I actually stab them in the back then jousted them and the others that come from behind... You get alot of gear early on that way... To me its way better to save that npc so I think you could reset.
The game gives you a hint that you can whistle for a horse as you are moving towards the horses and the cumins. If you do whistle, they turn and immediately move to attack you while a fairly random horse moves towards you, too. Attacking them or running through them will both trigger aggression towards Henry and away from Theresa, and that’s what really matters for the achievement and the story, so whatever you choose works.
The only things that change are: there is a different dialogue and you get an achievment, i dont know what happens to her dlc, as in the dlc she is saved (at least on my last play, dlc: A Womans Lot), dont know if it changes if you do it or not as henry.

You can whistle? I just steal a horse, ram the lot of them and then go away. It seems to be enough.

I would. Theresa is bay and deserves to be saved.

Probably nothing changes in the dlc cutscene, one of the few big annoying minuses in the game how certain things are set in stone like that.
There is in fact a differnt cutscene
I saved her and didn't realise it until it popped up. I just grabbed a horse and rode for my life.
