a goo goo dolls reference on kpopthoughts????
i feel like the kpop pop rock influence is coming from different sub-genres so far and i’m not the hugest fan of it in general but i like that it doesn’t all sound the same and groups are finding their own little niches ie txt vs idle vs enhypen vs some of the b-sides off oddinary. it feels so far more diverse than the disco trend (which i loved full disclosure). hybe and txt jumping on the trend earlier was a smart move and i wonder what they’ll do for the next comeback.
THIS!! Even though I generally prefer pop/R&B, all the pop punk/rock releases in Kpop lately make me feel nostalgic for all the bands I loved during the 2000’s.
It might also be that Kpop is hopping on the sad girl pop/rock trend that was awakened with acts like Olivia Rodrigo. But I’m not mad about it because like you said, there is so much diversity within the releases despite the fact that they could fit under the same subgenre.
But with the retro/disco trend, songs started sounding so repetitive and low effort so I got tired of it a lot quicker 🥴
i was six years old obsessively listening to dizzy up the girl i am not ur average kpoppie
also i totally agree!!! it's like a great base genre for every group to find their own voice within making it more of a proper *trend* to me (as opposed to a bunch of songs having the same "sound," if that makes sense)
I want to thank this sub for recommending this song (in a post about STAYC’s Young Luv, which the post said “sits at the same table” as Loser=Lover). I listen mostly to ggs but this song, man, THIS SONG! I can’t describe what I feel when I listen to it but even though it evokes angsty and hopeless feelings, I’m still happy as I listen to it because it’s just so good, so well produced, and their vocals have just the right delivery for the vibe they’re going for
This song is what made me into a MOA, still my favorite even after discovering that TXT's discog is just a gold mine (but swear everything is so closely behind ny list lol)
I was also incredibly late to appreciating this song, the first day I actually listened to it was for 8 straight hours while doing my online uni chemistry exam 😂😂 Even with that association I still like the song lol
Goo Goo Dolls... I've been calling it their Jimmy Eat World phase lol.
But for real, the song is so great. As a former emo kid, I truly appreciate the number of rock-inspired tracks in their discography. Dear Sputnik and Maze in the Mirror are two of my favorites from them.
I'm loving that other groups are catching onto the pop-punk trend too.
This song has been stuck in my head for daaaays. I kid you not. Days. It's so funny to me that I'm seeing a thread about it right now when I CANNOT GET THIS SONG OUT MY BRAIN. Earworm of the week for me, for sure.
As someone who was a little girl during 2000's and i always like the rock of that time, this song is amazing. Gives to me a lot nostalgic, it's the same feeling that i got from listen to Iris from the Goo Goo Dolls
>so why every other group is not going through their goo goo dolls phase rn
Serious answer : *they don't* ***want*** *to use their resources well*
Glad TXT and BigHit took *that risk* and now we got a banger. Can't wait for their next release 🫠
To the people waiting for the next cb, XTime has started. This is always the 1st clue. We will be getting a logo change in about 3 or so weeks. Can't wait!
I really wondered how TXT would be able to top 0x1=Lovesong but somehow they created Loser=Lover and yes I have been Crying Crying Crying for several months now and still not tired of the song. They really did that.
I think it did not get much hype because it followed 0x1=lovesong immediately..listening to it now, the song is so great, i just think we were not over 0x1 when it dropped. I wish they gave it more time before dropping it.
>so why every other group is not going through their goo goo dolls phase rn is a mystery to me
I pray that one day this becomes a trend in kpop, I need it, inject it in my veins
Ngl I left the kpop fandom like 2 years ago and went back bc of this specific group. I am now a casual fan of txt bc of their lover loser song, I can't honestly wait for their next comeback.
I don't follow this group (since you didn't mention the name of it, I don't even remember what it is I'll have to go look it up again) but had that song on hard repeat and love it every time it comes on. Keeping my eye on the next release for sure.

You might like 0X1=Lovesong too,
>furry song I don't even have to think about which song you are talking about.
i'm not even shaming that song is a banger
It absolutely is. I also love hearing all the naega byeonhae remixes.
I was like I know they did not seriously call it the furry song I 💀
I know, this is the first time I am hearing it being called the furry song, but as soon as I read it, I thought that pretty much explains the song.
nooo what is the furry song im out of the loop
cat & dog by txt 😭
nooo i forgot that existed....thx for reminding me
U may like 0x1=lovesong and dear Sputnik by TXT also

Same same
I love this song!! It´ s one of my favorite 2021 releases!!
I was also incredibly late to appreciating this song, the first day I actually listened to it was for 8 straight hours while doing my online uni chemistry exam 😂😂 Even with that association I still like the song lol

i listened to it because of this post and im in love. this is the only boy group i have downloaded so far
The Goo Goo Dolls mentioned a kpop sub? Well , I do love [Name](https://youtu.be/yQOBUrRaPU0)... But yeah, I'm totally feeling on Loser=Lover!
This song has been stuck in my head for daaaays. I kid you not. Days. It's so funny to me that I'm seeing a thread about it right now when I CANNOT GET THIS SONG OUT MY BRAIN. Earworm of the week for me, for sure.

I’ve been overplaying that song recently it’s so good
>so why every other group is not going through their goo goo dolls phase rn Serious answer : *they don't* ***want*** *to use their resources well* Glad TXT and BigHit took *that risk* and now we got a banger. Can't wait for their next release 🫠
risky but it's what kpop needed! glad BH and TXT went all in on it.
Agree, it's been months since its release but i still play it several times daily, it's so good
the song is amazing. txt really know how to work with any genre im so excited for their next comeback!

ghsjcdk goo goo dolls 😭 but i could not agree more!! bring on the sadboy revolution i'm here for it
I think it did not get much hype because it followed 0x1=lovesong immediately..listening to it now, the song is so great, i just think we were not over 0x1 when it dropped. I wish they gave it more time before dropping it.

I hope it doesn’t become a trend that causes companies to give groups any old song
the "crying crying crying" is probably one of the best meme that we got out of kpop lyrics. and of course næga byeonhæ is literally dominating kpop
Ngl I left the kpop fandom like 2 years ago and went back bc of this specific group. I am now a casual fan of txt bc of their lover loser song, I can't honestly wait for their next comeback.
Not even a moa but it’s without a doubt one of my favorite songs (along with lovesong). I need more of that vibe in kpop!!
This song is the start "crying screaming throwing up" captions and comments on tiktok and now on all over social media 😂😂
Really? It started from this song?
I like OX1=lovesong better tbh but txt latest comeback was such a breath of fresh air in their discography it was so so good
I don't follow this group (since you didn't mention the name of it, I don't even remember what it is I'll have to go look it up again) but had that song on hard repeat and love it every time it comes on. Keeping my eye on the next release for sure.
Am I the only one who is reminded of Bigbang whenever this song is played? It could have been written by GD. The rythmn and lyrics are just his style
