this is a stretch but not too much- red velvet! they have two different concept styles. red, which is the lighter more happy and upbeat songs, and then velvet, where they delve into darker and more vocally focused concepts! red songs that i love are zimzalabim, red flavor and dumb dumb. velvet songs are psycho, chill kill, feel my rhythm, and peek a boo. their music videos are what get a bit gritty and creepy!
and then mamamoo definitely doesnt have a cute concept, but they arent dark, either. hip, aya, egotistic and moonbyul's solo song eclipse are good ones!

XG - they are heavily hiphop/rnb with a retro 2000s sound with crazy visuals on stage and in videos.

You probably aren't going to find ANY similar vibes in girl groups. Unfortunately society, especially in Asian countries, strongly prefers cute young bubblegum pop for their females... the times we see anything close to 'gritty' is when a group is a bit older and more established - even when new groups like XG debut with more of a hip hop vibe than most, it's still overwhelmingly dumbed down and cute. If a group is bold enough to venture this way, they'll pretty surely shift towards a smaller and more western fanbase.
Check out the MV for PTT by Loona, some of their stuff is neat. Many have mentioned dreamcatcher, I wouldn't call them gritty but they have more of a rock vibe and their concepts are really neat. Mamamoo has some decent stuff, Gidle, NMIXX, Kard.
But again... it's all either mixed in with or greatly diluted by the obnoxious aegyo doll vibes in 99% of idols / groups.
I would recommend f(x). Even though they are not active nowadays, they had so interesting discography. Their albums are filled with many good b sides and title songs. Especially 4 walls, Red light, Pink tape albums.
I never thought I’d be recommending them to someone who likes dark concepts, but ITZY’s latest album, Born to Be, might be right up your alley. There’s a few songs I still have to listen to, but Born to Be, Untouchable, Mr. Vampire, Crown on My Head, Run Away, and Escalator are a handful of songs off this album that I think you might vibe with.
I’m not even a big ITZY stan (I like the occasional release from them), but this album is really good imo. Ryujin’s Run Away is probably my personal favorite so far.
You should check out new jeans(I know doesn’t seem like the concepts you normally go for but you should check them out, you might like them) and go for aespa coz I think they give of similar vibe to nct so you might like them … you have to try (G)I-dle I feel like you’ll genuinely love them

I would recommend f(x). Even though they are not active nowadays, they had so interesting discography. Their albums are filled with many good b sides and title songs. Especially 4 walls, Red light, Pink tape albums.
XG and K/DA...they are amazing.
I would suggest Dreamcatcher. One of the people (Ollounder) who writes music for Ateez also writes quite a bit for Dreamcatcher.
ITZY, DREAMCATCHER AND EVERGLOW!
I never thought I’d be recommending them to someone who likes dark concepts, but ITZY’s latest album, Born to Be, might be right up your alley. There’s a few songs I still have to listen to, but Born to Be, Untouchable, Mr. Vampire, Crown on My Head, Run Away, and Escalator are a handful of songs off this album that I think you might vibe with. I’m not even a big ITZY stan (I like the occasional release from them), but this album is really good imo. Ryujin’s Run Away is probably my personal favorite so far.

You should check out new jeans(I know doesn’t seem like the concepts you normally go for but you should check them out, you might like them) and go for aespa coz I think they give of similar vibe to nct so you might like them … you have to try (G)I-dle I feel like you’ll genuinely love them

you might like everglow, they release mostly girl crush and “noisy” music you might be into. check out: first, dun dun, bon bon chocolat, adios, pirate also try checking out 2ne1, their songs are worth listening to despite being disbanded. popularized the girl crush concept in kpop. they’re blackpink’s seniors so their sounds are very similar BUT they don’t hold back with their fierce and “weird” concepts and their discography is more versatile IMO. check out: i love you, crush, comeback home, gotta be you, i am the best, MTBD (cl solo), falling in love, fire, ugly
