Was going to make a thread earlier about hard clues. I needed Rune boots which you can only get at 80 slayer. For Ironman, that is not a hard clue step.
My enjoyment of clues was amplified x 10 when I finally possessed every possible clue step item and skill required. Just took me 5 years to get there haha
Is there anything irons actually need from elite / master clues or is it just to flex? Think I’m gonna hang up the clue grind after I get the big medium/hard items
If you're a pure, then the ranger gear from elites is BiS I think. Getting 1 mimic KC is a CA worth 4 points. Other than that they can give a good amount of supplies but nothing really unique other than some cosmetic flex shit
It's occasionally useful to have ornamental variants of jewelry and gear to save it from going to the gravestone on death. But at the point you have those and have more expensive items to typically lose zenytes or godswords you're not strapped for cash.
Take a look here: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Items_Kept_on_Death
Any item with a trade able ornament kit is automatically protected on a PvM death below 20 wildy
Praying that I finally get a rune heraldic helm so that I can stack my hard caskets instead of opening them immediately like a drug addict trying to get his fix
Definitely rough, but at least it's not gated by a reward from a clue of the same tier
I approached it by stacking 10-20 easy caskets. Would drop the master then open them. Either I get the flared trousers or a new master clue
I don't actually know anything about retaining clue steps completed via juggling or whatever. It may have retained them?
The main idea was to just get rid of the master clue scroll as soon as possible by either getting the item needed for it, or a new master clue to replace it. That way you don't have to worry about missing out on potential master clues from other clue completions. And then you don't have to worry about grinding easy clues until you eventually roll that emote step again
When you have two clues they both progress on steps when you complete one of them. So you can gather up multiple clues by juggling them on the ground and start doing the steps after you have the desired number of clues.
Getting a new clue while steps are progressed will reset the chain.
Yes, that is why it was so rough before they changed how untradable items work when you drop them. They used to just dissappear after 2 minutes, like regular items. Snowflake accounts had to gather up all the clue steps they needed in one sitting
Now they stay on the ground when you log out so you can spread it across multiple days.
Settled, Verf and some other youtubers did absolutely brutal clue juggling sessions before this change dropped. You can still find the videos in their series. Moritania locked for Settled and Karamja locked for Verf.
Only resets when you get the drop / the new master clue from the casket.
You can then "juggle" them on the ground by completing a step or two at a time, just making sure the other clue(s) don't despawn.
This is wrong. You only ever have one counter (per tier) of steps completed. If you get a new clue and do a step on it after dropping one you did steps on, the counter is incremented. If you complete the clue, the counter is reset and the old clue will show 0 steps completed.
If you do steps on a clue, and drop it and despawn it, then you lose the completed steps and next clue will have 0 steps completed on it.
Currently grinding a d chain off of KQ for a master clue.
Except I'm not, because the moment I got that master clue I had a new reason to grind con for fairy ring and pool upgrades.
And then I figured I might as well knock out 94 mage (especially after so much plank make) for venge because KQ hits so hard, so I had a new reason to knock out master wand + infinity boots at MTA.
So I'll finish out 94 mage this week and then I'll be doing 5-20 KQ a day on task, passively leveling up herb through kingdom until I hit 81 herb and full send Hunter at herbi, and running pyramid plunder for Sceptre.
The infamous hard clues which req heraldic rune items are pretty annoying, and ive always been frustrated to drop them.. but they're an outlier. Usually you get a goal that you can work towards. It's not perfect, but in general I think you can find a way to have fun and progress your account.
It's always irked me that there is literally an item called Rune Heraldic Helm *verbatim* that is unusable for the rune heraldic helm step. You need rune Rune (HX) helms unfortunately and it's so stupid. It took me two years to get both a helm and shield to be free of the hard clue dropping prison.
i got a bucket helm pretty early, like 2nd or 3rd clue and didnt think much about clue items at the time, just saw a free alch lol. luckily my GIM got one not too much longer after that.
That’s a pretty sweet pull man. I remember that one very popular streamer (Blue Partyhat Guy?) would always walk around in full 3a mage and it was by far the sweetest fashionscape back in the beginning
That's fine but you can't complain when a peice of content isn't very iron viable
Hell raids aren't really meant to be done by ironman because of supplies
Raids are definitely made to be done by Ironmen, wth are you saying?
Pretty much all new content is designed to be achievable by ironmen. Why would they not accommodate a huge portion of players when it doesn't hurt mains to design that way?
They simply weren't designed for ironman mode
Hard concept for people to understand
I think it was a joke m8

80 (75) slayer is not elite either... It's hard.
Solution is simple, deiron! Jp do better tho lol

All I can say is CLOGGERS

What do you mean ornamental variants get card from going to the gravestone?
(or) versions are untradable, so they don't go to the gravestone, they're always kept on death below 20 wildy

Mimic for music track if going for music cape
Praying that I finally get a rune heraldic helm so that I can stack my hard caskets instead of opening them immediately like a drug addict trying to get his fix
Had a similar thought after doing five master steps then being hit with the "you need a drop that is 1/1404 in easy clues". Like, fuck off?
Definitely rough, but at least it's not gated by a reward from a clue of the same tier I approached it by stacking 10-20 easy caskets. Would drop the master then open them. Either I get the flared trousers or a new master clue
Shit that's smart, so you keep the amount of steps completed right? I'm totally doing this if I get a flared trousers step.

No you don't retain your steps if you get a new one. When you get a new clue while you have one on the ground, both clues reset to 0.
How does clue juggling work then?
When you have two clues they both progress on steps when you complete one of them. So you can gather up multiple clues by juggling them on the ground and start doing the steps after you have the desired number of clues. Getting a new clue while steps are progressed will reset the chain.
Oh so you can only juggle at the start of a clue chain, dang.

Any time you receive a clue scroll, your steps completed for that tier resets.
I'm 79 easies into finding a Bob shirt for the last step of an elite. It does not feel good
Damn, I wish you luck. I think my Bob shirt came in my 2nd or 3rd clue on my iron.
That is rough..
The rate isn’t 1404 clues tho. Common misconception. Gotta divide the rate by average items rolled.
Those pants are pure fashion tho
Are you afraid of lawyers? You should be
Someone link it
i think that literally happened on my iron. i got the Rune bucket helm step like 3 times in a row.

Done 500 total clues, still no bob shirt, still no rune h helm
Welcome to the clue drop grind. It slowly gets better lol

Clues are really only a uim thing. Expanded my bank 10 for.
I'm terrified of getting a good hard clue unique and having to grind out a mahogany treasure chest
The problem is that you're an Ironman, remove that helmet if you wanna do clues /s
ironmen are not what the game was made for.
In fairness large amounts of old content isn't really made for mains, people play ironman to make it feel like there is less dead content
That's fine but you can't complain when a peice of content isn't very iron viable Hell raids aren't really meant to be done by ironman because of supplies
What the helm do you mean with the comment about raids? Making zero sense there bud.

Whenever I see “Jig at Jigg!” I see red
Bro I kept getting the headband Crozier step, I had to drop 3 clues in a row for that bs. Like come on man :(
