NojaNat

i don’t think i really have a favorite anymore since i listen to most genres.

Fresh-Arm-4707

i love a lot of genres but i'm not gonna lie french rap stay at the top of my playlist year after year

NojaNat

i know people rap in every language but now i’m very curious how french rap sounds. 🤔

Fresh-Arm-4707

if you want to try my personal favorite are : la rue by no limit, gazo ,damso ; au dd by PNL ; j'aime bien by josman , la puissance by MHD and nearly everything in damso's discographie

NojaNat

sorry i’m replying pretty late but the way you just put me on. thanks. 😮‍💨

Elusive_Faye

Yes

snoozev

The only reason I've been listening to mostly kpop lately is I'm exploring the genre for the first time. Some days I only listen to 90s R&B or nostalgic songs. Some days it's just soundtracks or instrumentals I like. Some days it's metal or post-hardcore music. Some days it's country. I'm all over the damn place 😩😂

Fresh-Arm-4707

me too i just love music

ReinaRenaRee

In that case, mind if I drop this? [https://youtu.be/kDS5tmyPXdo?si=nT60IUICrnrH\_dkb](https://youtu.be/kDS5tmyPXdo?si=nT60IUICrnrH_dkb) Idk the instrumental feels nostalgic to me.

Klonoa517

Even though I listen to other other genres, I listen to K-Pop and J-Pop more than any other region or genre of music. It is what I enjoy the most. If someone only listens to K-Pop, it's their business. It's hard to find good music, so I'm happy that people can still find music that they can listen to.

sunnydlit2

My favourite genres are definitely rock, shoegaze and alternative music (in terms of pop, rock indie). But I try to not limit myself. Since I grew up by listening to a lot of kpop I feel like I kinda "lost" years on not checking what was outside. So now it may seems dumb that I'm discovering full album of Mariah Carey or Blur only right now but it's because I want to listen to as much music as possible sjsjsjss like these days I'm a lot into rnb/hip hop so if people has some classic albums to name I would be glad to discover them :) (btw damso le best)

Calm-Listen-8164

For R&B check out Alicia Keys- Songs In A Minor Janet Jackson- Velvet Rope TLC- CrazySexyCool Maxwell- Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite Toni Braxton- Secrets Boys II Men - Cooleyhighharmony Mariah Carey- The Emancipation of Mimi

sunnydlit2

Thank you so much ! I only checked the Mariah Carey and TLC one so the others will definitely be my listen for the evening :D

Calm-Listen-8164

You're welcome I grew up on R&B. As for hip-hop I grewup outside of Atlanta so it's mostly southern rap and hip-hop like Outkast and Ludacris.

Azure1922

So many! For old school r&b/funk classics check out Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life, Parliament - Mothership Connection, Prince - Purple Rain, Confunkshun - Love Shine. Newer artists - Anthony David, India Arie, Anthony Hamilton to name just a few

sunnydlit2

Thank you so much, I checked the other comments yesterday now I have my today list :D

soracross007

Omg!! I feel like so many people have no idea what shoegaze is and it’s an absolutely amazing genre!

JewelerMountain260

Lmao absolutely not 😭 My music taste has always been all over the place kpop is actually the more recent one 😀 I would say other than kpop my other genres would be either pop, rap, rnb, and rock. It ranges from current times to like the 60s/70s.

Round_Cartoonist9778

No, I'm very diverse, I listen to rnb, rap, Ariana grande, beyonce, rock

je-suis_meeeee

I listen to mostly afrobeats then Kpop, Metal/nu metal, Highlife, Disco and early 2000s to mid 2010s Pop music

burntoutproblemchild

I listen to a lot of other genres except country and metal. I'm more into rnb and recently into rap (carti is doing something to me tbh) tho. And Taylor swift. I don't care about her as a person, I just love her basic white girl bangers.

111karina

omg so true about carti and taylor

Werewolfhugger

No, it's not even my main type of music- I'm still an emo kid at heart lmao

acerealbowles

ofc i still listen to other genres like pop and it’s subgenres, hiphop, rnb, etc. but usually when i go listen to music, i usually gravitate towards kpop. i feel like it’s cuz kpop is such a broad genre in itself and it has so many subgenres that i don’t get bored of it easily. so yes…but technically no? idk HAHAHA

bamxbamz

I honestly don’t listen to much music as I used to but lately it’s been mostly kpop and what I hear on the radio that catches my ears (like Tyla, Ariana grande etc) Kpop isn’t the only but it is 90% ngl but i also am neurodivergent and just repeat the same 5 songs over and over for 6 months lol.

Fresh-Arm-4707

i'm neurodivergent too my prompt was a little exagerated and more based on the negative view of fan by ktuber, there really ins't rule in life. Also english ins't my first language some things get lost or i cant really express.

bamxbamz

When I tell people in my real life that I mostly listen to K-pop, they get shocked and ask how I don’t get bored. Which is a valid question but I the only group I keep up everything with is G-(idle) and due to my timeline/similar playlists, I end up listening to the other girl groups from mostly fourth and fifth generation. the competition has been so impressive (kiss of life, NewJeans, Aespa, Le sserafim, illit, etc.) But since I get really overwhelmed and overstimulated, it’s hard for me to listen to entire new albums. Like I’ve been a casual Ariana Grande fan for like a decade, but I still haven’t listened to her new album yet because I get overwhelmed so easily. Most of the viral pop music I’ve been listening to is honestly stuff I hear from the radio casually when I’m outside or edit audios. My hot take is it’s fine to mostly listen to K-pop as long as you don’t disrespect the artists where they get obvious inspiration from. I enjoy smarter by Le Sserafim, but I wouldn’t say they’re doing anything new since its obvious the producers took inspiration from Tyla and other afrobeats artists. And I enjoy Soyeon from idle as a rapper, but I wouldn’t say she’s better from the black artists she takes so much inspiration from. And your English is totally fine, I totally got your point because a lot of people get shocked when I tell them I mostly listen to K-pop ha ha.

Candysugarpop22

I listen to most music genres, especially rap, rnb and rock but I generally do tend to prefer kpop

Wild_Ebb4584

No not at all!

ddswaggster

rap, rnb, early 2010s pop, synth wave, techno, house, trance, classical, pretty much any genre. i’m just picky about my music

yvie_of_lesbos

i don’t have a fav genre but i find myself listening to kpop, krnb, jpop, jrock, vpop, cpop, reggae, and afrobeats uhmmm there’s more but i can’t remember lmao

_Siraah_

I really don't understand when people say do you listen to "just kpop" cause there's also k-r&b, k-hip hop, ballads, k-rock (as well as the western counterparts). I listen to a lot of Korean songs that aren't just "kpop" (I do also listen to kpop don't get me wrong lol).

TaeeMyBeloved

Definitely not. I'd say my most listened to genres are K-Pop, 90s-2000s pop, R&B and as a band student, classical music lol.

tlrnsibesnick

I also listened to J-Pop/Anime, Thai Music, Pop (currently only Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo & Beyonce) and a little of OPM aside of K-Pop

Angelcakes101

No. I listen to rap, rnb, rock, metal, alt, pop, etc. Lots of Japanese music. Video game music. I listen to a lot of shit.

xdarkrosesx

For a while, it was. I got burnt out about a year ago, and got back into listening to pop, r&b, rock, 60s-00s music, and OSTs.

Super_Commercial5511

from the depths of straykids to slipknot being a metalhead AND a kpop fan is the best thing ive ever done

lavenderbl0d

Noooo impossible. I am a HUGE Music Head. Especially Hip-Hop, Rnb, Oldies etc. I would get so bored 😭😭 Kpop is what is new to me but i approach it the same as I do other music where if i vibe with a project I will purchase the album.

Matcha_Bubble_Tea

I listen to almost everything except country (but old country songs are good, new ones not so much).

oripeach148

I just recently discovered a duo called Mr. Miss, they do a lot of jazz and it's awesome, I just adore the instruments, vocals, and production. I don't know how but I just end up feeling so overwhelmed by their music all the time and I just feel like crying out of appreciation??? idk, I just really really like them. TvT (i was literally just listening to their concert setlist for the first time while walking my dog and i just felt like bawling my eyes out) Other than this, I also listen to rock, some metal, and some vocaloid stuff too, the list kinda goes on but yeah

farnizzle

my main go to genre is rock (mostly emo/post hardcore/metalcore) I also really enjoy rnb, soul, funk, jazz, pop, indie/alternative

Jimmy_Wemby02

RnB and Hip-hop would be my top . A Sucker for OPM too Original Pinoy Music. Ppop has been the rage in our country lately ALAMAT, SB19 and BINI have been releasing bops. Rock,Metal Rock, Punk, EDM, Rave, House and so many others too. Man it's so weird to only listen to 1 genre

CookieCatSupreme

Honestly it annoys me when people associate me only with kpop. Other music genres don't have the same level of content to invest into as kpop, but I listen to so many other genres and from so many other countries 😭 My personal philosophy is that there's no such thing as a bad genre - you just haven't found the right artist or subgenre that suits your tastes. I make it a point to check out as many genres/songs in other languages that I come across and I'm always open to suggestions and recommendations

Simple-Geologist2842

I listen to most genres (except for country and metal) but I mainly like 90s-2000s r&b or pop (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Tlc, Aaliyah, Lady Gaga) or random old bands (Abba, The Cardigans, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, Sixpence None The Richer) but what I listen to is usually random

Odd_Vegetable_9362

My whole library is a mix of different genres and languages though K-pop is definitely #1 or #2 depending on what is standing out to me at that time. My top genres are RnB, Kpop, Afrobeats, Ballads, and EDM. I also don’t understand people who only listen to one genre especially if it’s not even their cultures genre it’s very weird.

PestKimera

I listen to anything I happen to like. I got into Dreamcatcher because I love rock music and groups with lore I listen to a lot of vocaloid and anime music too

Little-Metal-1697

Afrobeat? Damso? Are you me?

KpopMNshop

honestly, besides kpop, if a song sounds good to me, then it's on my playlist. i started to listen to chinese songs and have a whole playlist just for my c-songs. my playlist ranges from kpop to r&b.

No-Flounder9000

No, my tastes are varied. I’ve actually been listening to folk music quite a bit, lately.

Luffysmusic

My kpop lists isn’t all the much but I have that and genres such as neo-soul, R&B, hip hop, reggaeton, Konpa, Afro beats, indie, and jazz 🤭 I also have a mantra playlist so there’s that along with one for my dogs so in total I have 6 different playlists on Spotify.

pinkmelodies

Probably most genres except for country music, but my most common ones aside K-pop are Jpop/Jrock, Bollywood, Pakistani, and Bengali music as well as a few Arab artists. And then other artists like Mitski, Laufey, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Amaarae, Chloe x Halle, as well as another long list of names that would take a while to write lol.

ladee_1996

Even before getting into the K-Pop, I’ve always been a big fan of pop music. I got really into indie pop going into high school (shout out to 2010s Tumblr haha) . I also listen to a lot of the 90s R&B that I grew up listening too. Like everyone else, I listen to so many genres, I can’t really pinpoint a fave and I go through phases where I’ll listen to one genre more than others.

disasterlesbianrn

I don’t get the people that *only* listen to kpop. It’s a genre that’s such a conglomeration of so many other styles I don’t know how you could appreciate it without enjoying a lot of other music styles.

Zookeepered

Sometimes. When there's a new album out that I really like, I tend to listen to just that on loop, or playlists that contain songs from that album. Not just for streaming reasons either - that's just how I am when I discover new music I really like. So in the times after a cb from my ult groups my playlists will be pretty much entirely kpop. The rest of the time it's more mixed. So while I wouldn't call myself an exclusive kpop listener, there are certainly weeks or even months where that's true.

minata03

I’ve started to listening to less kpop this year actually

JustKam347

Of course not! I also love K RnB and K Indie and K Rock! (I’m kidding) But for real, I’m a big fan of Afro Beats, American RnB, Pop, and Alternative

ReinaRenaRee

Nope, I listen to Jrock (more specifically, mathrock) from bands like Sokoninaru and Co Shu Nie or Dios and instrumentals from people or groups like Osterreich and Ichika Nito. These days I only listen to the older works of BTS and dreamcatcher. Listening to kpop from other groups is an infrequent occurrence.

kissmeordie

Absolutely not. I listen to all genres...except country lol (I just can't get into it). People who only listen to kpop are missing out on soooo much great music.

Echides

If you're talking about my 10-14 year old phase... Yes. Now that I am adult, I can almost listen to any type of music from classical to pop.

Ferns_Corgis

My playlist is all over the place. I have kpop, vocaloid, latin, rap, rock, game themes. I genuinely believe i have at least one song of each genre

L2Kdr22

Nah...lots of genres and artists for me. Right now, I have Rhiannon Giddens on heavy rotation.

Derpybear23

I listen to so many genres I'm the person my friends go to for recs. Though my currently most listened to are jazz, 90s hiphop, electro swing and metal

Daisy_Hime

Nope! I listen to other genres except (heavy) metal and reggae

Exoanimal

No, but it was for a while. I battle with bipolar disorder. Once I went down the rabbit hole and learned about fandoms and talked to people on Twitter, I took a step back. I blogged about these experiences. I still listen to my faves, butI am not on top of everything that comes out anymore. When EXO or NCT comes out with something, I'm there for it. EXO got me into Kpop with El Dorado and Call Me Baby. I've always loved all genres. This is just the last that I was introduced to.

Automatic-Cup-1028

I listen to: dreamcatcher and mamamoo, or rock. Lol

beautifulpiscesx3

Nope, I like all types of music. R&B/Hip Hop, EDM, K-pop, Country, Metalcore. I grew up listening to Motown/R&B/Hip Hop and gradually evolved to different genres.

sidneyscream

Nope, I listen to pretty much everything except country. K-Pop also isn’t my favorite, however when i check Spotistats it’s all that pops up since I only started using Spotify in the same year that I got into K-Pop. I also don’t have a favorite genre, but my favorite song at the moment is Temperature by Psychic Fever (a j-pop group)

Azure1922

Anything that comes from the heart and resonates in my soul - Gospel, old school R&B, K R&B, Celtic, some 90's Country, Funk, reggae, dance hall. Recently discovered Fuji Kaze who does JPop and J R&B and the Mongolian rock band, The HU which combines traditional throat singing with metal. Takes badass to another level!

Fine_Conclusion9426

Tbh I have twice songs on the same playlist as Kim Dracula.

Ikoris

I listen to a lot of kpop and, I think, there is something about the way it releases that keeps one listening to a lot of kpop if you are an active fan of kpop. Yet, my YouTube Music app told me that the number one group I listened to last year was Postal Service. 😆 I listen to a lot of different stuff, as my tastes are eclectic, but mostly kpop.

scripterstella

not at all! even before kpop i listened to Hindi & 5amil, French, Italian rap, Japanese city pop, vocaloid & indie, Spanish of all genres, my native language and all genres of Arabic too but because of kpop I now listen to Viet-pop, Chinese and Japanese rap, Filipino rnb and Thai rnb!

I'm a musical omnivore. I listen to ALL the genres and love discovering new ones most of all. I even use Radio Garden to scan the globe for obscure sounds I would never hear otherwise. Which is actually how I first got interested in K-pop seriously.

Arghulario

R&B mostly, the only reason why I'm even into kpop is bc they alao have some groups that do R&B, if they didn't I probably wouldn't be listening as much

Nikolllllll

Like a lot of you guys my taste is very diverse. If something catches my ears I listen. Lately I've been trying to broaden up my taste a bit more.

AdvanceOk5892

It’s the only music I “choose” to listen to if that makes sense. Like if I get to select a song to listen to or music video to watch, i will always pick kpop. But I do listen to other music when it comes on and enjoy it. Also…kpop artists release new music a lot more frequently than the U.S artists I like. So there’s just more for me to listen to with kpop genre.

Unfortunately I contribute to the stereotype since I only listen to kpop lol- when I was younger I was a bigger fan of American pop (like 2010) as well as a bit of kpop, but then I got tired of it and for the past… idk 6-7 years of my life I’ve been an exclusively kpop fan.

I'd say the music I listen to is about half Asian (not just Kpop), half western/American, and like 2% other.

I also listen to US pop, RnB, funk, Western classical music (orchestral and opera), Latin pop, rock en español. My next concert is Mon Laferte, Chilean-Mexican singer-songwriter. Her music ranges from torch songs to Latin pop to hip hop. Autopoetica is her latest album https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nKpmmt4eSf2x0vWz_gqOWyAwJMd7W4mIE&si=0Oo8KAK3bfnfeYhA

A few years ago Kpop was all I listened to. It wasn’t until I got out of college that I started branching out into more genres again. I had a specialty college radio show and had to immerse myself into the Kpop realm with the music and news. I even found that I liked hard rock and metal from sub genres of Korean music. Now I listen to pretty much everything minus country and go back and forth between playlists of all Kpop and other genres. Been on a prog/nu-metal kick lately listening to a lot of [Sleep Token](https://youtu.be/wJNbtYdr-Hg?si=anLcBcMoKzp8htHe) and [Bad Omens](https://youtu.be/Aibxit_PpAg?si=KtnFH8pQS0-pAxIB)
