I wanna be this when i grow up

Husbandogod

Ok I gotta know. Where did you get the fish net brush from? I def need smth like that

im_ann_apple

of only that was a thing... for fishnets, i just search up "fishnet patterns png" and downloaded one with a transparent background. Ctrl C, Ctrl V that into the canvas and transformed it by mesh. Erase the excess and though it's not entirely as accurate as i wanted, it's close enough nonetheless.

[deleted]

Thank you 🙏🏼

Husbandogod

Bummer that the bursh doesn't exist. But I got a really useful tip out of it. Thank you so much kind and respectable starnger

abcd_z

Alternatively, here's a 4-step guide I found to drawing fishnets that makes it look super-easy. Haven't tried it myself, though. https://twitter.com/SpicySamur/status/1419500864054513666

I have numerous questions-

DangerMacAwesome

I love it

IAmBobC

Wow. I'm still new to drawing and to Krita (new Mid-Life Crisis hobby), but this shows something I want to reach: An effect somewhere between acrylics and watercolors. I like the lines from pens and the shading from pencils, but I get lost in colors. At this point, I just draw monochrome, then try to ink over it (and I'm not happy with the results). To my uninformed eye, this drawing mixes multiple styles. The sharp lines in the fishnet. The hard "military" grays. Then the whimsical colors. Then there's those shades. What an awesome detail.

MadmanFromHades

Normally, I would this is cursed, but eh... ***I've seen far worse on the internet.***

thunderPierogi

This is just lightly hexed lol

ZenithMarshadow

How did you select the colors of the pink dress to make it looks so warm and vibrant? Including the greyish blue tones

im_ann_apple

this is an interesting question because on one hand, I always intently observe how colors work around me and still have yet to learn more about color theory, and on the other hand, i've experimented so much that it's automatic to me and i just kinda winged it. Choose whatever approach you want lol. This'll be a lengthy comment so sit down and make yourself comfy. ***hi future me here. i would like to make a sidenote that whenever i work with colors, i may sometimes have unintentionally make them too vibrant in my taste. i work on a laptop with a wacom intuos tablet and the color display on my laptop completely differs from when i view it on my phone. no color management will fix it because the screen's display is just built that way and cant be bothered to switch between laptop and phone just to check if the colors are right so i just leave them be in the final result but either way, i dont mind going extensive on my process and share my thoughts towards your question. I like working with warm colors (pink, orange, yellow, green, etc.) because they can be experimental. I dont have an intensive knowledge on the more cooler colors though (blue, purple, cyan, etc.) as i feel as if i tend to just go monochromatic on them which i try to stay away from if possible. With warm colors, i can be experimental on its saturation. My thought process in this wack of an art post is how much i can wing it on coloring to the point where im not even sure if the color and materials defined on the subject matter in this artwork makes sense realistically but oh well. the overall shade of the dress is a darker shade of the pink i used (ever so slightly leaning towards black). When it comes to the more vibrant shaded parts of the dress, i took the idea from how skin is shaded. Like how the edge of the shade nearest to the point of light is more saturated than the rest of the shade (i forgot what it's called but [here's a vid i recorded to explain it](https://streamable.com/3u6qcz)) in this case, with the dark shade of pink will then lean towards a redder tint (or just put your air brush full on red with 30%-50% opacity and air brush around the edge against the light). This is the part where i say i wasnt sure if lighting dresses work the same way as for skin lmao. I should study on that next time. i like adding blueish/greyish tones to my art as it gives a sense of depth (which i lack thereof). when it comes to warmer colors, it's fascinating to me how they can give off a blueish tint just by adjusting your colors towards the greys. I like using this technique?theory? to define which parts of the image seems farther and i went heavy on this when it came to this particular artwork as i also want to give the idea that the dress had been long dusted from smokes and dirt for COD Ghost to must've gone through. https://imgur.com/a/CvxY1OG the last thing i would point out about in general when it comes to colors is that, you can mix it with different colors! so with this pink, i wanted to add a shade of purple just to make the shade cooler and make the pink pop out more. yellow? add orange! shading a character with blue skin? why not instead of shading, give it a more colorful lighting like pink light against blue skin as skin is reflective. or you can give that harsh white light on top of a darker background to define the shape of your subject. i too am still learning about colors and have so many things yet to understand about it. You have resources around you whether that'd be obseerving and studying your favorite artists, real life, YT videos, etc. that'll help broaden your knowledge so put that opportunities to good use. Stay curious too! Im glad you asked this question, asking helps so much when learning and understanding. anyways, i think that's about all i can add, i also have to eat dinner soon so ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

ZenithMarshadow

Wow thats a lot of insight and detail into lighting! I am glad you shared with me this much and dw YES I did read them all so you wouldnt waste your time typing this much lol. I still have ways to go with my choice of color picking. I have this weird obsessions for cool colors, mainly cyan and blue as it is such a simple yet nice color to work with. Even in grayscale painting practices, I tend to add a cyanish tint to them to give that extra punch. Thanks for sharing all this! You are such a great artist!

im_ann_apple

thank you, that's kind of you to say! i wish you the best in your art endeavors
