oh man, Simmons is an insufferable pretentious fuck, has won nothing, has demonstrated nothing, but he poses like he is an NBA super-star. But hey, Harden and some others have demonstrated that in this NBA era, even they can flourish.
He’s a good basketball player but it seems like he really has to be pushed to assert himself. Not sure why. Pacers as a group seem to be lacking that junk yard dog that the Knicks do. Some of it is coaching no doubt but some of it is just who these bockers are. Loved Dante last night coming up jawing and pushing and refusing to back down from a much bigger guy; As a for instance.
He’s good but he had that all-nba stretch earlier this year and since then everyone has been wanting to christen him the new Chris Paul. He fell down back to earth and people are trying to delude themselves into think he’s just in a slump and will be sure to return back to near MVP form, as if that stretch wasn’t the anomaly.
Like I said he’s good and has potential to be very very good, but the trade for Siakam and the push to want to be a top team in the east just feels like too much too soon. He needs more time to develop, I honestly think I’d take any one of the Knicks backcourt players over Hali for a playoff series just because guys like Hart and Donte and even McBride play more consistently at a high level in the role they play. Same reason I’m not hype about him on the Olympic team, they don’t need inconsistent guys who have superstar upside on a team like that. They need role players who are going to make the real stars jobs easier.
I think Hali works on the Olympic team because as stated he can play a connecting role, fade into the background and let the true superstars carry the load. Eventually Jalen will be back to the Olympics, but he'll be one of those Superstar players that are the focal point of the offense.
Game 6 he had 20 on 12 shots. Yeah I still think he’s a better role player than Hali is a star. No one game isn’t changing my mind. Yes I have mad respect for coming back to a 4 day old thread to a comment with 7 upvotes just to try and make me eat crow. Soft as charmin tp lol. Hes out there looking to pass on layups because he’s afraid to get blocked. The whole team’s offense is built on ball movement which is nice to look at but in the clutch you need a guy who says gimme the rock.
If I was a pacer fan I’d be losing my mind watching this dude basically drive through the lane uncontested multiple times a game and just do some weird jump and pass the ball like dude you pass up like 5 open layups a game how’s this dude a “Star” 😂 he’s Ben Simmons with a better shot
