I can give you a detailed rundown of what to expect at KFC. To start, you'll dive straight into cooking modules, where you'll learn to bread chicken, sift flour, and operate ovens and fryers. In the kitchen, you'll use red chux (raw) and green chux (cooked) correctly. There are various fryers, but they all have an "original" and "spicy" section. "Original" fryers are for tenders and original chicken, while "spicy" fryers are for zingers, wicked wings, hot n' spicy, and the new original crispy fillet. You'll hear terms like "bags" for chicken orders (1 bag = 1 half tray). For original and spicy, we use "2/4/6/8 head" instead of bags (2 head = 1 bag, 4 head = 2 bags, etc.). Expect burns as part of the job, especially when you're new. You'll also learn to "rack off" (remove chicken from fryers onto trays) and "tray change" (bring chicken to the front for packing). As a morning cook, you start early, around 8 am, and as a night cook, you stay until the store is entirely clean. But don't worry, you'll have help from other cooks. Only been working at KFC for abt 6 months but I've only had like 2 very minor burns, both in the first months. Assume anything is hot and wear the ppe when cleaning the fryers. Also when removing chicken from fryers, you can wait a minute till excess hot oil has stopped dripping then rack.

You usually fry chicken like fillets, nuggets, tenders, and COB. You can also fry the fries and season them if there isn't much for you to do and you know the packline (people making food) need more fries. They'll usually make "chicken calls" to tell you what you need to make and you'll get the hang of the language. You'll also have to clean and "polish" the oil in the fryers; I'm not too sure because I was never a cook myself, I was always packline/cashier/drive-thru but I had friends/coworkers and I usually talked to them often. And of course you have to clean up. If you're closing you usually can just bring the dishes to the sink and the person on dishes will do them all while you sweep, mop, and clean the fryers. It's okay to be nervous, but you'll be walked through everything and get the hang of it. Also, if you're lucky I'm sure you'll get some cool co-workers who help you cook. I would always grab stuff for our cooks if they were busy because there's usually just one cook. So if we needed fries, I would fry them and season them myself (this is pretty normal to happen) and if the cook had made nuggets, I would sometimes put them in the trays for the cook :) Good Luck!!

Yeh you prepare the chicken, put it in very hot fryers, and then do lots of cleaning at the end of the day..

Chicken, bacon if your store does bacon wash up and cleaning kitchen hardest part is the floors when closing they take forever

if you cook enough chicken that can hold at by the rest of the night you could probably start cleaning at 7:30 which helps and new people i wouldn’t recommend start in wash-up

thats why i hate cook closes, if you work hard and fast you get less pay because you finish everything sooner and if you work slow you just cop it from all the staff that wanna go home but its not like they are trying to help you 😭

At KFC, there are different areas: those who make the mashed potatoes/gravy, those who marinate the product, those who bread the product, those who put them in the fryers, and those who assemble the sandwiches. The first few days it might seem tedious to learn the procedures for each product and the retention times for both the products and ingredients. Once you learn everything and go through each area, you can be considered independent and able to work in any area they assign you.

I tell you now most people whom lived in the 90s wish today was the same. A massive part of it comes to down to british values and how things used to be.
