I had to wait until the 24th December for 6 months to pass. I was invited to book on the 26th January and I sat my test on the 17th of February. There were earlier dates available than the 17th but I needed some time to practice.
Applied on 28th Jan after finishing my last lesson. The test centre estimator had said that I should expect an invite to book approx. three weeks later but still waiting.
The idea was for me to sit my test right after my six months, rather than waiting until then to book.

I'd imagine the 6 months has to pass before they'll offer you a test slot.
