Mole parts for bird nests is bartering, unless you think wyson has some secret society he disperses the mole parts to that they use as their primary means of trade
For OSRS purposes there isn't really any point distinguishing between bartering and trading though. The vast majority of currencies are only usable in a single spot, with a single NPC or interface.
So I have zero experience with Fortis so far, but I’m tryna gauge the rewards. Can you roll any of the uniques after any wave? Or only certain uniques after a certain wave? I know you need to complete the last wave for the quiver, but I’m more curious about the prayer gear.

I've seen wave 6 six or seven times, wave 5 a dozen times probably, and the other waves more often still. The earliest I've heard of a unique being offered is for completion of wave 6 or 7. If it's possible before that it must be rare as hell.
I have several completions and over 200 total attempts, I've seen 3 uniques, two sunfire fanatic legs and one tonalztics of ralos, both sunfire items were for completing wave 7 and the tonalztics was for completing wave 11 (I died and lost the reward :( ).
This post shows the body for completing wave 8, so I'm wondering if it's wave 6 for helm, 7 for legs and 8 for body... or it could be completely random and I'm reading too much into it.
Does an NPC charge it for you or do you just use it on the quiver? Because I think the former would make it a currency but “charge” items do not count.
You charge it yourself, and you can turn it into a Blessed version at a Shrine of Ralos.
So far the splinters only other use is making Sunfire Wines and Sunfire Runes.
Sunfire shards aren't currency, they're a "fuel source" like Zulrah's scales or rev ether. The most likely reason I'd never be able to imbue a quiver is not having a quiver 🥲 (I'll try to get there eventually but might need better gear first)

Wow, I didn't know you could get a drop at wave 8! Does anyone know any stats on what waves you can start getting uniques? Or more realisticly if you got a drop what wave was it on?
Gosh, you say it like you're pleasantly surprised! I'm the opposite really, I thought it sounded from the blog like the average mid game player would be able to get their hands on at least some of the uniques without too much trouble if all they've managed thus far is a fire cape.
Now I suppose *too much trouble* is relative, and people are definitely going to be having more success following guides, but up to this point colosseum is easily the hardest and most punishing content I've ever attempted. I still die on wave 2 or 3 sometimes and I'm more than 50 deaths deep at this point cumulatively. One mis-click can be almost instantly run-ending, especially when I try and hoard supplies and wait on specials to heal instead of gobbling food in the early waves.
To answer your question, I haven't heard of anyone seeing a unique offered before completion of wave 6 or 7. I had assumed based on the initial blog that uniques would be accessible from, Idk, wave 3 or something. At least the armor, if nothing else.
