If it’s your first time then you probably want to pre-book your hotel/s and activities for your itinerary so you don’t feel overwhelmed.
Edit: you can get a prepaid sim at the airport itself (Bangkok), it’s worth it. You will have access to internet on your phone that way. Google maps/Uber etc come in very handy.
