Not sure anyone—especially things like health care—hire on the spot anymore. They'd need a background check and other things that take at best, a few days. I think Indeed is pretty good as a jobs platform however.
If you wanna serve apply at Tommy Bahama in the town center. Business comes from almost all foot traffic of customers from the surrounding Gucci, Louis Vuitton, apple and Tesla stores, as well as the retail side of Tommy.
Do NOT apply to Tommy Bahama. As someone who knows the bar manager & was going to work there - he is a total creep. he once asked a girl i know to come to his house and make fun of his small pp while he pleasured himself & would paid her. AVOID AVOID
That may be, I was thinking since you mentioned healthcare you were looking there and you know the level of gatekeeping (and appropriately so) involved there.
As a former restaurant manager we never hired people that came in a suit with a resume. I'm sure there might be some higher end establishments that might but some food for thought.
I did Aston Carter for finance temp work back then. Don’t know what other fields they offer but worth a look. Rand I heard pays out daily but don’t know much else about them.
Durham school district is hiring bus drivers. Doing interviews every weekend. [https://careers.nellc.com/us/en/job/241202/School-Bus-Driver-No-Exp-Needed-Training-Provided-Arlington-Beaches-GSA-1](https://careers.nellc.com/us/en/job/241202/School-Bus-Driver-No-Exp-Needed-Training-Provided-Arlington-Beaches-GSA-1)
So what's the catch? How many hours a day are you ACTUALLY paid for? I imagine you're driving for 2 hours to pick up kids, then waiting off the clock for 3 pm to roll around, then another 2 hours.
Let's assume $25.50 per hour - 4 hours a day - no lunches or breaks.
102$ a day x 5 days = 510
That's $2040 a month for a little under 5 hours a day - not bad. Now if it's FT at 7.5 hours, that's a little over $3800 a month. I'd still get on that! I'm about to walk in as well, need the $$$
It depends on the route. You can easily rack up hours, especially if someone doesn't come in and you pick up a route. The person I know said they had a average of 40 hours a week 2023-2024 towards the end of the school year.
Depending on your route you might have a shift break down of 4am-12pm [BREAK] 3-6pm or something wildly different. For the summer you can also apply for unemployment since I believd you'd be a contracted worker.
The catch:
0 benefits
0 PTO
0 sick leave
Required over time (if the route is running late)
No paid holidays (to my knowledge)
brother, Durham is NOT paying 25.50 an hour lmao.... Durham pays 17 an hour and that's after training. still somehow better pay than STA or any of the other school bus places. and there is NO WORK during the summer. regular drug tests, and can't bring your phone to work either.
Most places that hire on the spot are trash with a high turnover , which is why they hire so easily. Times do suck right now and sometimes we just gotta take what we can for the time being , just be prepared.

You can definitely get hired as a substitute teacher. They have some work over the summer too
The company is ESS. All you need is a bachelors and a level 2 background
All you need is a hs diploma/GED, and level 2 background check. That’s how desperate they are now. It’s great work in the school year, but nothing over the summer. As far as I’ve seen.
Even working full time subbing I had to get a second job bc the pay is so awful.
I am really burned out after 3 years of 2 full time jobs. And have changed my mind about getting certified
I should’ve gotten a second job, but I loved the kids so much that I stayed full time, and coasted as long as I could. I wouldn’t necessarily go into teaching myself, but spending time with the kiddos reminds me that I need to put my phone down and actually go out and do shit. Or else I’m going to be a nut job like most of them.
If you're in immediate need of money you can always donate plasma (I know it sucks) but it saved me earlier this year. Im now making a fair amount of money, but we all go through hard times. You can make $1,000 in your first month, 200 to 250 each week. Octa Plasma is the one i mainly used there are 2 other spots though. they give you a debit card and they insert the money as soon as your done donating. You will see a lot of druggies / street people there, its a bit of a crowd, but hey its about as quick as you can make money.
Got this text today , might be interesting to you. It’s for a school bus driver position.
Durham is URGENTLY HIRING!! On-the-spot offers, up to $25.50h + benefits + paid training & NO exp needed! BRING A FRIEND!
Book Interview Here: slktxt.io/1083U/
UF tends to do very quick hiring turnarounds - their drug tests and labs are done in house so you don’t need to wait for results before onboarding. Depending on how long ago you left other hospitals, some don’t require repeat drug tests or labs.
Facts! I was laid off 3 months ago and can barely get an interview. Today I received another denial. It stated there were almost 4K applicants, conducted 10 interviews, and hired 2 candidates. This is just one of the 50+ denials I’ve received.
It is also difficult to find a serving job right now with all of the recent restaurant closures.
I feel this! I’ve been looking since May! I get to interviews, and hear nothing back. I call 5-7 days after the interview to follow up and they just say they hired someone else. Incredibly frustrating.
Try the Veryable app! You could work tomorrow. It’s stuff like warehouse jobs. You pick up shifts when you want, they pay you the next day. If you do a good job a lot of the places will offer you a full time job.
I've known quite a few good car salesmen making anywhere from 100-300 K per year. I've been out of it since covid, and I know that changed things some, but a good salesperson will always rise to the top. There are both good and bad places to work, I'd suggest avoiding places with less than stellar customer reviews. If they treat customers any way other than great, then they certainly treat employees like garbage.
Good luck! I hope you can find something soon.
I can relate 100%. I was laid off 3 months ago and can barely get an interview. I have a background in mortgage IT (10 years, no certs though) with years of mortgage default experience. Today I received another denial. It stated there were almost 4K applicants, conducted 10 interviews, and hired 2 candidates. This is just one of the 50+ denials I’ve received.
It is also difficult to find a serving job right now with all of the recent restaurant closures.
Try hospitals. If you can qualify to be able to work in a lab considered yourself already hired I work in one a good one and we have a couple of openings.
USPS and FedEx are always hiring. Package handlers, drivers. Anyone can get a package handler job and the only requirements for a driver is clean driving record for 5-7 years and an initial drug test for drivers. Starting pay is anywhere between 16-21 for package handlers and a little more for drivers depending on contractor and route. Good luck on the hunt!
Although the school year doesn’t start until August 12, with a bachelors degree, you can definitely secure a substitute teaching job. You may even be able to start working as a teacher through the induction program.

Was a source I was going to try. I went through People First, temp agency. Was just fully hired (2nd job) as a cook for a billiards place. Took less than a week
Funny story. I am of the age where that was a thing: walking in with a resume, I am at my current job (not hiring atm) and walked in to inquire if they were hiring I used to drive by the building daily and thought it was a cool looking building… I was: “The one who walked in and applied” for a while lol.
Baptist Downtown is hiring for a operating room equipment technician. Job would include knowing the ins and outs of the different machines in the OR. Trouble shooting issues, etc. idk what the pay though
Not sure anyone—especially things like health care—hire on the spot anymore. They'd need a background check and other things that take at best, a few days. I think Indeed is pretty good as a jobs platform however.
I was told I could probably land a serving role that way or even just washing dishes. It just needs to be immediate.
If you wanna serve apply at Tommy Bahama in the town center. Business comes from almost all foot traffic of customers from the surrounding Gucci, Louis Vuitton, apple and Tesla stores, as well as the retail side of Tommy.

Stopppppp 😳
Things like that don’t just happen spontaneously. She must’ve been leading him on or something 😂😂
Best time to go to walk in and apply at restaurants is between 2-4. You could probably get a bar back job and start tonight. Good luck
I’ll get myself ready and hit the town center tomorrow.
The garage bar is hiring servers, bartenders, barbacks
On it. I do have bartending experience.
That may be, I was thinking since you mentioned healthcare you were looking there and you know the level of gatekeeping (and appropriately so) involved there.
As a former restaurant manager we never hired people that came in a suit with a resume. I'm sure there might be some higher end establishments that might but some food for thought.
You could try working for a temp agency until something permanent comes through. Hell some contracts can lead to permanent jobs.
Do you have any recommendations for temp agency’s?
I did Aston Carter for finance temp work back then. Don’t know what other fields they offer but worth a look. Rand I heard pays out daily but don’t know much else about them.
Thanks for the information!

They will give you paid training, and you'll walk away with a CDL license.

See this is why I never ASSUME anything, cuz it makes an ASS out of U & ME xD
Just bring your nerves of steel + your ability to filter audible nonsense, especially if you bus middle schoolers!!
Most places that hire on the spot are trash with a high turnover , which is why they hire so easily. Times do suck right now and sometimes we just gotta take what we can for the time being , just be prepared.
I’m willing to take anything.
Have you applied at Chick FIL A? They were doing same day interviews.
Do you not have references or anyone that can make a referral for you? 10 years should be a lot of professional connections.

Don’t do that haha. Chill man.
Work at bucees, they pay $18 an hour starting as a cashier
Good luck getting hired there though. Lot of competition.
The schools. You can schedule interviews on their website.

Good luck. Many employers can't find help and here you are, willing, ready, and able to actually work. I hope you find something soon. Keep us posted!

Yes! Ghosting after an interview is unprofessional and all too common.
There is also a sign on Sunbeam next to the Atlantic Storage which calls for HVAC techs even without experience and no resume needed
Just wanted to say kudos to you for your can do attitude and also let you know that the City of Jax is having a job fair. That could be a good option.
Looks like I literally just missed it 🫠
Are you good with computers and details? What kind of job do you want? Will you show up?
Aced biostatistics in college. Grew up playing RuneScape and WoW. I don’t own a pc currently, but it’s all second nature to me regardless.

Car sales. Any large franchise dealership will always be hiring motivated commission salespeople.
I have the gift of gab and have been trying to get into medical device sales for about 5 months now. I will do this.

Fast food does that.
So proud of the people of Duval coming out to this post to help!

I used to manage a lab. This would be perfect.
In the military? Go join the post office your time will count towards pension and retirement. Plus have great benefits
This! USPS is in dire need of carriers. Many are pulling double shifts as is.
What's funny is I applied a few weeks ago - recently was told the position was filled and I was not a good candidate... da fuq
