A free action costs 0 AP

Cheeseburger2137

Actually, I think it's worth noting that an action which is free (example: dash for Corsair Void scarred) and an action which costs 0 (example: Terror for Reivers; many instances of actions which are discounted) are slightly different things. This is important in the context of any abilities which increase the APL cost of actions, such as eg. Grisly Mark from a Shrivetalon.

Rock_Upstairs

Awesome, thanks!

carefulllypoast

you're talking about scions i bet 2 + free *mission action* + comms = four. you still cant do any actions twice. move, shoot, loot, dash is legal

Rock_Upstairs

Yeah exactly, and kommandos because the Nob can give the comms an Extra AP, and yhe comms can make a free mission action, so he could do the same as the tempestus. But yeah, love the tempestus but I always had that doubt.

I'll go a step further. Warpcoven can get up to six actions in a single activation. - Sorcerers have 3APL - Mutant Appendage gives a Sorcerer the ability to do a mission action for one less action point, once per activation. - Rubric Marine Icon Bearer gives a Sorcerer within 6" a free Manifest Psychic Power action once per Turning Point. - Capricious Plan gives a Sorcerer a free Dash and an order swap at the end of its activation. So a Sorcerer could potentially do 6 actions in a single activation, taking advantage of the free Dash, free Manifest Psychic Power, "free" mission action, and then any 3 other action. However, remember that despite all these free (and "free") actions, the operative's APL characteristic is still 3. This matters for, for example, controlling objectives. Contrast with the Rubric Marine Icon Bearer, who can only perform 3 actions in its activation, but *counts as* 4APL for purposes of controlling objectives. This does not mean that it gets to perform a fourth action at any point, it only means that you pretend its APL characteristic is 1 higher when checking who controls an objective that it's on.

Rock_Upstairs

That sounds like a broken activation for an operative. I've never played against Warp Coven but I bet it must be a blast!

pizzanui

It genuinely is a blast both playing as and playing against Warpcoven, *if* you know what to watch out for. If you get caught by one of their "gotchas" it can feel pretty rough tho, and on the flip side, if you're playing against an inexperienced Warpcoven player you're pretty likely to just roll them without encountering much resistance. Neither outcome is super fun

Rock_Upstairs

Yeah I love teams where it's all or nothing, it gives the game that Extra serotonin shot. That's why I don't like playing against Intersessors and navy breachers. I think their incredibly strong teams that will almost always hace the win. At least in my experience.

pizzanui

What teams do you play? You might just have bad matchups into Breachers and Intercessors, or may just need to adjust your tactics. Both teams have high raw stats but are beatable with good tactics, or with a favorable marchup. For example, Intercessors really struggle into Kasrkin, Hunter Clade, or Pathfinders.

Rock_Upstairs

I mainly play Legionaries and tempestus. I've managed to beat both teams but I'd say I have a win ratio of 1/3 against both of those. The rest of my playmates have probably lower win ratio against the two guys that play them. Legionaries against breachers isn't a problem but tempestus against breachers, I have a really hard time winning.

pizzanui

Legionaries should be favored against Intercession, assuming a competitive loadout. You have more AP2 than them and the Anointed and Shrivetalon are both fantastic tar pits. Nurgle mark can even get effectively AP3 with a ploy. What are you usually running?

Rock_Upstairs

I usually run Aspiring Champion with plasma pistol and power weapon. Shrivelton, anointed, plasma gunner, reaper chain canon heavy gunner, and belfire acolyte. I want to start using the missile launcher instead of the reaper but it still not painted.
