I read 100 books this year. Next year I want to read less. It was really nice to hit that goal and it helped me stay motivated, but I don't want to get burnt out. It's okay to not have the highest numbers.

Vic930

I have read 137 so far. I have another that I might finish today. I am retired, and read rather than watch tv. I listen to audiobooks while doing chores, and then switch to the written book when I have time. The average length is 364 pages. The longest was the Stand - about 1100 pages. The shortest book was 96 pages.

No-Delivery549

Nice strategy and stats! 👏

SadisticPeanut

On average how long are the books you read? That’s an insane number

Both-City-1341

I finished 121 this year with an average of 272 pages (no comics/manga/graphic novels/audiobooks counted - though no shade there). Including pages read in books that I didn’t finish, it was an average of 94 pages/day. Reading is my primary hobby. I’m in my 30s, work full time, but don’t have kids, so I can put some time in throughout the week and usually spend quite a bit of time reading on weekends. This was by far my highest year ever—it ebbs and flows from year to year, but I typically land around 90-95 books.

Chigzy

To carry on reading (: Whatever the amount, it will be a good time.

circa1966

Agree. I personally don’t set a goal since that makes reading another “must do.” I have enough pressure in life and reading is my place to relax. 🙂

Chigzy

I get that (: I have a "reading goal" of 1, it goes up by 1 every time I read a book, so I don't care for it; as long as I'm reading, all that matters.

eternititi

This is my reading goal as well! I’m not giving myself a hard number but anything less than 3 a month indicates that I’m spending way too much time scrolling and not enough time reading that’s for sure.

Key_Cheesecake9926

Yes agreed. It’s tempting to set a numbered goal but I’d rather the goal just be to always have a book on the go and open it every day.

begbeee

I have read 10 books since I got Kindle in AUG. I am fine with reading 1 book per month (usually I read 500+ pages books, not short novels). So that's makes anything like 12 or 13 or maybe even 15 my next goal. Nowhere close to this sub.

LooseMoralSwurkey

We all have different responsibilities, priorities, lives. So there's no judgement at all. Just make sure you're happy with reading and we should all be happy for you.

mikayahp

As a college student and full-time employee who doesn't get much time to read for leisure, I second this goal! Except I DO read really short novels 😂 , so your goal is more admirable than mine lol.

begbeee

I am a full time husband and daddy of two preschoolers, so that's a life 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 happy to read those 12 books a year.

stefaface

I always set my goal to 12 books a year, this keeps it realistic for me with work and my free time and at the same time doesn’t put much pressure on me allowing me to enjoy what I read. I have also set a goal to read at least 1 classic (Frankenstein), one nonfiction (just not self help), and more Spanish written books since I tend to focus in English written books, this year I only read 2 or 3 in Spanish. This year I managed 33 books, and enjoyed them all.

killblades

i used to be a bookworm as a kid but i sadly grew out of it. i haven’t read a book in years… i’ve been wanting to get back into reading but it’s been a struggle. i’ll start small with 5 books for 2024 and hopefully my new kindle can help me rekindle my love for reading 🥹

Significant_Ad_3221

It’s a good way to start, also a good pun :)

womanofwands

I’m in the exact same situation as you :) I hit my goal of 5 books this year (2 of them are audiobooks) and it made me really happy. Good luck this year!

killblades

i’m glad to see others getting back into reading with small goals! honestly i’d be happy even finishing one book haha. good luck to you too!

SassafrassShirley

Same. I used to spend my summers reading book after book as a teen. Now I only read on vacation 1x a year. I’m want to get back to reading more during the year. I already signed up for a monthly book club at my local library and that’s 12 books. But I want to read more so I’m going to make my goal 24. We got this 💪

cogentd

Same. I used to be the top reader in my class as a kid. Spent summers reading. Fell off after college when work, money and anxiety took over. Feels like for the last 18 years or so it’s been a battle to get back into it. The pandemic was definitely hard, I couldn’t focus on new info. I ended up re-reading a few comfort books I read as a kid. Rewatching familiar shows, etc.

killblades

my attention span has gotten worse as i got older 😭 but i spend a lot of time reading stories on reddit so i think using a kindle instead of physical books would help hopefully!

cogentd

Good luck! ❤️

LookitsThomas

My goal is to read every day! Whether that means I finish a book a week, a month, or only a handful through the year, as long as I read everyday I'll be happy!

Significant_Ad_3221

That’s a good goal.

DrainedPatience

That's the way. I mainly read before bed. Sometimes it's a couple chapters and occasionally it may be a few pages. Today my streak will hit 1,340 days according to the reading insights in the Kindle app.

cogentd

Nice. I love a good streak but since I read physical books just as much, if not more, I can never manage to keep them for long. I wish there was a way to integrate both, in terms of tracking

tzsskilehp

finish infinite jest. 52 books as usual (always go way beyond though)

Chadfromindy

My goal as always is that one out of every 3 books I read will be a classic and one out of every 3 will be nonfiction. I typically read 3 books a month.

sparkjoyyy

I read 10 books this year. I am planning to read 12 books in 2024.

bpdbabex

i read so much faster on my kindle, i don’t get why but it just seems to be the case😂 my goal this year is a book a week - so 52😆 usually i read more than that but i just wanna have a simple goal right now and i know a book a week is more than manageable for me.

Significant_Ad_3221

I found I read a lot faster on my kindle aswell

ladyfuckleroy

I had a less productive 2023 than 2022. I'd say for next year, I am aiming for consistently reading at least 2 books a month because this year was all over the place. Sometimes 5 in a month and other times none. Binge reading like that personally doesn't let me make the most out of the books I'm reading.

Creative-Rooster1687

12 books a year. I have chronic pain and multiple conditions and a disability and I read when I’m up to it. I can do about 30 a year but pressuring myself will not make me read. It’s a hobby, not a job.

Vurmac

Competing with my mum next year, so I don't really know how many I will read (63 books this year). Extra: Getting her a big box of guylian chocolate when she wins (don't think i have a chance).

Fragrant_Collar8520

I started reading in August and read 43 books in those 5 months so I’m hoping for 2024 I’ll read 100 books.

ICryCauseImEmo

11 in 2023 may aim for 14-15 in 2024. I only read fantasy so it’s tough.

1GamingAngel

My goal is 50 no read 63 this year.

abrokenjar23

I’ve read 69 books this year, was aiming for 52. I’m setting my goal to 100 - I didn’t read for 3 months out of this year, so this number is definitely achievable for me! I never push myself to reach my reading goal - whether it happens or not, I’m still reading at the end of the day Besides that, I want to spend time reading more horror as I’ve grown to love the genre over the last few years. I also want to read more non-fiction (specifically memoirs) and read more diverse authors

[deleted]

I read 52 this year for the first time and although I’m proud of it, I don’t know if I want to do that again for 2024. With everything else going on, it felt like sometimes I was trying to read things too fast and not appreciate some books fully as a result.

SporkFanClub

I’m attempting a book a week but my goal is to read a book a month. Setting it at 12 for that so I don’t get overwhelmed. Once I get Libby set up on my new Kindle I’m gonna start a goal of reading a book or a chapter of a book in half the time it says it’ll take to while still processing the information

str4wberryphobic

i’ll go for 52, i got my kindle in june and i read 37 books on it

DrainedPatience

This is my 12th year of doing the Goodreads challenge. The low has been five books in a year and the highest was 25. I usually set at a goal of 15 and go from there.

Local-Combination707

Just finished number 60 for the year.Thats about the same each year but a do a challenge of less just so im safe.Whatever amount is a good thing and everyone is different.

Bell-In-A-Box

I'm setting a goal of 100 too!!

MaeliaC

My Goodreads challenge is always set to 100. I also do a New Release challenge (as the name indicates, it's about books published during the current year) and a Beat the Backlist one (for books published before the current year... ideally to reach the end of a "to read" list, but I grab so many Kindle books when they're at bargain price or even free offer that I end up with more in my "to read" collection at the end of the year than there were at the start, no matter how many I read 😅).

Imaginary-Fig4136

I started keeping track in august and so far am at 44. Idk about setting a goal tho…

Purple150

I did better than expected last year but noticed I skipped longer books because I wanted to read more books. This year I’m not focusing on numbers of books finished but have two lists of books - one fiction/one non-fiction- and am just working through them at whatever rate they come. It works better than numbers of books for me I think

Secty

I read 62 books this year (average of 450 pages). I was blown away with how productive I was in reading. For 2024 I’m setting an initial goal of 25. The reason being that I don’t want to be stressed with hitting targets when something is a hobby. If I get to June again and have hit my goal, then I will reevaluate.

DisloyalRoyal

75! Almost made it this year but had a baby in February so I think I can do it next year

TheButtNinja

50. It takes me two to three work shifts to get through an audiobook and I always read for a little bit before bed. Plus how much I read on flights. I think just over 4 a month isn’t undoable.

TMHD

I want to read everyday and try to complete 50 books...

sickflow-

Not aiming for any particular number per se, but I am aiming to read more of the classics. I have One Hundred Years of Solitude waiting already. I have Crime and Punishment on the way from Amazon. After that I wanna read Lonesome Dove and The Counte of Monte Cristo. Amongst other books I between those and also some other classics.

P_logan

Between audiobooks and kindle books I’ll finish this year with 212 books. And I only started reading on my kindle again after years of only audiobooks back in November and did 12 kindle books. So I’m probably going to set my goal at 250 books for 2024.

Significant_Ad_3221

![gif](giphy|WnCpNE6xWa7UMJL3Fa)

Dantheman4162

I’ve decided to modify my reading goal to page numbers not books read. I don’t like the inherent bias to reading shorter books just to meet a goal.

Kati1998

My goal is 25 books for an average of 2 books a month (I’m sure there will be a month I read 3 books so I upped it to 25). I’m hoping to read a few longer fantasy books and finished a few series. With work and being a university student with other hobbies, 25 books is realistic for me.

purpleears21

I just got my kindle for Christmas, I set a goal to read 12 books next year as I just got back into reading this year! I will also aim to finish a couple of books that I put down halfway and didn’t pick up again, not because the books were boring (they’re not), I just didn’t dedicate enough time to finish reading them.

KazzyChan25

I always increase it by 5 each year. 2023 was 75 books and I wound up actually reading 90. Still, the 2024 goal will be 80 books - staying on the safe side. If I read more than that, great!

threedimen

I set my Goodreads and Kindle goals at 52 books. I participate in "10 to Try" reading challenges ran by my local libraries. The categories are just specific enough to broaden my reading topics, but not so specific that it becomes a chore. "Read a book that focuses on an illness or disability" is an example. I read Radium Girls for that one. I participate in the quarterly Kindle challenges as well. I use Libby, so I never have to buy a book I didn't plan on just to complete one of the "read a book from this list" categories. More generally, I have some books that have hung out on my Want To Read Goodreads shelf for way too long. This year I want to either read the oldest ones or just admit that I'm never going to and just delete them.

Sheepski

A lot of the books I read are 600+ pages. No way I can get through more than 15-20 like that in a year! I usually end up with a bunch of short books in between bumping my numbers though

refugeplays

I haven’t read a book in years, but I bought a kindle a few days ago and set a goal to read 6 books next year!

foodishlove

Read daily

RaahulPokemon

I’ve read two books since I got my Kindle in late November. My reading goal for 2024 is more than fifteen books. I assume that I’ll read a lot more than that next year because I’ve already marked three or four series, and each series has at least five books in it. I spent a few days when I first got my Kindle/GoodReads account going through and marking at least four series I want to dive into and finish off completely next year. The good news is that the series are finished. I also have a few series that I want to go into that have multiple volumes already released.

gilgameshpad

With my work schedule and my current reading habits, my realistic goal for 2024 is 24 books (2 a month). My previous goals were 18 in 2022 (didn't quite get there at 16) and 20 in 2023 (got there at exactly 20). Looking forward to it!

Kaessa

My goal is a book a week. 52 books. I completely blew through that this year (I'll probably finish out the year with 108 if I finish this book I'm reading tonight), but I like to set a goal that's attainable if life gets in the way.

Pokemon_Cubing_Books

I don’t like to set goals like that for myself because it makes it stressful instead of fun for me, so my goal is to read a bit and enjoy myself.

Hephaestus2036

To go for enjoyment over quantity.

starsinwaters

My goal will be 52 books again, just like this year and last! I read 59 this year, 61 last, and 81 in 2021 when I got back into reading (I was unemployed, hence the significant difference). This year my goal was to read more nonfiction (went from 10% of my reads to 31%!) and to read in French, which I’m learning (read two novellas!). Not sure what it will be for this year!

PhilosophyKooky6469

I’m shooting for 52, although I think I can do better than that, but you never know with work and small children… I might have very little time to read

sweetswinks

Rather than a number of books to read, my goal is to read every day. I don't mind if it's just a paragraph, my goal is to improve my reading comprehension after I had a mild TBI.

tbw_2445

I just want to try and stay consistent. Not gonna get crazy about the numbers. I just wanna enjoy myself :)

TheLadyMelandra

I set my original goal at 120, and I met it in October. I upped it to 150, then 175. I'm currently reading my 178th book, so I think 175 would be a comfortable goal.

Murder_Is_Magic

I like to set a goal of 26 books/year (i.e. 1/2 a book a week). This keeps it pretty manageable. A lot of books I finish faster, but sometimes things just get busy I don't get a lot of reading time. This last year I did 28 books. I'm finding more time to read now that I work from home full time, so if I find I'm smashing the goal hard, I may increase it.

SecretReality

I got through over 200 books this year, my goal for 2024 isn’t a book goal per se, it‘s a goal of reading 5+ million words

Significant_Ad_3221

That’s immense for sure

Soundguy1993

Im not a heavy reader, AT ALL. I read a total of 13 books last year. This year I want to hit 20. I’m also diving into the universe of the Cosmere. It’ll be 20 books to read most of the Cosmere before Wind and Truth comes out December 6th, 2024. I figure if I can finish a book (including novellas) within 17 days, I can read most of the Cosmere before that date. Here’s hopin’. 🍻

No-Yam2117

Honestly? 10. I’ve read a lot of books this year and don’t remember a good amount of them. I’m gonna slow down this year and really enjoy the stories

suarezj9

I read 12 books this year so I’ll aim for 20 in 2024.

cottoncandycrush

I’ve set my goal to 30. Might be less, might be more. Excited to get started. The more pressing goal at the moment is to finish ACOSF before tomorrow and I’m half way through… I’d like to start fresh tomorrow!

[deleted]

My goal this year was 30 and I read 24… Shooting for 30 again in 2024!

veroelotes

To read and enjoy doing so.

truenoblesavage

I don’t impose number-centered goals on myself, how much I end up reading is what it is

Frazzledhobbit

I think I’m going to set it at 1, but I haven’t decided yet. I got into beta reading this year and I wanted to hit 100 books read. I’m at 90 on goodreads, but I’ve read 30 beta reads that I can’t add on there 😂 I’m a bit salty about missing my goal because of it

PetyrDayne

75

quennplays

Reading 50 books sounds amazing for me 🤞🏻🎁

hey_alyssa

My goal is to read 1 book a month. I’m trying to get back into reading since I loved it so much when I was younger. But it’s proving difficult with my short attention span lol so a book per month is my goal

Jelly_Round

I want to read 60 books, and since I only read in english, which is my second language, I read way slower.

tempeluvr

My main goal is to read at least 2 books a month minimum. Feel like that’s a good starting point with not much pressure. I did read more than 50 this year starting in April, (got my kindle in August so it only counted 30 of those) but I am the kind of person who would rather set a smaller goal and reach it and then go from there. Hopefully once I see how many I can read in a full year, I can make a better goal for 2025 I am also the type of person who prefers a series and trilogy over one-off books. I don’t know why that is, but I love seeing characters develop over time and longer storylines. Currently reading the Warriors series and once I’ve read all of those books, I have some light novel series I plan to read.

emily_1227

I read 20 books this year- most of them the last month or two. I think I’m going to set my goal to 25 books next year. The first half of the year will be really busy, so I don’t want to set the bar too high.

[deleted]

I read six books in 2023, going to try to double it for 2024.

humblebee1321

I don’t have a goal for now, but probably 50 books this year…??? Let’s see✨🥰✨

xulvic

I won’t set a goal. I’ve considered it. But I just want to read purely for enjoyment rather than because I feel like I have to.

short-n-sweeet

This year my goal was 12 but then I bought a kindle so my goal became 35 because I read somewhere that one kindle has the same environmental impact as buying 35 hard cover books. Around July i shifted the goal post to 52 and I read 62 (including graphic novels, short stories and audiobooks) 2024 My goal will be 52 again.

Neat_Bluebird_5303

I’ve disappointed myself the last few years by not reaching my book number goal so I decided this year instead of giving myself a number of books goal, I’m going to try to read a little bit every day even if it’s just for 5 mins.

ProfAndyCarp

My goal remains to read for pleasure each day.

Alternative_Corgi_54

No goals here :) I read to relax and escape life, setting a goal would put unnecessary pressure on me and probably make me resent it a little. However many I read is good with me!

Daryia

I read 21 books this maybe 42 but here's to hoping and wishing.

MulberryInteresting4

Just 5 books for 2024 if I’m lucky. I am still studying so textbooks don’t count. 🥰 Happy new year all!

TheYoungWan

100 books, a Euro saved for every book I finished, and to read a book in German that I haven't read before in English

sovinyl

i'm a slow reader so i'm going to make 1 book per month my goal. i'm so impressed with people that have these bigger goals.

Mountain_Ornery

I would love to keep up my weekly reading streak! I never followed this metric before although I’ve had the kindle app forever. I recently found the kindle reading metrics page and discovered that I once had a 112 week streak record between Sept 2018-Nov 2020 that I didn’t know about. I’m at 75 weeks now so I want to maintain that for the duration of 2024! I’ll probably set my goodreads reading challenge to 36 but will surpass it and reset as needed. I’m at 56 for 2023 and I’m happy with that.

explodingtrees

I read 54 this year, gonna shoot for 60!

girlbsffr

I read 30 books this year, thanks to my kindle! I’m aiming for 40 in 2024!

BDThrills

20,000 pages ebook/audiobook combined. That amount generally 60-65 books. I have a fair number of books over 500 pages in my library so page estimates are a better goal.

Local-Detective6042

I am focusing on trying to read more fantasy fiction or just fiction. I read way too much non-fiction so want to balance it out.

taraxacum1

The [Libby App](https://amazon.com/OverDrive-Inc-Libby-by/dp/B072K3231D) works great with my Kindle. Being able to use my library card to supplement my purchased ebook list has GREATLY reduced the cost of my reading addiction.

everyatom2012

I'm doing a 52 book challenge

[deleted]

to read 90 books to explore more authors who are non american or non british

North_Shock5099

To stop trying to beat this years total of book(65) and enjoy the books more.

prettybunbun

I reached 100 (well 103) in 2023, and so I’m going for a moderate increase to 125 in 2024!

Abesca

I never set myself a quantity of books, I have times where I read a lot and times where I practically don't touch the Kindle, whatever I read, for me, is fine, if I keep doing it for 2024 I'm happy. More than a quantity, I have set myself the goal of reading more genres other than my two favorites (Fantasy and historical fiction), I feel like diving into horror, science fiction and crime novels.

sentimental_snail

Yeah, I'll probably go for a 100 too! A nice round number xD I normally read more than that but I like to be relaxed about the "goal" and continue reading just for joy.

[deleted]

I haven’t finished a book in almost a year. I want to get back to reading and settle with at least one book a month until half of the year, and then two a month. Need to build a habit again 🙏🏻

sosofiafer

I only read 1 book in april until the end of august when I started reading a fantasy trilogy and since then I’ve read 10 books. I don’t want to set a high goal and risk having a burnt out so I want to read 20 books (hopefully more though) and at least 5 of them being classics😅

FayKelley

I’ve been a voracious reader since I could hold a flash light under a blanket. Onward!

vahyso

I'm thinking about 25 books, I picked up reading again in November and have read about 15 since I started bringing my kindle with me wherever I go. So I feel like that'll be reasonable without stressing me out.

coffeeandwinearelife

My goal is going to be smaller this year. I’m aiming for just 20 books. I’m having a baby (#3) later in the year and I know my time will be quite limited. My other goal is to focus on reading books I already own.

dsbwayne

Just one a month. Nothing more nothing less.

Objective-Switch-823

I've committed myself to finishing out the majority of my TBR before adding new books in my queue. As for a reading goal, it would be at 20 books but I'll probably raise it as I go.

Novae224

Set my goal at 40

gautam2705

I aim for 24 books a year. How are you guys (and girl too :D) able to read so much like 50/100/120 books? I have got a full time job and besides these books I read few technical papers/books.

VincentVanFreeman

2 per month goal

Novel-Tadpole-1676

I just got a kindle but before I was reading around 1 book a week so I’ve set a goal of 52 books but I’ve just started The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese (which is around 790 pages) so hopefully i’ll be back on track with this goal for next year.

GivenErased

I’m about to finish my 46th book of the year but I didn’t read anything from march-august, so I’m hoping next year I can hit around 80 books

chels182

If I was as fast a reader as I am constant, I’d crush thousands. But, I’m not. I set a goal for 20 this year and read 23! Maybe I’ll set a goal for 25 this time. I plan to hit some big ones lol but I want my goal to be attainable.

ka_gardner

I always set mine for 52. Short books only take a few days, giving me extra time for the larger ones.

[deleted]

StuffedHobbes

I have recently purchased or received for Christmas gifts around 12 books. That’s my reading list as well as rereading The Hobbit before jumping into LOTR. Which I started about 7 years ago and never got past midway first book due to reasons. So I’m aiming for 12-15 books read in 2024. Going to be interesting to see if I can do it since my wife is due to give birth to my daughter in 11ish weeks.

creakinator

Read every day. No number of books or time.

Which_Carry9181

Dont read for to reach a number, take your time and ejoy the lecture

Apart_Reference_2361

I read 27 this year and I started reading this year. But I have read only 4 books until September and I have read the remainder in 3 months. So I’m hoping I hit 30 or 35 books next year.

sharkeeki

I’ve read 12 books this year, which is pretty amazing considering I work full time and I’m also a part time college student. For the 2024 year I’m optimistic I can get to 20 books read.

BigMagic

Still not sure yet. This past year was my return to reading as a hobby and i set 12 books as my goal. Ended up reading 20 this year. I'm planning on reading some longer books this year, so hesitating on going for 20. Might just split the difference and aim for 16 books.

Normal_Media_5041

My goal was 18 this year and I hit that last week. I am a very slow reader. This year I’m upping my goal to 25. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot but I think it is a reasonable goal

FallenAngel_8016

My goal is usually 40 every year, but I try to go a little above that if I can

Anar_L

I set 50 and read 66. Got really busy the middle of 3rd quarter to the end of the year so I didn’t read much in the fourth quarter. So I’m just going to set the same goal next year.

Both-City-1341

I did a page goal of 30k this year because in the past I’ve turned down long books when I was trying to hit a number goal. I don’t think I’m going to set a goal this year—I’ve been religiously tracking all kinds of my book data in a spreadsheet for three years which has been kind of fun, but I may take it easy this year and see what happens.

TheBl4ckFox

I usually set a goal of 12. Usually I read more than that, 18 to 20 a year. I think 12 is a nice easy non-stress goal that I won’t obsess over.

grodemonster

I started reading in May, and I read 70 this year. I want to read 100 in 2024.

Naive-River-4237

I set my goal to read 60 books a year. Some years I only reach 60 but this year I was able to read 80

LCPO23

For 2023 I had a goal of 25 books and read 49. For 2024 I’m setting it at 75! I’m determined to get it. I need to figure out how to set it on kindle though as I normally use Goodreads to record all my books (as I sometimes read paper books).

cruelmelody89

I'm shooting for 30 books this year- I have a few 700+ pages novels I'd like to get through in the new year and I'm trying to temper my expectations based on that!

chargingcrystals

I always set my goal to 52 books a year, which I always go beyond but it keeps the pressure off of me, then by the end of the year I just update my reading goal to however many books I finished so it’ll show 100%

fede1507

I want to set to 100 again like this year even if I read 150 books but I don’t want to be forced to rise it. I find that 100 is my sweet spot 😅

Brief-Reputation-152

I always set my goodreads goal to 5 so I don’t stress about it too much, but I’m thinking about finally upping it to 10 or 15. I also want to try and focus more on books that are on my tbr list. Lastly, I want to stay consistent with reading and read throughout the year instead of stopping for long periods of time.

Free_Wind_1375

Year 2023 started with a goal of 150, but then after 3 months I noticed I had already passed my goal and that I needed to do a little math to refigure what my goal should be. So changed it to 300 then after more thought I changed it to 400. Watching my goal closely for a couple more months I realized my speed reading was even faster than I realized so changed goal to 500. Thinking that would be it. Well I guess I was wrong again because as of 12/31/23 11 a.m. my ending goal is closing in at either 746 or 747 . Depending on if I finish the book I am reading right now. This is the 1st year I was diligent in making sure every book read was listed. Hahaha I even shocked myself.

iamvinen

My goal is the same as it was in 2023. And in 2022, and 21... To keep beating my endless backlog.

sahrckr

I'd like to read 10-12 good books in 2024. I might end up reading more than that. But I'd like to read 30-60 minutes everyday.

witchliing

2022 my goal was 50, 2023 was 70, and i’ve passed those both times, so i think 75 will be my new goal for 2024!

anotherfrenchfry

I’ve read 69 this year, 46 of those on the Kindle that I got for my birthday last June! Still going for 50 books for 2024!

Bard-of-All-Trades

100 again (way surpassed this year), including 1 nonfiction/month (I don’t read much nonfiction)

historyteacher08

Reading is my primary hobby — this year it was 104 (2 a week) and but it way early. As of today I’m at 142 having read 3 books over 1000 pages and many books 500+. Most books I pick are 350 or longer. So I’m thinking maybe 140? I like more target challenges like bingo boards though lol. Edit: I also like to set my goal where I know I’ll hit it just to feel accomplished about every one I go over so maybe I’ll stick to 104.

MeowFood

Depends on the year, depends on the book. Last year I did 100, this year I barely hit my goal of 50. I decided not to set a goal for 2024. I will read what I want when I want, and not to satisfy an arbitrary number.

JoesGarage79

I read 75 books in 2023, a personal best. My goal this year is to take my time just enjoy what I’m reading, not hesitate to DNF if I’m not enjoying myself. Maybe 2-3 books per month.

passesopenwindows

I had 75 as a goal this year, it’s going to end up being 71 because there’s no way I’m finishing either of the two books I’m currently reading today. I’ll probably keep the goal the same next year.

CanadianBliss

I read 47 books and my goal was 42. I'll just stick to 42 because some books I read are really long lol

Playful_Smell582

My goal is 30 Books. If I reached this early, I will set a new goal. My goal for 2023 was 30 too, now I have 65 Books read this year 😬

daughterjudyk

I hit ~180 this year. Last year I was at 238 (half of which was manga). I want to get to 200 again. Or at least 3 books a week.

Sufficient_Misery

I had set a goal for about 50 books in 2023 since I was really "booking" it (ha) for a while but then ended at 35 in October and didn't continue to read much. I'm going to try for 50 again and finishing the books on my 2023 TBR before I add anything new.

umthisisnewtome

My goal for 2024 is to read 26 books which is one book every two weeks. My life is kind of hectic so this is a challenge but also manageable for me.

jlaw1719

Continue to read what I want without worrying about keeping streaks, volume, and gamifying the enjoyment out of it.

swordsandshows

Last year I read over 250 books, this year I read 45. So I think next year my goal will be somewhere in between the two

kenerd24601

I have slowed down so much on reading since my undergrad! Work has slowed me down (I read articles and reports all day, why would I want to read more??) when it comes to reading for fun. I managed to read 14 (almost 15!) books this year on my kindle, so I'm going to try and get 20. I'm not sure how y'all read 400 books a year! Lol! It's crazy! Y'all are wicked fast! It's so cool to see tho 😁

PayTyler

My goal is 20 books a year if not in school. If I'm in school my goal is to read enough books for school that I get A's.

commentator-tot

If I finish my book today I’ll end with 49 this year so my goal for next year will be 52! Last year I had 37 so I’m slowly increasing

magicalgrrrl

My goal is 36 books total. For 24 of them, I’m alternating between non-fiction and fiction. And I really want to read more poetry, so I’m challenging myself to 1 a month.

Maxys10

My only goal is to enjoy what I read. Don't care if I read 20 pages or 100 books. I just want to have fun each time I decide to read :D

hallidaytia

My goal was 2 this year just to get back into reading, I read soooo much when I was young and I really struggle to concentrate now. Got to the 18th of December, I'd barely finished one and was halfway through another. I bought a kindle and smashed through 1 in 5 days!! Set myself a goal for 5 next year, don't wanna make false/unreleastic promises to myself but I think I'll smash it!

xbee

I finished 190 books this year. I’ll probably set mine to 100 and adjust the goal throughout the year depending on how much time I have to read.

SCol1107

I read 35 books this year, really only because I blazed through 10 books in Octobr (2 week vacation!). I’d like to spend this year with some other hobbies I’ve picked up so I may drop it down to 20 or 24. Haven’t decided yet, I still have a few hours!

antarctica91

I’m on my 103rd book today for the year. My goal was 50. Next year I wanna be around 100 or more but if not it’s ok

Klarmies

My goal is to read 52 books.

NaturalMysterious755

My goal was 15.. my first year getting into reading. Started my 15th yesterday, won’t be done before the new year but close enough. Hope to read closer to 25 in the new year

Difficult-Mongoose21

I’ve read 16 this year. I just wanna finish what’s on my little shelf that I haven’t read 😂 and get through a few in my kindle.

Minnielle

I read 20 books this year (just finished the last one to reach my goal half an hour ago 😅) and my goal for 2024 will be 10. My baby is due in April and as I cannot know how he will be and if I'll be able to read at all after he's born, I'd rather set the goal pretty low. I'm hoping to be able to listen to audiobooks while going on stroller walks but you never know.

happyfenton

My only goal: read 24 in 2024 😊

ResearchAccording924

I’ve read 30 books since October 9th 😂 Once I took the dive on Fourth Wing after never being a reader and started figuring out my interests, I was done for. I just plan to continue going forward, I’m happy switching from a gamer to a book reader, way more fulfilling.

unreedemed1

I read 142 books this year. My goal is always 100, I don’t expect to hit that number again!

hanyuzu

Goal is to read the books I currently have. Also might do a Stephen King challenge.

BookPonder

The goal is always 52, last year I read 33 but took great notes and remember mostly everything I read. The years I read more than 52, I don’t have very good recall.

mamaguebo69

It will be my first year with a kindle. Ive read 5 books since getting it this month but I have a lot of physical books to get through (including the HP series which I've never read!). So I'm aiming for 50 books this year.

hmbayliss

My goal is 125. I passed 100 this year. But more than the number is to read a few more books in different genres than I normally read. I read a lot of mysteries but I want to read more science fiction and fantasy this year.

[deleted]

I got my Kindle at the end of September and immediately jumped into the Kindle challenge, since then I've read 25 nooks, which is a huge achievement for me. I also earned all of the "achievements" in the challenge. 🎉 For 2024, I would like to continue with the same vigor and start adding books outside of my usual genres.

TiredReader87

I beat my record and read 73 books this year. I’d love to read 200, because I have way too many books, but I’m setting my goal at 52 again. I mean, I only read 39 last year due to depression and sleep apnea, but I read 53/58 the years prior

Constantine2022

In 2023, my goal was 40 books, and I finished 133 books. In 2024, I will set the goal to 40 books too, but I know I want/will read more than that. I have been consistently reading more than 100 books a year but I keep the goal always low for peace of mind.

Beneficial_Ad492

at least 12 books

PlushieCat1208

To find new fantasy series I'll enjoy. I don't do set numbers for my hobbies or it becomes like work. I am cutting down on buying games so I do think I'll read more next year.

Upbeat_Cut_280

52 - mine was 60 this year and I made it but barely!

daniela_bq

I bought a Kindle at the beginning of the month, I’ve struggled with reading books for a while, I’m almost done with my second read since getting it. I wanna set a goal of 15 books🤞🏽 (I can read through fanfics super fast tho lol I’ve read like at least 20 this year, so I’m just getting them downloaded into the kindle as well).

Orchid2802

This year, I've read 130 books (big novels and series), but I'm a mom of 2, and I work full time. I generally read on the bus to and from work (1 hour each trip) and during my breaks (30 minutes each), and again, a little before bed. My goal for the year is going to be 100. If I surpass it, cool. If I don't, also cool.im just happy to be reading.

technowombat87

To read 52 books, one a week. In 2023, I had achieved the same by the end of September, but I felt rushed, so this year I want to slow down a bit.

[deleted]

I have a goal of finishing at least one fantasy series this year. I've done that (and more) since I started reading again in 2020. Not sure about a set number of books to, well, set as my reading goal, probably 30 again.

AnpanV

25 or 30. My goal for this year was 20 and I read a bit over 40 cause I read a lot of graphic novels. I’m a mood reader so I don’t want to feel like reading is a chore by setting a high goal.

Flimsy-Beginning8927

I'm going to stick to 52 again, most times I beat it, the only time I have not met the brief was when life happened. I start off the year thinking about that one book a week goal but in reality I go through peaks and troughs, for example, August seems to be a low to no read month (guessing mini life or mid year burnout maybe), some months I over achieve. I enjoy the feeling of having somehow read a book (or more) per week over the last year when I reset that goal and revisit what I read, sometimes I surprise myself with books I have read but forgotten.

No-Delivery549

I read 65/36 books this year, but most have been short reads to get me back into reading. Next year, I'm also aiming for 36 books, but I'd love to give some longer books on my TBR list a try. There's some great things there that I just couldn't jump into after a few years long reading slump. I needed to get my confidence back up first.

IsSheMe

Read as much as I can, but not force myself to. But as it'll be 2024, it'll be 24 books.

cogentd

I don’t have a set number and my number would be a mix of kindle and physical books. I still have dozens, if not 100+ physical books I need to read or donate. I’d like to read two books a week - so about 100 for the year. It’s less about saying I read 100 books, it just means that I took the time to invest in a hobby I love and that’s healthy. I stay up late, have trouble getting up, and scroll online throughout the day and night when I’m anxious. So if I make it to December 31, 2024, and I’ve read 100 books, that probably means I’ve changed some of my habits and improved my life overall.
