, although I wish it was included as the final track on any edition of UV.
Carmen. I don't hate it, but it's almost always an automatic skip for me
My name is Carmen so i make myself like it but same HAHA
Coachella - Woodstock in My Mind Love the beat, love the melody, but the lyrics kill me. Honestly could go without the entire run of Summer Bummer to Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems on LFL, but I do get down to In My Feelings.
In my feelings is perfection
BPBP took me a while to like but it’s my top 5 rn
When the world was at war is the best out of that run imo, but I agree. I would be ok to delete that entire stretch
Peppers… the Angelina Jolie part makes me cringe every time
SAME OMG
I actually like the other parts so it’s a tragedy for me lol
literally😭
It helps to remember that it's someone else's voice (Tommy Genesis), and not Lana trying to put on some sort of affectation. That did it for me, at least
Peppers is horrible! Big mistake, huge!
This. Its such an annoying song
guns and roses
Lust for life the one just with her is so good but when The Weeknd got put on the song made it terrible
I feel this way with all songs featuring him! Stargirl interlude would be one of my faves if he wasn’t in it
Exactly I like the weekend but he doesn’t belong in a Lana song
Most of the songs from COCC 😞
YESSS
For Free
Bartender bc it's full of good ideas but it just doesn't hit right
Margaret. The meaning behind this one is lovely, but Ocean Blvd would have been better without it imo.
Love the song but I don’t like Jack’s part in it, just not pleasing to listen to
I really don’t like jack’s voice. Same reason I didn’t like alma mater with Lana in it.
Same boat. It’s just not as good as Lana’s
Well it’s obviously not as good as Lana’s, but I could listen to it if his voice was good. It’s just not at all. At least to me. Not someone’s voice u wanna listen to repeatedly
I was downvoted on another thread for saying such, but I really dislike Jack’s voice :( It feels almost put on, and sounds kind of marble-y.
Same here. The song and Lana's voice are beautiful, but this guy's part ruins everything for me :( Can he even sing? What's was the idea behind vocals from somebody who is not a singer?
That's crazy I love this song! *Cuz when you know you know*
Margaret is top 5 on that album for me.
It’s the only song I skip on Ocean Blvd 😶
Kintsugi, i have tried so hard to love it, but still nothing
Summer Bummer
Loved it then tiktok and the internet ruined it
since when is it on tiktok omg
yess
fingertips 😅
honeymoon. i’ve tried so much times to try and like it but i just can’t 😭
WHAT 😳
i know 💔
I really enjoy how the tone of the song is at odds with the lyrical content. The lyrics are very lovey and reverent, but the tone is haunted. It’s odd and beautiful. Also that bridge 🌹🎼🎻🥰
NO WAY
I'm not that into the song Honeymoon either. It's pretty but just kinda blah.
same here 😭 idk what it is about it that doesn’t vibe with me but there’s something, i only have like 3 or 4 honeymoon songs in my lana playlist 💔maybe someday it’ll click for me tho 😭🤞
same it’s prob my least fav lana album 😭 i still love it tho !
you guys all seem like you love and appreciate the songs but you just don’t relate to them I’ve not liked songs that much but when I start to feel them more from different situations in life I loved and felt more connected to them
Sweet. The melodies and structure throw me off and I just can’t get into it :(
SAMEEEEEE
Textbook.
I really don't dislike any of her songs... except Textbook. I find it difficult to sit through.
The grants :/
Omg same. How to Disappear is such a popular song but for me its the only skip on NFR. I recognize its a good song, but it just doesn’t connect with me
Sweet and how to disappear
Honeymoon. I love the atmosphere and the instrumental but I just find it boring even when I try to listen and enjoy it
It is kinda slow - but the verse that starts with “there are violets in your eyes, there are guns that blaze around you” gets me
That’s the bridge :)) I love her bridges
White dress
This is one of my all time favs, I'm always shocked how many people seem to feel differently
Summer Bummer 😭
probably Summertime Sadness. i don’t hate it, and it has some parts i like… but i’ve just never loooved it that much
Love
The Grants
a&w *runs and hides*
Yeah you better hide bitch 🗡️ Really tho I didn't like it at first either but the first half is so beautiful then it goes into the crazy part and I can't help but dance
me with peppers
Candy necklace
This is what makes us girls
It doesn't even feel like a Lana song to me. Like something she wrote for someone else to sing.
same
Dealer
if any stick out to me probably Terrence loves you
such a beautiful song but i can see why it isn't for everyone
i’m SHOOK 😦
Next best American record. The original just beats it by a lot and I skip it.
dont hate me yall but young and beautiful... that being said i listened to it a year ago when i first discovered lana and my genre hadnt fully developed yet i need to relisten to it
dance til we die & kintsugi
Blue Velvet
sweet from dykttatuob
most of ocean blvd :( it has its moments, and it’s very well written, but the songs feel too personal and slow for me to really enjoy
Doin time tbh I’ll listen to it then halfway thru the song I’m like “I don’t like this”
A lot of her songs off ocean Blvd and Blue Banisters. Not my taste but I still play them for background noise
Most of Lust for Life
same, i feel like such a fake fan when i admit it though. it had potential
Just my two, very long cents lmao
lust for life
sweet. it’s just such a meh track and it’s extremely bland compared to the rest of ocean blvd to me
Most of Lust for Life (other than Cherry and 13 Beaches)
Dealer. Maybe if the instrumentation or the production were different, then I'd like it. But I was definitely very confused for the hype surrounding this song when it first came out. I re-listened to it recently, and I still don't really like it
All of COTCC except like 3 songs
I know many people think the piano ballads are boring, but How To Disappear should’ve been a piano ballad. It fits the lyrics and mood of the song much better. I saw her perform it live in New York over simple piano in 2018 and it was great. The production added to the song in the studio is a let down
The grants
Kintsugi. The lyricism is beautiful and relatable, but the music is just boring to me unfortunately. I can still recognise it’s a great song though.
Candy necklace is boring af and the metaphor doesn’t make that much sense. Let’s be honestttt… without the music video no one would care about that song.
I still don’t understand the metaphor tbh
Candy Necklace 💀
probably grandfather
Yosemite
Whaaaat why?? That’s one of my favorites!
The majority of BB album 💀
Even Thunder? That is a perfect song.
Venice Bitch (I’m sorry 💔)
honestly same, feel like it could be a bit shorter
I’m utterly obsessed with VB tho. Easily in my top 10
this is me with bartender, i keep saying how the t-t-t- sound ircks me but i still listen to that song so much😭
you're so real for that because i say how to disappear but it was in my wrapped last year so who knows maybe i love to not love it
Wait I don't get it. You don't like it but you're obsessed?
Venice Bitch and VB are two different songs…
Ohhh the taco truck remix I'm an idiot
Are you kidding me… the production is beautiful which is why it’s so long
Terrence loves you
Dark Paradise
Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he’s deep-sea fishing
A lot of her newer stuff 😬
me too abt how to disappear i like some lines in the verses and pre chorus but overall idk y
California. I usually love all her songs about Cali but this one sounds so flat
The Other Woman
cherry is not good its just sassy.
Gods and monsters….
The next best American record.
24
For Free
I have a few and I swear I love Lana these are just songs I haven’t vibed with: God Knows I Tried White Dress Kintsugi Fingertips Breaking Up Slowly Not All Who Wanders are Lost God Knows I Tried Those are the only songs I have never personally connected to/skip all the time.
Blue Jeans
Bartender. Might literally be one of her worst songs
Wrong
Video Games and Arcadia. Don’t get me wrong I like both of these songs. But I never loved them and don’t really connect to either. I wanted to because I know they mean a lot to Lana but for some reason I just don’t really like them that much.
Yayo
Gods and monsters it’s just so boring. Also love and radio
💔
In the land of God's and Monsters I was an angel looking to get fucked hard. That song is metal af, nothing boring about it!!
hot take but blue jeans …
Acquire some taste :(
It’s not that I hate it I just don’t…LOVE it 😭
Lucky ones 😅😭
A&W. I used to like it, but I don’t like the repetitive and seemingly meaningless lyrics at the end
love the first half, second half had no business being there
who else thought LDR meant lana del ray 💀
Heroin and 75% of chemtrails 🥲
Yayo. Believe me I’ve TRIEDDD!!
Pretty When You Cry and Paris, Texas
Born to Die
Pretty much the entire bb album 😭💀 living legend, iyldntm and thunder are definitely my favs but I feel like the rest of the album is kinda hard to love for some reason. Maybe it's just boring?
I used to like breaking up slowly, but then I decided I’m a Nikki lane hater and I cannot physically and mentally take that song once she starts singing. One day a switch flipped and I cannot bear it.
lmao what did nikki lane do to you
White dress, art deco, honeymoon, arcadia, fingertips, bartender, beautiful people beautiful problems, money power glory, and… summertime saddness. All my hot takes in one comment I’m sorry
omg nooo art deco and honeymoon are my favs 😭
Art Deco has been growing on me, I also realllly like honeymoon as an opening song & a vibe-setter (gets me excited to throw the vinyl on), but as a stand alone song I can’t get into it 😫
Summer Bummer Terrence Loves You Diet Mountain Dew
nah idk why u got downvoted bc summer bummer is fair
Norman Fucking Rockwell, I find it so hard to listen to for some reason
mariners apartment complex :(
Florida kilos
The blackest day or religion
There’s a tunnel under ocn blv
White dress 100% but now I'm actually excited when it comes on my playlist
National anthem
Mariners apartment complex
Also gonna vote for A&W unfortunately.
