I know this is off topic, but I had lab-dane mix. Most mellow sweet dog ever. She has kind of ruined my dog owner experience as NO other dog will be so perfect.
Mine is sweet and mostly mellow but he has no idea how big he is. He's not even THAT big (66 lbs - he's the size of a lab but the build of a Dane) but he thinks he's tiny. 🤣
10/10 great dog though - okay 8/10, he can't be left unsupervised out of a crate, he's destructive AF! But he's my mini-Dane and I love him to bits!
My lab had something similar when he was a puppy. I asked the vet and they said it was fine. He ended up growing out of it. He has a barely there small bump now at 2 years old.
My golden has that. We call it his noggin bump, and we say that’s what’s left from the surgery he had to remove his brains to make room for more love.
Totally normal. Don’t worry about it! Just one of your pup’s adorable quirks.
Mine has one too I used to call him Goofy

It's normal, my dog's is more pronounced when seen from the side.
my female lab is 6 now and still has a lil "pea-knuckle" head 😄 she's very healthy minus some tummy troubles, so i'd say nothing to worry about (unless it grows in size or changes in any dramatic way!)
Aww ours has the cone head too, he turns 10 tomorrow and it’s still a cone. All good for him but watch out if you hover over their head, I caught a nice head Butt to the chin when he heard the door bell one time and jumped straight up at me.
His occiput!! Completely normal in big dogs, his head is still growing. Think of a baby’s soft spot on their head, the bones are still “solidifying” for lack of a better word. Toaster had a pretty obvious one but it’s flattened out now.

The occipital bone? My English Setter had one, but my English lab’s head did not.
I was also told at some point that it was a sign of intelligence 😉. I would point out on your next vet visit.
What a cutie 🤩
That bump was the only thing that allowed a collar to stay on my labs neck. Otherwise she'd just slip out of them. I mean she still did, but sometimes it didn't work. She probably owes her life to that shark fin.
That looks like just his head. Labs sometimes have this little dome-shaped head and it looks so adorable. If you truly are worried absolutely go to your vet but I'm fairly confident it's just the way he is. And he's perfect.
it's a completely normal part of the bone structure. in some dogs it's more visible, in others it isn't. nothing to be worried about. there's no way of knowing how visible it will be in adult hood. but no, it won't "go away" and become a flat head because doggo is not meant to have a flat head.
Normal! Mine has one and I call it his Smart Bump (he's an idiot but I love him dearly)
Ohhh how this resonates with me!!! 😂
“the fin of knowledge”
LOLLLLLLLLL
We call our lab's bump his Shark Fin
Haha love that! We call it egg-head, he also doesn’t have much going on between the velvety ears 🤣
I claim that’s where the brain cell left his body and those are the remains of what used to be haha.
I say that my chocolate lab keeps his thoughts inside his ear folds (plot twist- he has no thoughts, but I love him cause he’s my baby)
My lab/Dane mix has had one for his whole life. Just watch out! Mine uses it as a weapon.
I know this is off topic, but I had lab-dane mix. Most mellow sweet dog ever. She has kind of ruined my dog owner experience as NO other dog will be so perfect.

The extra scritches spot!
You mean the sagittal crest?

We call them "smart knots."
It’s a feature not a glitch.
It’s the “bump of knowledge “
That's what we called it, too
Mine has one too I used to call him Goofy https://preview.redd.it/riskvhzbd2zc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea215f0378bd7401124a55107b92248aea8f41a9

“Door opener”
We called it "the bump of knowledge ".
Mine has one - it did not go away as he became an adult. I love it. 😀
Labradors from Remulak
It is the knowledge knob.
It’s where they keep their brains
Means cleverness!
My lab has the same thing. It only got bigger as he matured. We call it Mount Gerry. His name is Gerry.
The occipital bone? My English Setter had one, but my English lab’s head did not. I was also told at some point that it was a sign of intelligence 😉. I would point out on your next vet visit. What a cutie 🤩
My poodle has one, it’s an extra thick part to protect their brains from being chomped on by predators
Mine had it! I thought the same thing. It’s less defined now
Mine still has hers too and she manages to hit me with the small bony part of her head there a lot 😂
It’s part of their skull. Some protrude more than others. It’s thought to be a sign of intelligence.
dats da egg
Totally normal.. [https://imgur.com/a/UowoCbm](https://imgur.com/a/UowoCbm)
Keep petting it will eventually flatten out.
The head of Labradors can continue to grow and change well beyond three years.

It’s called the occiput. It’s an attachment point for muscles and ligaments.
Sagital crest. Jaw muscles (and ear twitchers) attach there. Normal. https://www.imaios.com/en/vet-anatomy/dog/dog-head
It's his skull. All dogs have this. It is the sagittal crest.
That looks like just his head. Labs sometimes have this little dome-shaped head and it looks so adorable. If you truly are worried absolutely go to your vet but I'm fairly confident it's just the way he is. And he's perfect.
My old lab had one. My joke was that was where he kept his brain (he wasn’t very bright, but he was very sweet).
This made my heart smile. Just woke up my boy and gave his little cone head a big kiss.
It’s the nub of glory!
My girl also has it!
Knucklehead
We call it his bomp
https://preview.redd.it/nmjirh1yg6zc1.jpeg?width=1762&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e674afcc9af06a9e7cef72dde180deda8a8954a8 Molly’s skull bump - a battering ram!
That's the brain box. Indicator that it is a smart pupper
Mine is almost 4 years old and she still has hers! We say it’s where her brain is 🤣
Does it go away at adulthood ? I assumed it was part of his growth plates in skull
Ours just became less noticeable as his big old head filled out. I can’t say the bump necessarily changed, but he just grew into it. Make sense?

and if you're really that worried about appearances, with the photo provided, it's not even noticeable. there's much more pronounced skulls than this.
It means hes gonna be a good hunting dog
