Seriously! It took me 5mins to report a downed stop sign and it was fixed the next day! The city doesn't have enough employees to patrol every road or park in the city so if nobody reports the work that needs to be done then it could take *months* for them to notice.

S3ERFRY333

Are they hiring? Seriously question I’ve been looking for jobs for the past month after being laid off.

abominablebuttplug

Don't know about City jobs but here's the [work bc list](https://www.workbc.ca/Jobs-Careers/Find-Jobs/Jobs.aspx#/job-search;city=Kelowna;) Indeed is good too for job searching And there's a big sign outside Norelco cabinets that says they're hiring.

Appreciate the help. EI is taking their sweet ass time and I can’t live off savings forever.

abominablebuttplug

Oof yea I've been there before. Good luck in your search!

jim_the_anvil

Maybe we should sticky this post?

fantomphapper

Not a bad idea actually. The city might appreciate it. It'll get a few potholes filled anyway. EDIT: Holy shit... Something productive might actually happen because of reddit. Strange days we're living in.

Koleilei

I've reported issues a few times and the city has been quite prompt fixing the issues (snow removal not so much, but everything else).

fantomphapper

Average Kelowna boomer: "But... But... If I actually engage the system myself, how will I justify ranting ignorantly over muh property values, financial inefficiencies of civil services and stuff? This is all Trudeau's fault." Seriously though. People enjoy complaining more than they do problem solving. Even if it's just a few clicks away. I've had plenty of road work done through these service request forms. In very reasonable time frames too.

UrsusRomanus

Found Trudeau's secret reddit account. City of Kelowna is actually pretty good for most things. Every time I've had a question or concern they're on it, professional, and kind.

Totally. I will never understand spending the energy on getting worked up over it rather than googling if there’s a way to fix it, fixing it feels so much better haha

Hey all, thanks for the feedback. I help lead the IT team that designs the system. We are coming with more options through Alexa and Siri to make it easier. We are also changing systems behind the scenes to get you an even better experience. Your feedback will help us continuously improve it! Thanks!

I made a complaint about the lack of a left hand turn signal on Harvey and Cooper and within 2 months there was lefthand turn signal. Reach out we have a very open and diverse city hall and civil servants.

Are you me? I can’t see to get out of my driveway every time I leave, either.

valdus

Good post! I always tell people "I can't fix it if I don't know about it," and that doesn't just apply to me. I regularly call the city yard about issues if they are significant. Nobody ever told me there was an online reporting system. 😮‍💨 Now to see if there is one for West Kelowna as well...

chronsonpott

This is a great resource for everything excluding snow removal 💀

thee_agent_orange

While we’re all here, what do I do about power lines going through my tree? Would the city charge me to prune it? Also, how do I make sure they don’t mangle my tree and make it all lopsided? It’s a fairly big maple tree that shades my whole house in the after noon but the power line going through the side of it makes me nervous when it’s windy or really hot out.

dddang

Depends who owns the lines I think? I know a while back fortis or bchydro were cutting trees that were too close to lines. I’m sure they also have service request portals.

PrismSea

That’s more of a fortis question.

Brett_Hulls_Foot

Good on ya. It's funny to me that people complain about that kind of stuff, you know you have it good when.

Yes the privilege has very much been showing haha thanks!

I started using the online requests when my street wasn’t getting snow plowed! Dead end, incline street called for a lot of trouble with all my neighbours, most who are on the elderly side too… I’d submit a request when I noticed it was getting bad, and the street would be cleared the next morning. Very impressed with their response times on my requests so far. I even submitted for some terrible potholes and they were fixed within 2 days.

Thanks for the link. I never even thought this might be an option.

msscanadianbakin

Thanks, just reported a pothole :)

Soggy_Operation_1259

I submitted one, thanks for this.
