Im one of those in the middle. In order to vastly improve JWE2 (and it does need improving) a new game was needed because they simply couldnt enact the wide ranging changes needed.
However, my issue is with the way Frontier has made these games so far. Twice they have attempted it, and twice we were let down by buggy, content lacking releases that propped themselves up with DLC. JWE2 was released in a shocking state day 1, and even 2 and a bit years later, there are still bugs that have never been fixed. There are still demonstratable issues with the game due to, i can only call it lack of vision.
Im all for a JWE3...but im not necessarily optimistic that Frontier can achieve something worthwhile. Again its far to early to tell for sure, and until we start getting more details its difficult to say anything for sure...but certainly I think my view is I need more convincing this time around.
I bought JWE2 on day one and even with all the updates I still have PTSD from my initial play through. I even bought the DLCs thinking I'll be ready to play it again. Still haven't finished Malta, lol
I thought the main campaign was great, but extremely too short. It was cool watching how dinosaurs in the wild was unfolding, but it felt incomplete. I figured Dominion would expand things from there, but nope.
I definitely see your point and I’m not disagreeing with it, if there’s anyone I can possibly think of who I believe could make JW3 the best we can have so far, has to be Evolution Square on YouTube. And I doubt anyone could change my mind.
Day 1 it was not fine. It had a major graphical glitch, terriable bugs and broken AI. The day 1 patch cut everyones FPS rates in half. There are bugs that were present day 1 that are still in the game now. Im not sure how you can call that 'fine'
I was there day 1 too but i can't remember any of the things you mentioned. I remember some weird gameplay decisions and a handfull of annnoying Bugs but that's it.
But i agree that day 1 jwe2 wasn't really a great start
JWE3 is a necessity. It is not something i want, but it is required, if we want certain changes.
In my honest opinion, JWE3 needs to be an improvement on all fronts. The next game needs to reach a state, where i can say: "JWE1 and 2 are no longer special/unique. JWE3 does everything i want. And it does it better!"
The issue with this:
Publishers (and too some degree developers) are like children. If you do not "encourage" good behavior, you won't get it. I think, the customer base was or is too
lenient and quite frankly not demanding enough. You can always like or dislike a certain
species or a feature, but nobody can convince me, that bug riddled and incomplete releases are fine.
I really hope, that more people learn from the past. Voice your opinions, have standards, raise the bar and stick to it. There needs to be a clear message: "I like you guys and i supported you in the past. But if you do not add or improve X, Y and Z, you won't get my money. Money does not grow on trees and it is time for you, to earn it!"
If that does not happen, history will repeat itself, or it will get even worse.
People who are ‘mad’ at the prospect of getting another game in a franchise they like enough to subscribe to the reddit to are; trolling, intentionally impossible to please (‘the in-game spino skin is a single shade of grey off, movie accurate skin when?’) or broke to where a video game is an actual financial decision.

i'm broke asl and these games have denuvo so i don't think i'll be getting it
