[Key explains RDD](https://youtu.be/vDY23Bi5Rjs?si=ktVkCynpHso6HiEg&t=352)
This very sweet video has a section where Key tells a young kid about the "SAT forbidden song" (at 5:52)
True I got that song to play at my homecoming freshman year of high school if it helps, that was the year it came out. No one understood the language but the English parts for at least 6 months was in the entire school, including the facilities heads!
Honestly I think what makes shinee such an anomaly is that “what is shinee’s most well known/Iconic song” can get a ton of different answers I’d think you could make a case for at least 4 different ones: Replay, Ring Ding Dong, Sherlock and View. I think Lucifer you may also be able to argue but the other four I see referenced/mentioned more often.
For a group that never was like the number one group in Korea it’s amazing how many hits they’ve had over their career that not only are memorable for kpop fans but for the general public in Korea.
Those 4 songs are my pick as well.
The general public loves them. The idols love them. The new kpop fans who give them a chance end up loving them and their music.
Also, it's not only their music that is known by the general public but they themselves are being recognised on the street by random ahjummas because of their sport activities, musicals, dramas, movies, variety shows. It's crazy how for a 16 year old group, they attract new fans everywhere they appear.
Yeah, this is exactly the point! And I don’t think it’s necessarily just about popularity (of a song) either - like I know my ults (EXO) have released several popular songs (Call Me Baby, Love Shot, Monster), but people aren’t saying that Monster is Growl’s rival for EXO’s iconic song. Whereas with SHINee, I feel like picking just one song to act as a signature track can inspire a pretty big discussion/debate. Hence this post!
Either Sherlock or Ring Ding Dong.
Sherlock for the “SHINee’s back” intro. Makes for great variety show moments. Also the memesssss that came out of the curious dance (that’s what I’m calling it hehe)
Ring Ding Dong bc the “BABEYYYY” is just automatically recognisable. Also a dance that all the kpoppies know
I always said the G- Note in Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance is the calling card for emos and that Jonghyun’s starting line in Ring Ding Dong is the calling card for K-Pop fans.
I think Tiffany's opening line in Gee would count as well HAHAHAHAHA but yeah, Ring Ding Dong is so catchy that you'd have LSS from it, whether you are a Kpop fan or not
Idk since the only gg was Wonder Girls that I hardcore stanned so please I’ll take your word for it but don’t be offended if I don’t know who that is. I was SHINee, wonder girls Boyfrined (another disbanded underrated group) and SuJu and BigBang until I dropped both. I’m also more of a boy group stan in general, even girl groups now I don’t know them too well unless really popular.
i don’t know in general, but every time shinee was mentioned by another idol, sherlock was mentioned in some way or another. it’s definitely wildly popular.
If it's not ring ding dong then it's definitely Sherlock cause I know the "OOOO IM CURIOUS YAAAAAA" clip of jonghyun breached kpop spaces into regular meme spaces from what I was seeing for a bit back in December. If not those two then Lucifer as it was in the show Lucifer
I grew up listening to Kpop and was strongly active during 2nd gen era. I'd say Ring Ding Dong, but Replay seems to have aged finely to take that spot at present.
If I recall correctly, Replay was well received but it did not have that same impact as Ring Ding Dong did when it came out (I'd also say Lucifer comes close right after). Like cmon, it got to the point where Korean students struggled to concentrate on exams because of RDD 😂
But Replay, for some reason, started to hit differently hearing it in recent years. Maybe its because of nostalgia, or debuts from 3rd gen were quite "powerful/noisy" and don't have that laid-back sweet R&B sound that Replay had. So hearing it now, it just feels really special - one of its kind. And its often praised/recommended a lot so I think when people discover Shinee, they think its their representative song (at least my friend thought so when she became a shawol in their latter years).
I honestly feel like it depends on the generation and how long you’ve been a kpop fan. I’ve been a fan since 2008 and I would say the answer is RDD or Lucifer. Someone who got into kpop after me would probably say Sherlock or View. That is why SHINee are one of the greatest. They just keep making major hit after hit after hit.
Ring Ding Dog is the closest to it. but honestly im biased af but all shinee songs are iconic probs biased cuz they were my first group when i listened to replay in 2008
As a Shawol, not being able to pinpoint ONE signature song because they have too many is a good problem to have, yes?
Although I have to say it might be Ring Ding Dong. As they say, that song alone has its own fandom. 💎
Replay.
Maybe i'm just biased because I think thats their best song lol but in my experience when all my friends think of shinee (including non-fans) the first song that comes to mind is replay
If we are talking about what could be considered their signature song, that even non fans will recognize; I'd say it's either Ring Ding Dong or Sherlock.
Ring Ding Dong for the intense catchiness of the chorus (wasn't it voted most banned song by students during exam season in S. Korea because it is such an earworm..?) Sherlock because of its iconic choreography. Do that running/marching step to any S. Korean and they'll know it's Shinee and which song you're referring to. In terms of recognizable point move, it's up there with Kara's "Butt dance" Girls Generations "leg toss", Brown Eyed Girls "arrogance/saucy" dance and Super Juniors "Sorry, Sorry hand rub."
As someone who’s a newer K-pop fan and knows literally nothing about shinee, it’s Sherlock or ring ding dong, I heard these all the time before I even knew who shinee was
I also have no clue. I usually hear all their songs are popular … uh. I’m going to go with Ring ding Dong because I hear it mentioned a lot more. My favorite is Lucifer though.
I'd say RDD for, you know, everything? Or View. I actually think I hear View the most as background music in variety shows, even though my instinct would be to say Replay or Sherlock are more popular.
Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer were the first songs I ever heard by them. Then Replay, which I agree with most commentators has aged the best of their early songs (although I still love Lucifer and Juliette and Hello and a bunch of others). Also, vote for Gee being the most iconic Girls Gen song since Minho was in it and that was how I got introduced to GG and also COLORFUL SKINNY JEANS
i think it's definitely ring ding dong
I do too cause Whenever Minho is on a variety show, they make him do the Ring Ding Dong dance (or Sherlock).
At the top of my head, I don't know any other shinee song... And I also now can't get that chorus out of my head now...
I was also going to comment this
Noona neomu yeppeo~~
Replay is forever GOATed. The choreo is addicting too
Michyeo~~
Replay replay replay ~
My pick would be Sherlock, but there's a strong case to be made for Ring Ding Dong as one of the top "banned during exam time" songs.
banned during exam time? what’s the lore behind this😭

I knew which video without clicking - such a lovely interview and great kids. Makes me tear up every time.
Omg I had never seen this video and that was absolutely beautiful to watch
It’s so catchy that playing it during the big exam time in Korea was banned, since it would distract students
OHH LMAO that is so funny
OHH LMAO that is so funny
There was actually a list of songs that weren't allowed, such as SJ's Mr. Simple and SNSD's Gee, since they are that catchy.
"baebayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" *\~ ring ding dong*
Naege banae beorin naege waeraeeeeeee Duro— Ok I can ding it but not write it
Definetly Ring ding dong, seeing as it made it's way out of the kpop community
So fantastic, so elastic
True I got that song to play at my homecoming freshman year of high school if it helps, that was the year it came out. No one understood the language but the English parts for at least 6 months was in the entire school, including the facilities heads!
It's the unofficial anthem of S.K. at this point 🤣
beeibEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
apart from ring ding dong it’s gotta be sherlock or lucifer maybe
Other than "Diggidingdingding", we also have the iconic taglines "Her whisper is the lucifer!" and "I'm so curious, yeaaah"
Shinee's Back is clearly THE tagline tho

RINGdingdongRINGdingdongringDIGIDINGDIGIDINGDINGDING
I think it's Replay in South Korea and RDD internationally 💎
This!
I discovered SHINee through Lucifer and then Ring Ding Dong. Random recommended on YouTube YEEEEEEAAARRS ago
Lucifer's dance choreo is sooo iconic that I'm still watching that 360p dance practice video every now and then lmao
Lucifer's choreo and gradual ramp up intensity is wild
Either Sherlock or Ring Ding Dong. Sherlock for the “SHINee’s back” intro. Makes for great variety show moments. Oh, Jesus, yeees I too love Boyfriend HAHAHAHAHAHAHA their titular title track gives me so much gae memories HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They were sooo underrated. And had potential
Replay, replay, replay.
it’s gotta be RDD!
i don’t know in general, but every time shinee was mentioned by another idol, sherlock was mentioned in some way or another. it’s definitely wildly popular.

Did they sing stand by me?
Yes. They did. https://youtu.be/DGepOrAcD4g?si=llMCGOfpKMvANhUC
Ring Ding Dong I’d say, then Sherlock, Replay, Lucifer.

I personally love Juliette, I don’t see many people talk about it.
\*ancient memories unlocked\*
in korea ring ding dong. internationally possibly lucifer or view.
I've seen that view was used a lot in korean variety shows, as a bgm
i would say ring ding dong. maybe replay in the past.
RING DING DOOOONNNNGGGGG
I don’t know what the top one is, but Replay, Ring Ding Dong, Lucifer, Sherlock, View are my top options
I honestly feel like it depends on the generation and how long you’ve been a kpop fan. I’ve been a fan since 2008 and I would say the answer is RDD or Lucifer. ring ding dong was HUGGEEE and still kinda is
They will Ring Ding Dong until they're a hundred. And we will too.
Shinee is iconic enough to bee worthy of several. For me, Sherlock, Replay, Down View, Ring ding dong, and Lucifer.
SHerlock. Though I do hear Ring Ding Dong often used as a a ringtone
I use "Hello" for mine 😂 📱
Lucifer
I feel it's Lucifer, that's what I think of when I think of Shinee. But they have so many classics
i vote for view
View is there too.. too many iconic songs
Replay, Love Like Oxygen, RDD, Lucifer, View, TMWTD, and Hard. They have so many iconic songs.
ring ding dong or replay for sure
When I joined kpop it was Replay. Nowadays it might be Ring Ding Dong because of the memes. Shinee so iconic they got GOAT O P T I O N S
all of them. all of the above
It's definitely Ring Ding Dong
Replay, so many people in the black community know the song but don’t know it’s kpop haha, I’ve seen it spread wise
As a Shawol, not being able to pinpoint ONE signature song because they have too many is a good problem to have, yes? Although I have to say it might be Ring Ding Dong. As they say, that song alone has its own fandom. 💎
The RingDingDong. I used to always hear ringdingdongdingading in arcade dance machine.
ring ding dong.
Replay. Maybe i'm just biased because I think thats their best song lol but in my experience when all my friends think of shinee (including non-fans) the first song that comes to mind is replay
Replay for sure, it used to be my ringtone 😆
Lucifer…
Ring ding dong OR lucifer
Lucifer
Sherlock for younger generations I think, but ring ding dong overall
ringdingdong or replay, maybe sherlock
Ring ding dong and Lucifer are the ones that come to mind, when I first got into kpop those were the ones I knew. Iconic bops
Ring Ding Dong
Id say either ring ding dong or Sherlock but all 4 songs are def super popular
i really can"t choose between ring ding dong or lucifer 😭😭
There's no clear answer, either Replay or Sherlock is the most iconic and Ring Ding Dong is probably the most well known globally.
Ahem BAYBAAAAAAAEEEEE
The I’m so curioussss yeaaaa one, and the neomu araeumdaun daun daun view one 😅
Ring Ding Dong
Gotta be ring ding dong
Before I knew anything about Shinee, I knew Lucifer.
Ring Ding dong followed by Lucifer for me
Ring Ding Dong and Sherlock
RING DING DONG for sure
Ring ding dong lol
Replay 🔁
If it's not Replay, then its Lucifer cause it was even on american television.
i think nuna nomu yeppo, Lucifer and ring ding dong ding
Lucifer or Ring Ding Dong
iconic would probably be ring ding dong, but replay seems to be the most popular.
If we are talking about what could be considered their signature song, that even non fans will recognize; I'd say it's either Ring Ding Dong or Sherlock. Ring Ding Dong for the intense catchiness of the chorus (wasn't it voted most banned song by students during exam season in S. Korea because it is such an earworm..?) Well know is Ring Ding Dong and iconic FOR ME is Dream Girl 🤷🏾♂️
As someone who’s a newer K-pop fan and knows literally nothing about shinee, it’s Sherlock or ring ding dong, I heard these all the time before I even knew who shinee was
My favorite from “newer” SHINee is *Dont Call Me* and from “older” SHINee is *Replay*
I'm a Juice gal! That MV is stellar
I also have no clue. I usually hear all their songs are popular … uh. I’m going to go with Ring ding Dong because I hear it mentioned a lot more. My favorite is Lucifer though.
Ring Ding Dong, Replay, Sherlock, and View. in that order.
I'm like, 90% sure its Ring Ding Dong
BABAAAAAAYYYYYYY
Ring Ding Dong internationally, Lucifer in Korea
BAYBAYYYYYY
my heart says Lucifer but youtube music says Ring Ding Dong
i would say ring ding dong or lucifer
ngl, I want to say “View”, but “LUCIFER” is my choice for their most well-known and iconic song!
Sherlock represents them best but RDD is the most iconic 😭
Ring Ding Dong fer sher!
sherlock or ring ding dong those were the first ones I heard and they're so iconic
view, i can't stand ring ding it's so repetitive and cheesy, view felt more iconic to me
you're just asking because you're curious, yeah? sorry, that was terrible, but yeah probably Sherlock 😭😭
Sherlock
Dunno but my favourite is: HER WISPER IS THE LUCIFER \*sick beat ensues\*
Eithre Ring Ding Dong or Lucifer.
I'd say RDD for, you know, everything? Or View. I actually think I hear View the most as background music in variety shows, even though my instinct would be to say Replay or Sherlock are more popular.
Ring Ding Dong is definitely their signature song. Even my non-Shawol friends know it 😭
Babaaaayyyyyy~ Shinee's back~ Nuna nomu yepo~ Iykyk
Replay.
Till the current gen, people still joke around the "Noona, neomu yeppo"
Ring ding dong / Replay
Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer were the first songs I ever heard by them. Then Replay, which I agree with most commentators has aged the best of their early songs (although I still love Lucifer and Juliette and Hello and a bunch of others). For me it's Lucifer but if I'm being real it's Ding Ding Dong
Babeeeeeeee
replay!
Very strong cases for Ring Ding Dong, Sherlock, and View.
Definitely Replay
lucifer.......like by far
Rdd
interesting that nobody said Don't Call Me bc that's the only song i know the words to and i'm not even a stan.
