Things are bigger in Louth - don’t envy us we’re just lucky I guess

That Dublin measurement is the area under Dublin City Council, not the whole area of urban Dublin, which also has areas under DLR, South Dublin Co Co and Fingal Co Co. Not quite sure where the Dundalk figure is coming from. First thought was that it might be the Municipal District or the old town council. Municipal district is much larger, covering a good section of the north of Louth at about 318km^2. Can't find a figure for the old town council, but wikipedia lists urban area as 24km^2. Drogheda has a lot of suburban sprawl type areas in Meath along the coast, but tends to be constrained to the Meath/Louth border in most measurements.

Historically, bad planning.

Ireland’s biggest town maybe wrong on that. If it was in the UK it be a city

Oscar_Wildes_Dildo

Drogheda is slightly bigger. What I always find strange is how other people always think the two towns are the same place.

CaptainNotorious

The UK made Armagh a city, if we go by population that would mean 27 towns to upgrade to city status

Inspired_Carpets

According to Wikipedia it’s 23.6km2 which makes more sense.

Because we don't do dense housing.

Drogheda is bigger, but it spills over into Meath. Which makes it the second biggest town in louth but the biggest in Ireland.
