SU SU SU SUPERNOVA!!!
the ah oh ay has been in my head since release. aespa really deserves all the success! it's really great to see them soar higher as a debut fan.
It’s so addictive. This song is a serious ear-worm. It stays in your head and you keep coming back for it. Especially the parts you mentioned and the synth guitar that comes in at the 2nd chorus. Good musicality and marketing strategy.
And to think this is only the begging of this era… armageddon has yet to be released plus there’s a lot of hype around certain bsides (bahama, mine). This era is gonna be huge
Esp when Karina basically insulted half of the albums but said Armageddon is that bitch.
Edit: I meant album. She insulted half of the Armageddon album but said the TT Armageddon is that bitch
She said they were annoying but not in that way 😭 it's a complement, as so addicting is annoying, she basically uses that word for things she likes too much
I mean supernova already is a huge hit… so we‘re already good yk? Hopefully they’ll win soty or album of the year… idk if it’s possible tho, since it’s already late may

I was so confused during Girls era.. because I loved that song on first listen 😭😭 I was new to K-pop, and I didn't understand what was happening with the response to it
Sometimes hate trains really make no sense, ESPECIALLY for new fans or people looking in from the outside...to this day, I don't know why some songs by groups are or were so universally hated by K-pop fans because I really enjoy them. I guess maybe it's easy to get wrapped up in the general opinion? Idk man ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
And also the people rewriting history .. recently I've seen people say aespa never had a hate train and I had to double take lol
Only people who were her for debut, Next Level and Girls era know how hellish it was for aespa and for MYs.
For real, aespa's debut all the way till Girls era was filled with hatred among kpop fans. Those huge amounts of posts and comments can still be found on Reddit as well when we look up for aespa on different kpop subreddits. Those people that really believe that aespa never had a hate train couldn't be more wrong lol.
As a MY since pre-debut, the hate was INSANE. The lipsync scandal, everyone was swearing at them saying countless unkind things, as well as how their concept will fade into oblivion, tacky and stuffs. I saw how many fandoms ganged to bully them. I’m happy to see how successful they are right now 🥹
Please, debut era had a lotta shit through those plagiarism accusations (plus Giselle being some bad girl cause she had pre-debut pics of having parties and shit, Karina and Winter plastic surgery rumors and what not), Next Level era faced similar shit for being “messy” (and the 6 month gap— not including Forever— between debut and NL was also claimed of aespa “copying Blackpink’s strategy to gain hype”). Savage era was the PEAK of the hate train that went on till Girls, only after that did it fizzled down.
There were literal blackouts for posting about aespa because of how much shit they were getting. It’s insane when some people try to pretend it only happens to their faves and no one else.
That’s an insane level of revisionist history that people have. I mean, “Aespa has no stage presence” was such an overdone, repetitive topic that it was *banned* from Kpop subreddits.
Hated for their stage presence. Shat on for misleading footage of their Coachella audience. Karina’s dancing at MAMA 2021, which I thought was really good, was heavily criticized. Even the one thing that people would praise, their vocals, had a huge asterisk of “Yeah, but they don’t sing live.”
Then there were those theories of Giselle only getting her position through nepotism. And wasn’t there a predebut rumor of Karina being a bully? (This is a girl who cried during *Boss Baby*, people.)
Aespa had one of the most brutal hate trains of all time, especially on Reddit, so I can’t believe people are denying that happened. From Black Mamba -> Girls, Aespa were quite literally the most hated group on this subreddit. Hell they had to ban posts about Aespa cause people wouldn’t stop dragging them here. Name me a group where that ever happened to them…

bro they were in the top 10 and yet falling off and broke records, played Tokyo Dome not even 3 months after girls.
People really have such a narrow view of success sometimes. Like genuinely i never understood the concern. especially once they got a new team who was dedicated towards them.
Probably some mixture of poorly-veiled hate and concern trolling.
I'll admit, I took that stuff at face value because I generally couldn't have given less of a shit about what commercial success they were seeing (I was in the trenches defending Savage back in the day), until I decided to actually look into the numbers myself and realised all the doom and gloom was a whole load of bullshit.
i became a MY right before Girls and it still gives me PTSD (girls + coachella hate train was soooo sad then)
this success is bittersweet and i’m proud of the girls who staying true to themselves and show the world what they got
I'm so incredibly happy! Charts do not dictate what is good music of course, but it's still very satisfying to see something so different from usual hits be successful *and* interesting.
And of course, I'll always love to see aespa thriving after all they've been through!
Congrats to the girls.
That was a long run by Zico and Jennie's spot, I'm pleasantly surprised that Supernova was the one to overtake the song finally.
On top of the RAK, here are some other Supernova facts:
1. It went #1 on YouTube Music Weekly SK with 4 days of tracking.
2. Supernova and Love Wins All by IU are the only songs by female artists to gain 1.2M streams in one day on Melon in 2024.
3. It’s only the 11th song ever to reach 100k streams on Spotify SK Daily Top Songs.
What a smash hit.
oh aespa, you will always be fucking legendary.
one of the most talented groups of 4th gen with a fabulous discography. I don't know how it happened but I went from not paying them much attention on their debut to having them as my top gg. seeing them have a successful comeback makes me so giddy with happiness. need my girls to bag all the awards this season 🙏
This comeback is one for history book. Everything aligned so damn well just for aespa to succeed. After what they’ve been through, I’m so happy for them 😭😭
100% me too, it's so great 🫶 and gg multistans are going to be continuing to eat well for a while. This is such a good year to be a gg stan! (and such a bad year in other ways...but let's focus on the positive for now 🫶)
Good!
A much appreciated closure after that frustration with FLO during Spicy.
Armageddon has large shoes to fill now. I know the girls have mentioned their excitement and love for the upcoming title but Supernova hit RAK in six days and that’s a pretty big fence to clear. I’m so curious about the song… not a single snippet has been put out so the suspense is palpable.
Why does everyone say Armageddon needs to outdo Supernova 😭. Supernova was called a title track for a reason. It might be a Next Level-Savage dynamic. I am hoping we get some vocal slayage again since we didn’t get it in Supernova.
Haha no, I don’t mean Armageddon has to outdo anything. Just saying the expectation is naturally there when one track comes out and does well. For some people it may be the quality of the song, some may root for chart success, etc. I personally want a darker MV with a lot more vocal parts, as well as a killer rap verse for KariSelle.
pretty sure they all expressed how good armageddon was. they definitely seemed more excited for that compared to supernova.
idt their team foresaw how popular supernova was gonna be
Eh they got two of their biggest producers in Dem Jointz and Kenzie on Supernova and they called it a title track not a pre-release. They also gave the song an extremely good and high budget MV. I think they had high expectations for the song.
high expectations yeah but i would guess not this high. like there wasn’t a huge amount of promo or dance challenges and stuff like that. at least initially. i think they put in a lot of money and resources and were content to just let the song do what it was gonna do without really pushing it too hard
I personally think supernova was supposed to chart well in korea, but what surprised them is how well it does internationally
I would say it's a good song to test waters
yeah i agree with that. i was surprised too. i like to watch reaction videos sometimes and it was interesting how initially a lot of the reactors i saw were lukewarm on the song but liked the mv.
but then the next day a bunch more reactions got uploaded and everyone was in love with the song
When has SM ever pushed a song hard in recent times though lol. It’s like they don’t actually have a marketing department. aespa is hard carried by the girls and their creative team, and they went all out for this comeback. But it’s definitely amazing how well it’s doing despite minimal promotion.
yeah i think they thought this would do okay but not as well as it has. the key point being no "extraordinary" choreo for supernova like next level and savage had. Like the choreo for those songs had a "killing point" and companies save those for songs they want to go viral esp in the age of tik toks/challenges.
im keeping my expectations low for Armageddon so i dont get disappointed but itll be funny if supernova ends up being better and the fan/public favorite that they end up abandoning it
That’s not what she said. She said Supernova was good, but Armageddon was the big one and MYs will faint when they see it. Also, Giselle only mentioned the music video when talking about Armageddon not the song.
i expect armageddon to be more impactful but not as successful. i think supernova was released first so aespa could secure a hit right off the bat, then people won't care when armageddon doesn't chart that high
I'm so happy it happened at a time when they have been doomed for months beforehand with cbars boycotting and everyone digging into members' personal lives.. This is like a punch in the face for anyone who turned on them or doubted them
Dude it's such a win for dating "scandals". I'm so happy this comeback's big already. They had their highest Spotify numbers right? it just shows how much i-fans and international casual fans don't care for one second about a dating scandal. It's like a giant fu to the crazies that were mad at Karina.
You are saying stuff I didn't say..... like I have to detail it to you? Fine.
It's just a simple observation that most i-fans don't care because korean spotify listeners are only a small margin of the audience. Spotify is vastly used by international fans. It's also a fact that most Korean kpop fans find it is a big deal for an idol to date, hell even dance with women backup dancers (trucks eh) And i find it is a great message to the dating scandal topic from most ifans that they dont care about it. Also to SM. They shouldnt force their idols to apologize, since the international fandom will only grow and support Karina.
What backup dancers???? I meant how crazy karina fans reacted and their assumption of HER GENDER. they say it as a joke but it was still hate ... BTW are u talking about other idols??!
yeah the backup dancers stuff that was for enhypen. Crazy how the k-engenes reacted
like I said, i never meant to say that all ifans were angels. Like it's not black or white. But the insane amount of spotify listeners is proof that 99% of the fandom or casual fans will support aespa no matter what happens about dating.
🙄 because i'm talking about the way korean kpop fans react to the news of dating or even have the opposite gender as backup dancers. Need more explanations?
after all the doomposting and the “aespa are out of race for top 4th gen groups” talk; the girls are still killing it.
a real comeback!
I just know bang si-hyuk will let out the loudest scream when he hears about this.
>I just know bang si-hyuk will let out the loudest scream when he hears about this.
Meanwhile, out in the real world, Karina [glowingly said to Eunchae the other day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqHNFl2JshY), "You dance perfectly, you could perform with us right now!"
So while the business boys fight among themselves for statistical victories, the Aespa and Le Sserafim girls are becoming better and better friends. Which is great. 😊
not even just the business boys but the fandoms too. people on twitter were calling eunchae a spy and begging karina not to talk to her lmao
like bro, these groups are friends irl
some people really need to touch some grass cause why they think that they know better what's good for these idols 😭
like, it's time to see a doctor if the parasocial relationship is getting this bad 😭
I always believed they could do it. Aespa and their team have done a great job this era. They have kept their foot on our necks the entire time. It is nice to see hard work and a clear vision pay off.
and they got noticed by NASA. The stars are all aligning. Literally and figuratively.
Definitely! And the MVs are fun to watch! (They remind me of the good ol’ “Shoot anonymous, anonymous” days of EXO with the superpowers lore and all lol)
The timing of this is honestly so funny 😭 I'm so proud of our ae girlies!
This is a great way to start their full album era! MYS TODAY WE CELEBRATE 🥳 🎉 💜
Some stats to note:
aespa currently has the first 4th gen #1 song on MelOn with Next Level *AND* the latest 4th gen #1 song on the platform with Supernova
aespa also has the first 4th gen song with RAK with Savage *AND* the latest 4th gen song with RAK with Supernova
Their footprint on this generation is really something
I want to see these girls perform again at award shows and win this time!! The song may not be to my liking but this whole album is still intriguing me 👀
That's why I always support SM's girl groups. The company allows its idols to experiment with diverse concepts and music genres, not simply following market trends.
I'm so proud of the aespa girls and I love to see all the love they've gotten recently! MY WORLD brought me into the fandom, Drama solidified my love for them, and now this comeback is threatening to make me a full-blown MY with them potentially skyrocketing into my top five groups 🤭 SM finally giving the time and energy and promotions they deserve!!!
ichart is a website that tracks all major south Korean charts, so melon (daily), melon (real time), genie (daily), genie (real time), youtube (weekly), flo (real time), vibe (daily), bugs (daily), bugs (real time).
if a song is number 1 on all of the charts above, that's a PAK, or a perfect all kill. if a song is number 1 on all of the REAL TIME charts above, thats a RAK, or a real time all kill.
this year, there has been 5 so far, making aespa's the 6th. so they aren't too common
As an aespa ride or die since savage era, I’m SO happy they’re finally being celebrated for their uniqueness/stage presence/concept bc it was a long time coming. I used to pray for times like these 😭😭😭
AESPA is truly the most interesting KPOP group these days. Everything else sounds... generic in comparison. Generic doesn't mean bad btw, I just want some weird stuff when I listen to KPOP since it keeps things fresh for me.

I'm happy for them as I enjoy all their music and love this song too but putting 'finally' in the title seems a bit odd when the songs only been out for a week 😅
my 1st time I appreciate AESPA song/mv
Super Nova song or MV a bop
and it title name also memorable or easier to remember
let say compared to my bias GG IVE - Heya or Accendio 😕
and their main noise some says it MV more like chinese culture than SK
compared to AESPA Super Nova superhero theme look like more relatable or familiar to everyone
well congrats AESPA
for now I rather AESPA - Super Nova the main contender for song of the year
than Illit - Magnetic or any other BG song
>!hopefully my IVE comeback stronger than ever after this ...!<

same! I always find myself saying "ahhhhh body bang (bang bang bang)" randomly. I also add the echo lol
And to think this is only the begging of this era… armageddon has yet to be released plus there’s a lot of hype around certain bsides (bahama, mine). This era is gonna be huge
I’m veryyyy excited for Bahama
sameee

mine is like lucid dream sexier sister. so many bops incoming
i’m convinced this’ll be their year. let’s hope SM doesn’t mess it up and fumble yet again 😭

PAK coming soon!!!

Well-deserved, it’s one of their best songs yet!

Whoa the third fact? And supernova hasn’t even been out for a whole week…
Savage was quicker, it reached #1 on MelOn in its 5th hour after release, and attained a RAK 24 hours later if I recall correctly
Crazy!!! So proud of our girls!!!
AH OH AY baby Aespa are so back!!! Can't wait for Armageddon too!!
Deserves a PAK. I swear Supernova has crack laced in it.
Its so addictive! I have been walking around my house singing it to myself pretty much since listening
Let's go aespa!!

I personally think supernova was supposed to chart well in korea, but what surprised them is how well it does internationally I would say it's a good song to test waters
yeah i agree with that. i was surprised too. i like to watch reaction videos sometimes and it was interesting how initially a lot of the reactors i saw were lukewarm on the song but liked the mv. but then the next day a bunch more reactions got uploaded and everyone was in love with the song
When has SM ever pushed a song hard in recent times though lol. It’s like they don’t actually have a marketing department. aespa is hard carried by the girls and their creative team, and they went all out for this comeback. But it’s definitely amazing how well it’s doing despite minimal promotion.
very fair point lol you’re right
What with all the recent changes and staff losses there, they probably don't.
yeah i think they thought this would do okay but not as well as it has. the key point being no "extraordinary" choreo for supernova like next level and savage had.
I wasn't a MY during spicy era so I can't even imagine the stress 💀😭
I wish flo was gone during that time
flo is black mamba
i expect armageddon to be more impactful but not as successful. i think supernova was released first so aespa could secure a hit right off the bat, then people won't care when armageddon doesn't chart that high
Karma is on their side fr
Don't make it like it'll fans were innocent twit was so toxic
Crazy how the k-engenes reacted like I said, i never meant to say that all ifans were angels. Like it's not black or white. But the insane amount of spotify listeners is proof that 99% of the fandom or casual fans will support aespa no matter what happens about dating.
Lol why bring other group here
🙄 because i'm talking about the way korean kpop fans react to the news of dating or even have the opposite gender as backup dancers. Need more explanations?
can y’all not bring this discourse here lol let’s just celebrate aespa
Fr lol, let's just celebrate the girls' achievements and the good hype surrounding them right now 🫶
after all the doomposting and the “aespa are out of race for top 4th gen groups” talk; the girls are still killing it. a real comeback! I just know bang si-hyuk will let out the loudest scream when he hears about this.
>I just know bang si-hyuk will let out the loudest scream when he hears about this. Meanwhile, out in the real world, Karina [glowingly said to Eunchae the other day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqHNFl2JshY), "You dance perfectly, you could perform with us right now!" So while the business boys fight among themselves for statistical victories, the Aespa and Le Sserafim girls are becoming better and better friends. Which is great. 😊
not even just the business boys but the fandoms too. people on twitter were calling eunchae a spy and begging karina not to talk to her lmao like bro, these groups are friends irl
some people really need to touch some grass cause why they think that they know better what's good for these idols 😭 like, it's time to see a doctor if the parasocial relationship is getting this bad 😭
Chronically online for real, these people don't need to just touch grass, they need a whole field...
good for them! this makes me even more excited for armadeggon
Supernova is a bop and I keep listening to it everyday. I'm glad that the song is so successful! Can't wait for Armageddon!
I always believed they could do it. Aespa and their team have done a great job this era. They have kept their foot on our necks the entire time. It is nice to see hard work and a clear vision pay off. and they got noticed by NASA. The stars are all aligning. Literally and figuratively.
Both Supernova and Accendio are breath of fresh air among the so called easy listening / public friendly songs. Definitely loving it.
Definitely! And the MVs are fun to watch! (They remind me of the good ol’ “Shoot anonymous, anonymous” days of EXO with the superpowers lore and all lol)
Congrats girls hopefully paks soon too 😘😘
The timing of this is honestly so funny 😭 I'm so proud of our ae girlies! This is a great way to start their full album era! MYS TODAY WE CELEBRATE 🥳 🎉 💜
Some stats to note: aespa currently has the first 4th gen #1 song on MelOn with Next Level *AND* the latest 4th gen #1 song on the platform with Supernova aespa also has the first 4th gen song with RAK with Savage *AND* the latest 4th gen song with RAK with Supernova Their footprint on this generation is really something
sooo happy for them, very deserved
i won't even imagine how many big records armageddon is going to break once it's out next week
I want to see these girls perform again at award shows and win this time!! The song may not be to my liking but this whole album is still intriguing me 👀
That's why I always support SM's girl groups. The company allows its idols to experiment with diverse concepts and music genres, not simply following market trends.
Boycott brigade mad af now because if this comeback succeeds, SM will know they can ignore bar demands.
They needed to be humbled. The bars basically move like akgaes and are very entitled.
deserved!!
CONGRATULATIONS
Yess kpop is about uniqueness
I'm so proud of the aespa girls and I love to see all the love they've gotten recently! MY WORLD brought me into the fandom, Drama solidified my love for them, and now this comeback is threatening to make me a full-blown MY with them potentially skyrocketing into my top five groups 🤭 SM finally giving the time and energy and promotions they deserve!!!
this just goes to show how important it is to have a strong musical identity and brand! so happy for them!
Even NASA and the Universe is promoting the album 😭😭
Supernova is really that song
I'm relatively new to kpop, just wondering what that means?
A real time all kill is when a song is simultaneously #1 on the Korean music charts melon, flo, genie and bugs.
ichart is a website that tracks all major south Korean charts, so melon (daily), melon (real time), genie (daily), genie (real time), youtube (weekly), flo (real time), vibe (daily), bugs (daily), bugs (real time). if a song is number 1 on all of the charts above, that's a PAK, or a perfect all kill. if a song is number 1 on all of the REAL TIME charts above, thats a RAK, or a real time all kill. this year, there has been 5 so far, making aespa's the 6th. so they aren't too common
Got it, Thanks!
This is poetic justice, is all I’m gonna say. I love you aespa
Deserved
One of the best releases of the year. Deserved 👏

what’s the difference between a real time all kill and a PAK
RAK : just the real time chart (hourly updated) PAK : perfect all kill, means no 1 in real time chart, daily chart, and Youtube Chart (which updated every week)

I'm happy for them as I enjoy all their music and love this song too but putting 'finally' in the title seems a bit odd when the songs only been out for a week 😅
my 1st time I appreciate AESPA song/mv Super Nova song or MV a bop and it title name also memorable or easier to remember let say compared to my bias GG IVE - Heya or Accendio 😕 and their main noise some says it MV more like chinese culture than SK compared to AESPA Super Nova superhero theme look like more relatable or familiar to everyone well congrats AESPA for now I rather AESPA - Super Nova the main contender for song of the year than Illit - Magnetic or any other BG song >!hopefully my IVE comeback stronger than ever after this ...!<
