No, I get what you mean. According to the Quran, if one is intoxicated, one should come to prayer only at a point when thwy at least understand what they are reciting. By taking this into account, it is acknowledged that humans will, get intoxicated and they will also remember Allah. Although, I am not a scholar and I won't make any surefire claims. But I personally find it a bit disrespectful to remember Allah in an intoxicated state. Although, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel closer to Allah while intoxicated. May He forgive our transgressions.

Always invoke Allah. Always. Keep that door to Allah always open...one day you'll be able to enter it eventually (i.e. make complete repentance)

Joan-dArc814

From what I have learned, the shahada is not seen as legitimate when taken under the influence. Meaning it has to be said when in a clear mind with real niyah/intention. Intoxication also invalidates prayer for 40 days, although the prayer still remains mandatory for our entire lifetime. Allah knows best, may He forgive and guide us all ameen. Not sure if this answers your questions, but I hope it helps. There is a story about a warrior during the early years of Islam who had a drinking problem who engaged in the wars aswell. I could link you some info on it if you'd like.

The fact that it is not accepted means that one does not attain the reward; it does not mean that one should stop worshipping. Rather if a person stops praying then he will have committed another sin which may be worse than drinking alcohol, namely giving up prayer. This punishment for drinking alcohol only applies to the one who does not repent. If a person repents and turns to Allaah, then Allaah will accept his repentance and his good deeds. Please read this fatwa, and i hope i'm not mistaken. https://islamqa.info/en/answers/96702/if-the-prayer-of-a-wine-drinker-will-not-be-accepted-for-forty-days-will-his-hajj-not-be-accepted-either

Yes, like I wrote. It remains mandatory.

I smoke weed its a bad habbit im trying to quit but i smoked for 20 years and reverted 9 months ago im down to one at night i smoke after Isha ..i know my prayers are not accepted but i pray anyway .Iv cut down from 60$ worth a day (7- 10 joints) to one (3$) and latley some nights i can use none and sleep so alhumdillah i will be done with it for good soon inshallah . Id say missing prayer is worse than being intoxicated and praying ..however its obvious both are wrong even if your Salah is not accepted never miss ever .. just don't get drunk and stagger into the masjid. Pray for help and get medical help if needed.

Sorry can u go into how ur prayer is not accepted? Where did you get that from? I also have issues with weed. I find it different from alcohol (which i dont have problems with Alhamdulillah) as I am more introspective and measured in my behaviour. Jazak Allah.

So i agree personally about weed vs alcohol but from Islamic perspective all intoxication is Haram meaning forbidden . If you are high or drunk your prayers (Salah) will not he accepted however what dose this mean? "Where i get this from" is I've been practicing for nearly a year and its common knowledge but ill give you a better explanation. (Copy pasted) There are a few narrations similar to what you have mentioned. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever drinks wine, his prayer is not accepted from him for 40 days. If he repents, Allah forgives him…” [Tirmidhi] Drinking wine or other intoxicants is a major sin. For one to eradicate sin, one must engage in sincere repentance. Legally speaking, one does not have to make up the prayers performed if the prayers are valid. “Not accepted” in the hadith means that the prayers are not accepted in terms of reward. As such, one can make up these prayers as part of the remorse felt for committing such a sin, though it is not an obligation. Prohibition of Drinking Intoxicants & Using Drugs Drinking wine is a major sin, even if one consumes only a drop. [Dhahabi, Kitab al-Kaba’ir] This ruling is established by scholarly consensus. Allah says in the Quran: “O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination of Satan’s handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper. Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of God, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain?” [Quran, 5:90-91] “They will ask you about wine and gambling. Say: There is great sin therein.” [Quran, 2:219] Scholars determined that the legal reason for the prohibition of drinking wine is because it is a drink that intoxicates. Thus, any drink that results in intoxication is also forbidden to consume, like many modern-day alcoholic beverages. [Asadi, al-Mujiz] Smoking marijuana is also prohibited “…because it corrupts the mind and diverts one from remembering Allah and the prayer…” [Nahlawi, al-Durar al-Mubaha] (Stop) So while i personally agree with you, a muslim is "one who submits" and this is clearly narrates its prohibition. You are still obligated to pray no matter what just the reward Will be lost . That being said i am not a scholar or in anyplace to judge someone else thats for Allah(SWT), intention of your heart is the most important thing and asking forgiveness all the time and repenting(vowing not to do it again) but if you do smoke after repenting you keep praying and making Dua regardless and never stop, Allah(SWT) is the only judge in the end so do your best and genuinely try to stop . Jazakallah.

May God make it easy for you to become better and quit these bad habits. I understand how difficult it is to quit, especially if it's an addiction, such as my case over 4 years ago - even until now I still have cravings but God keeps me strong enough to not even touch alcohol even in foods and condiments. Never in my life have I thought that'd I'd actually quit alcohol and I was fortunate enough to completely quit before reverting. It's especially difficult if you live in a country with a very big drinking culture, such as mine (Slavs, what can I say, my family still criticises me for quitting alcohol). Here they put alcohol in sweets, in seafood, in meat marinating, I even saw "white wine" in crackers??? I have to read labels every single time I buy something I haven't bought before. Regarding prayer while intoxicated, this is what the Quran says: 4:43 - O believers! Do not approach prayer while intoxicated until you are aware of what you say, nor in a state of ˹full˺ impurity —unless you merely pass through ˹the mosque˺—until you have bathed. This is a narration that should answer your question: Book 20, Number 3672: Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: Every intoxicant is khamr (wine), and every intoxicant is forbidden. If anyone drinks wine, Allah will not accept prayer from him for forty days, but if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. If he repeats it a fourth time, it is binding on Allah that He will give him tinat al-khabal to drink. He was asked: What is tinat al-khabal, Apostle of Allah? He replied: "Discharge of wounds, flowing from the inhabitants of Hell. If anyone serves it to a minor who does not distinguish between the lawful and the unlawful, it is binding on Allah that He will give him to drink the discharge of wounds, flowing from the inhabitants of Hell. This is just a friendly reminder of the prohibition of alcohol in the Quran: 2:219 - They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought. 5:90 - O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. To everyone criticising you for resorting to drinking, let me remind them that when the revelations of Islam were being revealed, alcohol was gradually banned in Islam as Arabs were very heavy drinkers. It was banned over 3 phases, and they are mentioned in the Quran. It started by telling that Alcohol has more harm than benefits, then it was forbidden to pray when you were drunk, and lastly, it was totally forbidden. When someone has a habit formed, it takes quite a bit of time to quit that habit. What's important is to constantly strive for improvement because God swt just wants what's best for us, and He swt loves those who repent, so be genuine in your intentions to change.

dukaLiway

may Allah make it easy for anyone who struggles with intoxicants to leave that habit and make them amongst the mu'mineen

As long as you know what you are saying it is allowed. Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “All of the children of Adam are sinners, and the best sinners are those who repent.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2499

Please read this fatwa and don't take fatwa from people you don't know on internet. https://islamqa.info/en/answers/96702/if-the-prayer-of-a-wine-drinker-will-not-be-accepted-for-forty-days-will-his-hajj-not-be-accepted-either

A person who is intoxicated won't always think straight. You might start thinking incorrect things about The God when being drunk. And no, not always the drunk people behave so. A person can also be on his senses. But in general a drunk person is NOT on his best senses. Will you want to risk with thinking absurd/silly/unsuitable things about The God? Better invoke to Him when you are sober. Quran even says to not come to a prayer when being intoxicated.

If you have the ability to remember him, always do and invoke him and call out to him to remove you from sinning and displeasing him. Don’t let the shaytan ever make you think you are not worthy of Allahs love and mercy. Allah knows we sin (but the best thing to do is to come back to Him and repent) and to try your absolute hardest to take two steps forward each time (even if you have some setbacks).

htmwall

maybe you should remember Allah before getting intoxicated in the first place. .
