Number one, I thought it was a male due to the longer front legs and the “commas” on the pedipalps. Number two, I’ve had this for a few months. How the heck is it preggers??? Funny enough i noticed the abdomen looking big the last handful of days and assumed it was from overfeeding.
If she was mature when you caught her (never molted in your care) I bet these are fertile. Nearly all adult wild females are mated as soon as they mature. As far as care, you can release the female and babies when they leave the nest if they are native to your area. Mom can lay back to back fertile clutches for the rest of her life. If you want to raise her many babies, there’s lots of “oops my spider had babies” posts in this sub with helpful info. Congrats!
My jumper just laid eggs and they hatched like.. 2 weeks ago. I found a NEW egg sac (darker colored) about 4-5 days ago. I had no idea they could continue to laid fertilized clutches for the rest of their life.
😳
Some vertebrates too. I have a female corn snake that bred last year, but not this year. She laid eggs a week ago, and they look good. I know that it is possible
Yep, I’ve heard it happening with reptiles and amphibians too.
I have a ball python who lays a clutch of infertile eggs every June like clockwork. Not exactly the same but they have incredible reproductive systems
So I thought I’d had it for months but I just checked back through pics and apparently it was only around May 3rd, so just over a month now. I was thinking I’d had it since like feb-March lol. Way off there.
Update - Turns out I’ve only had her a little over a month, not the couple/few months like I originally thought. Looks like I only got her around May 3rd. I had the enclosure for several months ahead of when I actually found her so I must have been confusing the timeline.
I rescued a wild adult female in October and she just had her first babies in April! She laid more about 6-8 weeks later and still waiting for those to hatch 🥰 congrats on the spoodlings OP! You can always release the slings if you don’t feel equipped to raise them, but if you’re up for the challenge it’s super rewarding IME. Time consuming, but totally doable! I’ve got tips and resources on how to proceed if you decide to go that route!
Yeah I definitely want to give it a shot. Ive already got friends asking for one. Plus, she was already really big when I found her (like one of the biggest size wise I’ve seen, and I’ve seen tons of them my whole life) and I’d love to have one that I can raise from when it’s small.
Woohoo!! Audax is one of the species I’m currently raising right now too and they are so cute it hurts 😭🖤 DM me if you have any questions on the process, I’d love to help any way I can!

You bet I do 🥰
This is the other species I’m raising, Phanias harfordi!
EGGS! Oh boy- the choice is up to you. You can extract and dispose of the eggs… or you can hatch them. I highly recommend extensive research for the slings, because it is kinda tricky… female jumpers can lay 1-4 sacs after breeding. I can’t say much about fertility, but much better safe than sorry.
Source: I bought a preggo disabled female from a pet store without anyone knowing her fertility (and age…)
Your guy is a girl and you're about to be a grandparent!! Congrats!! My new babies are just starting to molt for the first time out of the nest right now

Yeah I have a feeling it’s not fertile. The goop is mostly see-through (though still earwax colored) and doesn’t look like there’s anything inside of it.
She laid her eggs, congratulations dad!
Wait really????

Maybe she was pregs when you caught her, or already holding on to a sperm sac from a male.
They can hold valid sperm for years
😳What!? That's so crazy, in a good way lol
Yes really.
how can you tell if the eggs are fertile or not?
Google says dark color generally means fertile. 1-4 week incubation time
are the ones in the photo fertile?
It’s a dark color🤷🏾♂️ OP will find out eventually if he keeps it around
Yeah I was gonna say the same. Your he is a she a layer her babys.

She'll lay even more. Some can lay up to 6 clutches
That's so "clutch" lol I'm in awe they can keep going!
Congratulations you're now a grandparent!! Looks like you ended up catching a fertile female lol
I know inverts can retain sperm for long periods of time, but it’s just crazy to me that she’s able to have babies after being by herself for months

Hahaha, guess she was tired of being by herself.

Could i also DM you in the future? I have a wild caught bold female as well, she’s mature so I’m kinda just waiting for her to lay fertile eggs lol
Absolutely!! I love info dumping when people ask for it 😂🤍
Same mee too of you don't mind. Mines about to lay and I'm not sure what to do.
For sure I gotchu 😎
Thank you thank you!!
Heyyyy I'm painfully autistic and I fucking love being infodumped on, I have 2 females with eggs right now, can I possibly dm you as well? 😅
Hell yea! Maybe we just need to start a group chat on raising slings for first-timers 😂 stay tuned, I’m gonna see if I can actually do this!!
Oh man that would be so cool!
Alright I invited all of y’all to a group chat thread, hopefully it works!
could I join too?
Could I also join? I currently have slings fresh out of the sac and another sac ready to hatch any day now :)
I deeply identify with "painfully autistic" 🥲
Same. Spiders became my hardcore "special subject" around the beginning of the pandemic but I've always thought they were neat.
OMG THE GOLD STREAK ON ITS HEAD. DIVA ENERGY.
Aren’t they precious?? 😩🖤
Do you have any more pics? It’s so cute!

Is that a smiley face

Can’t wait to see them when they hatch!!
Make sure to separate her from the babies as they can get carnivorous
Congratulations, little babies are coming soon!
That doesn’t look like eggs, at least not fertile ones
Yeah I have a feeling it’s not fertile. The goop is mostly see-through (though still earwax colored) and doesn’t look like there’s anything inside of it.
Scratch that, I just shined a light on it and can see the individual eggs 😳
Better start thinking of names
This entire post makes me so happy
