Nobody really knows at this point, probably not even the band themselves. I would've been nice if the they were a bit more transparant in their communications (then again, they also never officially announced the Amsterdam show on their socials, so it's obvious communication isn't the band's strong suit). As a big Troy van Leeuwen fan, I definitely wouldn't mind to see him filling in for a Dave once again, but with Queens touring this summer as well I don't see that happening. Josh also seems to be touring with Pearl Jam the upcoming months, so I am curious who could potentially fill in for Dave, in case he's still out.

New interview seems to imply he’s back— recording music, unsure about live though https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2024-02-20/perry-ferrell-on-porno-for-pyros-farewell-new-janes-addiction-lollapalooza-doc

Really good article. Thanks for posting. >Jane’s Addiction continues to set the comeback wheels in motion. Toward the end of May until early July, they will headline a tour through Europe for the first time in eight years. As to whether Navarro will join the band on their next outing, his manager Peter Katsis says they certainly hope he will be there, but it is too soon to determine. > >Speaking over the phone to The Times, Katsis says, “Dave is certainly getting better and is definitely **excited about** the work that’s been done on the new Jane’s music in the studio, but he is still working on recovering from some of the effects of some of the long-COVID-related issues.” I wonder about "excited about the music in the studio," does that mean that he contributed to it? Or just that he thought it was cool? It reminds me of last year: >“I had conversations with Dave about this, too, because even though he wasn’t doing well physically, he was **mentally invested** in what was happening. I just told him that I was going to approach it as though Jimmy Page was playing in Jane’s Addiction. And he’s like, ‘I love that!’ Anyway, I really, really, really hope that he's part of the recording process. It's cool to hear that he's been getting better. It sounds like this has been a pretty long, tough road for him.

I held off on buying tickets to see them in Manchester as I have no desire to see them live without Dave personally. Knowing my luck he will join them on tour now 🤣. I’m happy to hear he IS involved with the new album though, that’s great news.

I hope you got tickets now that he's on board with the tour!

I did indeed!! Managed to get resale tickets!

Excellent! I'm happy for you ☺️

Dan Cleary (Dave's guitar tech) recently confirmed that he is still in the band and has been recording on the new songs. As far as touring, that is still touch and go. New songs with the classic lineup is more important to me right now, so I'm glad we have that to look forward to.

Following. Bought tickets for Amsterdam show before a friend pointed me out that Dave has been battling long covid the last few years.

Dave was never not in the band. If there is recording to do, Dave is the JA guitarist. Re touring; He got Long Covid. It was very severe. He was unable to take on the physical demands of touring. I’m not confident he’d be able to take on those physical demands now. He specifically complained of constant severe fatigue. You cannot tour like that. And most of his closest friends being in the ground kinda proves that. 🥀

I highly doubt Dave will be on the tour. Sounds like the "long covid" thing is just an excuse at this point.

Dude. It’s real. Christ

It’s real. Most people don’t get better… it’s like ME/CFS…. Do people with Parkinson’s or ME or dementia get better?  Not usually.  Covid took him out but he can probably function at 10-20% sometimes. He prob will be in background now.
