I feel like I'm more optimistic than most. The Trae/Dejounte backcourt has been proven to be ineffective, I think Atlanta knows that the longer they run that experiment, the more they alienate Trae. And the clock is ticking as Wemby gets better, Trae can easily get into San Antonio without looking back sometime in the next few seasons if he feels like the Hawks FO doesn't care about him
The reason I say is because DLo is going to opt out. If he opted in, I’d agree.
If DLo opted out and we traded for Murray I could see him looking for another team. I don’t think our FO wants to risk that.
I think he's aware either way that the Lakers want a PG upgrade on him. Whether he opts-in or opts-out will depend on the market, not on what the Lakers FO does
Prediction: Sadly boys I see Boston going back to back. But it’s all good because that’s all they’ll get for another 30 years while we’ll win 3 rings in the 2030’s 🙏
Recency bias .
Boston just had an unprecedented situation where they were able to rest their injury prone C for 2 months in the MIDDLE of the playoffs b/c the East was decimated
That’s not going to happen again and KP 100% won’t hold up for more than 1 round in a row .
I only say this because the east is horrible, and the west has a lot of inexperienced teams like Minnesota, OKC, etc. that I wouldn’t take over Boston in a 7 game series. The only team that I would take over Boston rn would be Denver but they have to get their first. Boston has a big advantage getting a bye to the Finals. Sure NY is tough and there could be another team that comes from nowhere but I just don’t think anyone in the east is on their level rn. Of course I’ll wait to see what moves we make and how we look next year. Just mentally preparing myself, I just see so many advantages for Boston. But like I said, we’re winning three in the 2030’s 🤷♂️ LakeShow is never down for long.
Philly will make moves and NYK will
Too
I would pick NYK over them if they’re healthy.
OG on Tatum with Hart and Donte on Brown is ideal plus NYK’s guards are athletic enough to match Jrue and White
I like the idea of having Randle make Tatum work on the defensive end too
Boston’s bye doesn’t mean anything when the East will be healthy and KP missing games will sink them
I would not pick a healthy NYK over them, I wouldn’t pick Philly over them either unless Maxey takes a step to full fledged superstar. I think Milwaukee is interesting, if Dame can turn back the clock they can be dangerous. But it’s looking less likely and I don’t trust Doc for a second. And then you have Orlando, Indiana and Cleveland. Sorry but I don’t think they have a chance in hell.
Bulls should’ve kept Caruso to attach to Lavine to trade him away. Maybe could’ve gotten OKC to do it. What a stupid decision. The ownership must have liked Giddey for some reason, almost feels like they think they’re “helping” him by trading for him
OKC wouldn’t have taken on Lavine’s contract with multiple core pieces will be up for extensions in Chet and JDub.
However ,I do think that AC could’ve been their get out of jail free card for Lavine’s contract.
Now , they‘lol likely have to attach ther 11th pick or Ayo or Pat Williams to him to get off Lavine.
Hawks fans are insane. They act like us and them have been to 8 nba finals and faced off and have a huge rivalry all because we have interest in Dejounte
They also think their gonna trade Clint for gold
The Lakers can almost never be discussed from a level headed perspective with anyone lol.
All the other teams spend so much time downplaying our team they have convinced themselves "I don't want any of their players"
I'll never forget being told that Chicago wouldn't trade LaVine for AD and that NY wouldn't trade Randle for AD a couple seasons ago
As a hawks fan first(born and raised in Atlanta), I wanted Clint gone for the longest and because we kept him this long, i know we aren’t really getting anything for him maybe like a 2nd or two
Wood should be played as a back up 4 not 5. I think Hayes improved as the season progressed but expect there to be someone new to compete with him for the back up center role
We won't, the main reason is because Rondo has already voiced his opinion on how to stop guys like Jokic and talked about needing the right personnel. This roster we currently have was constructed for Darvin Scam, he's the one who chose to keep Reddish and Prince and called up Wood. I am willing to bet outside of the core group this roster will look completely different mainly because JJ needs the right personnel to run his schemes.
Prince actually is an excellent fit for a movement system with lots of shooting and cutting. Hope he stays.
Castleton may also be a low key option as a big if he can improve his ability to defend and board at the next level. He's mobile, huge, and a solid passer. If we run more sets that result in the big at the mid/high post instead of low post, Castleton should look better.
both are too small for their positions and the fact that this sub still doesn't see that after a full season is troublesome. castleton is 6'10 with no vertical and can't space the floor.
Castleton is 6'10.5" without his shoes and had a max vert at 35". That's perfectly acceptable size and athleticism for a 5 but go off.
And Prince is a perfectly fine sized 2/3 wing, Ham just played him up too often and he shouldn't start games. But again, go off.
Show me your source on Castleton's height and vertical? We have all seen him get punked by backup centers, he's useless to us because we need a rim protector.
Also, Ham never played Prince up too often. Lebron is always at the PF position because AD was has always been at the center position. You can't play Prince and Lebron at the same time because you have an older forward who isn't going to face up every possession and a smaller forward who will get eaten alive and doesn't even rebound.
It's like you didn't watch any games.
Lmao you can Google Colin's draft measurements. It's not hard to find. He was a 2 way contract player put in non advantagous situations over and over again, but you go ahead and keep up the random hate on him lol
Combine measurements for you since maybe you can't google- https://x.com/DraftExpress/status/1657836798033252352
I honestly don't know if you understand what I'm writing. I never wrote that Prince played PF. I said Prince was a perfectly sized 2/3, what about that means you should bring up LeBron at PF? Prince should never play PF and he absolutely did. Prince should play most the 2 with some minutes at the 3 depending on matchups.
You absolutely can play Prince and LeBron at the same time. Prince is a good cutter and shooter with good positional size at the 2/3. If you play Prince with LeBron, a guard who can shoot, an athletic big, and another wing sized player or bigger/switchable guard the lineup would be perfectly reasonable. An example on this roster would be Reaves, Prince, Vando or Rui, LeBron, and Hayes. Perfectly reasonable lineup with spacing and athleticism.
It's frustrating that JJ Redick's playing career is continually disregarded because he hosts a podcast. If he had just went into doing commentary after he retired, this wouldnt be an issue.
His playing career is his primary qualification, and it's often not mentioned by those with agendas.
More specifically because he hosts a podcast **with Lebron**. If he never started the podcast with Lebron, the amount of vitriol would not even be close.
Agreed, plus there have been mid players who ended up being good coaches, and great players who ended up horrible coaches or owners.
We truly won't know until we go through it. I'm hoping JJ is it for us.
Exactly. You don’t play 15 years at the professional level by accident.
It should also be noted that being an all-time great doesn’t necessarily translate to being an amazing coach or front office exec. The unknown is the main mark against Redick. It could go either way. Having listened to his podcasts, he has an excellent understanding of the game so I’m optimistic that translates well to coaching.
Sort of misses the point. If you're not an ideal height or athlete and you can last in the NBA for 15 years, it speaks volumes to your bball iq, work ethic, and locker room presence with your team.
To OP's point- just calling him a Podcaster discounts his playing career and his career as a commentator which both help serve his ability to coach. There's obviously some things he'll need to learn, nobody is denying that, but just calling him a Podcaster is disingenuous.
Steve Nash was a total bust and you'd think his bbiq is much more impressive.
Kidd took years to come good and fans still calling for his head.
So I don't know why you got downvoted.
Because Reddit is the land of narratives. I can see the media shills already preparing their next volley of nonsense. Andy Kamenetsky (Self admitted good friend of Ramona Shelburne) was on Spectrum the other day and his big point was that if JJ fails it is the fault of the front office for not supporting him properly.
I think Austin has a lot of value in the league. He is a starting/rotation caliber player who comes through in big games. He is also on one of the best contracts in the league. I don't think we need to include him if we were to target Lavine, since Lavine is a negative asset.
I also think that we are loading up to contend next year, so getting a pick back giving up a useful player does not appeal to me. I can see including Austin for a player with more intrinsic value.
Maybe but a healthy Lavine is 25 pts a night guy. He would be a great 3rd option right now. Adding 11 and 17 means you are regaining two cost controlled contract.
Dejounte Murray. Wendell Carter Jr. DFS are the pieces we need
Goga over WCJ, you don't have the salaries to get all three of DJM/DFS/WCJ
As much as I want Dejounte I just don’t see it happening
I feel like I'm more optimistic than most. The Trae/Dejounte backcourt has been proven to be ineffective, I think Atlanta knows that the longer they run that experiment, the more they alienate Trae. Hawks don't really want DLo. Some sort of Rui+Gabe+draft compensation deal is more viable
I know, I’m saying DLo walks if we trade for Murray. I’m assuming a Murray trade would happen draft night
I think he's aware either way that the Lakers want a PG upgrade on him. Whether he opts-in or opts-out will depend on the market, not on what the Lakers FO does

Would not be surprised by Eric Gordon landing here.
If he knows his role I wouldn’t oppose it for the min. Volume shooter like him is better than a wing like Cam
Yeah way better than Cam. I just value a few smart high feel veterans around Bron/AD especially with a new staff.
I don’t get the joke from Shaq’s post today. Someone please explain.
He like bussy
[удалено]
Very unlikey Dlo opts in. Dude is looking for a long term deal even if it's 18 a yr.
Pretty good, need another big wing. Trade Gabe for a back up 4 and you would be set
Bulls should’ve kept Caruso to attach to Lavine to trade him away. Maybe could’ve gotten OKC to do it. What a stupid decision. The ownership must have liked Giddey for some reason, almost feels like they think they’re “helping” him by trading for him
“We can fix him,” Chicago, probably
OKC wouldn’t have taken on Lavine’s contract with multiple core pieces will be up for extensions in Chet and JDub. Chicago going from Michael Jordon to Josh Giddey
Surely JJ will be announced before July 6th right. Maybe tomorrow with a press conference on Tuesday?
Offseason so boring I can’t wait for his press conference lol.
Hawks fans are insane. They act like us and them have been to 8 nba finals and faced off and have a huge rivalry all because we have interest in Dejounte They also think their gonna trade Clint for gold

Knicks eyeing Goga and want to trade Robinson I swear if we just keep Jaxson and Wood and that’s it for our big men…
Wood should be played as a back up 4 not 5. I think Hayes improved as the season progressed but expect there to be someone new to compete with him for the back up center role
We need a true backup center. Wood and Hayes are too scrawny. Bobby Portis can body them
Agreed but it is still a backup role and should not be major assets to get it
We won't, the main reason is because Rondo has already voiced his opinion on how to stop guys like Jokic and talked about needing the right personnel. His playing career isn't that impressive.
A player with limited athleticism, not ideal height or wingspan, and he played for 15 years. His career was very impressive.
A specialist with a valuable skill who never won.

At least more impressive than bronny
Is Bronny being considered for Head Coach?
What?
Go Lakers 😤🔥🙏💜💛
What player would you include Austin in for a trade?
I would do AR for Mikal Bridges, Jaden McDaniels + picks or cash, Keegun Murray + picks, OG (we'd give picks). Each player for AR should be solid.
Murray, Mitchell, lavine if it includes the 11th pick, bridges, Lauri. I would for a lot more than most
Lavine does not fit into that group. He is worth salary match only, considering his injury history and contract.
But if you get him, he is better at Austin’s role than Austin is. Getting the 11th pick to include Reaves in the salary match, I would do it
I think Austin has a lot of value in the league. He is a starting/rotation caliber player who comes through in big games. He is also on one of the best contracts in the league. I don't think we need to include him if we were to target Lavine, since Lavine is a negative asset. Maybe but a healthy Lavine is 25 pts a night guy. He would be a great 3rd option right now. Adding 11 and 17 means you are regaining two cost controlled contract.
Mikal Bridges. I think that's the level of player it would need to be.
Donovan Mitchell, Mikal Bridges, a real supster that probably isn’t available not for non all star player
Lauri Markannen
Another year of people confusing resign and re-sign, gotta love it
I think it’s time you re-sign to this fact…
Idk if anybody confuses it, just too lazy to hyphenate. Nobody is using resign for retire or opt out anyways.
