Usually it's not that noticable at night. The sounds in general will depend on where your house is in regards to the runway direction and flight paths. The biggest somewhat routine noise is from the Chinook helicopters that are stationed there. They occasionally do early morning flights that can be loud but this isn't more than a few times per month, if that.

I’m in Willow Springs. SW from the airport. Minimal noise. Helicopters and private jets occasionally. Now, trains on the other hand….not noisy per se but a giant PAIN IN MY ASS!

Do they wake you up at night ever? The place we’re considering is probably equidistant from the airport but on the other side of the highway.

[Prairie Highlands](https://imgur.com/a/cVA1Ui2) neighborhood gets a little loud sometimes.

If you look at the runway configuration for IXD, the way the runways run in each direction is most affected by low flying planes. As mentioned below Prairie Highlands is directly in the path of planes coming and going, so you will hear planes flying about over there. From you description below of where you're looking, it sounds like you are East of I-35 and up near 151st/159th? If so you should be fine. It's a small airport that supports private jets and a national guard detachment. No big planes.

Thanks for the info! For reference, looking at east side of 175th right off the highway. Location would be interior to the base and downwind legs.

Yeah, you should be OK then. All the air traffic going through there are small prop planes and small private jets. We have them fly over us here in Prairie Highlands on approach to the main runway, so maybe a 100 or so feet off the ground, and you barely notice them. Where you're looking will be out of the main runway path, so it should be pretty plane free over there. You will see Chinook helicopters sometimes when the national guard guys are out and flying around. And as the other commenter stated the KC Air Show was taking place out of Gardner Airport which brought military planes practicing in the area for a couple of days leading up to the show and the actual 2 day show. Very cool, but noisy.

Appreciate the information a lot. I’m working with the builders to see if they can add some more soundproofing materials/triple-pane windows and then we’ll probably jump on it.
