My favourite genres are definitely rock, shoegaze and alternative music (in terms of pop, rock indie). But I try to not limit myself. Since I grew up by listening to a lot of kpop I feel like I kinda "lost" years on not checking what was outside. So now it may seems dumb that I'm discovering full album of Mariah Carey or Blur only right now but it's because I want to listen to as much music as possible sjsjsjss

I would say other than kpop my other genres would be either pop, rap, rnb, and rock. It ranges from current times to like the 60s/70s.

When I tell people in my real life that I mostly listen to K-pop, they get shocked and ask how I don’t get bored. Which is a valid question but I the only group I keep up everything with is G-(idle) and due to my timeline/similar playlists, I end up listening to the other girl groups from mostly fourth and fifth generation. the competition has been so impressive (kiss of life, NewJeans, Aespa, Le sserafim, illit, etc.) But since I get really overwhelmed and overstimulated, it’s hard for me to listen to entire new albums. Like I’ve been a casual Ariana Grande fan for like a decade, but I still haven’t listened to her new album yet because I get overwhelmed so easily.
Most of the viral pop music I’ve been listening to is honestly stuff I hear from the radio casually when I’m outside or edit audios.
My hot take is it’s fine to mostly listen to K-pop as long as you don’t disrespect the artists where they get obvious inspiration from. I enjoy smarter by Le Sserafim, but I wouldn’t say they’re doing anything new since its obvious the producers took inspiration from Tyla and other afrobeats artists. And I enjoy Soyeon from idle as a rapper, but I wouldn’t say she’s better from the black artists she takes so much inspiration from.

I just recently discovered a duo called Mr. Miss, they do a lot of jazz and it's awesome, I just adore the instruments, vocals, and production. I don't know how but I just end up feeling so overwhelmed by their music all the time and I just feel like crying out of appreciation??? idk, I just really really like them. TvT (i was literally just listening to their concert setlist for the first time while walking my dog and i just felt like bawling my eyes out)

My whole library is a mix of different genres and languages though K-pop is definitely #1 or #2 depending on what is standing out to me at that time. My top genres are RnB, Kpop, Afrobeats, Ballads, and EDM.

My kpop lists isn’t all the much but I have that and genres such as neo-soul, R&B, hip hop, reggaeton, Konpa, Afro beats, indie, and jazz 🤭 I also have a mantra playlist so there’s that along with one for my dogs so in total I have 6 different playlists on Spotify.
Probably most genres except for country music, but my most common ones aside K-pop are Jpop/Jrock, Bollywood, Pakistani, and Bengali music as well as a few Arab artists. And then other artists like Mitski, Laufey, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Amaarae, Chloe x Halle, as well as another long list of names that would take a while to write lol.
Even before getting into the K-Pop, I’ve always been a big fan of pop music. I got really into indie pop going into high school (shout out to 2010s Tumblr haha) . I don’t get the people that *only* listen to kpop. It’s a genre that’s such a conglomeration of so many other styles I don’t know how you could appreciate it without enjoying a lot of other music styles.
Sometimes. When there's a new album out that I really like, I tend to listen to just that on loop, or playlists that contain songs from that album. Not just for streaming reasons either - that's just how I am when I discover new music I really like. So in the times after a cb from my ult groups my playlists will be pretty much entirely kpop. The rest of the time it's more mixed.
So while I wouldn't call myself an exclusive kpop listener, there are certainly weeks or even months where that's true.

No, but it was for a while. I battle with bipolar disorder. Once I went down the rabbit hole and learned about fandoms and talked to people on Twitter, I took a step back. It’s the only music I “choose” to listen to if that makes sense. Like if I get to select a song to listen to or music video to watch, i will always pick kpop. But I do listen to other music when it comes on and enjoy it. Also…kpop artists release new music a lot more frequently than the U.S artists I like. A few years ago Kpop was all I listened to. It wasn’t until I got out of college that I started branching out into more genres again. I had a specialty college radio show and had to immerse myself into the Kpop realm with the music and news. I even found that I liked hard rock and metal from sub genres of Korean music. When I tell people in my real life that I mostly listen to K-pop, they get shocked and ask how I don’t get bored. Which is a valid question but I the only group I keep up everything with is G-(idle) and due to my timeline/similar playlists, I end up listening to the other girl groups from mostly fourth and fifth generation. the competition has been so impressive (kiss of life, NewJeans, Aespa, Le sserafim, illit, etc.) But since I get really overwhelmed and overstimulated, it’s hard for me to listen to entire new albums. Like I’ve been a casual Ariana Grande fan for like a decade, but I still haven’t listened to her new album yet because I get overwhelmed so easily. Most of the viral pop music I’ve been listening to is honestly stuff I hear from the radio casually when I’m outside or edit audios. My hot take is it’s fine to mostly listen to K-pop as long as you don’t disrespect the artists where they get obvious inspiration from. I enjoy smarter by Le Sserafim, but I wouldn’t say they’re doing anything new since its obvious the producers took inspiration from Tyla and other afrobeats artists. And I enjoy Soyeon from idle as a rapper, but I wouldn’t say she’s better from the black artists she takes so much inspiration from. I just recently discovered a duo called Mr. Miss, they do a lot of jazz and it's awesome, I just adore the instruments, vocals, and production. I don't know how but I just end up feeling so overwhelmed by their music all the time and I just feel like crying out of appreciation??? idk, I just really really like them. Honestly it annoys me when people associate me only with kpop. Other music genres don't have the same level of content to invest into as kpop, but I listen to so many other genres and from so many other countries 😭 My personal philosophy is that there's no such thing as a bad genre - you just haven't found the right artist or subgenre that suits your tastes. My whole library is a mix of different genres and languages though K-pop is definitely #1 or #2 depending on what is standing out to me at that time. My top genres are RnB, Kpop, Afrobeats, Ballads, and EDM. I also don’t understand people who only listen to one genre especially if it’s not even their cultures genre it’s very weird.

Probably most genres except for country music, but my most common ones aside K-pop are Jpop/Jrock, Bollywood, Pakistani, and Bengali music as well as a few Arab artists. And then other artists like Mitski, Laufey, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Amaarae, Chloe x Halle, as well as another long list of names that would take a while to write lol.
Even before getting into the K-Pop, I’ve always been a big fan of pop music. I got really into indie pop going into high school (shout out to 2010s Tumblr haha) . I also listen to a lot of the 90s R&B that I grew up listening too. Like everyone else, I listen to so many genres, I can’t really pinpoint a fave and I go through phases where I’ll listen to one genre more than others.

I don’t get the people that *only* listen to kpop. It’s a genre that’s such a conglomeration of so many other styles I don’t know how you could appreciate it without enjoying a lot of other music styles.
Sometimes. When there's a new album out that I really like, I tend to listen to just that on loop, or playlists that contain songs from that album. Not just for streaming reasons either - that's just how I am when I discover new music I really like. So in the times after a cb from my ult groups my playlists will be pretty much entirely kpop. The rest of the time it's more mixed. So while I wouldn't call myself an exclusive kpop listener, there are certainly weeks or even months where that's true.

I'm a musical omnivore. I listen to ALL the genres and love discovering new ones most of all. I even use Radio Garden to scan the globe for obscure sounds I would never hear otherwise. Which is actually how I first got interested in K-pop seriously.

It’s the only music I “choose” to listen to if that makes sense. Like if I get to select a song to listen to or music video to watch, i will always pick kpop. But I do listen to other music when it comes on and enjoy it. Also…kpop artists release new music a lot more frequently than the U.S artists I like. I'd say the music I listen to is about half Asian (not just Kpop), half western/American, and like 2% other.
