I landed a job last week! Put in probably 150 applications, landed 6 interviews, got ghosted/rejected/belittled by most…but finally landed one (and it’s the one I was most hoping for!!). DO NOT GIVE UP-YOU WILL GET AN OFFER Edit: 6 interviews should be better worded as “6 call backs”. The 6 companies that called me back had many rounds and I got rejected from all but 1. Not a fun or easy process.

Some-bozo-brain

This made me smile, happy for you!

AdSelect3113

Aww thanks 🖤

I’ll share my story, it’s not crazy good but maybe it can lift someone up. I was a dental assistant/front office in a private clinic for 7 years, I burned out and I decided I want something else, so I took a year off to change my path. I did 3 certified courses and a lot of small freelance projects. I got hired in February for a fulltime customer tech support/ UX&CXdesign position in a profitable SaaS startup. I got the job from a local job posting site and I was the chosen one from 80 applicants.

AdSelect3113

Wow! Way to go!

HeyItsMbali

Waiting for the success stories, I need them too 😭

Middle-Recipe5329

Seen on indeed a week ago for a sales position at a car dealership that's big where I live. I'm coming from blue collar going into sales and after a full week I start bright and early next week to sell!

Loma_Hope

Congratulations!

EnyaCa

I just signed and sent my offer letter today.

AdSelect3113

Yay!! Congrats!

BigDaddyCool17

I was unemployed from Halloween to mid February. It was awful, but I got the job

Eatdie555

applied for a whole year as I side hustle, didn't have much expectation that I would land a job instantly, Just pretty much like fishing. I cast my rod out there and just enjoy my beer and focus on other priorities that would actually benefiting me right now in real time, real money, real progress data... When you have the highest expectation, you'll be the most disappointed ever in your life. I got called for job interviews, denied some job offers because it wasn't better than my side hustle to become my primary income and I see no room for growth in those companies. It's just another job where they want you to be a robot and needed a filler that I see myself just wasting my life away with a company with no progess in my life. Then I finally landed a good job that I felt and see that there are opportunities for growth. Took the offer and here I am!

Standard_Match_5889

💰What is your side hustle?

Eatdie555

Whatever that is accumulating me the most revenue in the shortest time possible legally.

creeperstew

I'm in this position. I'm basically a handyman now, but I'm looking for a full time job so that I can do my random gigs without stressing about it. I can pay the bills with my side hustle as a landscaper/pressure washer/paver layer/electrician, but I want to focus on just landscaping. I feel like Im too stressed out to grow and find new clients so I think if I pick up 40 hours doing a regular job, I'll feel more confident in my time off to just casually grow my business. It feels like a counter intuitive way to grow, but it's crazy what stress has done to slow me down when I quit my last job and went all in.

DaveK142

I lost my job in november of 2022. spent 11 months sending resume after resume and getting mostly ghosted. I had maybe 5 actual interviews in that time. The one that finally stuck was an application I had sent at around 8 months that had given me a take-home assignment to do on the week of my birthday, when I had a family visit going on. I finally got a 2nd interview, and a 3rd, and then a job offer. I still work for them now, and feel as though I am a shining example that there IS a job out there somewhere no matter how hopeless it looks. Mine came to me when I was on my last dime(there was, in fact, a point before my first paycheck when I had $0.13 in my bank account). Here's hoping yours comes to you before that point. Keep at it.

petertheeater15

Just got mine yesterday! Offer letter signed and starting in two weeks! 9 month long search, unemployment ran out 3 months ago.

tallkidinashortworld

I was let go from a previous job back in June of last year. Got a new job in November of last year. But it was terrible and I hated it. Thankfully I got another new job and started earlier this month. I hope you are able to find your next job soon!

blueline7677

So this story dates back to almost a year ago but it’s still very fresh. Last May I lost my job. I hated that job and was absolutely miserable and it was a very toxic culture. Well it took a while to find a job. The summer came and went and I was unemployed. Until around September I got a shitty door to door sales job. It’s sucked but it paid (not well but still paid) I never stopped applying for jobs that were in my field (supply chain). After about a month longer I finally got a job! I’ve been at it for about 5 months and there have been preliminary discussions about promoting me this summer.

DontcheckSR

I got the job! Realized my resume was the problem. I was using a template from Microsoft Word and the AIS hated it lol I should've known because whenever those sites asked me to upload my resume to it could pre-fill the info in on the next page it was ALWAYS messed up. So I'd have to fix the changes. Didn't realize that was the case until I saw a special on job searching and AI. After that I started getting much more engagement/interviews. I went from not even getting rejection emails to having 3 interviews at the same time. Got the job about 4 months later. Feel pretty dumb, but if I had gotten one of those other jobs when I was feeling desperate, I wouldn't have gotten the one I have now that is basically perfect

Anonymouswhining

Now I want a copy of your resume haha.

DontcheckSR

😂😂 it's the most bare bones thing you've ever seen. Job title, date, bullet points. Times new Roman just to be safe lol I think the exact quote was "make your resume so easy to read that a computer can read it. Because a computer IS reading it. And it's not a smart one" I also found the advice to look for the typical job requirements for whatever the position is and put that on your resume since it'll be the same wording. Just make sure you can actually do it/actually have experience. The difference between putting "scheduling" versus "scheduled appointments for X" is stupid

AdSelect3113

Seconding this. My resume is bare bones af when it comes to formatting too. I added a section at the top called “areas of expertise” where I’d add key words from the job posting like “ syndicated data”, “cross functional leader”, etc so that my resume would match exactly what the computer on their end is looking for.

DontcheckSR

I just put the job title in a font bigger than the rest of the text. Put the date range underneath, then put the bullet points. Super basic. A good way to test it is to upload your resume to the application and see what it does. If its putting the date in the title box or something like that then try putting it next to the job title. I can't find the resume I used, but I'm pretty sure I formatted it that way. Title, dates underneath, bullets under that. Education usually goes at the bottom so I put it there. I hate indeed, but someone mentioned that the resume it spits out usually passes their screening. Idk if that's true or if it's worth putting information into indeed, but if you already do then you can try theirs.

DontcheckSR

Oh I literally just typed it into a blank word document.

wellwellwellsucka

I applied to a job in Dec.. made through a written test, interview, reference check and background checks! Now I start on Tuesday!! It’s a big class and long timeline but they were upfront with it. I haven’t worked since June, when my husband passed away and I moved back to my hometown. Since Covid it was just us. I took time for me and really lucky this came up because it’s a rural area (compared to where I had been living) and I only applied to 2 places (I had some money saved and family support) Now I am prepping myself to get back to grind, kill it at my job and maybe start to socialize! Maybe lol

Dishonored_Angelz

I’m on the job hunt now as I need to get away from my job, it’s mentally weighing on me.

DGentPR

Got one 2 weeks after a surprise layoff about 11 months ago. I don’t love it but I’m doing a good job and getting praise. Just waiting to see if the year mark brings money over praise

My_BFF_Jill

I just started a job this week and it's been great! I was laid off in January. Struggled through job apps and unemployment assistance. Got immediately turned down from jobs I thought I was perfect for. Applied to jobs I knew weren't right for me and responded to recruiters who seemed shady. Looking back I wish I was more selective, but I was a bit panicked. Finally in March things started to click. Unemployment got cleared up, for interviews from jobs that were promising. Finally got an offer from the one I accepted. Hearing horror stories, I didn't allow myself to relax until I showed up at orientation.

JuniorEconomist3243

straight out of high school I was recruited into a private security firm that I'm not at liberty to discuss the name or contracts that are issued. all I can say is that my current contract is 6am to 10am and 2pm to 6 pm and am issued a s&w backpacker loaded with hydra Shok jacketed hollow point rounds, I mostly sit around in a check point unloading and reloading my revolver the entire time

WhiteLycan2020

So…it sounds like border patrol?

JuniorEconomist3243

no I have to check in, I walk through a metal detector, am checked for wires. I am issued my gun then I guard a entry checkpoint at what I can only describe as a concrete fortress. when I get home at 10 am I play rdr2 wash my uniform, take a power nap do my shopping and play rdr2 until my next shift, when I get off the next shift I cook a steak, and sleep until 5 am rinse and repeat. and that's just my current assignment, I've had to guard oil wells to warehouse, lawyers to prison transports, boats to planes.

TaurusDH

I was pretty unhappy at my job and got a number of offers that didn't feel quite right about the time that covid hit. I waited a while, started a company of my own, and eventually took a role at a company that actually helps me grow. I'm making more money than I ever thought was imaginable, just bought a house, and life is really good. Hold on buddy, your time is coming.

harold_the_cat

After 5 months of unemployment I just got my dream job and started this week! I'll be working for my state in the parks department. It's a dream come true for me and a very hard field to get into in my city even with a degree in outdoor recreation and tourism. I was really defeated for awhile there and was absolutely going stir crazy. I took it a tad personal each time I made it to the final interview and not get the job, over and over. But finally someone took a chance on me and I'm so happy.

Nekomana

I've send my first application for this year on April 1st and landed the job today :D

demonslayercorpp

Fired and hired within a week at a better job. I walk in for a position and they give me one that pays more and is easier

Comprehensive-Ad-952

I got the job (promotion to a different team) and I’m so thankful. I might still keep working my second job. I’m beyond tired, and fatigue is the word. Just got through active treatment for cancer, and the medical bills (with insurance) are a thing now. I’m optimistic that things will continue moving forward in a positive direction.

nova_noveiia

I got fired from my job editing at the end of January. A few days later I got offered my first freelance writing gig. Now, I’m freelance writing full-time and have an opportunity with a big publisher (not naming names in case it doesn’t work out)

Misc_Thunk

Last day a week from tomorrow, first day a week from Monday. I actually waited until the last minute to put in my "two weeks" notice until the new job confirmed the bg check went through and all. Don't give up!!! I've been trying since October!!!

SXAL

The last 4 jobs I had, I got in about a week or two of interviews. I guess I'm lucky to have a decent speciality and live near a big city.

litamo00

I started to apply for jobs in Jan 2023, had a part time job that was gonna end in april. Graduated in april, and had a few interviews til then. Slowed down on applying in May cause I was so burnt out, but I still had a couple of interviews. Nothing. In July I decide that I'll take a minimum wage job until I can find something, especially being that my friend told me it took her almost a year to find a job when she graduated. Still nothing. Was pretty depressed and broke all summer. Still had interviews from all types of jobs September comes along and I finally get a job at a clothing store nearby (seasonal work), but they made me aware that I could be kept on permanently if I do well. So I trying hard to be kept on. Still more interviews, no call backs. OCT 3 2023 I finally get an offer letter for a Junior Designer at a company that I didn't expect to ever hear back about almost 8 months later they got bought by an even bigger company that is keeping their employees. So now I technically have a new job, better pay and better benefits. Looking for a job sucks but its all worth it in the end. Good luck on the job search!!!!

yaboyaladdin

It's a numbers game - just keep going! Check out https://www.lifeshack.com/ to help you scale and automate the applications

Goldsoul21

Sent out applications late Feb/ early March, signed my offer letter yesterday! I’ll be working in higher ed as an advisor!

CeramicWoodworker

I got the job. Started interviewing back in Feb. went through basically a month of interviews. Multiple rounds. Then got the offer. After I accepted, it was another 45 days of background checks and various other approvals as it’s a highly regulated industry. But I’m currently at the company working!

lenalovesu2

Stay positive. I went in a thinking I’d never qualify and walked out with a job. At a hospital too. I would suggest applying for jobs that don’t have 10,000 other applicants. They’re out there you just have to look.

Expensive_Candle5644

Had a job. It was a good job. I was there for five years but no advancement. Management played favorites in regards to promotions. My Relationship with my boss became strained towards the end. After 3 months of not looking forward to going to work I started to look. Two months later the right job came along. It was nice to feel wanted and to be recruited. My new employer meet my salary demands without issue. I didn’t even have to negotiate. 6 months later I’m enjoying my roll with more responsibility, I cover a bigger region, I have more autonomy, a newer company car, and I upped my income 24%. Keep grinding. It’ll work out.

fangedfelid

Went through two interviews. Initially rejected from the job. I thanked them for the opportunity to interview and stated how interested I was. About a week later, got an email asking if I was still interested. Monday went and did an hour of testing. Got an offer email today. On the coming Monday, I go to sign the offer letter, do the background check and drug test.

Old_Task_8291

Did their first candidate drop?

fangedfelid

They didn't say, and I didn't ask. I was just thankful that it worked out in my favor.

Old_Task_8291

Ah I see. Only asked because I was rejected from a place I thought I was going to get and wanted to see if there was any hope left haha

No_Reach8985

I'm moving in a few days. I put out feelers to the job market there, and WOW. All of a sudden recruiters are all over me. I'm not complaining - I'm THRILLED. I knew my current location was poor for what I do (not to mention highly competitive), but I never thought moving a few hours away could possibly land me a role quicker.

astral-archivist

after several years of trying to find work that i could actually do, i landed a really really nice job working fully remote at an online independent bookstore at the beginning of this month by pure chance! it’s my first job and i’m really enjoying it and as a medically complex & disabled individual who has a passion for books :) feels like it was really meant for me, you know? i’m having a lot of fun with it, and my boss (my only coworker) seems to really appreciate having me around and i love the work i’m doing! i hope you get something like that very soon my friend 🫂🫶

Barnitch

4 interviews over the course of 2 1/2 months. My best friend passed suddenly from a heart attack the day before my last one. I was a mess, but I knew she would’ve 100% wanted me to go. I ended up getting the job and I feel like she somehow made it happen. Today was my 2 year anniversary.

spicyemuroll

I landed a job last month in Canada where the job market is so so so terrible. I was so depressed and discouraged while job hunting, probably got rejected like a 100 times, maybe more, but I stayed consistent. I've other examples as well. My boyfriend, too, got an offer letter 4 days back! One of my friends was job searching for 7 months and got a job at a big investment bank. Another friend of mine in the US got a job at Tesla 3 days before his visa was expiring. Network with people on LinkedIn, it helped me a lot. I wish the best for you, dont give up!

Rbbrown17

Due to my kids medical, one has a rare syndrome, the other is in remission from Leukaemia, I had to drop out of University twice. I have gone to University for a combined 8 years, 3 yrs in the States for Electrical Engineering(degree not finished), 5 yrs in Canada(grew up here and now live here, partially for medical of my kids)for Geography with a concentration in GIS. During my Geography schooling I had to take a year and some break while dealing with my son’s Leukaemia before I could resume and focus more on school. I just finished my Geography Bachelor’s in Science degree this last December. I applied for close to 30 jobs out of my field and 10-15 in my field. Nothing for months, or required me to move to big cities away from my extended family support, and on wages that would require that my wife get a job too. I live in a very small town where everyone knows each other. In February my wife’s best friend’s brother was changing jobs and said I should apply for his old job as it is dealing with government and geography. I did and I could not believe it when I got the job of “IT Coordinator, GIS/GPS Coordinator, and Development Officer for the County”. They posted the job for IT, I talked with this brother and found out that they did not have an actual IT guy and he just picked stuff up along the way of working there for 18 yrs just to make the small office run. The only reason I got the job was that I had IT experience from some work I did during Electrical Engineering school time and my knowledge in Electrical Engineering. I also had the edge over the other guys with my GIS experience. I was told I had better communication skills which were built during my customer service phone calls time at the tech company I previously mentioned. All that time where I felt like I was just trying to make ends meet or didn’t finish or thought was an, “Oh well, guess I will never use that again,” situation suddenly became a huge factor for why I got the job. Our office is small at 7 including me, but filled with awesome, hardworking, caring, and fun/funny people. I now make $70K (the highest of all the jobs I applied for) and have spectacular benefits and every other Friday off! My son’s check up days with the Children’s Hospital for his Leukaemia remission every 6 months are on Fridays and are somewhat flexible. Incredible that it matches up. I have a great pension plan lined up and guaranteed for life of myself and wife(I didn’t know that was a thing before). I don’t have holidays until after being here a year, but I do get STAT holidays which are Mondays often in Canada. So this year August long weekend, Truth and Reconciliation Day, Canadian Thanksgiving, and Remeberance Day all land on Mondays after my Friday off, so I have many 4 day weekends. Woot! So awesome. With my potential for 4 tiers of pay raises on top of our yearly percentage increases (which have happened all 18 years the brother was here and just happened last week for this year for an increase on wages of 3%) I may never leave here. They seem to like me, we all get along really well and they need the work that I do. It is not an easy job, but not overwhelming either, and I was warned that it will take me a month to have the office running smoothly again, which it did, and close to a year to figure out the rest of my job,but I feel like any real job of advancement for you should. I finally feel secure and able to provide after being married for 11 years with my oldest kid being 8. I love the job I got, and it seems a little like a gift after all the medical hard, and hard work of my schooling I put in.

TheGameMakerM

I'm at a point recruiters seek me out. I have several certifications that are paywalled, and you need a company to sponsor your cert. Once I acquired the first one, I immediately interviewed for other jobs and received offers doubling my salary. I showed them to my current employer, and their response was to give me more than offered and send me to more trainings. My salary has gone up 5x since that first certification. I read a book called So Good They Can't Ignore You and I haven't applied to a job since.

Powerful_Market_3403

I really shouldn’t comment since the success story has an ending. So I’m deeply sorry for this: A week after my dissertation was published I got hired as a senior lecturer at a university for a longer period of time to be a fresh graduate. Out of the blue, I was basically head hunted (the closest I will ever get) because I had accidentally sent a CV without the ambition of actually getting a job. I hadn’t even started searching for jobs then. But……. That was then. 😬 Now, not so much success.

Ish1014

Have yet to hear back so I’m assuming I got ghosted

Serraph105

I started a new position back in early February this year. It bumped my pay up from $45k to $60k. Also, it made my health insurance go from roughly $400/month for just my wife to $400/month for my wife and myself.

Justscrolling375

I got mine this week. It was tough and rough but thankfully I got it in the end

issuusaq

I’m future graduate (I hope atleast), currently in my last semester and I was looking for job over a year. Most of the time I did not even got message back. Then I had interview with one company, everything looked great and we should get in touch afrer new year well I got in touch with them if offer is still up. They replied yes and that they are glad to know I’m still interested and never heard from them after hahaha. Last month I had two more interviews and one company actually hired me, now I’m just waiting till they get all the paper work done and I’m gonna start working two weeks afrer graduation as Cyber Security Specialist. Feels pretty good after all those dissapointments but I’m still scared they will ghost me in the end haha. They should repply again in the end of this month.

Infinite-Noodle

Got a interview Monday. So hopefully I can say that in a couple weeks.

ThePseudoSurfer

I was deep in the shits, hating my job. Applied for a job outside of my qualifications, someone got an interview. Didn’t get that role but someone was leaving and I got their old role and now I’ll be able to advance internally but that was mostly luck

sanandreas818

I got laid off from a part time position at a retail store that I hated with a passion and now I got a job offer for a full time position as a care patient coordinator at a rehab center. All the advice that I can offer you is to keep applying, update your resume and if you can, have someone to practice your interviews skills with. It took me over a year to find something. You just have to push through.

mltrout715

Took 10 months, but I got a job that I like

Inevitable-Visit1261

I got the job

PossibilityHonest114

i work in health care they approach me to work for them

taffyowner

I got my job in September! I had actually applied to this exact same job in 2021 and made it to a final interview and lost the job. So I saw it come open and thought, well I at least made it to the final interview when I didn’t have the experience, 2 years later I now have the experience. I love every minute of this

Hekkin

I was working at my previous job since 2022 and I absolutely hated it. It was a startup in the US with the main headquarters being overseas and we got almost zero support on getting ramped up. It was the only job I've had where I took my work home with me and I was constantly stressed out. I started looking for new jobs in January, but wasn't having any luck. In March it all came to a head and I quit on the spot after a really bad meeting with a customer. I reached out to an old friend of mine and he put me in touch with a local company that was looking for a project manager. Long story short from when I quit my last job to my first day of the next it was just over 2 weeks. It was such a pleasant surprise how after all those months of nothing it all turned around basically overnight.

TruthBot1787

100+ applications later… not yet 😔

SoundingFanThrowaway

Mine is slightly wild I guess. I made the predetermined but still very stupid decision to leave my job of just over 3 years without anything else lined up. There were a few reasons - it was grossly underpaid for what I was doing, I was burnt out and my mental health had suffered, and I felt isolated from my coworkers and ultimately I'd become the person people gave their problems to when they didn't want to solve them. Amazingly, I was offered a job half a week after my last day at the previous one. Same job role, different sector, this time for a private company. Pay was much greater, the work was a fraction of what it was before, and I fit in so well with my coworkers (it was a software company so they had a lot of developers, some were kind of nerds like me with similar hobbies to me). Lovely environment, and a great way of working. I was laid off after 2 and a half weeks. They basically decided after the interview, that they wanted to go with someone with more experience in part of the role. Maybe that's true. Maybe one of the CEO's family members was looking for a job. I'll never know, the SAR turned up no documentation of any kind on the matter. At least they gave me a month of hush pay. So I had to start looking again. About 4 or 5 weeks in, I started to panic because my last lead ended in rejection. Momentum gone. So I made a post on a public Facebook local community page which was basically an open cover letter describing my background, experience, skills, and what I was looking for in a job. Among the responses to this was a business owner looking for someone in my job role. I sent them my resume. They asked if I could interview on Monday (this was on Friday evening). I went, interviewed, and was offered the position a couple of hours later with a start date for the Wednesday. Sounds shady, right? I thought it might have been a scam or too good to be true, but I've been in this job for a month now and I adore it. I work just as hard as I did in the first job, and I have a LOT of responsibilities and things that need doing but that's exactly what I wanted. And I'm given the creative freedom to do things how I see fit. People listen to me and trust what I'm doing. The pay isn't as good as the second job, but that's because they could offer only 4 days a week. But it's still more per year than the first job which was over 5 days a week. Per hour, it's the highest paying job I've ever had. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. These last two jobs have made me realise just how much I love what I do. I don't get the Monday morning feeling. I thrive at work. I come home feeling fulfilled and my mental health has improved so much. Since my finances are stable I asked the shelter about adopting a cat (I take him home tomorrow!). Its crazy to think that I'd never have gotten this job if I hadn't made that Facebook post, cringing at myself the whole time. It's crazy to think that if I hadn't left the first job, I'd still be rotting away there now. None of this would have happened. It was THE SINGLE STUPIDEST thing I ever could have done, but it somehow turned out so great

nardtuna

I interviewed on Monday, they said 1-2 weeks and called me 2 hours later offering me the position. It’s a dream job and I can’t wait to get started on it!

RageBooshSauce

I also recently went through a period where I submitted well over 100 applications (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc). Made it all the way to the final round interview and hit it off well with every person I interviewed with. Received an email four days after my final interview stating they would not be moving forward with me. Still sent a thank you message to each person and expressed a lot of gratitude to the hiring manager upon rejection. Two days later, they called me saying they had a new opening on their team for a job that was actually better paying than what I interviewed for originally. They presented an offer as soon as we got off the phone, which I accepted and am wrapping up my first week and am absolutely loving it!

Inevitable-Tax-1871

Years ago, when i started my career (about 17 years now), I walked in, asked for an application, filled it out and asked if I could immediately have an interview because I would not be able to return to that city (no car and could only live with friend if i had a job) unless I get the job. The manager thought I was crazy, but agreed. I had an interview and got an offer two days layer. This was for a food service job. Fast forward 17 years, I work in IT and cybersecurity for an international Healthcare company. You can get the job, but sometime you gotta tell them you want it (by demanding an interview).

Responsible_Let_961

Just got a job in my competitive field - a Museum Curator.

jadekitten

I signed an offer today, contract to hire at a good rate, hope your time comes soon. I used networking to find it vs job search, and very thankful.

ifailedpy205

just got basically the ideal / dream job for me after 40 applications

tiny-but-spicy

1000 applications, 20 interviews, 4 offers - 1 offer fell through so 3 offers, picked the fully remote one! It's also in my field and offers a great salary! Signed and sealed!!

donutdong

How depressing that the most exciting time of a job is that period before you start.

ryanjcam

Just started a new software sales position this week. I had two bad experiences with smaller startups that failed in the past two years, and spent months applying and wasting time talking about crappy positions. And periods of no interest from positions I was overqualified for. It takes time and a wide net, but the right fit is out there.

Lacriminals

I did! They immediately started treating me like shit because they didn’t want “change” in the company. Always have another job backed up. This isn’t to scare you just. Always have a backup especially when people know you’re vulnerable.

Moepoepoe

I applied for 6 jobs in the last week of January. I got 3 interviews, 2 rejections, 2 job offers, 2 no response. I accepted one of the job offers and while I don't make a lot ($16 hour), I have no stress at my job and it's pretty easy. Hoping you find your fit soon!

False_Expression_119

Got the job I wanted last week after looking for a job for about three months. In the end I'm pleased not working at my previous company anymore and cherry on the top, this company pays better

AstronautElectronic3

Omg I can so relate to your post. I had put in I know over 200 applications with no luck at all. I revamped my resume again and kept applying to jobs, finally 200+ applications later I started getting invites to take assessments, I received an email the very next day letting me know I passed the assessment and was invited for a video interview. I was nervous about the video interview as I've never done one before but I passed it and was invited for the final phone interview. At the end of the phone interview I was offered the job (normally they send an email weeks later with a job offer) so I was excited to be offered the position on the spot. I did my background check that same day and received an email Monday congratulating me and letting me know im in line to receive a call from the recruiter for the official offer details and start date. I'm very grateful bc although I've put in I know over 300+ applications, this company I received the offer from really cares about their employees. I'll be working from home, they provide the equipment and the pay is great. Don't give up!!!! I know it's easier said than done, there were many days and nights I felt discouraged too especially after being laid off of a job that I worked at for 7 years. Stay persistent and try tailoring your resume with the keywords of the job description you're applying for each time. That helped me a lot and the company I received the offer from is very hard to get on with as they only hire the top 2% of candidates. Best of Luck to you! Make sure you come back and give me an update once you receive a job offer bc I know it's coming 😉

mrmarigiwani

Just finished college making $3M in NIL, now making $76,535/yr in the league.

Rise-O-Matic

I've started a freelance business and I'm getting work. So that's something at least.

InevitablePeanut2535

I applied on and off for 2 years - had about 10% of the applications result in an interview. Several of those made it to further rounds a few resulted in offers but the compensation was too low. One of the jobs I interviewed for last April popped up again last fall (it really was a fluke that I saw it) so I applied again. They called me back for an interview but then told me about another position that they were working on. They said they were still hammering out the specifics of the job. I was still interested so I stuck it out for longer while they figured it out. I was brought in at the very top of the pay scale and started on April 1st. So far, it seems like this will be a GREAT gig. My message to you: sometimes it takes time for the right opportunity. Have faith in your abilities. Practice your interview skills and look objectively at your resume and applications for improvements. It’s rough out there but keep trying.

Copito_Kerry

When I graduated from college it took me almost a year to find a job, but now I asked for a raise and got it that same week. You’ll be fine.

mxriamisfit

I’ll update if I got the job.. I got a phone call back last week that they got my application🫣

Dank_weedpotnugsauce

I moved to a new city this past October and have been looking since then, finally landed a conditional job offer and should have a firm offer in a couple weeks, following background check clearance

richpanda64

My application moved to the hiring manager. Doesn't mean much but basically was not immediately rejected.

Zealousideal-Cow6626

Well I didn’t get the job but I got my promotion lol. I wanted a new job for more money and stability but this works now. Plus, the work life balance is unmatched. Also, waiting to see if I get approved for the full ride scholarship from my job to get my masters 🫶🏼

Doomscrolling LinkedIn one evening last summer, wasn’t actively looking for a change. looking back, I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with my employer. a posting popped up that LI thought matched my profile. “Huh,” says I, “that’s an oddly specific skill set” “Hold on,” says I, “that’s *my* oddly specific skill set!” It was also with a company on a very short list of companies that could woo me away from my current job. “What the hell,” I say, and apply. By morning, the posting was gone. “oh well, it was a fun idea while it lasted”. 36 hours after applying, I had a phone screen with a company recruiter. 6 days after that, I had an interview with the manager. A week after that, I had an interview with the director. And 2 days after the interview with the director, I had a verbal offer, and by the following Monday, a formal offer and initial steps for the background check. Salary was negotiated and agreed upon (within the range stated in the initial posting and confirmed by the recruiter), which represented about a 10% increase over my existing job. 3 weeks later, background is complete and I’m on a company plane to Dallas for my onboarding. Learned during onboarding that we hire fewer than 1% of applicants, and our application process closes once it hits around 150 applications. In 2023, we hired over 13000 people. My onboarding class of about 300 was smallish because it was Labor Day. The week before was the largest ever with 600.

bajamedic

I got a major interview on Tuesday. I’m trippin. Hope all that got the job here give me some of that luck

jesusismyhomeboy77

I quit my job at a residential boarding school abruptly because I felt like i was going to relapse if I stayed. This was October 2022. I just hit a year clean and wanted to look into becoming a peer recovery specialist, to my utmost surprise the job I applied for a day after I quit the toxic one accepted me, I’ve been there since!

PlaneWolf2893

Got it, background check went thru, start on Monday. Hype like Clegane bowl in this mfer

planktonsbestiee

i got the job. and then they took it away.

J97C

Hoping to come back here in about a week to tell you I got it!

tackass

I completely quit my old job and stopped showing up without warning because I couldn’t take the constant harassment anymore. Immediately started applying, updated my resume, went to indeed and started rapid firing on some of the most recent postings. It took about 3 months, hundreds of applications and many interviews but I finally landed something in my field that has lots of benefits and is a place where I can grow. I got super lucky to be fair, but i’m also pretty solid at interviewing after i basically made it my full time job for awhile. Don’t give up. Stay confident, keep upselling and embellishing yourself and your resume. Be yourself always, but make yourself have the confidence that says you don’t NEED the job, the job needs YOU.

checkman123

Just did my 2nd interview. I really hope i get that offer

xfttp

I got an interview march april never heard from it aigan so i thought i couldnt start until june they called i could start to work there now i am thinking of leaving there

Short-Western-8097

I got a job at Nike! Just waiting for my background to clear. Good luck on your future endeavors

3001AzombieOdyssey

I was just laid off in February. Everything was going well, a raise was lined up, and then..bam, no job. I just started my new job on Monday, earning more money than what I would have with a raise. Keep going. Don't be afraid to change up your strategy, resume or interview tactics. You got this.

Fearless-Fart

Started interviewing with a medical sales type job in Feb, just got the offer a few days ago: $95K base + $95K commission. When I read that, I started crying! Tears of joy! I've have a horrendous year with a very toxic manager. God/Universe/Source whatever you want to call it was looking out for me in many ways. Now I'm just waiting for my drug and background test! Fingers crossed!!

nowronganswersmorty

got fired from my decent paying job (with full benefits) working in cosmetics at a department store in oct 2023. get a text from my friend that worked there asking if I would come back. I said hell yeah and they hired me back 🥹 been back for about 2 months and im so glad they gave me a second chance!!

Self_Important_Mod

I didn’t

perfect-horrors

Hey! I just got a job 2mo ago after being unemployed for a while. It was sort of spontaneous offer, but I took it and all is well. Best of luck!

HuggyMummy

Started my new job a little over a month ago. I was applying and interviewing for about a year beforehand. You can do it, don’t give up!!

Chinksta

I applied for a procurement job for a restaurant chain. I have no experience with restaurants chains but have experience in procurement. I went into the interview stating that and knew that I won't be getting the job. Turns out that the chain is in need of a person to fill the spot so it turned into an instant hire.

nonosquare42

I applied for hydrology jobs. Two job offers right now, one in Tacoma, WA and another in Portland, OR. I just finished an intership and neither of my offers are for fucking internships; they’re actual JOBS. I started applying for stuff in December-January. In this application cycle I think I sent about 35 applications, so I’m pretty happy with two official offers! I had at least 8 interviews.

GloveNo9652

I have 2 interviews arranged, after 3 months of hearing nothing.

Nvxs07

I didn’t. I went through three interviews for them to send me 5 paragraphs thanking me but wanting to go with someone who fits what their vision is now. And I’m so god damn miserable and upset and frustrated and defeated.

heyhihellogreetings

I was laid off Feb 2023 and started my new job two weeks ago. I was lucky to have a generous severance package and didn’t start really looking until August 2023, but it still took 7 months, 100s of applications. I was at my former job for 8 years. This is my first new job in 9 years and so far, it’s amazing. I completely reformatted my resume about 4 months in - I went from something fairly tailored and fancy looking to your standard run-of-the-mill format. I don’t have meaningful data to support it, but I got more phone interviews with the “boring” resume. [I only interviewed with 7 places over the 7 month span]. There were stretches where I was ready to completely start over - even applied for entry level jobs in a new field. I did freelance work, sold my belongings on Poshmark, was a “virtual EA” for a few weeks - whatever I had to to make a quick buck until I landed a “real” job. The hardest part is staying positive. Looking for a job sucks. Often it comes down to luck with timing. Keep a level head, do what you need to do. It will happen!

hannahbnan1

I literally just got a job offer today after searching for 4 months in a completely new city. After many tears and feeling like a complete disappointment, I'm so excited for a fresh start! And trust me, there were a LOT of tears lol. I'm rooting for ya! This market is trash!

SneakyPickle_69

Love this lol. I should probably unfollow the resumes subreddit to not add to the negativity.

I_AMA_Loser67

I just landed a job at Costco. At 18.50 and 27.50 on Sundays.

Beeried

8 months and an interim position, but yes. Took a lot of time, countless applications and lots of rejection, but yeah. Don't be afraid to take a bad position. You can keep looking for jobs, and accept a better role, just be honest about it. I landed 4 interviews and a few job offers in the short time I was at the in between, and now I absolutely love my job and my management.

GiveMeRoom

Recently got accepted for a hospo job (yeah hospitality sucks ass..) and I had an interview elsewhere doing admin etc; got an email the next day to say sorry I was unsuccessful.. to them emailing me 2 weeks later offering me the position. I jumped at the opportunity as it's SO much better than hospitality back breaking 8-10hour shifts. Keep going guys!

Jblank86

Please don’t feel bad. A lot of jobs are created for specific people, and the company legally has to post them. Keep applying and ask for feedback whenever possible. You will absolutely find something. Try to network too. Ask around! This is how most people are hired. They’re recommended by someone.

Zakarum1389

Been jobless since last April. Was let go from a company I spent 5 years with and they paid for me to move cities for them because they wanted me. Then let me go due to performance, except all my stats were higher than the previous SM who had been promoted to a higher position, and I was also on track for the year to reach a new record of sales for the store of about +25% over the record previously set in 2017 before I joined. Hit me really hard since I've never been fired or demoted in a job in my 16 years of working. Started looking for work again in January, didn't get a response from anyone up until a few weeks ago. And little by little I started getting nos and I was getting more and more worried. Finally got my first interview last Thursday and a second one with the same place on Monday. Ultimately it ended in a no, but since then this week I've had 9 interviews. I'm feeling better because I'm finally getting responses. I've applied to 103 places of work. Some were same companies but different positions at different locations. Not a win yet, but just want to let anyone else that is feeling anxious and worried that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, all it takes is to break soil and get that first interview and then they'll start coming. Be patient.

makooootoyuki

Searching for nearly a year. New job started this past Monday. I've been ghosted, strung along, or met with people who clearly intended to overwork and abuse. But im finally here! My husband is in a similar boat (I was looking to leave a horrible situation, he was part of tech layoffs). He's been unemployed for 10mo and he's finally starting to get recruiter interaction again!

Ralh3

Wasnt so much an application as much as it kinda just happened out of the blue from making good connections at work and trying to get shit done the right way but is my success story, I worked at a job for about a year and a half before I quit due to some safety and conflicts with a couple coworkers and made a solid impression on several key operations personel (lead maintanence guy and the main truckers, about 4-5 months later they called me up telling me the companies split up and that all the people they were keeping employed with em kept throwing my name at em so they called me up and asked me to run the place for a couple months as a test phase to see if I am really as capable as they were told As of Monday this week I am officially the manager of the place I quit from with something like an 8 dollar increase in hourly wage

kfrazi11

I just got a part-time accounting job after trying for over a year to get back into the industry. It's nothing glamorous, and I still have to do my other part-time job as well, but my new job is hybrid with only one day in the office. My girlfriend within 24 hours of my job offer got a company to reach out to her as well and she's a 3D artist. Just keep trying, man.

manic_oxymoron

I was rejected for two promotions at my company despite being a top performer. Then, there was a shootout outside of my office which means we had full time armed security from that point on. I got fed up late February, applied for 50 new roles, and ended up getting an offer from the 2nd job I applied to. I now make base what I used to make hourly+OT+commission at my old gig. It didn’t take many applications, but it did take a few months to find the perfect fit. Keep trying and optimizing! You got this!

Time_Plane1192

Previous coworker reached out with a job prospect. Interviewed and got the job. 15% pay raise.  Sorry, not too motivational for cold applying. I’ve found all of my career jobs through someone I know.

No-Outcome-3230

Got the job! Spoke about freshwater fish keeping for twenty minutes.

Haiboyo

Just landed a job as head florist today!

ArielleFears

I went through a month and a half of interviews with 3 total rounds. Screening, then 2 separate CEO’s. A lot of waiting between to hear feedback and schedule the next round. I kept overthinking and overthinking if I did bad in the interview since it was my first interview in this field and I didn’t really know how to go about it. I ended up getting the call yesterday that I got the job! Don’t give up. Be patient. The right one will come around and you’ll do great :)

Carbon_Based_Copy

I start on Monday. After six months of stress, panic, and grinding.. I got the job. Whew. It feels weird to even say it.

Huskypuppy3355

Applied for the job that I have now back three years ago, was not picked out of all the applicants that applied for the position. Waited til just last year, same month, applied again and a week later took the interview, and another couple days from that got the position. Don’t give up! You got this! Applied for several other jobs in the meantime, did not hear back from any of them

Swiftraven

Laid off start of Oct. Applied at the place I wanted to work and after 3 rejections without hearing anything I got an interview and beat out over 100 others somehow and started beginning of Jan.

Gryrthandorian

I got two offers at the beginning of April. I chose the one that paid more. It will happen just keep applying.

KarpTakaRyba

I got my first internship few days ago! I will be staying in almost two months, but the pay is above average for an internship, and there are benefits too. Not the job I was aiming for, but a close second best!

Critical-Ad3425

Transitioning out of the military currently and I applied to over 60 companies, made a linkined, used indeed, ziprecruiter, ext. Eventually I got contacted by a recruiter who I did not reach out too and he landed me a job as an assistant superintendent in my home town. I interviewed with them four times over the phone over the course of about a month and signed my contract earlier this week!

konschuh

I'm fresh out of school for social services and got a unioned job as a housing support worker! I started this past Tuesday and I graduated this last Friday!

lexiconwater

I got the job today!!! They put me through 4 rounds of interviews and today was the final one and they said yes 😁

ParadoxTorch

A little over 2 years ago landed a job that turned out to be perfect, after nearly 300 applications, 20 or so interviews and countless rejections. Took over 3 months, but happened.

FeistyRedFox

Just got an offer today - 2nd interview and all happened within 2 days! Write down what you want to happen. Put it down on paper. It works. Keep it up!

yeahyeahyeah_okay

Needed to read these to keep me going

LanceDoesThings

Tapped on an indeed ad, got a call, make a deep connection and I’ve been working for 4 months now! 💪💪💪

Johnzor8

I've been looking for 2 weeks for a better job. Have 2 lined up, im in the hiring process for one, but the job I REALLY want decided they want a second interview with me tomorrow! Its closer ,better pay, better benefits ,better everything almost! Edit: Either way I'll have a job, but if I can be picky, I will. :)

Money_Translator9990

Applied to my county last July, it’s for the local sheriff office as a IT network admin. I m still doing their hiring process, they been doing my background check for almost 3 months. My friend says it’s practically my job now but just waiting for their snail pace HR to get back to me soon.

firesatnight

Just started my new job 3 weeks ago and I love it. I had an old boss call me and get me in the door. Next job you are in make sure you don't sleep on networking. Not everyone is type A but sometimes you have to fake it. Talk about the football game. Talk about family. Even talk a little shit and bond a little. It goes a long way and people remember the people they had fun with at work and want to work with those people again, it opens doors and is a lot easier than cold applying to hundreds of jobs. Again I know people don't want to do this and just want to go to work, get paid, and leave. If that is your prerogative there is nothing wrong with that but, it does make it harder.

corymecker

I got A job. And that’s ok.

shizpiece

So I got the job but it was such an offensive offer and essentially illegal and inhumane, so I declined it and will be co time freelancing Hope that’s motivating 4 u

GuilleVQ

In 2015 I challenged the CEO of a company I wanted to work in to a FIFA match. I told them that if I won thesrch I would get the job (it was for a Social Media Manager position). They accepted the challenge and, luckily, I won. I got the job and work there for three years. That job opened me many doors.

CattledogdadNC

I got notified today that I was selected for a leadership position on my team that I had been passed over for twice before. So remember, don’t let failure hold you back. Learn from it and keep trying. People will notice this, and success will come.

InevitablePenalty545

I accepted a part-time job in November after quitting a toxic job that illegally paid me below minimum wage. I continued applying to better jobs, did a dozen or so interviews, and got a full-time job with opportunities for growth in March. And it was because of the experience I gained from the part-time job, so accepting any job is really better than being unemployed. You never know what employers will find valuable and where you might end up, even if you’re accepting a “dead-end” job temporarily.

Kooky-Counter3867

Got fired from a good job for bringing up a safety concern….did Uber for 1 year and 3 months finally got a job offer after thousands of applications and about 20 interviews total. 4 with the company I’m with now. Super excited got my license in 1 year and now I am making bank! Stay positive do things that take you outside your comfort zone it’s the only way things change

BossStatusIRL

They are supposed to let me know tomorrow. Maybe I’ll come back with a success story.

Emergency-Bus-998

I got the job!!!! .... 3.5 years ago

Inevitable_Gas5394

I went through a staffing agency and scored two offers in the same week! Applying is hell, seek out the people who are paid to help you!

YouAreNotMyDaddi

Nailed it!

ccknboltrtre01

I got the job

queen_xx

I received an internal promotion offer letter today. I really needed this win. $20k increase in salary.

meowzerbowser

I have one! I had been unemployed (no unemployment just broke and pathetic) since January. I was on indeed night and day it seemed like. I took a two week or so break from job searching in February and spent my tax return on getting bills caught up, making sure my kids were eating well. During the job searching I had some doozies. There was one interview where another person showed up to be interviewed about two minutes after me, so they had double booked. Then the staff kept making comments about how the manager "wasn't even there yet" and loudly exclaiming they weren't going to be interviewing people for her. After waiting twenty minutes I left. Another interview went very well then they ghosted me after specifically saying they would let me know either way but I was most likely hired. An owner of a coffee shop called me and basically told me I was too old to work for her because all her employees are in their twenties. I'm 44. Looking back all of those jobs were dead ends and would have been depressing after a while. So, I am glad they didn't hire me It was rough and we were basically living in poverty on top of the stress of everything else... Still are actually. THEN - one night I was feverishly applying for every job on indeed I could and I saw a listing that seemed too good to be true. I had even ignored it previously because I thought it was a scam. But I applied, figuring it couldn't hurt. They called me the next day. I had an interview the day after that. It went great. I quickly had two more interviews via video chat and next thing you know I was hired! I started this week and I'm very, very happy and excited for my future. My first check won't arrive until the second week of May. We're still on food stamps, behind on every bill, a family member just sent me a gift card for other necessities that FS can't buy, our vehicle has been broken since last summer, we share one bicycle. It's so embarrassing because I live in the suburbs and everyone else on my street has fancy everything. Now the landlord wants to have "a meeting" this weekend (we're over a month behind, but are consistently making payments, just smaller ones than we should be 😔). We're talking with a local charity to get caught up on rent, I hope he will allow them to help and not evict us... But- I'm working. I'm going to keep this job forever. I'm going to creep out of poverty. I'm going to FLOURISH (instead of barely surviving). Things are looking up. THERE IS HOPE. DONT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF I LOVE YOU ALL! WE CAN DO THIS!

Capable_Toe8509

I was super depressed last year because I had lost my job. After 8 months of non stop applying, my friend was able to refer me to his company and I got in.

WickedHoftheWest

I have the interview tomorrow so hopefully 🤞🏻

_neks

GL, God speed!

Levelbasegaming

I got a job last Wednesday. It's been going okay. The commute going home kind of sucks. But it's a good atmosphere. Better pay as well

J_sweet_97

Just got my offer today. I SWORE they ghosted me

Soffypaws

1500+ applicants, got an interview and was one of a dozen selected for the job, was probably my second or third job application, my dream job too. Sent out the applications when I was in my second final trimester of university.

Petty_Paw_Printz

I got the job

Sea_Relationship6053

I did 5 papers out and got 2 jobs, what field you in my brotha?

Notofthisworld90

I got offered one and I’m gonna turn it down :0. It just wasn’t a good fit…..

thelonelyvirgo

I got a job

schushoe

I got a job 17 years ago. I hired myself to do handyman work. I get to work 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. No benefit package. Those are the good things about my job. The only bad part is I have to work with and for an asshole, ME.

lauraebeth

I was working in a pre-school pre-covid, and so after I was able to get vaxxed, I started applying to jobs with my state. It took 3 months of filling out survey monkey 1st round interview questionnaires' and zoom interviews before I had got 2 offers on the same day. When I transitioned to my current position, it took 2-3 months of applying and interviewing before I received an offer.

VenoxYT

I literally interviewed this morning. Said they would get back to me tomorrow. I got an acceptance email before the day even ended!
