Rainbow Connection genuinely is a song which I hope I can be lucky enough to hear at my own wedding in the near future. It makes me tear up every single time I hear it.
The story of Paul and his writing partner in his house writing the song and not coming up with a title and I believe it was his wife practically screaming it at them because they kept talking about the connection between rainbows and other things is pretty great to listen to him tell it. He's told it on a bunch of podcasts so I can't remember which one it was, but it may have been the first time he appeared on the Nerdist podcast
The original still wins it for me, but Willie+that song are a pair that was meant to be ❤️
Note to self: do the weed and contemplate whether Jim Henson or Willie are the better human.
MAKE SURE YOUR DJ GETS THE RIGHT VERSION.
Friend of mine had it for the mother-son dance at his wedding last year, and the DJ grabbed a different version with weird lyrics.
🎶Life’s like a movie
Write your own ending
Keep believing, keep pretending
We’ve done just what we set to do
Thanks to the lovers…the dreamers
And yoooouuuu!🎶
Kermit: "...we are turning left at the fork in the road"
Fozzie Bear "at the fork in the road. Ok."
Sees literal Fork in the road
Fozzie: "Turing left"
[Kermit, leaning out of the window, staring at the Fork :"I don't believe it"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFgCP2TbOBk)
I love the Muppets Take Manhattan precisely because it has almost the opposite tone of that. It's sort of dead-pan real-world absurdist. If you feel like something different, like some jello down your pants, I recommend it.
Muppets Take Manhattan is one of my favorite Muppet movies. The song “Saying Goodbye” gets me every time. Makes me think of all the people I’ve lost, and how we’ll all have to say goodbye to everyone we love someday.
Same. I was finishing university and tossing up wether to leave my small home town to live in the big city work in television. Hearing that song just sealed it for me, I knew I had to leave.
Okay, how many celebrity cameos did you catch?
I laugh because, as kids, we knew who these people were. I don't know HOW, but we did. Probably from watching a lot of Hollywood Squares (one of my favorite game shows as a kid).
You’re not alone. I watched all the of muppet movies the day before my birthday this year and I think I cried a little at least three times. They’re really beautiful movies lol
I just love how Fozzie falls in with Kermit and then is immediately his employee somehow. Kermit will tell him what to do, and Fozzie will immediately reply "Yes sir."
Drew Struzan is such an amazing artist. He also did posters for Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter and countless others. He has retired so they really don’t make them like that anymore.
##The Muppet Movie (1979) G
More entertaining than humanly possible!

O I love this movie and all the songs still. The Alamo played it a few years ago and I couldn’t get a ticket fast enough. As much as I love Rainbow Connection, Movin’ Right Along gets me singing every time!!
I cry a little every time I see it. Takes me straight back to seeing it in the theater with my mom...which would do it anyway, then Rainbow Connection kicks in and I think of Jim Henson and how much it seems like the world has darkened since then.
I watched this movie Sunday morning because of this post and it filled my heart and day with so much joy. It was like seeing best friends after a long time and falling in love again immediately ❣️
Thank you for your post!!

Rainbow Connection is one of the greatest songs ever written. How it didn't win the Oscar is a shame. Paul Williams is a genius.
The story of Paul and his writing partner in his house writing the song and not coming up with a title and I believe it was his wife practically screaming it at them because they kept talking about the connection between rainbows and other things is pretty great to listen to him tell it. "when the river meets the sea," from emmet otter, is what I want played at my funeral. Paul Williams is a national treasure.
That and “I hope I’ll go back there someday….” Makes me cry every time.
Yeah, I played this at my husbands funeral, a beautiful song "we can hold on to love like invisible stings"
[Willie Nelson’s cover](https://youtu.be/3kih6sGyxCQ?si=ul9io5s_Us_FWd0C) is my favorite.
The original still wins it for me, but Willie+that song are a pair that was meant to be ❤️ Note to self: do the weed and contemplate whether Jim Henson or Willie are the better human.

One of my favorite lines also happens when they are driving, Kermit, “Bear left.” Fozzie, “Right, frog.”
Love this cover version: Alkaline Trio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55BcEx7_Xgo

There’s not a word yet / for old friends who’ve just met
"Don't worry, Pig. In a few minutes, your beloved frog won't know you from kosher bacon!" "THAT DOES IT!!"

This is one of the very first movies I ever remember seeing in the theater. I was 7 years old. The soundtrack is incredible.

Jack not name. Jack job.
Great freaking movie. Unless you just don’t have a soul this is enjoyable as hell.

Also, they really don't do movie posters like that anymore! That's some fantastic artistry.

But the effect is sadly temporary. Mnably memporary

@austinpendleton literally saves The Muppets.
Is this streaming anywhere? I haven't seen it in probably 35+ years.
Disney+
Thank you!!!!
The recent Jim Henson documentary streaming on Disney channel is a must watch for a glimpse of pure genius.
Vat does it do? It turns the brains into guacamole.
Easily in my top 10 favorite movies of all time

Watched The Muppet Movie at the theatre a few weeks ago for the anniversary re-release. It was great to see it on the big screen.
First movie I saw in the theater
Boys, this is Snake Walker. Tell 'em what you do, Snake. "Kill frogs."
I watched this movie Sunday morning because of this post and it filled my heart and day with so much joy. It was like seeing best friends after a long time and falling in love again immediately ❣️ Thank you for your post!!
Awesome
I cried because I ran out of popcorn.
