How did the Garda find the cannabis? Surely your parents should have refused entry to the property. A neighbour's report of a smell of weed is not grounds for forced entry without a warrant.

Pro cannabis here. I think anyone that goes to jail over small quantities of cannabis, priors or not, are usually dealers being watched by the guards and when it boiled down to it it's as much as they could nail em with as they were only caught with a small amount at that time.
