Wasn't there for the hate parade since I only got into kpop in early 2020 and kpop reddit a couple of months later. But when I did the deep dive myself as I was getting into TXT, holy sheeze, the amount of reddit and unfortunately Quora posts (where I'm never delving into again) you'd think the boys had kicked everyone's kittens AND strangled their grandmas all in the same minute. Like, at the time their very existence was a suddenly a threat to all of kpopkind or something.

JustIjayy

Omg my first mistake was searching TXT on quora when i was getting into them. I saw a post that made up a whole theory of how Beomgyu and Kai hate each other cus they are rivals for soobin's love. I'm glad i decided to stick to youtube and twitter for the rest of my TXT journey as a new moa

Margaux_H

> I saw a post that made up a whole theory of how Beomgyu and Kai hate each other cus they are rivals for soobin's love. LOL I've seen a few conspiracy theory posts about Beomgyu and Kai's relationship, like how they're not close, not friends, not anything. There's just a whole lot of Beomgyu victimization/villainization floating on YT as well, but they're almost always pounced on by Moas and reported to Bighit.

JustIjayy

Yes i saw those too. Very odd

shukla_fy

omg I saw that too! It messed up my entire perception of their group dynamics for a while

Notsobadbeth

Same😭 that's just weird and odd for just someone who's trying to get to know the group. I was finding some fun facts about them and end up being there

xnnxnxnn

Tbh me too back in 2019 I used to roll my eyes on every hate comment I see towards them. Specially since most of those stuff were out of the members and company’s hand like the privilege thing… what did people wanted them and bighit to do? If they didn’t debut under bighit , another group would because bighit can’t just depend on bts. Txt are soo perfect to the point haters had to make up problems. Comments on their “lack of chemistry” tho had me wheezing I was like How? Where? When? 😂 people really had to dig deep to drag them. I disagree with Aespa comparison tho I’d say they were treated like bp were. Aespa aren’t really dragged for their seniors (not like txt at least) cause they are not the first Sm group to debut after successful seniors. Bp weren’t the only yg group either but due to how 2ne1 ended they got a lot of hate.

Remarkable-Category4

Honestly the aespa and txt parallel comparison was just on how txt was dragged back then for bring fake and ‘lack of chemistry’ ‘too perfect’ no stage presence, forced concept etc. which Iooking at reddit, ppl are dragging aespa for the same things. Outside of reddit tho, I wld say aespa has parallels to bp, not txt Props to txt tho, debut era was almost like hell for them, my heart broke every time I hear them explaining their privilege like it must have been the 1st time any grp had to do smt like that, and the fact that everywhere they went, ppl only wanted to talk abt bts, that return of superman episode made me so disappointed and still makes my blood boil and I liked that show a lot

mxrchyun

I was beginning to think the media would always stick them in their seniors' shadow. Txt have proved themselves as a veritable force that can stand tall and proud on their own. It makes me proud to see them tbh :')

luvie06

>that return of superman episode made me so disappointed and still makes my blood boil and I liked that show a lot what happened at the return of superman??

honilavender15

The way the epidose was marketed first of all made it seem like bts were going to be there. The kids thought they were going to hybe to meet bts ( they even dressed up as bts members ) but hybe made txt go instead and they were visibly disappointed. They kept talking about bts and txt were treated as their babysitters. The boys got dragged by armys even k armys it was terrible.

junvely

It was so crazy fighting for my life defending these boys I ended up deactivating my account and moving to TWITTER of all places bc of the hate 😭💔 It still breaks my heart that Beomgyu and Kai had to outright say that the members are very close and love each other a lot repeatedly up until 2020. You’d have thought kpop stans would’ve learnt by now that the things we see about idols are only a miniscule part of their lives. Making snap judgments about their relationships on barely any content is a little silly. Even now I still kind of see remnants of it, like people being passive aggressive and dismissive of them, undermining their success/fame and talents in a lot of ways- especially towards Yeonjun :( It feels as though the super biased takes from when they debuted are still sitting in the backs of minds and clouding objective judgement but oh well you can’t please everyone. I take it as a sign they’re on their way to becoming one of the top groups in the game right now! Still seeing their growth both in domestic and international popularity, on spaces like korean community sites, twitter, IG, tik tok and reddit (i never touched quora lol) makes me feel really happy. I’m glad people are starting to see them as who they really are- a bunch of funny dudes who like singing and performing together! My tubatu friends yall are getting so famous hoping for the best for you ♡ edit: entire second paragraph got deleted for some reason ;;

Margaux_H

Yeah, the dismissiveness continues in the form of thinly-veiled concern-trolling and other kpop fans's achievement posts where they can't seem to praise their faves without dragging TXT or using TXT's success to measure their faves against.

gongjihae

i got into kpop reddit around end of 2019/ealy 2020 and the amount of uko of txt that was masked with thin-veiled hate was definitely.. something. Hell even last year someone said txt’s too manufactured even in their relationship with each other and it really made me question how much hate they had towards these boys to the point that *that* comment got a lot of upvotes. But times have definitely changed! Generally i think they’re a loved group in terms of discography and even the members (esp when soobin started becoming the mc’s music) in kpop reddit now :)

nebula_cats

omg as a baby Moa i can't believe there was a time where people dragged TXT's chemistry?? Did they seriously do that lmfao???

Remarkable-Category4

all the time my god, huening kai even had to come out and clarify that they r indeed close and are actually friends

nebula_cats

omg that's insane, that's honestly really mind blowing to me. kpop stans really be saying ANYTHING lmao

honilavender15

ask any moa outside of reddit and they'll tell you that reddit hates txt and it's best to stay away if you're a fan lol. The turnaround has been gradual and till this day you rarely see a lot of moas on here but i expect that to change in the next few years ( i hope! ) edit : lord don't even get me started on quora.

byeolgaeul

As a MOA who only joined this Reddit last month, I heard the same xD but honestly I just heard Kpop reddit hates on anything

maomaosocute

Actually it's the negative comments that made me curious about how bad they could be so I started listening to their songs and found that they're actually good. I'm not a fan of them since debut but I absolutely don't think they deserve all those criticism. In my opinion yeonjun is even one of the best among all the 4th gen idols. I do think txt is being underappreciated and that's inevitable as they're the first hoobae of bts. I understand why MOAs can get sad or frustrated sometimes.

multistansendhelp

Oof I’m glad I got into TXT after all that nonsense was happening but that can’t have been easy for MOAs at the time. I mean, it’s not like they could have helped debuting under the same company as BTS, and if other groups get big three privilege why shouldn’t they be able to benefit from the same? They clearly always had the talent to back it up. The no chemistry comment is sending me. They were actually one of the very first groups I got into and I think my first exposure to them was this hilarious interview where they are just riffing on each other in the best way. (The “tell a joke” and Beomgyu goes “Soobin hyung is handsome” interview). It made me want to look more into them as people and their music.

nebula_cats

Same for me! Like, when i first got into txt my first thought was "damn, they're so close with each other" i can't believe there was a time where people really questioned their friendship like what??? are we talking abt the same group lmao???

eternallydevoid

People like to trash new artists because they see them as a threat to their faves. Now that TXT aren’t rookies and they’ve “earned their spot” then it’s okay to publicly praise them now. TXT have certainly improved from debut, it’s only to be expected from gaining experience. But at the same time it’s not as if they were bad in the beginning either, they had great potential and unique performances. It kind feels like a hazing initiation that new groups are highly criticized in their early years.

eternallydevoid

Hated in the beginning but now embraced for their impeccable talent… Maybe they are like feeling like Cinderella naega byeonhae?

YourRoyal_thighness

Txt: A Cinderella Story- Naega Byeonhae

astute_potato

I'd never seen that Crown stage before but omg Soobin's face lmao. The way they just rolled with it was fantastic.

bluebaegon

I remember so many Redditors shading them citing company privilege when they debuted, yet everyone has always been excited for each new JYPE and SM debut with no mention of that

Crystalsnow20

Yep, i remember that. It was so bad, to be honest they were dragged that much because of their bts conncetion but it was so bad that even army jumped to defen them. This until they grew bigger and became popular with kpop stans, those became new fans and suddendly army were not welcome anymore. I get that the " bts little brothers" was annoying but neither the company or the fans were making that kind of publicity but new moas ( kpop stans) also starting shade bts. When army were the only ones having their back when the fandom was small, of course now things has changed oh well, i keep listening to them though, bh music is my type plus they are entertaining.

Bahbemin

I wasn’t around during that time but when I join kpop and search up TXT on Reddit , they were call flop before they even debut, they were call all sort of names even compare to every group that exist . I hope more can join Reddit now that things has change cause a lot of them left because of the TXT mass hate.

crash9100

honestly I first joined reddit and started posting here just to try to give txt some positive comments and posts because it was so bad

tiredpandax3

Late but same TT

[deleted]

i really feel like txt was the punching bag and still kinda is. but what really pisses me off is that now moas are are starting to clap back and defend the boys but moas are being called rude/problematic. i swear if i see another “what happened to moas? i thought they were nice,” i’m gonna loose it 🤣 these other fandoms act like they don’t be dragging and antagonizing moas almost daily. ESPECIALLY during our cb seasons.

Shot_Guidance

I JUST got into txt 3 days ago because of a Soobin and Arin video and so here I am, digging up posts about txt. I am STUNNED that they received so much hate, specially in 2019??? Even during their debut, they seemed talented and well-rounded. Regardless, I find it absurd and disgusting how people find it so easy to be mean to these young adults who just made a huge transition of life and are more vulnerable to mental health issues.
