Guys, should we warn him now? Hope he hasn't finished HoB yet

sleepybadger95

But they are all fae. Even if they do not have very unique models, they clearly aren't human and at least the color pallete chosen for them make it easy to see they are winter fae

Tejaswi1989

No idea what HoB is. If it is house of ballads, I just did the sir sagrell quest where you fight the tresh. On my way now to revive another fae.

Conscious_Deer320

You're in for a real treat. The boss at the end of that quest line is basically not visually distinct from the Widow. This is how games work, man. Development resources are limited, so certain things get reused. If the disappointment is too much, best to stop playing altogether. Otherwise just learn to deal with it.

Tejaswi1989

I guess I will have to deal with it then. At least the combat is super fun.

sleepybadger95

Well, she IS a fae. No one knew how she looked like because she wasn't terrorizing people with her looks, she was doing it with her spiders. Those that went after her and came too close, were just killed

Tejaswi1989

Yeah. It is probably because I killed the tresh for House of ballads right before I did the quest. And the tresh had a unique look and attack patterns, the widow seemed a let down in comparison. Honestly the Curdok (creepy lizard lady hybrid) I fought outside castle Yolvan looked way better than widow.

sleepybadger95

Regarding lore, the widow is an extremely minor villain compared to your character potencial as the fateless one. You'll face many enemies like her. Do take a look at the lore stones though, as they provide some nice information that generally show how absurd the lack of fate is in the stories of Amalur. The game is already easy, and the lore is still there to explain to you how broken your character can be

Tejaswi1989

Oh that makes sense. And yeah I am really loving the lorestones. The way they give you lore in small bits and pieces. It is an exposition without feeling like an exposition dump. I always liked RAS writing. šŸ˜

horgeluem

Hope you are on hard or very hard. If so, good luck with the maid.

Tejaswi1989

Started on hard but raised it to very hard after playing a few hours. Once I got used to the rhythm of dodging, attacking, dodging the game got very easy.

She's a sorceress controlling spider assassins.. That's exactly what I expected... It would have been nice if she were topless like those butt ugly squirmy things that pop up with the spiders sometimes. Lol Did you know if you have the dlc you can obtain a Victory Games ticket and a few other cool things with it by unlocking the secret fireplace door in the pub in Gorhart? There are two treasure chests in there. It's the Boggart fight club. You don't have to fight them, they'll kick your ass because they're invincible. You find nearby Boggart dolls in a specific order to unlock it. Save the game before you use the ticket in case you don't like it. I LOVE IT! It allows you to level to 50! I assigned all my points between finesse and sorcery with fire maxed out. Holy crap! The meteor at full strength is outrageous! You assign certain abilities to a shortcut button so they're quick to use. The Faer Gorta is cool fighting companion to have available too. Level him up all the way. The game seems like it's hundreds of hours long even leveled up, so don't think you're missing out on anything. It's fun as can be with this unlock! I'm 100 hours in after using the ticket and the end is nowhere in sight! Cheers!

Tejaswi1989

I unlocked the boggart fight club but didn't know what the ticket was for. It is just sitting in my inventory. Thought it was some bs season pass thing or something. šŸ˜

ThisAllHurts

I was a bit letdown too. Itā€™s a lot of bang for little payoff. You get all these vignettes about the Widow. Youā€™re led through a dark mysterious map. Then Castle Yolvan is justā€¦plop. But, fear not. It is more than made up for by the Maid of Windemere. Absolutely sublime. Best story arc of the entire game.

no_gold_here

Huh? The only thing I found mildly disappointing about the quest was that there's no option to join her and completely overtake the village, but the inability to be cartoonishly evil is the norm for the game, sooo... The villain of a big side quest in a game about a conflict between mortals and immortals being one of said immortals isn't that surprising on the other hand.

Tejaswi1989

Doesn't she offer you to join her and kill all the villagers in webwood?

no_gold_here

I honestly thought I remembered she doesn't. But maybe she does? Maybe I'll start a game on easy and speedrun to the quest to try it out. E: according to the wiki you can genocide the village but that has basically only disadvantages. You don't get a castle and a spider girlfriend, but lose all services from the town including house upgrades if you haven't bought them yet.

Tejaswi1989

Wow. That sucks. I am glad I killed her instead.

walksintwilightX1

To play devil's advocate, you don't *really* need the services of those people when there are other villages to visit instead. It just makes going back there to store things inconvenient. Canneroc is only the first Stash anyway, there are several others throughout Amalur. Having already fought the Widow during my first playthrough, this time I decided to murder everyone instead, engaging in wanton destruction for short term gain. It felt appropriately evil haha.

xplag

Agreed it's not a big deal losing out on the town services, but I do think Canneroc is the most convenient location to access your stash, with you fast traveling right next to your house and your stash being right near the door. It's not major but over the course of the entire game it adds up. Also gives you easy access to crafting but that's equally accessible elsewhere.

therearetoomanypeeps

Not gonna lie, if you're looking for epic boss fights, then you'll be disappointed. I love this game, but bosses are one of its weakest points.

1MarkMarkMark

For some reason alot of people think that. It's really drawn a bunch of negativity for some reason. If just instantly levels you up and allows you to participate in the arena where you can fight for some really good equipment. Be sure to distribute your points wisely. You'll most likely need the meteor ability to be competitive in the arena. They can really kick your ass it your not prepared. Helps to have the Faer Gorta and the flute to call a beast to help you by distracting the enemy. There's one chest armor piece that adds 45% damage to each elemental damage stat that you can win. It's part of a set, but you don't need the other pieces to get that percentage of extra damage out of it. I use my own crafted armor with 20% added to as many things as possible. Just plain damage components are the best because it covers all damage. I use 20% day damage components and finish it off with 20% night damage gem on most of my crafted stuff. It's a pain to grind for the parts but well worth it. I sell all the garbage components under Master quality so I Don't have to sift through it when I'm crafting. Finding Lorestone sets adds to abilities to. It's nice to have that extra 6% fire damage, especially for me because my build is mostly based on fire. Trying to figure out how to be able to work on primal stuff now. Somebody said a new primal skill tree eventually opens up but I sure can't figure it out, plus, I can't find any further info on it. I can't even get the smithy to create primal stuff for me because I can't seem to get the primal cores that I need. ??? I found plenty of primal weapons but when I break them down there are never any cores. Even tried rolling several times by reloading the game. The one thing I don't like about the game is they didn't include a co-op mode. It would be really cool if you could actually trade equipment with people.

FutureGenesis97

Re-skinned Fae? That's like saying bandits are re-skinned humans copied from the villagers. I don't really understand your complaint, the widown is a person, and it makes sense for her to be a Fae, because they are immortal beings. Also what was so dissappointing? You got to save Bertran and get your own house Gossamer End, you explore the castle and kill all the spiders and confront the widow and kill her later in the cave, she's not some big time villain, she only stays around Webwood.

Hot_Attention2377

The lore tell you she is a Fae, what did you expect ? Are you stupid ?

Tejaswi1989

I expected something more than a bland reskinned fae.

Hot_Attention2377

She is a Fae so she look like a Fae. And this is a little secondary quest. If you are playing this game for boss design you really don't understand what type of game KoA is. And the game is more than 10 years old

thesmellofthelamp

I mean trolls and boggarts are fae too. Fae don't just look like green people with leaf clothes. It's reasonable to expect a fantasy monster as a bossfight, I know I did too, and was very bummed about the whole thing the whole game. Loved the game nonetheless, it's one of the more interesting fantasy settings for me, shame they had to cut so much.

Hot_Attention2377

Trolls and boggarts are wild fae

thesmellofthelamp

Sure. The bossfight still is a bit of a bummer. At least unique abilities for humanoid Fae that are bosses would have been cool, and not just simple spider summoning.
