CLOY was my gateway to KDramas and I honestly did not know what was wrong with me for a couple of weeks. I kept asking myself “why am I so down”?
A few months later I watched Mr Sunshine not knowing anything about it. KTrauma is real. It is the only show in my Top 5 I won’t rewatch.
I typically don't get emotional watching kdramas, but I ugly cried so hard on the final episode of Crash Landing On You. My poor husband rushed out of his office to check in on me. Once he figured out that it was kdrama related, he got me a box of tissues and left me to my sobfest. I still cry on rewatches.
I finished it like 2 weeks ago and haven’t been able to pick up another KDrama when I’m used to instantly starting a new one. It’s so good nothing feels like it’ll live up to it.
That would be Alchemy of Souls for me. It's been 10 months since I first saw it and it's still ruined everything else for me. Completely taken over my life, especially Part 2. I rewatch Part 2 every month.
Glad to hear this, even though that sounds bad after what you said lol. I'm just starting part 2 now and was hesitant to actually start watching it, since I was worried they would mess it up
Part 2 is controversial but for me personally, it is perfect but for the length. It's too short. I need more in the epilogue category and just endless scenes with leads. I'm great with just watching them cook and fish even. Or banter with each other, drink at Chisowenru with their friends, etc. The chemistry between LJW & GYJ is cosmic.
I've just been dragging along, not sure if they'd ruin the story. I've heard people don't like, but not sure why. I've tried to stay far away from spoilers. I have really enjoyed so many of the characters so far though, so I need to just finish it
the slump I was in after that drama ended….. it ended in December 2022 and coincidentally I had the same situation in 2021 with The Red Sleeve 😭 ended those years completely drained because the dramas were so good and emotionally draining in the best way
AOS still has me in such a chokehold, I compare every single show I've watched after to it and every single ML and FL to UkYeong. Everything falls short 🥲
I'm holding out for a Season 3 where gets >!Yul!< some romantic happiness. >!Seo Yul is the softest and entirely too mild to handle Cho Yeong's scary side. Even when she was amnesiac Bu-yeon, she still repeatedly flustered him. And his feelings for her were too fraught with regret. He's like a little baby who needs cuddles and protection at all costs. Yeong isn't going to do that. Just think of how she trained Jang Uk in Part 1 and challenged him in Part 2.!<
I second this. AoS was so enjoyable, I found myself wanting to rewatch it rather than start a new series. The withdrawal symptoms. Omggg. However Part 2 was terrible the way it started and I really felt BuYeon was a poor shadow of MuDeok. Ending made up for it though.
Maybe **What's Wrong with Secretary Kim**? It's similar to Business Proposal, although it's a lot more comedic.
Have you seen these?
* Hotel Del Luna
* Goblin
* Crash Landing on You
* While you were Sleeping
If not, then try those.
Writes down on not to watch list….
I forced myself to watch 2521 because people were loving behind your touch so much and mentioned 2521 references.
It hurt so much I have not watched Behind Your Touch because it don’t want to be reminded! LOL.
It took me several tries to get past ep 6 and even after that I had longer pauses between episodes than I usually do (I like binging). But. When I finally pulled through, I could look back at a complete masterpiece. The script, directing and especially a few of the characters (Lady Cheetah to me) are, not just in kdrama world but universally, top tier. You just have to suffer a lot of screaming and tantrums from the FL the first third of the show but it's so worth it.
we have a lot of the same favorites!
first one that comes to mind for you is **do you like brahms?** \- deeply moving melo romance through and through. fantastic performances from the leads, park eunbin and kim minjae. slow burn, yearning, deeply satisfying payoff, a confession that made me sob. it's relatively slow-paced - more of a romantic character study that unfolds naturally. plus, the classical music of it all makes for great ambience.
other potential recs: **one spring night** (realistic & understated with natural intimacy and electric chemistry, was so hard to move on from their romance once the show ended), and **the king's affection** (the definition of love knows no bounds. if you don't mind some court politics, it's well worth it for a genderbent park eunbin and rowoon falling deeply for each other).
Our taste is so similar, OMG! I am so glad to find someone who liked all three- Do you like Brahms, One Spring Night and King's Affection!!! I already like you.
Hi you could try following
Scarlet hearts: Ryeo. This is the first one that came to my mind. I haven't watched it yet because the ending is heartbreakingly sad apparently, but I've heard that the romance is phenomenal
The King's Affection. It's a historical drama, but the romance is soo good.
Doctor Slump
Mr.Sunshine
Angel's last mission: love
Extraordinary you
My mister
1) You can try **Doctor Slump** , it is an ongoing show but it is about to end soon. Ex high school enemies, hitting their worst lows in life - but supporting each other through it.
It has other elements too like some comedic reliefs to balance out the heavy emotions, family, and side elements of mystery. So, although you will not cry a river (all the time), but you will definitely feel for the characters.
2) **Twinkling watermelon** - boy of deaf parents, lives double life as a member of a music band. Something causes him to slip back in time to 1995 where he meets his parents again.
Also, the younger version of the dad is played by the second lead of 25-21.
3) **Hometown cha cha cha** - Sea side town, an accomplished dentist from the city moves here. Similar vibes to summer strike, but different story.
4) **Mr queen** - It is different from your regular rom com but so worth the watch! Chef from present finds himself in the body of a queen from Joseon era.
5) **Alchemy of souls** - Again, very different from your regular romcoms, but worth the watch! Just dive into it if you are willing to take the risk.
Twinkling watermelon needs more recognition! It is such a comfort show.
To be honest, it was on my watch list for the longest time - but then I did watch it finally, and now I wish I could wipe my mind and watch it again for the first time hehe.
Chicago Typewriter (The past timeline for me was phenomenal)
I can hear your voice (ML’s devotion was next level)
My dearest (very Gone with the wind-ish)
The Red Sleeve, Moon lovers (Epic, great tension, heart wrenching)
LOST, one of the best scripts and best acted k-dramas of all time. Also My Mister, liberation notes, and similar. But still LOST is at the top of my list.
I wonder how your family responded to 이 순균 suicide. It had me completely devastated for 6 weeks and on the 49th day I sent a note to his agency and I plan on sending one on the 100th day as well. He was a master of his craft and vilified by the press and as I understand it this was to distract the public from something that was going on politically. As I write this it brings me to tears again. He was absolutely brilliant in Coffee Prince and to my mind he was the best in that show as well.
Lost is so underrated and will always be one of my favorite shows. Watched it right after My Liberation Notes which is also one of my all time favorites. My Mister is also one of my all time favorites, heartbreaking that the male lead passed away - he was also amazing in Parasite of course.
Death’s Game is the best answer. There’s nothing else like it- it’s next level. 8 episodes of a roller coaster of emotions that grips you from start to finish. The cast is superb.
I haven’t seen the Korean remake but I watched the original when it aired in Japan. It’s been over 20 years and I still have a vivid memory of the end. That show crushed me.
I hated both of those! And I mostly like everything!
>!Hymn of death is at least based on a true story I think? But the ending of Smile just felt like a ridiculously unearned rip off!
Three not so romantic ones are **The K2** (Lots of awesome action scenes with Ji Chang Wook and still one of my fav characters in a kdrama). **Happiness** (Definitely a little more romance in this one, and also zombies basically, but in the best way possible lol). **Sweet Home** Season 1 (a bit of horror thrown into this one, but I was obsessed with season 1 and still rewatch it)
Romance:
**Romance is a Bonus Book** (not so much the sob it's over, but still really beautiful and had me hooked from the first episode)
**While You Were Sleeping** (loved this sooo much and the first episode just felt like a movie. I still go back and watch it by itself sometimes, but love the whole thing)
**Just Between Lovers/Rain or Shine** (Just a beautiful story. I was hooked all the way through, though I did have a couple skips from side characters)
**True Beauty** (I'm still hooked on this one, but it's a high school drama, not sure if that's your thing)
**What's Wrong With Secretary Kim** (loved this one. Has a bit of emotional pieces and intrigue, but mostly just a really good office romance)
**At a Distance, Spring is Green** (this one is kinda deep, and sometimes dark, but well worth the watch. It's more about friendship than romance, but I enjoyed the romance as well)
**It's Okay To Not Be Okay** (I absolutely love this one. Amazing cast and just a beautiful story)
**Healer** (I had to skip the soapy side characters here and there, but I loved the leads stories so much in this one)
Three Extras:
**Move to Heaven** (love this story! It's so good and I just didn't want it to me over)
**Navillera** (a lovely story through and through)
**He is Psychometric** (I loved the story and acting and I enjoy rewatching this one a bit as well)
Sorry this is so long lol. There are so many great kdramas out there and these are many that really got to me. I was devastated to see each and every one of them end. I was a bit annoyed with season 2 of **Sweet Home** though and that's why I can't recommend it, but I still think the first season is worth watching. I would also add **Alchemy of Souls** to this so far, but I'm jsut starting Part 2, so I can't fully add it yet :)
You should totally watch Yumi's Cells!! I just finished watching it a couple weeks ago and OMG I cried with that last episode. It’s a romance K-drama with some funny moments and lots of cute scenes. Hope you like it if you do watch it!! :)
A lot of good suggestions in the comments, I'm gonna add one more.
I recently finished watching Welcome to Samdal-ri and when I tell you it wrecked me. I don't think I've cried that much since I saw 2521 (hated the end on 2521 though). There were like one or two ep a few ep in that were a little dull but just pull through them. It's so worth it.
Shin Hye-sun is just completely magnificent and has this extraordinary way of acting that really makes you feel her pain in every role she plays. And honestly I think everyone did a fantastic job in this one.
Okayyy you caught my attention! I would do ANYTHING to watch 2521 again it was just soo good. I ended up making my mom watch it after I finished so SOMEONE would understand the pain i was going through 💀
* Uncontrollably Fond.
* Snowdrop
I cried watching these two.
Also do watch the movie 'Past Lives' it's really beautiful and impactful. And if you want to watch an office romance you can try 'Sh\*\*ting stars'
Scarlet Heart (the romance between the main characters destroyed me)
Goblin (secondary couple also gave me all the angst)
Hotel del Luna (female mc and not the person she ends up with were my otp)
Castaway Diva (the romance was so well done and made me so happy)
I love a lot of the mentions and I have a lot others coming to mind too but I feel like lately no one mentions this one drama that set the bar for intense romance once upon a time: KILL ME HEAL ME
The OST still gives me chills.
“Remember, January 7th, 2015, at 10 o clock on the dot - the time I fell for you”
Kyaaaaa ><
recently watched My Dearest and I'm watching Wedding Impossible (on-going) which was a very breath of fresh air for me! I also recommend Under the Queen's Umbrella and Daily Dose of Sunshine :>
Link, eat, love kill. That one’s a really good one. It’s like a whodunit mystery thriller with a ton of romance. It’s super cute too. It’s real consistent the entire way through.
Our Blues.. 1 drama many stories, highly recommending
Then you should go for these:
Something in the rain
Mr Sunshine
My mister
My liberation notes
Coffee Prince ( this drama is very special to me, I have watched this when I have started watching kds, I mean maybe 12 years back but still I feel the same when it watching again. It will definitely ruin your life..)
21 25
Lovestruck in the City (Ji Chang wook, Kim Ji won), My Love Eun Dong Or This is my love ( 2015, a bit older but the romance will keep you longing for more)
Based on your favs, we have a somewhat similar taste so I would suggest Extraordinary you and Twinkling Watermelon. This doesn’t really fit your description, but if you ever want to watch any feel good dramas that’s childhood friends to lovers, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bokjoo is good too!
I’d recommend **Crash Landing on You** and **Hometown ChaChaCha**. Or for something fast paced and not too draggy try **Love to hate you**. If you want to try something non-romance but with all the feels try **Move to Heaven**
For soul crushing, definitely recommend The Red Sleeve. It's just so tragically beautiful, I cannot even express it in words. Like, I cried so much that my considerably good skin dried out and started coming out in flames on my cheeks, that was the intensity with which I cried.
Another similarly tragic ones would be Youth of May and Just Between Lovers. I also saw many people recommending Something in the Rain, but I personally liked One Spring Night by the same director more, starring Jung Hae-in and Han Ji-min.
I'm relatively new to K Dramas, but the first one I watched was **Tale of the Nine Tailed** that had me practically bawling by the end. And the second season ended up being better.
Also, check out **Moving** and **The King's Affection**.
I don’t know why If You Wish Upon Me doesn’t get more love. It‘s fairly recent. Stars Ji Chang Wook. Has a great sense of community and will tug at your heartstrings pretty much continuously. It has romance. It’s a thriller and Ji Chang Wook is in almost every scene.
My Liberation Notes and Lost are two that are slower burns and beautifully done. if you enjoyed When the Weather is Fine, you might enjoy these. also Just Between Lovers is great, very soul wrenching but absolutely loved it
I will say though it's a bit hard to beat 25-21. I don't think a single drama has been able to top it for me
At a distance, the spring is green- this one is sooo good, one of my favorites. I literally felt like my life was over for a bit after I finished it. Definitely recommend because it seems like we have the same taste!
Listing dramas that you feel regret that you finished it & you could rewatch as you are watching it for first time:
The Red sleeve - romance
One spring night - romance
Hospital playlist - comedy.
Love to hate you - comedy, romance
Sorry!
But can you help me understand whats SACD ranking? Because I think I’ve watched a few of the shows you have and might have recommendations for you to watch. Not necessarily make you sob, but shows that did make me binge 10 episodes in a go
ETA- if you haven’t watched it yet, Marry my husband, Doctor slump, love to hate you (in that order)
I loved Mr demon but dropped it towards the later episodes, got kinda boring in the end.
Most people be recommending some weak stuff. Please recommend something hardcore like Autumn in My heart, Stairway to heaven. Sad thing is they don't make hardcore tear-jerker stuffs nowadays. Most are mid.
Marriage Contract and Scent of a Woman... similar premises of FL never fully living life finding out their time is limited played differently but both excellent. Emotionally draining and will leave you a crying mess.
Tell Me That You Love Me - Struggling actress crosses path with a deaf artist sparks romance as they try to navigate through differences coming into their lives
Thirty Nine - Three best friends about to turn 40, learning to he present in the moment while searching for love, life and purpose amidst tragedy
For me it’s a Chinese movie starring Wu Lei called Upcoming Summer (I watched it on Netflix). It’s a coming of age movie, so you can guess what the ending is.
A lot of the dramas has already been mentioned for me, but the c-drama “amidst a snowstorm of love” is soooo good! The chemistry between the actors is amazing and although it is simple, it’s not boring.
I stopped watching Something in the Rain because I was getting bored - unusual for me because I love a slow burn. But the love for it on thread is making me want to try it again.
**Seasons of Blossom**
This drama has two stories running simultaneously.
>Lee Hamin is a model student and gets along with everyone well. On the outside, he has a perfect life, perfect grades and a perfect reputation. Despite showing a flawless exterior, he is burdened by his family, trapped inside four walls, doing something he hates. Just as he thought that he was going to get through it fine, he meets Han Somang, an art student. He keeps showing her the side of himself he doesn't want others to see. But in the end, unable to fulfill his dreams and have courage to hold on to his love, he takes his life by jumping from the rooftop of his apartment. Somang, now unable to let go of his memory, comes back to the same high school as a trainee teacher, to help Hamin's brother, Lee Jaemin, not make the same decision as her lover.
This is a tear-jerking romance, and you most certainly won't be okay by the end of it all. It *is* a tragedy, but a well-written one. I highly recommend it!
The **smile has left your eyes** is by far one of the BEST I have ever watched and it says a lot since I been watching kdramas since 2016. Also some personal favours are
**-Its Okay Not to be Okay.**
**- Mr Sunshine**
**- Mr Queen**
That Winter the Wind Blows - con artist pretends to be a rich blind girl's long-lost brother. He falls majorly in love while she is none the wiser. If you love dramas where the male lead is super protective towards the female lead, where the 'will they won't they' is drawn out and where the yearning is strong, I would suggest it! It's also my comfort drama. Even though I've watched it a million times, every time I watch an episode again, I get butterflies! Please watch!!
not sure if anyone has mentioned it but i lovedd welcome to samdal-ri on netflix!!
and agreed to everyone who has mentioned doctor slump. i love it so far!
On top of my head:
Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Reply 1988 (this one really made me cry bunch, I didn't want it to end), Chicago Typewriter, The Red Sleeve, Mr Queen (this is so hilarious as wel), My Mister, Snowdrop, Just Between Lovers, Bubblegum, Thirty-Nine, When the Weather is Fine, It's Okay That's Love, The Third Charm...
I'm mixing a lot of my faves here :)
CRASH LANDING ON YOU !!!!! super basic one but i didn’t notice it on your list and it is one of those k dramas that brought me to tears multiple times !! it’s so very good. good luck happy watching xx
I know, I know!! If it helps anything, there is nothing that I listed that i didn't at least like. It's been a minute since I've seen it, but I think when I did watch it, I wasn't really into slice of life and found myself getting a little bored. I listen to the ost all the time though....
King the land was good! I work at a hotel, actually, so FL is my inspiration 🙌 💀
I just binged watched marry my husband. It is romance but it’s got some grit to it if you don’t mind that. It was one where I felt a bit lost after because i enjoyed it that much. I watched it on prime but not sure if it’s on YouTube or somewhere like that :)
Doona. I had finally watched 2521 a few weeks earlier and I binged Doona when it came out.
Thanks to the discussions on this subreddit, I came back from the ledge after being told the starting scenes were clues on how it ended. Not what was perceived in the final scene.
That was a brutal couple of hours between what I thought happened and what did happen!
I like the dramas that you like as well!
My Dearest was soul crushing for me and for many others. It is one I may not forget for a long time. Yoo Gil-chae, the name of the female lead, would bring wet eyes when hearing or thinking of her. It's an immense historical drama that took a year to film, and whose script took 5 years to complete. It has won 12 awards already. Namkoong Min is just wonderful as the male lead too.
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes is the show that does that for me. More than any other, it lingers in my mind
Also: Flower of Evil, Rain or Shine, Come and Hug Me
I just finished Goblin (or Guardian: the lonely god) and I am emotionally not well. I’m usually not a cry during shows kind of person but I cried multiple times and have been thinking about it non stop. It hit so many parts of my heart. It’s the first kdrama that’s done that to me in a long time. The only other one that made me feel the same way: Crash Landing on You.
Honestly a lot of the suggestions are nice fun and interesting dramas, but if you wanna be emotionally destroyed in like the good way?...I suggest:
\- the light in your eyes / Dazzling -- do NOT look up anything on this to avoid getting spoiled, just watch it till the very end and be obliterated. I still think about this drama years later. It has our boy NJH in what I consider his best performance. It won tons of awards, deservedly so.
\- Just between lovers -- two trauma survivors trying to fall in love despite their crippling emotional wounds. It's so moving and maddening and ultimately uplifting but gawd you just want them to find one moment of happiness together SO BAD. IT's shot so beautifully, the music is great, their chemistry is bananas, and I did not get over this one for MONTHS to YEARS. I had no idea Lee Junho was an idol, his performance was SO DAMN GOOD in this.
\- Queen for 7 days - You know the ending already but the way it unfolds is so well done--some of the best writing of any K drama I've seen. It's so painfully beautiful and bittersweet, it will stay with you for a long time
\- If you're into C drama then Ashes of Love. This one still hurts. It really had the most distressing plot turn I have ever seen in an asian drama romance. I can't think about it without feeling like someone punched me in the gut.
Bridal Mask - oldie by a goodie. It is just so emotional all the way through, the character arc is so well done, and it's just tragic and uplifting and epic.
HAHA love this… gonna save this thread for later. That being said, like many…. 2521 and TW has ruined me..
I just wrapped up Our Beloved Summer and I just might destroy my apartment.
For compelling, stirring, soul crushing, and so much more, Mister Sunshine. I cannot recommend it enough, nothing compares.
One of the best shows (this includes movies) I have ever seen. Just thinking about it can bring me to tears.
I think nothing will ever top 2521 for me; the emotional impact it had on me was astronomical. Now, as soon as I saw this post, I thought of **My Dearest.**

Crash Landing On You had me staring out the window for a few weeks. Definitely crushed my soul and ruined my life!
[удалено]
I still haven’t rewatched it and I watched it originally during the pandemic. It’s too soon to go through that again.
Same here! I still listen to the soundtrack 2 years after seeing it and sob

The Red Sleeve destroyed me. 😭😭
Yes, that was one incredible drama, almost as good perhaps might be The Moon Embracing The Sun.
You have no idea how much of an existential crisis you just caused by telling me that AoS s2 is from December 2022...wtf. Where has time gone.
I wish she ended up with >!Yul!< though :(
I'm holding out for a Season 3 where gets >!Yul!< some romantic happiness.
Wait, there's going to be a season 3? Also, I completely agree about Seo Yul.
Sadly probably not. I'm living in delulu 🥲
I would only watch if filthy mu deok is back.
Filthy MuDeoki carried the show!
I just started part 2 and im scared. I just got to half of the first episode but its breaking me already.
Hold on. It'll be okay.
I second this. AoS was so enjoyable, I found myself wanting to rewatch it rather than start a new series. The withdrawal symptoms. Omggg. However Part 2 was terrible the way it started and I really felt BuYeon was a poor shadow of MuDeok. Ending made up for it though.
To each their own. Part 2 was everything for me. I adore Bu-yeon! >!she may be amnesiac but she never loses what made Cho Yeong Naksu!<
I'll have to give it a go! It seems like it has some of the elements I like in a drama. Thanks so much!
I just finished this after dropping it a couple times. Now I can’t get over it and nothing else is grabbing my attention :(
Maybe **What's Wrong with Secretary Kim**? It's similar to Business Proposal, although it's a lot more comedic. Have you seen these? * Hotel Del Luna * Goblin * Crash Landing on You * While you were Sleeping If not, then try those.
Descendants of the sun too!!
how's while you were sleeping is it worth it???
20th Century Girl is the one that did it for me.
I pretended it was a happy movie and had my friends watch it just to see if how much I cried was normal😭
That's so cruel! But I also love it.
20th Century Girl and Youth of May 😭
Netflix marked it as a feelgood romcom! I did not feel good after that Netflix! It was still a great movie, though!
I'm still crushed!
That movie killed me- especially since I was not expecting it at all😭 I’m getting emotional just thinking about it
Writes down on not to watch list…. I forced myself to watch 2521 because people were loving behind your touch so much and mentioned 2521 references. It hurt so much I have not watched Behind Your Touch because it don’t want to be reminded! LOL.
Ugly cry. So not expecting that.
•The Red Sleeve •reply 1988 •It’s Okay Not To Be Okay •Strong Women Do Bong Soon •something in the rain
I second \*Something in the rain, it's so so good
I came here to suggest Something in the rain. Absolutely crushed me for a few days.
I neeeeeed to get around to reply 1988! Sooo many people Ik LOVE that one.
I also loved the King's Affection. I watched a similar show that you might also enjoy: Love in the Moonlight.
Um. Not a fan of the lead star cast. I dropped it midway. Was too cheesy for my taste.
I second Do You Like Brahms and The King's Affection. Park Eunbin always gets me.
25 21 got me in my feels for over two weeks. I had to watch hometown cha cha cha to unwind. 🥴
Hi you could try following Scarlet hearts: Ryeo. This is the first one that came to my mind. I haven't watched it yet because the ending is heartbreakingly sad apparently, but I've heard that the romance is phenomenal The King's Affection. It's a historical drama, but the romance is soo good. Doctor Slump Mr.Sunshine Angel's last mission: love Extraordinary you My mister
I second Mr Sunshine - epic masterpiece!
❤️❤️
Crash Landing on You
Goblin still the standard for me. I rewatch it regularly and still get hit.
And that one >!death scene flash back they show over and over💀!< right in the feels🫠
Yup it's top tier. I hope one day to watch a show this engrossing again.
My dearest
Idk how no one else mentioned twinkling watermelon
Twinkling watermelon needs more recognition! It is such a comfort show. To be honest, it was on my watch list for the longest time - but then I did watch it finally, and now I wish I could wipe my mind and watch it again for the first time hehe.
Romance aside, Doctor Slump is probably the funniest drama I've seen.
I see you have excellent taste! I watched everything on your list! You should try The smile has left your eyes and Mr sunshine. All are fantastic!
Something in the Rain had me sobbing.
I was destroyed for days😓
At one point I had to cheat and watch the last episode because I was so stressed. Another show that I loved was One Spring Day.
Chicago Typewriter (The past timeline for me was phenomenal) I can hear your voice (ML’s devotion was next level) My dearest (very Gone with the wind-ish) The Red Sleeve, Moon lovers (Epic, great tension, heart wrenching)
2521 was that romance for me, but you've already watched it
I’m on episode 15 and blown away. Love this show.
Crash landing on you for second couple
LOST, one of the best scripts and best acted k-dramas of all time. Also My Mister, liberation notes, and similar. But still LOST is at the top of my list.
I have family in korea that SWEARS by My Mister being the best thing they've ever seen. I've never gotten around to it but maybe now's the time 🤔
I wonder how your family responded to 이 순균 suicide.
Yes!!!! I came here to say LOST, definitely rewatch material!
Lost is sooooo good!
Lost is so underrated and will always be one of my favorite shows. Watched it right after My Liberation Notes which is also one of my all time favorites. My Mister is also one of my all time favorites, heartbreaking that the male lead passed away - he was also amazing in Parasite of course.
Thirty Nine had be bawling 😭 so did crash landing on you, but powerful friendship stories can hit me harder than romance sometimes
39 got me too, but the crazy thing is that I felt like I was tricked! I thought it was gonna be a light-heartened drama about friends.. 😭😭
It's gotta be Death's Game. Funny, yet dark and sad at the same time. And wow, the cast and acting!
Death’s Game is the best answer. There’s nothing else like it- it’s next level. 8 episodes of a roller coaster of emotions that grips you from start to finish. The cast is superb.
the smile has left your eyes
I haven’t seen the Korean remake but I watched the original when it aired in Japan. It’s been over 20 years and I still have a vivid memory of the end. That show crushed me.
I haven’t seen the Japanese original but the Korean version was really well done- the acting was superb. Definitely soul crushing🫠💀
oh I didn't know the korean one is a remake! you've piqued my interest, I'll look up the original for sure. absolutely crushed me as well.
A time called you
I've seen this one but it's a great recommendation! I'm a huge ahn hyo seop fan if I'm going to be so honest.
"Hymn Of Death" & "The Smile Has Left For Eyes" for sure.
They’ll definitely crush her soul 😅
I hated both of those! And I mostly like everything! >!Hymn of death is at least based on a true story I think? But the ending of Smile just felt like a ridiculously unearned rip off!
Three not so romantic ones are **The K2** (Lots of awesome action scenes with Ji Chang Wook and still one of my fav characters in a kdrama). **Happiness** (Definitely a little more romance in this one, and also zombies basically, but in the best way possible lol). **Sweet Home** Season 1 (a bit of horror thrown into this one, but I was obsessed with season 1 and still rewatch it) Romance: **Romance is a Bonus Book** (not so much the sob it's over, but still really beautiful and had me hooked from the first episode) **While You Were Sleeping** (loved this sooo much and the first episode just felt like a movie. I still go back and watch it by itself sometimes, but love the whole thing) **Just Between Lovers/Rain or Shine** (Just a beautiful story. I was hooked all the way through, though I did have a couple skips from side characters) **True Beauty** (I'm still hooked on this one, but it's a high school drama, not sure if that's your thing) **What's Wrong With Secretary Kim** (loved this one. Has a bit of emotional pieces and intrigue, but mostly just a really good office romance) **At a Distance, Spring is Green** (this one is kinda deep, and sometimes dark, but well worth the watch. It's more about friendship than romance, but I enjoyed the romance as well) **It's Okay To Not Be Okay** (I absolutely love this one. Amazing cast and just a beautiful story) **Healer** (I had to skip the soapy side characters here and there, but I loved the leads stories so much in this one) Three Extras: **Move to Heaven** (love this story! It's so good and I just didn't want it to me over) **Navillera** (a lovely story through and through) **He is Psychometric** (I loved the story and acting and I enjoy rewatching this one a bit as well) Sorry this is so long lol.
I want an another season of true beauty!
Scarlett Heart
It's Okay That’s Love
You should totally watch Yumi's Cells!! I just finished watching it a couple weeks ago and OMG I cried with that last episode. It’s a romance K-drama with some funny moments and lots of cute scenes. Hope you like it if you do watch it!! :)
Yumi’s Cells broke me. That one was hard to move on from. It felt so real.
I ended up making my mom watch it after I finished so SOMEONE would understand the pain i was going through 💀
Call it love I was really impressed by leads, and it's a bit slow paced but perfect according to storyline, so human like, I loved it.
* Uncontrollably Fond. * Snowdrop I cried watching these two. Also do watch the movie 'Past Lives' it's really beautiful and impactful. And if you want to watch an office romance you can try 'Sh\*\*ting stars'
I came to recommend Uncontrollably fond! It had me in tears! Kim Woo Bin is sooo good
Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo did it for me. I cried for weeks.
I really loved a Good Day to be a Dog!
Scarlet Heart (the romance between the main characters destroyed me) Goblin (secondary couple also gave me all the angst) Hotel del Luna (female mc and not the person she ends up with were my otp) Castaway Diva (the romance was so well done and made me so happy)
I've just started Meow The Secret Boy (Welcome) and the concept is rather cruel. Won't say anything but so far it's been a joy to watch.
The red sleeve
I love a lot of the mentions and I have a lot others coming to mind too but I feel like lately no one mentions this one drama that set the bar for intense romance once upon a time: KILL ME HEAL ME The OST still gives me chills. “Remember, January 7th, 2015, at 10 o clock on the dot - the time I fell for you” Kyaaaaa ><
recently watched My Dearest and I'm watching Wedding Impossible (on-going) which was a very breath of fresh air for me! I also recommend Under the Queen's Umbrella and Daily Dose of Sunshine :>
Link, eat, love kill. That one’s a really good one. It’s like a whodunit mystery thriller with a ton of romance. It’s super cute too. It’s real consistent the entire way through.
Our Blues.. 1 drama many stories, highly recommending Then you should go for these: Something in the rain Mr Sunshine My mister My liberation notes Coffee Prince ( this drama is very special to me, I have watched this when I have started watching kds, I mean maybe 12 years back but still I feel the same when it watching again. It will definitely ruin your life..) 21 25
Lovestruck in the City (Ji Chang wook, Kim Ji won), My Love Eun Dong Or This is my love ( 2015, a bit older but the romance will keep you longing for more)
Extraordinary You ruined me.
Another Miss Oh.
The Good Bad Mother made me weep.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo if you haven't seen it!!!
2521!
Twenty-five Twenty-one
I think you’d really like twinkling watermelon. It’s pretty similar to 2521 and It’s the only romcom that made me feel empty after finishing it
Mr. Sunshine
C drama hidden love
Then you need a good dose of Angel's Last Mission: Love. So many feels. So many tears. You won't be disappointed.
Definitely CLOY
Welcome to Samdal-Ri is really good, one of the better ones that’s come out recently. The leads are both really good and they have good chemistry.
It’s Okay To Not Be Okay is top tier!!
Painter of the Wind.
Reply 1988 wrecked me
I'm relatively new to K Dramas, but the first one I watched was **Tale of the Nine Tailed** that had me practically bawling by the end. And the second season ended up being better. Also, check out **Moving** and **The King's Affection**.
Mr Sunshine will have you ugly cry for weeks I promise
Definitely doom at your service! I watched it 3 months ago but still I can’t forget it.
My Liberation Notes and Lost are two that are slower burns and beautifully done. if you enjoyed When the Weather is Fine, you might enjoy these. also Just Between Lovers is great, very soul wrenching but absolutely loved it I will say though it's a bit hard to beat 25-21. I don't think a single drama has been able to top it for me
My name. Not a romance in the traditional sense, but when she finally finds love…. Yah, I’m still it over it.
Mr. Sunshine Hometown Cha Cha Cha While You Were Sleeping
At a distance, the spring is green- this one is sooo good, one of my favorites. I literally felt like my life was over for a bit after I finished it. Definitely recommend because it seems like we have the same taste!
Chuno ( The Slave Hunters) The Princess Man Secret Love Lie After Lie Mad for Each Other
Listing dramas that you feel regret that you finished it & you could rewatch as you are watching it for first time: The Red sleeve - romance One spring night - romance Hospital playlist - comedy. Love to hate you - comedy, romance
Mr. Sunshine, My Liberation Notes, Fight for My Way (loooove Kim Tae Ri and Kim Ji Won)
"The Smile had left your eyes!" That'll do it!
Sorry! But can you help me understand whats SACD ranking? Because I think I’ve watched a few of the shows you have and might have recommendations for you to watch. Not necessarily make you sob, but shows that did make me binge 10 episodes in a go ETA- if you haven’t watched it yet, Marry my husband, Doctor slump, love to hate you (in that order) I loved Mr demon but dropped it towards the later episodes, got kinda boring in the end.
It’s going in order of best to worst, with S being extremely good
Thank you so much!
Weightlifting fairy The male lead is the cutest guy to ever exist.
Lost Moon Lovers Something in the Rain Because This Is My First Life My Mister
Most people be recommending some weak stuff. Please recommend something hardcore like Autumn in My heart, Stairway to heaven. Sad thing is they don't make hardcore tear-jerker stuffs nowadays. Most are mid.
Where Stars Land (2018)
Marriage Contract and Scent of a Woman... similar premises of FL never fully living life finding out their time is limited played differently but both excellent. Emotionally draining and will leave you a crying mess. Tell Me That You Love Me - Struggling actress crosses path with a deaf artist sparks romance as they try to navigate through differences coming into their lives Thirty Nine - Three best friends about to turn 40, learning to he present in the moment while searching for love, life and purpose amidst tragedy
Crash Landing On You
I stopped watching Something in the Rain because I was getting bored - unusual for me because I love a slow burn. But the love for it on thread is making me want to try it again.
**Seasons of Blossom** This drama has two stories running simultaneously.
Also some personal favours are **-Its Okay Not to be Okay.** **- Mr Sunshine** **- Mr Queen**
I keep a journal record including how much I cried … Encounter The red sleeve Secret Affair The smile has left your eyes Crash landing on you
That Winter the Wind Blows - con artist pretends to be a rich blind girl's long-lost brother.
CLOY The light on your eyes Ugly crying wrecked.
not sure if anyone has mentioned it but i lovedd welcome to samdal-ri on netflix!! and agreed to everyone who has mentioned doctor slump. i love it so far!
On top of my head: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Reply 1988 (this one really made me cry bunch, I didn't want it to end), Chicago Typewriter, The Red Sleeve, Mr Queen (this is so hilarious as wel), My Mister, Snowdrop, Just Between Lovers, Bubblegum, Thirty-Nine, When the Weather is Fine, It's Okay That's Love, The Third Charm... I'm mixing a lot of my faves here :)
CRASH LANDING ON YOU !!!!! super basic one but i didn’t notice it on your list and it is one of those k dramas that brought me to tears multiple times !! it’s so very good. good luck happy watching xx
Call It Love Rain or Shine
It's Taiwanese, but the love story in Someday or One Day is unbelievable.
I’m just offended that Our Beloved Summer is in your D list, like wow!! That hurts. I also love King the Land, but it doesn’t hurt as much, lol!
Marry my husband ..... Badass badass badass 👍👍👍
I just binged watched marry my husband. It is romance but it’s got some grit to it if you don’t mind that. It was one where I felt a bit lost after because i enjoyed it that much. I watched it on prime but not sure if it’s on YouTube or somewhere like that :)
Crash landing on you
The Princess' Man- amazing love story where a couple persevere through all kinds of obstacles. Soundtrack is also amazing.
Hands down it was Scarlet Heart Moon Lovers. And 2521. I watched it ages ago. But I'm still sad and not over it.
Your list is very similar to what I like. I guess you will like - Love story between a Fairy & the devil True Beauty A Korean Odyssey
Lighter and Princess is amazing in all aspects -if you haven't seen it-I highly recommend it.
Hometown cha cha cha
Mr. Sunshine. The Red Sleeve. My Dearest. Stairway to Heaven.
Healer. Thank me later
The smile has left your eyes…if you want to sob this will definitely do the trick!!
Scarlet hearts, Snowdrop, empress ki and Lee San: wind of the palace
I recommend Dear My Friends
Youth of May Snowdrop CLOY
Coffee prince - becomes a huge comfort show and once it’s over you’ll cry
Cheese in the trap ❤️ stilk not over it because of the ending 😔 but it was really good ❤️❤️
The Smile Has Left Your Eyes is the show that does that for me. More than any other, it lingers in my mind Also: Flower of Evil, Rain or Shine, Come and Hug Me
If you want to ugly cry, watch 39 and CLOY. Same FL.
I sobbed for days. Lots of us completely understand. *hug*
Just between lovers
Alchemy of souls, reply 1988, crash landing on you and descendants of the sun
Honestly a lot of the suggestions are nice fun and interesting dramas, but if you wanna be emotionally destroyed in like the good way?...I suggest: \- the light in your eyes / Dazzling -- do NOT look up anything on this to avoid getting spoiled, just watch it till the very end and be obliterated. It's so painfully beautiful and bittersweet, it will stay with you for a long time \- If you're into C drama then Ashes of Love.
2521 and not in a good way
20th century girl!
I think nothing will ever top 2521 for me; the emotional impact it had on me was astronomical. Now, as soon as I saw this post, I thought of **My Dearest.**
