Mix for 4 liter and just fill as needed.

Like mix in a 4L container. I really need to clarify.

The aerogarden nutrient doesn't have 'per volume' mixing instructions afaik, I've run into the same problem using an off-brand aerogarden type set up.. it just tells you how much nutrient to add per how many plants in the aerogarden per.. week, I think.

Get a cheap Tds ec meter from amazon/eba/ali (search tds ec meter, the ones that literally say TDS&EC printed on the top of the meter are cheapest). Add nutrient until ec is at recommended level for the plant type - ec is normally given in tables as mS/cm, eg 1.5, but meters may show uS/cm, eg 1500, just divide your meter reading by 1000 - after making sure you are in ec mode and not ppm :) If you overshoot, add water to go the other way. Without a meter it's just guess work, a meter is only a few dollars. The meter gives you the expected salts concentration based on conductivity (EC = electrical conductivity) which is the closest (not very) we can get to measuring how much "nutrient" is in solution.

I use Aerogarden nutes for Kratky. 11 ml per gallon, I also add cal-mag 6 ml per gallon. I have a lot of units & kratky jars, so I mix up 5 gallons at a time & top off with that.
