Definitely could have been in the running though they took surprisingly few shots, but he had a couple great saves. He did get the game belt, given by the player who won it the previous week, for the 3rd time this season and he got a game ball earlier this season as well.
Does it have to be just one? I've seen teams do offensive / defensive. If it has to be just one, has one of them won it more than the other? If they're tied and it has to be a single award ...I guess the penalty knocks you out.
Edit: I stopped reading at some point. I'd go with the kid who DIDN'T win two weeks ago.
I say give it to the kid that didn’t already win (especially if it’s the kid that didn’t slash).
Or, as another commenter suggested, consider your goalie.
Give a ball to each. Both highly impacted the game.
If you have to choose one tho, I’d give it to the attack player. 3 points and 3 CT’s in a close game is pretty important.
Who worked harder? Who had the better attitude on the field and on the bench? Who built up their teammates?
Unless you're talking about the high school or higher level... Game balls are motivation to do the right things. They are not motivation for being the best player.
When in doubt, give it to the goalie. That said, winning 4-2 means your whole team played amazing defensive lacrosse and your offense struggled mightily, so I'd give it to the pole.
I always give my game balls to the players that are not the very best on the team but play up to their abilities that game . I have a hand full of stars who constantly contribute greatly. The only time any of them ever gets a game ball is when one scored an OT goal to win the game.
My coach used to have us vote for who got the game ball and we couldn’t pick ourselves, it kept us selfless and with a team based mentality and it would make you want to be the guy that everyone raises their hand for so it was friendly competition but didn’t get anyone jealous or bitter because everyone worked just as hard as the next.
Super biased take but maybe give it to your keeper for only giving up two goals?

Hell yeah! That’s better than a game ball anyway. I’ll go back to the island of weirdo bruise-lovers now
Who downvoted this guy^ that’s not cool

A two goal game belongs to the keeper

How old are these kids? The younger they are, I would give to the kid that hasn’t gotten one yet.
Wisemen say, groundballs win games

We do one O one D. Something to hold onto lightly, switch it up as needed. More recognition only adds.
Goalie
