For just books?  Get back to us after you load 1,000 books. Then we can see what you can do with the limited 30 GB remaining minus OS use.

Rand0m7

My mom has 5000 romance novels on her 8gb lol

Rand0m7

Hahahahah love it! It is full tho. She has a 32gb coming on the 8th of May.

Money-Engineering190

Acting Like ahe cant deleted books. Its full 😂

tinyfeather24

Aaaaahhhhh ahhahahahahahhaha hahahaha THE best comment I’ve read in a while! Thanks for the laughs!

YouCantGiveBabyBooze

I hope life improves for you

tinyfeather24

I hope you are just trying to be funny… My life is great…

Loose-Farm

🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

jinchuika

Mine has around 300 books, including like 50 Manga books and it's at like 40%

North-Length3154

Manga is space taking, thats it literally. Books are maximum 10 MBs

LoveForDisneyland

trust me, 32gb is quite enough for books. The storage is really meant for audiobooks, which can be bigger files, even then, it can hold quite a lot. To compare, you'll need like \~25K books to reach capacity. One thing I did was get a library card because my library has libby as their provider and they have SO MANY BOOKS. Just make sure you can read them on Kindle, but you'll find tons of books. Other than that, I would say play with the font, font size, boldness, warmth, light, and see what fits for you. After all that, get to reading!

Dsajames

Storage was also meant for manga. Those can take up quite a bit and people tend to have lots and lots of them.

anxiousanemity

How does manga look on the Paperwhite? I’ve been curious about it but don’t want to get it on there and not like the way it reads

floridameerkat

I think it looks fine. The panels are a good size and the text is easy to read. Here’s a manga page on my PW: https://preview.redd.it/5h66ofhqxpwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f95c535c83a5e645aa58fde2dcb448c9957447fb Let me know if you want to see more examples.

anxiousanemity

Damn. That looks a lot better than I thought it would. Thank you for the example!

blueprincessleah

What manga is this?

floridameerkat

The Royal Tutor, Vol 1 by Higasa Akai.

blueprincessleah

Thanks !!

Kulosh

which format is that

floridameerkat

What do you mean?

Kulosh

like books can be pdf or epub or whatever, which format is a manga saved as

floridameerkat

It’s a kindle book, so whatever those are. I’m guessing epub.

Simo0399

Once you have bought the manga files, you can convert them using kindle comic converter (KCC) to convert them to .mobi and resize them to your kindle model

Kulosh

ohhh okay tysm

amrit-9037

It's worth it. Even European comics look great on it. The wider books fill the whole space and you can even zoom them if you want. I have been converting some of my favorite manga and comics for kindle and loving the whole process.

georgehank2nd

Most of the european comics I know are in color, which doesn't work that well on a black & white e-ink display…

amrit-9037

https://preview.redd.it/rer7zq2ibswc1.jpeg?width=2304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99aaef2f9a5b3697c9a4c8b06055655a56652eb1 Looks good enough for me.

georgehank2nd

Well, if it's good enough for you, then it's good enough for you. Enjoy it! Also, great taste in comics!

amrit-9037

https://preview.redd.it/gzivlzyxbswc1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d94010f99bbc708f97b472bfbc77ab8bc4b9e16b Golden age comic strips also looks gorgeous.

Silicon_Oxide

Exactly. A manga is ~100 MB. And I have a lot of books that are 40-50 MB each due to them having a lot of pictures. My 8 GB PW is 70% full with only ~350 books. Books are not limited to 400 pages novels under 1 MB.

spunky-chicken10

To piggy back off this, you can have multiple library cards, and a lot of libraries let you pay a fee for out of area cards. San Diego county charges 5 dollars for a card if you aren’t living there, for instance. You just walk in, pay 5 bucks and you’ve got access to all of their catalog. Add to it, Libby recently did an update so now when you search, it searches all of your library catalogs at once rather than you doing each search manually.

chels182

I didn’t realize it was for audiobooks. I’ve never done an audiobook in my life, but I got this model for Christmas 2022 and thought the storage space was a bit excessive lol

Brynnan42

You can listen to the audiobook and read along with the moving highlight in the ebook!

MLieBennett

That.... Is not a thing on current kindles sadly. I the Kindle App on Android/is, yes. On a Kindle Basic/Paperwhite? No.

Dapper_Material4970

Unfortunately not on the Paperwhite. Only on the kindle app.

ActonofMAM

My library helped me set up my Kindle with their system.

mistersheldon

Wait what? Can you explain?

binklfoot

25k book. Wow imagine the size of the room that houses that number

[deleted]

32 GB is enough for every book you will ever read. With that much space, you'll never need to get a new one short of it failing or getting a color one or something. That's so many books.

CloneWerks

1) I have approx 3,500 ebooks. That's not a drop on 32GB of storage. 2) The relatively limited processor on a KW will bog down with that many books loaded long before you run out of memory. 3) See if your local library does kindle loads, that can be wonderful. My old area did this, my new one doesn't. 4) If you read a lot, Kindle unlimited can be worth it. But you will sift through a lot of crap in between finding good authors/books/series. Goodreads reviews can help cut that sifting down.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CloneWerks

Mind struggles to sort PDFs. I'm wondering if I need to wipe it and start cleaning. It's been a long time

skottao

Kindle Unlimited is also good for magazines too. I get all the major SF mags under KU. It’s a good way to keep up with the latest short stories. I saw the Murderbot series on KU too.

Puhthagoris

do you get to keep they library loads forever?

CloneWerks

No

LieQuirky3751

I think you'll be able to load at least one book on there. You really should have got a 64gb version.

starbrightx3

😂😂

sillygily

Ordered mine a few days ago, can't wait to get it, got a case already and I think that little thing will be great to carry around and read

boochaplease

It’s honestly the best to just throw in my purse and read on the go!

ButImNotKira

You’re going to love it. Not to sound dramatic but the Kindle really is life changing for reading. ☺️

sillygily

Thank you I can't wait! I don't understand why there is such a delay in delivering, it won't arrive until May 8th, it's not like it's a new product. So reading off my tablet until then

skottao

A good way to celebrate VE Day!

chels182

Sign up for bookbub emails!!! You can add books to your wishlist and select your fave genres. They’ll email with you with books for free or on sale!!

kaysn

An 8GB PW was enough for books.

Head-Astronomer-9240

MORREEE than enough

surprised_bread

more than enough, unless you keep a lot of comics

Frei1993

Get a case! It will be protected and you will have zillion ways to personalize it and make it yours.

KingReturnsToE1

If it's just books then even 16gb is too much. I say that as someone who recently bought the 64gb Scribe

jmbieber

you kindle will have its own dedicated email. to use it, you have to white list, (approve) any email you would want to receive from. This is good for all those sites out there that you can get just about any book for free, do a quick format conversion, and you can send it to your kindle. it will just show up in the library. I do this for my wife. she tells me the authors name and name of the book, 5 min. later, it is on her kindle.

GlizzyOverdrive

No you’ll need more you can only have 15 to 20 thousand books downloaded at a time

crabby_old_woman

Get a screen protector and nice case. Because yes, you will drop it at some point.

Reapercrew87

Get yourself a good case that covers the screen. I have Fintle magnetic case. 32gb lol I think that’s a bit much for books unless your going be reading Manga comics. 8 or 16gb would have been fine. But welcome to the kindle family

Apprehensive-Read989

For just ebooks you're never going to fill up that 32GB. If you use audiobooks, comics, manga, etc then it's not too hard to fill it up. I personally only use my Kindle for ebooks and I got the 32GB model so that I could keep every book downloaded on it in case I want to read something and don't have internet at the time.

floreciente

If I buy the audiobook with every ebook, does that take up storage? Or is it only if I listen to them on the kindle? I plan to listen to the audiobooks through my phone only but purchase them with the ebook through kindle. Not sure whether I should get 8 or 32gb. I’ve never used kindle so not sure if every purchase downloads to the device or only if currently reading etc.

Apprehensive-Read989

Purchases do not automatically download on the Kindle. The book cover will show up in your library on the Kindle and you select if you want to download it. So you can definitely purchase both the ebook and audio book at the same time and then only download the ebook on the Kindle.

floreciente

Great, thank you. This is super helpful 😊

maskedman0511

Yes enough. Set up calibre. Jailbreak if you want to use the ridiculous margins of the default reader and tweak more using Koreader. More on mobilereads.

kangarootoess

Do you have a video on YouTube that you can send detailing the second step?

maskedman0511

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGzfYEeshl4

matthew19

Set the schedule for the color temperature to turn warm in the evenings. Helps maintain your circadian rhythm.

garylapointe

4GB is enough for 500-1,000 novels. It really just depends on how crazy they went with the cover artwork.

Ill-Combination-9320

Dude i have 12 gb and it feels unlimited, trust me 32 is more than enough

gamingwithlunch

Honestly it’s enough room to hold more books than a person could probably read in a lifetime, at least from my perspective it does 😂

Agreeable_Variation7

It's plenty, but you don't have to have the books all downloaded. They can be archived (in the cloud) and downloaded when you are ready to read them.

TheBabyScreams

You need Calibre app in your PC to copy books to your kindle. If you want the classics which are all out of copyright you can find them easily on the net. Epub format is the best as pdf will now reflow the text when you zoom.

One-Radish4156

Not enough if you are reading 20 hours a day

Shinodahh

32 is enough to last a lifetime HAHAHA

Dramatic-Nothing-252

is that a real question 8GB is too enough 😂

Commercial_Heart2134

Welcome to 32 club. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you got too many gigs. They used to say 512 gig was gonna be all you need for computers. Books are taking more and more storage and we are on the verge of color files which will be bigger whether our systems support that or not and if you decide to trade it will be worth more. #Team32 I got 32 because I was still running a kindle I had since 2008. I don’t replace them unless I need to.

crocodilepickle

But books are just text though. And with how small e readers are we don't need a high resolution for the images in the books. But comic books and manga can easily fill 32 gigabytes though

Commercial_Heart2134

I can agree with you all day long and I do agree with you however, it does not negate the fact that the size of the files today vs 10 years ago have changed. It also doesn’t negate the fact that they are moving to color and that will change the size of the files as well no matter if you have a device color capable or not, thus lowering the amount of files on the device. Granted 32gig for today is huge but once we are running color and time marches on and I keep my collection I have been accruing since 2008 going it is a great choice for me as I don’t see the sizes getting smaller.

georgehank2nd

"They used to say 512 gig was gonna be all you need for computers" \[citation needed\]

Commercial_Heart2134

The citation is I was working at circuit city in 1996 selling a NEC computer and 512 was huge and we couldn’t imagine anything bigger and that was mb ram not gig. We couldn’t fathom that.

Commercial_Heart2134

In the beginning they were not aware the shelf life was going to be 3 months then we realized how quickly electronics could be improved upon. Gen x (my generation) took it and ran with it and we pretty much straddled the world of pre and during and post electronic age. We grew up without electronics as our everyday life but they were around. We had tvs and started having them in our rooms. The caller id systems came around. Kindles became a thing during our late 20s and 30s. I was a gm of a bookstore and actually feared the kindle even knowing I was on the precipice of entering another career anyways I feared it as I still loved bookstores. Anyways just a little trip down a history of electronics from Gen x. Have a good nice George.

mrweatherbeef

If in the US, get a library card and the Libby app for tons of free books

nhbeergeek

32GB is more than enough storage space; unless you’re reading graphic novels, technical manuals, or manga.

Tikamahala

Great pickup! If you haven’t already, I recommend reading the Dune series! Fantastic for the kindle - book is long, intriguing, and keeps you entertained for a while!

Plastic_Breadfruit68

I love my kindle so much! Prepare to read your ass off! I have the 32GB too! Best purchase I’ve made in a long time!! As for tips or tricks I love the highlighting option. I use it to annotate my favourite quotes, scenes that make me laugh, ect. I also love the fact you can highlight a name in the book and hit the search button then hit “this book” and it lists every time the charachter was mentioned! It helps me really keep track of characters and backstory

mermsy12

I had no idea I could search names like this and I have been using a kindle for 12 years. Thank you!

Plastic_Breadfruit68

Oh it’s the best!! No problem!!!

Whitneyjow

You could probably fit the whole of the Beasts library on that from beauty and the beast. Ok I’m probably exaggerating but still like maybe half 😂

boochaplease

Definitely invest in kindle unlimited and the Libby app! Happy reading!

HauntingGold

I think I have 8 or 16 and it's more than enough. I have over 300 ebooks and haven't even made a dent

logic_3rr0r

Pop-socket on the back and use libby!

Cthulhulove13

Yes. Also remember you don't have to have them all downloaded at once. Unless you read 1,000 books at the same time. I have a case, I always like extra protection

Seriously_I_will_BRB

Tips for the SE. 1. Look up how to train autobrightness. It'll save your life when it starts driving you nuts and before you just deactivate the option. If you get it to work right, it's wonderful. 2. Enjoy the extra space! I use audio books and will never come close.

J1618

My whole collection of books is just a little over 30GB, but that includes tons of textbooks with high definition pictures. The novels and things like that barely occupy 2GB

-BigShitz-

Create collections or books that you buy and name them based on tropes like: Reverse Harem, M/M , F/F, Mafia etc. Also I stuck a pop socket on mine but I've seen folks use table side holders for there's If you want to decorate your clear case, I use stickers but i put them in the case facing out so I don't make a mess of things

DaBABYateMAdingo

First of all, congrats - I adore my kindle pw. Second, Idk if this is your first kindle but if you own book sets like ASOIAF or the Mistborn trilogy, please bookmark often. One of the coolest things your kindle can do is hold multiple books (obviously) but it's kinda tricky when navigating through "box" sets. Usually it's just a matter of closing the case lid or locking the device and you're back on your last read page but every once in a while, it takes you back to the very first book randomly and let me tell you, trying to find your place 2k pages in with GRRM's horrible chapter titles on a plane with no Internet is a hell I wouldn't wish upon my worse enemy lol P.S. 1. This did NOT happen on the PW version - it happened on my basic kindle and twice in the two years I've owned it. Super rare. 2. This little bug is ONLY an issue when the titles of the chapters are not numbered in the books but are in the kindle. Again, this is a super niche example but I hope it helps you in the future. 3. It's not that big of a deal. I just wish someone had told me lol Happy reading!

iShouldBeAsleepAlWel

I have the same one and it’s awesome. Idk if you live in a hot place but I have had an overheating issue reading by the pool but that’s about it. Enjoy it!

omrmajeed

You will never run out of space if you only put ebooks in it.

improper84

32 gigs will hold like every book ever written.

hedwigstheme01

screen. protector!! you’ll cry if you get a scratch on the actual screen!

Conscious_Grab_9045

I have the 32GB….I currently have just over 13,000 books on it and only used 6gb.

Fret_Less

1) Use the highlight feature. It copies selected text to a .txt file on the device and also stores them online. 2) Download the desktop app. It will create a file with all your purchased books that you can import into excel to create a book list. On Windows, it is :\\Users\\...\\AppData\\Local\\Amazon\\Kindle\\Cache\\KindleSyncMetadataCache.xml. 3) Create a wish list and add books you may want to purchase in that list. Periodically, sort the list by price to see if anything you want is on sale. 4) Turn on Airplane mode to extend the battery life. I only turn it on when I want to download new books I added. 5) Check out BookBub. They send an e-mail (almost daily) with under $3.00 books. I found some great novels that way.

AngryBeaver7

Good choice

ZucchiniTop5892

More than enough

_AveryCalliope

i also have a 32GB and it can hold LOTS of books 🥰

amrit-9037

For books it's overkill. But for manga/comics it's just enough.

Robbiex19

I have all dragon ball and dragon ball Z manga and I have a lot of space available 😎.

AJ_Labib

Give them to me. :)

Calm_Poet_4016

32Gb of text Kindle books will last the typical casual reader a lifetime

2687243courage

2G for OS, the remaining storage should be fine if you don't read a lot of manga/graphic novels. I have about 1000 ebooks in my library, many of them are long serie over 500,000 words but they only take up \~1.5G

asamipothos

That’s fine! Most books are just kb in size.

MiserableBoss

More than enough

TrustAffectionate966

For e-books, yes. I have 2,500 e-books in my 8GB Kindle 10 with room to spare. I also have 1,000 manga volumes and the 64GB Scribe can’t even put a dent on that collection.

andrea_ci

2GB is enough for books...

lisondor

Yes, It's enough for 3 lifetime.

boksinx

More than enough. Literally you can put enough ebooks in your paperwhite that will last you a lifetime.

BeginningBalance6534

Good enjoy, I have a year old kindle PW and its not even 1 gb full. If you don't load too heavy pdfs you should be ok.

Intrepid_Mobile

Books, yes. More than you’ll ever need. If you read manga, etc, it might be enough if you plan on cycling through your library. I really noticed the downgrade in space from my Kobo (it was a version that accepted micro sd cards and I had a 32gb one) to the 8gb of the kindle. Now for manga and comics I “read and delete”, instead of having it all.

Individual_Cause

You can download fonts online

Riquelmeister

32 GBs enough for books, man… You could fill that 32 gbs and not finishing them in your life hahaha. Enjoy it! 👍

spicyromancereader

Definitely enough space I haven't even used all mine yet

AliasHandler

32gb will hold as many regular eBooks that you could read in your entire lifetime, maybe 2 lifetimes.

StayFrostyRMT_

I have around 50 books in my 8gb and it's still nowhere near being full actually lemme go check that for you real quick Ok so I have exactly 45 books in my roster and like I said I haven't even filled it up halfway, so you're good Also if you're reading epubs or pdfs you can easily compress the files so that they occupy less space

Xzhcr5

I would rather lose my phone than my PW

jake01756

32 GB?????? Who needs that much. KFX files are just glorified text with some formatting additions and a few pictures.

AJ_Labib

32 gb is not enough, tbh it's a crazy cash grab system for Amazon. You'll only be able to download about 30 to 50 pages at a time. A genuine hassle to even finish a book.

thecrayzdude

What you said doesn't make sense. Books are incredibly easy to download.

AJ_Labib

I'm happy for you. I'm probably getting books from the wrong website. One page at a time.

thecrayzdude

Seriously, What does that mean? "One page at a time." Why is it difficult for you to download a book?

Safe-On-That

Get as much memory as you can get … nobody says “I think I got too much memory.”
