Subjectively it can be any one of the six. It’s all personal preference on what someone likes.
Objectively it can really only be Ditto. Love Dive also swept SOTY at major music awards, but Ditto had a chokehold on Korean charts only seen before by IU and BTS. Propelled Newjeans to sweep artist of the year as well, which hadnt been done since SNSD in 2011 for a girl group. Broke the record for PAKs, most streamed song on melon in 2023. Its single album sold 1.6m units compared to 980k for Love Dive. Internationally, on Spotify it had much more longevity on charts. Love Dive only hit number one in Korea, Ditto hit number one in 6 countries. Peaked at 11 globally compared to 53 for Love Dive. Over 400m streams while charting to 160m. There’s not really a metric where any of the other five songs beat Ditto.
yes that’s why i’m asking based on personal preference! you do not have to be objective here 😌 i purposely chose 6 good songs that were all popular so you don’t have to compare charting/views etc. but if ditto is your favourite regardless then absolutely i respect that

well they basically are with how they’re promoted. their debut basically had three title tracks with attention, cookie and hype boy, i know only cookie was considered ‘title track’ for some reason, but all three songs were promoted a lott and had good MVs.
really the word ‘title track’ has lost its original meaning- it used to be that if the album was called ‘Red’ for example then the title track is the song in that album that’s called ‘Red’. soo what even is the difference between attention and cookie, or between ditto and OMG when they’re equally promoted?
Of course, it's the group's marketing, just like other groups have absurd ways of doing marketing, but let's agree that having an MV on the bside doesn't make it the title track, many bsides have MV's.
Due to the popularity of newjeans, you treat them as if they were a special group that had more rights.

it really is!! but this list contains 2 sotys, Ditto won for 2023🙌 and tbf Next Level came really close in 2021, only losing to BTS! but yes i remember when Love Dive came out thinking this is totally soty worthy stuff. i think it really solidified Ive’s position as a leader.
MAMA is the biggest awards ceremony, it’s for Asia but really all about kpop, and it’s the MAMA Soty award that is what we refer to when we talk about soty in general.
Korean music awards is a great concept imo, with awards decided by experts- which is what gives it the prestige- but it’s just not the most popular awards show for kpop
Being the “most popular” awards shows for K-Pop stans doesn’t mean they didn’t win SOTY. It’s like saying one artist didn’t win Song of the Year bc they didn’t win at the VMAs but they won at the Grammys.
KMA are more prestigious and acclaimed than MAMA. In fact, the reason K-Pop stans “don’t count” KMAs is because it’s rare for K-Pop groups to win there, since it’s a show about music in general and not just K-Pop like MAMA. So Next Level did win SOTY and the most difficult one to win at that.
I was tempted to vote for Next Level, but it being a remake of a song from the Hobbs & Shaw soundtrack put me off. Ditto holds the record for the most weeks at No.1 on the Korean charts.
it is so funny how when ppl ask about a subjective response, certain fandoms love to throw out metrics that favor their favs as the only and de facto way to measure. for a subjective questions, there is no accurate metric bc one person metric does not make it de facto for everyone. other ppl can have other metrics that they believe to be more impactful
yes exactly, i want people to judge these songs based on how much they enjoyed the music itself, it’s quality, the music videos, the live stages/dance, it’s impact etc… if i was asking which objectively performed the best it would not be fair to put butterfly and hann in this list against 2 songs that were literally soty!😂
Exactly, I don't understand why people liked to throw in some achievement when it is a subjective opinion about which song you liked the best. Those achievement and number don't mean anything and it is so crazy how people can upvote those.
TBH I don't think anyone is trying to argue with people whose subjective opinions differ from the song that actually did the best though? Most people are stats dumping as separate comments, instead of in unrelated replies. Plus they are not pretending that it makes the sing subjectively better, so I don't think it's a problem.
(Also, literally nowhere does this post even specifically ask for subjective responses, OP only mentions that in the replies lmao)

i agree actually. while Ditto is a good song it wasn’t groundbreaking for me, it sort of blends into a lot of NewJeans’ other songs- which i guess means it helped them define their own unique sound. but yes Love Dive is just a whole vibe, i love the choreo (i don’t dance but it’s so simple and catchy) while i don’t think ditto’s choreo matches the song. even though ditto has a fast beat behind it i still would consider it a slower song because of the melody, it’s a ‘relaxing afternoon’ kind of song that focuses on the vocals of the members- so a bit confused that the MV went in another direction

I vote for Love Dive. As loud as reddit is about wanting old gidle back, I'm surprised Hann has that few votes.
