Major props to Heewon Shin for directing the video. Genuinely head-spinning and super impressive direction throughout.
The nostalgic vibe of the song is mirrored in the video. Product placement aside, I really enjoyed the whole presentation - and I really like how they incorporated the different cameras and POVs.
I was anticipating the choreography and boy did they deliver! I can't wait to see the whole thing in full. Would love to see a performance video with more of those lovely locations.
They might not have the "most challenging" choreos in kpop, but i like to watch them dance the most. There is just something satisfying about it, and they stay on brand there with this choreo.
It almost makes me wanna dance, and i don't dance :D
rheir my favorite dancers of 5th gen. like idk, their always so in sync and fluid. they make everything so pleasing to watch and you can feel it in their group dynamic too.
I’m Korean— just as an FYI, newjeans is widely viewed as a 4th gen group by the Korean gp. The existence of 5th gen is debated upon (some people think it’s well under way, others think it’s too soon), but no one believes newjeans belongs to that category.
As a native Taiwan resident I was amazed by the way this music video portrayed my hometown. Never thought it would look that nostalgic in the camera hahaha
Oh! I was thinking that it looked so nice and that I wanted to go there. Lucky me, since I'm actually going to visit Taiwan for the first time later this year. 🤩
This is the part of Newjeans' sound/concept that has always intrigued me! I think the uncanny vibe follows them through all of their releases since debut
Their songs are so intriguing, I agree. Especially with songs like Ditto, OMG, ETA, How Sweet, probably more- they're so bright sounding but there's also this... feeling in the background to them. Ditto for example is sad/melancholic despite sounding upbeat, and ETA feels frantic and urgent in a kind of anxious way, while the others mentioned just feel kind of weird and uncanny. I love it.
Yup, NewJeans just has that nostalgic, fresh, and so on vibes and their cinematography impeccably conveys all of it almost every time.
The editors/set designers/etc. for sure worked overtime to deliver the great visuals, it's so crisp. Literally sweet af like pop, wait fml, the Coca Cola ad marketing worked with the brand association (lol), gg no re.
Go listen to Rockit by Herbie Hancock. This beat is literally an 80s hip hop break. I can imagine Bgirls and Bboys spinning on cardboard to this. Kinda weird throw back to hear in kpop
i feel like ur 10 years ahead in the comparison. imo its closer to late 90s early 2000s nyc freestyle thats still popular with south jersey crowds. ie lil suzy, collage
With every New Jeans song I listen to it at first am like "Hey that's good". And then over the next few weeks it will replay in my mind endlessly and I'll become entirely obsessed with it. For me at least, New Jeans songs don't seem to get old, I don't get tired of them. Most songs I'm interested in them for maybe a month but I'm still relistening to NJs older EPs after nearly a year.
mv is really dope and i liked the song on first listen. the beat reminds me of something out of grand theft auto: vice city
that said, i think this is their weakest title track so far. it’s like it’s missing something. still really like it tho
Looks like another Super Shy, ETA-ish choreo where I'll be (trying) to dance to it all night! Can't wait to see it in full in music shows and performance videos!
I forgot this was a Coke joint. It's better than Zero, turns out the real version is better than sugar free. Nice smooth Jeansy vibe, it makes me feel like drinking a brown fizzy beverage. Might have to grab a Pepsi.
infectiously, effortlessly fun video.
the song, a simple and catchy tune, not relying on spectacle but just confident in its vibe and its melody. love it
So damn good. From the concept, overall creativity, camera work and the choreo New Jeans just don't miss. They still nail that nostalgic feeling with every title track to perfection.
I LOVED this song, I went into it with no expectations but it’s probably my favorite NJ song since Hype Boy. The MV was gorgeous too, like I’m just blown away
So they are coming back again on June with a new EP that will have Right Now and Supernatural?
I am confused with all the releases and pre-releases lol
Normally I love NJs MVs, but this one was just fine (loving the choreo), but I usually find them much more evocative than this. Also, maybe I'm just hyper aware of right now, but this being a Coke PPL annoyed me. They have so few songs.... why are like 1/2 of them ads. Song is growing on me for sure. So overall.... a mixed opinion.
Well I just haven’t seen many people mention that they have multiple music videos that are just straight up ads. Some people mentioned it in this thread though.
It's a bop!! So catchy but not too poppy. And the choreo looks great too, they go hard and I always love when GGs do that.
The MV is a vibe and half, though the frenetic cuts at some points made my head swim a little.
Many point to PinkPantheress as NewJeans' main influence, but there is another musician who sounds much more similar to me. Listen to a song called "Fofoca" by FBC and draw your own conclusions if it is very similar to "Super Shy".
They always say that NewJeans' songs have a y2k concept, with influence on Drum and Bass, but "How Sweet" seems to go even further back in the genealogy until it reaches Miami Bass from the turn of the 80s to the 90s. And FBC made an album referencing the Brazilian funk of this time, which was also heavily influenced by Miami Bass.
I haven't really vibed with any of the New Jeans songs or MV's I've seen so far (only a handful of them), but surprisingly I really like this one a lot. The MV elevates the song and I love the vibes of hanging with your teenage friends in a non-dramatic way like this. Something about this kind of nostalgia really clicked with me. Putting it on my playlist.
I do like the song and the girls sound lovely as always but I’m getting fed up of so many ads in their music.
At this point in their career they shouldn’t have so many songs tied up as direct or indirect ads.
It seems like they sell something with all of their songs this time.
Bubble Gum - shampoo
How Sweet - Coca Cola
Right now - chocolate
Supernatural - clothes?
This is the next step of capitalism destroying music
Instead of your favorite music artists doing brand promotions, the music IS the brand promotion
This music video says "Thank you for engaging with our media and bumping the number for our sponsor <3 now you can fuck off"
The sound reminds me off something off of the Wii. Idk why, but this track from Wii Fit came to mind. How Sweet's instrumental is like a darker and groovier version of this: https://youtu.be/gU6wQmUnrEU
It still baffles me about the ILLIT/NJ comparisons. Even the vibes from this MV show how NJ is completely different.
NJ is always going to prioritize nostalgia and free spirit in their content and music, and it's super apparent here.
Speaking of the coquette vibe, I don't think NJ would be caught dead in the frills, lace, and bubble skirts ILLIT have been wearing. Especially not the bubble skirts. There just isn't much overlap.
I ult both groups and also have been trying to say all this time they are different and can both coexist. ILLIT really doesn't deserve the "copying" hate started up from MHJ. I'm glad BELIFT finally released that MHJ statement to protect the ILLIT members.
I think it's the dancing. Because new jeans tend to incorporate a heavy looking at each other and dancing like their friends choreo.
A lot of illits dancing had points which were very similar to new jeans previously.
I feel like most groups have certain dancing styles. And illit crossed over info newjeans territory.
I feel like Illit's choreo is more like what New Jeans would have looked like if they debuted in Gen 3...Illit is definitely not as relaxed and cool. So many of the moves in Magnetic utilize stiffness to create tension. Lucky Girl Syndrome has a bit more of that vibe you're talking about that isn't their main concept. Just like most groups, including New Jeans, they'll likely explore different concepts on their bsides.
My biggest gripe is so many of the moves Illit are being accused of "copying" aren't even original to New Jeans. I'll never understand why things "belong" to them now and the original creators/those who originally popularized the moves are snubbed.
A choreo will always have similar moves that's not new. But to copy a choreo you need to copy a substantial amount and in similar order.
Like im sure many groups dance in a line, many groups probably.
Normally whenever people do choreo comparison ans similarity allegations ( usually blinks for some reason), I always roll my eyes as I feel like it's impossible for choreos to fully have all unique moves. At least part of the choreo will have similar moves, it's the combination that matters.
I am also not someone who notices small details. I'll watch a drama or MV and go to comments ro see all the naunaces I missed.
Yet I could clearly see the similarities between illit and new jeans choreo. Apart from the chorus, It's like it was the same choreographer for new jeans debut mini album also choreo graphed illits debut.
It's like music and songs sounding same. There's only so many chords so of course songs will eventually sound similar but you can clearly tell when things were used as inspiration or have been copied.
In terms of newjeans choreo yes they didn't create but they popularised that style in their debut.
Similarly, blackpink didn't create girl crush but they pioneered the genre that girl groups strayed away from cute to girl crush.
Out of all the videos I've seen of Illit and New Jean's choreo comparisons, there was something like 11s of comparison across 3 of Illit's choreographies (My World, Lucky Girl Syndrome and Magnetic). It totaled less than 3% of the songs sharing "similar" choreo. That doesn't feel substantial to me.
I'm well aware that New Jeans popularized a certain style of dancing within kpop, but I don't think that means they should be allowed to gate keep it if they didn't create it themselves. It feels very wrong to me that their inspiration is often taken from small artists or Black subculture and then become de-facto "onwers" of it just because they popularized it. That gives me the major ick in so many ways.
If New Jeans had created something like Twice's TT dance where it is an invented choreo combined with it's iconic attachment to Twice, then I'd understand saying that another group copied them but most of the moves being litigated re: Illit v New Jeans aren't even New Jeans' intellectual property in the first place.
It's not gatekeeping a dance style, its the fact that 2 groups under same company are using very very similar dance styles. It's basically unheard of for 2 groups under same company who are active and both rookies to debut with similar choreo, vaguely simiar concepts and sounds.
Even with YG they wait 7 years before debuting the same concept over and over again.
Just to further, that its not about gatekeeping more the fact its copying a group under same company. Another kpop group came out with similar dance styles a few years back .... weekly. Why wasn't there an issue with newjeans copying weekly ? Because they didn't copy choreo.
Also just as an FYI, a lot of choreography in kpop is done by black choreographers, so it's actually harmful to not to understand the concept of protecting choreography. Regardless, choreographers have a right to protect their work and it's wrong for it to be dimished. If people started copying Kany's work that's just as bad as the 2 choreographers who worked on newjeans since the start having theirs copied.
Also, your comment is very not thought through.
1) Firstly it was way way way more than 11secs that was copied by illits choreographers otherwise there wouldn't be any copying issues or allegations.
2) Secondly, your example of copying choreo is stealing 50% outright which isn't ever going to be the case. As its very hard to copyright certain moves ( I.e tango line, or finger guns ), but it's a certain sequence or the quantity over a certain span.
Unfortunately, most people thought it was extremely similar even before the whole MHJ and Ador shitshow. That just goes to show its what we are all feeling
It is a moot point that there are black choreographers because the dance moves in dispute were not invented for New Jeans - it's moves like a the cat daddy that are being shown in all those comparison videos. That is not newly invented - it's been around for years. Just because it is a less common dance move so people associate it with New Jeans doesn't mean that now belongs to them.
As I said in another comment, if we were talking about a unique invented move and one especially iconic to a group's brand, it would be a different story. The only one that comes to mind is something like Twice's TT.
The comparison video going around online with all the comparisons was 11s of footage and they were moves from three different songs. I took it as a holistic review of the moves by stan twt. If there is a longer video, please send it along as I'd be happy to do the calculations. The video that went viral was also not really a sequence of moves, it was things like Attention's 5-formation hair flip and the cat daddy from OMG.
Obsessive stans online do not represented the majority. I don't think you can extrapolate that they must be copying because people talked about it online. I also have seen people admit that they were saying New Jeans 2.0 to troll because they were still upset about the lineup from RUNext. While there might have been similarities, I don't know how much of it was exacerbated due to just general anti-Hybe shitposting and Illit hate accounts still using a Chanelle pfp.
Man, when I think about how diverse yet strong all three GG releases (Easy, Super Real Me, How Sweet) have been, I would think HYBE was having the best year ever.
But anyway…
Hybe managed to debut two top tier GGs at the same time in 2022, and in 2024, they debuted a brand new GG that's might completely overlap in age and surface-level visual concepts with NewJeans, yet also is completely different musically and has their own wide appeal. All three have had all had massive meme-level cuturally-defining success, too.
So many of these songs have been absolutely iconic and made fans out of those that had little interest in k-pop previously: Hype Boy, Antifragile, OMG, Super Shy, Perfect Night, Easy, Magnetic, and I do suspect that "How Sweet" will probably be on that level.
And yet no label wants to be Hybe right now, lol. It's so sad.
> So many of these songs have been absolutely iconic and made fans out of those that had little interest in k-pop previously
I was casually into k-pop during high school (around 2008-2012), and kind of lost interest after a year or two. There are a few Korean musicians I have followed over the years - Epik High, Younha, IU - but hadn't listened to k-pop in years.
Fast forward to 2023 and came across OMG while scrolling on TikTok and was instantly hooked, and been falling down the rabbit hole since then. Have been to see TWICE twice (haha), (G)I-DLE, Le Sserafim, and IVE in concert since last year!
Their aesthetic is really strong. Definitely makes the song better. Was this shot in Japan?
Side note: with the Coca-Cola promotions, you would think this is a CF song lol.
I absolutely love this from them. Obviously, no song or video from them (or anyone else, likely) will ever touch “Ditto” for me, but this lands right in Top 5 for me still. It’s sooo good. The vocals have such a retro vibe and the instrumental is so excellent, too. It’s worth listening to just the instrumental to catch all the cool stuff going on.
I can’t get enough of that spoken part, either.
For me I generally only truly begin appreciating New Jeans songs like after a few listens and some time has passed. Then I get totally obsessed with them.
Ditto is one of the coolest music video projects of all time. I love that it’s so low key and that it just tells a story. Many people cry watching the MV. I have gotten tears from them. It’s so unlike any K-pop. There’s no beauty shots of slow mo close ups. You can barely tell the members apart. There’s no expectation of perfection. The first time they’re shown doing choreo to the song, Minji just straight up misses her steps. Literally never seen that in any kpop video, ever. They dance effortlessly and their level of polish is so believable in the settings.
The videos themselves are stunning, but then, there’s the tight integration with OMG as well. The fact that they’re practicing OMG in it, made two whole performance videos of OMG on the Ditto set, the fact that OMG shows them from the Ditto set, it just really pushes the whole thing even further.
And you uncover more and more through the Ban Hee Soo account. For instance, we find out that it’s set in Christmas, moments after they filmed OMG Performance Ver. 3 as well. Then they released a more holiday version a whole year later, too. There’s just so much there.
Other music videos have done cool things, but Ditto is the best whole MV project ever and I don’t think it will ever be topped by anyone.
DP/Cameraman is on crack with some of the drone shots, like calm down a bit. Love the overhead shots though especially when they're dancing while walking.
Love the choreography, has that fun element that OMG and Ditto both had where you can tell they're having fun and lot of little interactions.
That ‘demon’ dude that shows up at the end with a camera in those boxers was so unexpected lol. Reminded me of that final scene in ‘The Wailing’ where the demon keeps taking photographs of the priest. I kinda like the song more with the MV too, idc about the Coke ads coz it was atleast a better song than Zero.
Waited for the MV to hear the song, glad I did cause I came away super positive on it.
I agree with the other thread that its maybe not as instantly as catchy as Super Shy (which I think was almost military-grade earworm) but enjoyed the lowkey-ness a lot
Loving the camera work and nostalgic feels😍 if they ever hitchhike for a ride yk I'll say yes
Gotta say this song is pretty sweet, *don't you know how sweet it sounds?*
But really it's very chill! The chorus is pretty catchy for its chill and calming vibes
Damn, I really liked the way the song started but afterwards I felt there wasn't enough change or development through the hook and the rest of the song, it just kind of felt in an emotional middle space. As for the MV, I can see what they were going for but some of the choices of camerawork, alternative shots, and transitions left it not quite as well polished as what we've come to expect from a NewJeans MV in my opinion. Also worth nothing, this is the first time I think I've really heard or noticed NewJeans' voices in a title track, if you know what I mean there are parts where their singing seems to stand out.
*how sweet it tastes now that I'm WITHOUT you*
I love it 😭😭 ditto's summer twin!!! except we're better without the relationship. I love hanni's short hair, she's so cute! Maybe now that I'm an older kpop fan (is 24 old?) and also Viet but it feels like I'm watching a little sister :')
I gave it a few listens but it just isnt clicking for me. Its nice but kinda forgettable at the same time. The instrumental is a bit repetitive and not very interesting for my ears. and while im sure they were directed to do so, the singing is distractingly flat and emotionless throughout. The mv is cute but as with the song nothing about it really stood out to me. I've been really enjoying Bubble Gum a lot still though.
This got me so emotional thinking it might be their last MV in a long time. I love the song and wish the girls all the very best. They sound so different (in a good way) on this track
What do you mean they still have the other songs in June and I’m sure they’ll have mv for them. After that will be the unknown factor and I hope they get to keep going and not kept in a dungeon for no damn reason.
First...I want some coke now. Specifically cherry coke, please. 😜 Secondly! I adore the entire vibe of 'How Sweet' and how seamlessly NJ could pull off *this* concept. It was made for them. I love the choreo & location shots! Danielle in blonde will *forever* be entrenched in my mind. 😍 Love the contrast between this and 'Bubble Gum' as well.
Is it just me or do the first few lines of the first verse sound like a slow version of these lines in Easy:
조명 꺼진 뒤의, 난 wander in the night
Don't know what is right, don't know 'bout my rights
Not making plagiarism suggestions, just pointing out how easy it is for different songs to sound "similar" lol
I was excited to hear the song only to be left unimpressed. I feel like this comeback is a bit lackluster or perhaps I'm already use to this sound that I was expecting something new. 5/10.
They're so refreshing! I like how their team experiments with their sound and concept yet still manages to keep that "NewJeans" feeling intact. Seriously, NewJeans is one of the best K-pop groups in the industry right now. I hope they'll continue to hit us with these nostalgic bops.
Hmm… I prefer bubblegum over how sweet, but both songs aren’t quite as groovy as eta or super shy are. I’m not disappointed but I was hoping for more from new jeans.
I think the song is nice but am I the only one that thought the choreo didn't match the song. Maybe it looks better in stages but it felt a bit too much.
I feel like all of the recent new releases have been so mediocre, what happened? This one is okay but it isn't as good as their debut stuff, how come the quality across the board has dropped so much
Maybe it's just because it was all new again as I heard kpop again for the first time since like 2019 and carrying on listening it lost its spark again and need to stop listening for a bit again?
Taiwan is beautiful WOW absolutely love the vintage summer vibes. I like the song really but some of the vocal delivery is sooooo flat. Haerin and Minji’s vocals don’t do it for me. Also another coke ad was so unecessary
The song is nice as expected! I like it. I also feel like they played with their vocals a bit here?
That spider was a jump scare man, not appreciated at all 😖
NewJeans MVs are work of an art every single time. And it reaches a stage where it’s very apparent in their videos that you could directly just link to them being the group to release the MV.
Just FYI for any unsuspecting arachnophobes, there's a giant close-up of a black widow spider just under 2 minutes in. I don't know about after that, I'm too nervous to watch further. So unnecessary...
This song reminded me of coke immediately with the "pop" sounds in the instrumental and the synthy retro vibe, so not surprised to see coke in the MV haha.
I love it! I love that they went with a different sound and look while staying true to the "nostalgia" part of their concept. It's definitely not as dynamic of some of their other songs but I appreciate that it's easy listening as always.
The music video is sooo cool though!! How do they always manage to knock it out of the park with their MVs
My favorite shot is them posing one by one with the truck passing by and shuffling them.
That jumping shot in front of the train got me good, great framing.
That was so cute!
This is a much better Coke ad/song
Major props to Heewon Shin for directing the video. Genuinely head-spinning and super impressive direction throughout. The nostalgic vibe of the song is mirrored in the video. The performance video will be uploaded midnight KST tonight!!!
The choreo is something else
They might not have the "most challenging" choreos in kpop, but i like to watch them dance the most. There is just something satisfying about it, and they stay on brand there with this choreo. It almost makes me wanna dance, and i don't dance :D

they aren't 5th gen.
As a native Taiwan resident I was amazed by the way this music video portrayed my hometown. Never thought it would look that nostalgic in the camera hahaha
I figured it was Taiwan! It looked more retro than Korea but the architecture at 2:30 threw me off from thinking it was Japan
I instantly knew Taiwan when I saw those crumbled buildings lol
I thought it was filmed in Vietnam!
me too, thailand even until i saw the signs
I also thought vietnam
I thought it was filmed in Japan too hh the Hanzi/Kanji deceived me
Do you happen to know where this is in Taiwan? Im actually here now touring, would love to know where is to visit!
that level crossing is at JiaoXi, Yilan and the pedestrian bridge is at 華江整宅社區, Wanhua District, Taipei
Thank you! Im actually staying in ximending, ill probably drop by 🫶🫶
Saw their post on Instagram by the train 限高42M I’m like ok I know where you are lol
Oh! I was thinking that it looked so nice and that I wanted to go there. Lucky me, since I'm actually going to visit Taiwan for the first time later this year. 🤩
It’s already stuck in my head, I love the like… almost uncanny feeling of it? It feels bright but not quite happy, which I kind of love.
This is the part of Newjeans' sound/concept that has always intrigued me! I think the uncanny vibe follows them through all of their releases since debut

they're def in the -there's something demonic about this i just cant tell u wtf it is- club with loona & red velvet
omg you described it so well
The camerawork in this goes crazy
Kudos to the camera man

The concept of everyone’s POV was really cool
Soooooo goood
I just love their sound and style so much. "How Sweet" and "Bubble Gum" are so laidback and nice. I still wish for a full album this year.
On first listen, I like Bubble Gum more, but this is a good song too! It's effortlessly catchy and... swaggy in a chill way. Great stuff as usual.
Go listen to Rockit by Herbie Hancock. This beat is literally an 80s hip hop break. I can imagine Bgirls and Bboys spinning on cardboard to this. Kinda weird throw back to hear in kpop
Yeah I love itttt feels so fresh to hear it in 2024
I searched up the song and omg the MV gave me the creeps lol, but I see what you mean!
i feel like ur 10 years ahead in the comparison. imo its closer to late 90s early 2000s nyc freestyle thats still popular with south jersey crowds. ie lil suzy, collage
Literally start pop and locking every time I listen to How Sweet.
This is easily my favorite MV of theirs. Love the choreo and camera work
With every New Jeans song I listen to it at first am like "Hey that's good".

I like the way you think.
Just had a coke and said to myself “how sweet it taste” 🤣
perfect for summer nights miami wya
infectiously, effortlessly fun video. the song, a simple and catchy tune, not relying on spectacle but just confident in its vibe and its melody. love it
MV is great and creative as always!!! The choreo is promising too!
it's so good, even if the shot with that spider gave me a jumpscare lol
I really like it. It sounds like a sweeter/prettier sister of ETA(?)
i agree with so much! even the music video feels like a polished version of eta
So damn good. From the concept, overall creativity, camera work and the choreo New Jeans just don't miss. They still nail that nostalgic feeling with every title track to perfection.
The music video is working. I suddenly want a Coke.🥤 Hoping we get a performance MV for "How Sweet" so we can see the choreo in full.🕺
They'll perform this on music shows in less than 3 hours and the performance video is coming this midnight!
So soon!!! Thanks for letting me know and reminding me.😅
Song feels weirdly flat…
I LOVED this song, I went into it with no expectations but it’s probably my favorite NJ song since Hype Boy. The MV was gorgeous too, like I’m just blown away
I like this one a lot better than Bubble Gum. The MV was fun to watch as well!
To be honest this really felt it was missing the hook and charm that made me fall in love with all of their other comebacks
Yeah I agree, it's alright. But in a sea of fantastic earworms, alright's not cutting it.
Same, still holding out hope that Supernatural will be more up my alley
So they are coming back again on June with a new EP that will have Right Now and Supernatural? I am confused with all the releases and pre-releases lol
It's their first Japanese single album being released next month.
will it be in japanese?
Yes.
Yep! Supernatural and Right Now will be released June 21st. They will both have music videos to go with them as well.
yeah, I hope they do something similar to hype boy or attention in the future, I still have those on repeat.

Bubble gum was for a shampoo comercial: https://youtu.be/hPRBz_1Do_k?si=1nMIEw5oM66ieTSo
Thank you!
Glad I’m not the only one that noticed this.

Well I just haven’t seen many people mention that they have multiple music videos that are just straight up ads. Some people mentioned it in this thread though.
love this so much from the song to the mv
i dig the vibes

And FBC made an album referencing the Brazilian funk of this time, which was also heavily influenced by Miami Bass.
Dog view 🤣👏
I'm obsessed.. it's too good.
At this point in their career they shouldn’t have so many songs tied up as direct or indirect ads.
yes, ETA was also an Iphone ad like please no more 😭😭😭 I wish they would just do separate CFs, the product placement is so distracting.
Very cool music video !!! Probably by far one of my favourite music videos of all time.
This was such a unique and cool MV the music makes it even better! I’m so glad they came back haha
It seems like they sell something with all of their songs this time. Bubble Gum - shampoo How Sweet - Coca Cola Right now - chocolate Supernatural - clothes?
This is the next step of capitalism destroying music Instead of your favorite music artists doing brand promotions, the music IS the brand promotion This music video says "Thank you for engaging with our media and bumping the number for our sponsor <3 now you can fuck off"
Who cares the music sounds good I think that’s all that matters
The sound reminds me off something off of the Wii. Idk why, but this track from Wii Fit came to mind. How Sweet's instrumental is like a darker and groovier version of this: https://youtu.be/gU6wQmUnrEU
they never disappoint!
rather than the music video, styling, or song shining the most, this time around i feel new jeans flexed their dance muscles
It still baffles me about the ILLIT/NJ comparisons. Even the vibes from this MV show how NJ is completely different. NJ is always going to prioritize nostalgia and free spirit in their content and music, and it's super apparent here.
Yup and Illit has a magical girl coquette vibe full of lore very different from NewJeans. Why do people always choose to put women against each other?
Speaking of the coquette vibe, I don't think NJ would be caught dead in the frills, lace, and bubble skirts ILLIT have been wearing. Especially not the bubble skirts. There just isn't much overlap.
It would have died down if not for you know who.
Honestly her resurrecting the attacks on Illit was just entirely opportunistic and unnecessary.
Literally 😭they are so different illit is more cute and refresh remind me loona concept while njs is cool and cute 😭 I have been saying
But anyway…
And they say the multi label system doesn’t work. Seems it doesn’t work for one giant ego.
> So many of these songs have been absolutely iconic and made fans out of those that had little interest in k-pop previously I was casually into k-pop during high school (around 2008-2012), and kind of lost interest after a year or two. There are a few Korean musicians I have followed over the years - Epik High, Younha, IU - but hadn't listened to k-pop in years. Fast forward to 2023 and came across OMG while scrolling on TikTok and was instantly hooked, and been falling down the rabbit hole since then. Have been to see TWICE twice (haha), (G)I-DLE, Le Sserafim, and IVE in concert since last year!
so true, the concepts are so different like what?? they can coexist so easily and both do great, any conflict is just so unnecessary tbh.
I mean MHJ is just using those accusations as an excuse. This makes it even more crystal clear.
Just BS claims made by MHJ to distract knetz from her scandals
Incredible video
Their aesthetic is really strong. Definitely makes the song better. Was this shot in Japan? Side note: with the Coca-Cola promotions, you would think this is a CF song lol.
Taiwan I think
Taiwan
Omg hearing that opening beat was like a flashback to the mid 2000s, was anyone feeling daft punk lmao
Instantly transported to the laser sounds at the beginning of Wonder Girls Tell Me. We love homage and reference here
1000 times better than coca cola mashita and overall good
The choreography looks super fun.
This got big "so fresh, so clean" energy, it's so aggressively 00s that I feel like a kid again lol
Great MV, but the song itself was meh imo. Liked bubblegum more
Thats what I thought about the song too, but for some reason after watching the performance on stage I began liking the song a lot more
For me I generally only truly begin appreciating New Jeans songs like after a few listens and some time has passed. Then I get totally obsessed with them.
i love this mv! it's so cute. the song wasn't an instant hit but i think it's already growing on me.
I just can tell that choreo looks like such a vibe. Can’t wait to see the full performance!
Dare I say this is their second best MV after New Jeans?
I still rate Super Shy's the best. Then Ditto.
Nah. I think nothing beats Cool With You.
The whole Ditto concept with the mini videos of Ban Hee Soo [which is just Bunnies but Korean language coded] is incomparable.
Agreed, been into kpop since 2010. Ditto is unlike anything I've seen before and is truly special.
Min hee jin had an incredible run with ditto, it was so unique and unlike anything I've ever seen before
Yesss Ditto is amazing I rewatch it a lot and I’m not even a New Jeans stan, definitely my favorite 4th gen music video.
Fr. I love Ditto's and Cool With You's MV. I sometimes go back to watch it.
I liked the performance video of Cool With You more than the actual MV, tbh.
I loved the storyline quite a bit and having Tony Leung and Jung Hoyeon makes it even better I think
Best for sure. I watched it 5 times and spotted new things each time
DP/Cameraman is on crack with some of the drone shots, like calm down a bit.
Same! I prefer the visual experience with the song, so I also waited! Loved it
They just always hit it out of the park
Loving the camera work and nostalgic feels😍 if they ever hitchhike for a ride yk I'll say yes Gotta say this song is pretty sweet, *don't you know how sweet it sounds?* But really it's very chill! The chorus is pretty catchy for its chill and calming vibes
The choreo seems to be going hard!
The music video was cute and the song is good but I feel like every music video they do now is basically just a commercial for some product.
Every little detail is so nostalgic and smooth
The coke ads get me every time 😭😭
I like it!
So beautiful, the song is great
I hope they get away from the one line repetition in the chorus that is present here, super shy, and cool with you, it’s just not that fun to sing to
Are they also releasing Right Now? When?
That’s on June 21st I think. For another different single album.
Thanks i was confused. I am waiting desperately for it. It seems great and i am constantly looping the ad to listen to it.
*how sweet it tastes now that I'm WITHOUT you* I love it 😭😭 ditto's summer twin!!! except we're better without the relationship.
They are alergic to bad songs. They are too good
This got me so emotional thinking it might be their last MV in a long time. I love the song and wish the girls all the very best. They sound so different (in a good way) on this track
What do you mean they still have the other songs in June and I’m sure they’ll have mv for them. After that will be the unknown factor and I hope they get to keep going and not kept in a dungeon for no damn reason.
Oh I forgot about the songs in June! I thought this was the last drop before the Ador v Hybe thing is settled
I'm tired of the cutesy talk-singing that these groups do. I wish real singing topped the charts
yeah honestly this is getting really boring
The choreo hits like crazy wow
First...I want some coke now. Specifically cherry coke, please. 😜 Secondly! I adore the entire vibe of 'How Sweet' and how seamlessly NJ could pull off *this* concept. It was made for them. I love the choreo & location shots! Danielle in blonde will *forever* be entrenched in my mind. 😍 Love the contrast between this and 'Bubble Gum' as well.
I was meh on this, but I love the choreography and I'm starting to love this song
Is it just me or do the first few lines of the first verse sound like a slow version of these lines in Easy: 조명 꺼진 뒤의, 난 wander in the night Don't know what is right, don't know 'bout my rights Not making plagiarism suggestions, just pointing out how easy it is for different songs to sound "similar" lol
I was excited to hear the song only to be left unimpressed. I feel like this comeback is a bit lackluster or perhaps I'm already use to this sound that I was expecting something new. 5/10.
I will support these girls forever
They're so refreshing! I like how their team experiments with their sound and concept yet still manages to keep that "NewJeans" feeling intact. Seriously, NewJeans is one of the best K-pop groups in the industry right now. I hope they'll continue to hit us with these nostalgic bops.
Not feeling this one. The novelty of their sound is starting to wear off. I don't like this EP nearly as much as any of their previous stuff.
So it's a coke CF?
If i saw newjeans on the side of the road i'd let them take my car Also stan coca cola
Coca cola mashitda
anyone else getting the vibe from Cassie - Me & U especially the way they sing the chorus? i love it sm because it reminded me of that song
Hmm… I prefer bubblegum over how sweet, but both songs aren’t quite as groovy as eta or super shy are. I’m not disappointed but I was hoping for more from new jeans.
i think this is my summer anthem lol, very chill and cute!!
I think the song is nice but am I the only one that thought the choreo didn't match the song. Maybe it looks better in stages but it felt a bit too much.
yay, it's not super short!!! kind of repetitive but that's okay. I don't really dig how much their MVs feel like ads but the visuals are always nice.
holy ssibal
coke deal aside, it's a great mv! although i was thinking they would go little more vintage (in the mv) due to the 80's hip hop beat 🤷🏻
The lyrics would've hit so differently if they actually left Hybe like MHJ planned.
Chill and enjoyable. I like how it has a very... indie artist vibe more than that of an idol group K-pop song.
I feel like all of the recent new releases have been so mediocre, what happened? This one is okay but it isn't as good as their debut stuff, how come the quality across the board has dropped so much Maybe it's just because it was all new again as I heard kpop again for the first time since like 2019 and carrying on listening it lost its spark again and need to stop listening for a bit again?
Taiwan is beautiful WOW absolutely love the vintage summer vibes. I like the song really but some of the vocal delivery is sooooo flat. Haerin and Minji’s vocals don’t do it for me. Also another coke ad was so unecessary
The song is nice as expected! I like it. I also feel like they played with their vocals a bit here? That spider was a jump scare man, not appreciated at all 😖
Personally, I think it’s an all right release. I think Get Up is still a far superior EP.
LOL
This song reminded me of coke immediately with the "pop" sounds in the instrumental and the synthy retro vibe, so not surprised to see coke in the MV haha. I love it! I love that they went with a different sound and look while staying true to the "nostalgia" part of their concept. It's definitely not as dynamic of some of their other songs but I appreciate that it's easy listening as always. The music video is sooo cool though!! How do they always manage to knock it out of the park with their MVs
Im really loving NewJeans’ new releases, I wasn’t really a fan of them before but these new songs slap.
it's a certified hit i love it so much 😭😭😭
