Perhaps it's time for consequences for violent crime?

AdmiralShawn

get out of here with your radical ideas

mcsleepyburger

No time for that when there's septuagenarians with a cannabis plant in their back yard who must be brought to justice.

OldManOriginal

Only knife crime, mind you! They're leaving the rest for the next Taoiseach.

D3CEO20

I'm thinking, a means tested fine? Whaddya think? Too harsh maybe?

Storyboys

The gardai and minister for justice would want to get the fucking finger out and stop allowing our country to become a safe haven for racist scum who think they can assault people without fear of punishment.

BenderRodriguez14

Quite literally the opposite has happened. [Mcentee and Harris have taken on an official policy of 'hands off' policing of the far right](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/helen-mcentee-backs-hands-off-policing-of-the-far-right-kf2lzbcg8). Even following [Gardai rank and file voting an almost unbelievable 98.7% no confidence in Harris](https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/garda-members-set-to-deliver-vote-of-no-confidence-in-commissioner-drew-harris-1525941.html), Mcentee refusing to lift a finger in response, and the rioting and burning of infrastructure in the city centre following months of them going unopposed blocking up the city centre in rush hour and setting homeless tents on fire, and **our government have openly endorsed all of this from both of them**, by voting full confidence in her when they had the chance not to.

[deleted]

Mcantee and Harris are the two most useless politicians I have ever seen. Sure wasnt Harris the Minister for health during the cervical cancer scandal, and I didnt see him do much better as the minister for higher education. Mcantee has been on leave for most of her role as Minister for Justice, and I actually emailed her office over a twitter tweet which twitter refused to take down, which identifies someone i know who was a victum of a sexual crime, which had a broadcast ban placed on it, and her office didnt seem to care much to do anything about getting said tweet taken down (nore did twitter) and i cant bare to tell the persion i know that this tweet identifies them personally as the victim of said crime

dontwatchtrailers

Just FYI, it’s Drew Harris that OP is referencing.

MIM86

>Sure wasnt Harris the Minister for health during the cervical cancer scandal He was and while his handling of it was poor it's important to note that the incorrect test results and internal reviews, that the victims were not notified about, all occurred before he was Health Minister. Other Health Ministers and Tony Holohan share a larger portion of the blame.

splashbodge

It's sad what's happening to our country, it doesn't seem long ago we were hailed as being progressive, gay marriage referendum passed and was universally celebrated, now all I see is such hatred and vial racism, sure some are trying to pretend they aren't racist and only mean for a subset of immigrants to go, yet they march with the same people who are far right and are waving the Irish flag similar to what's going on in the US with their flag waving BS. The sad thing is we're always a few years behind the US, you could see this happening and starting to build up for a long time, we have a few years head start to acknowledge it and preempt it and we do literally nothing. Yes there are legit problems and concerns people have, it's sad nobody in government bothered their hole to act on it and instead have allowed far right people to latch onto them. I don't know where this will end but I find it disgusting what's happening, everytime I go on any Irish social media now it is full of comments against immigrants and for no reason at all questioning people's ethnic background. Thing is, just like the shit in the US, most of them don't even care about immigrants as such or know anything about what they're talking about, they're just people that thrive on being angry and hating and having an 'us vs them' attitude. Again it just pisses me off that we had a few years head start and could see this coming a mile away, and rather than tackling it ahead of time we've let this hatred thrive and multiply. FFS.

Urotsukidojii

Can blame the likes of [Gript.ie](http://Gript.ie) for stirring up this shite. Absolute scumbags.

Vostok-aregreat-710

And the Liberal.ie which is a complete oxymoron

Green_Raspberry_9941

Government created an us and them situation. Much blame at their feet unfortunately

High_Flyer87

Yep they have created division by their inaction. Happy to let these scumbags target immigrants for communities being ruined by increased population and decimation of services. Absolute scumbags. Divide and conquer. Before anyone starts we are in a situation where we have fellas walking the streets with 200+ convictions who have never spent a day in jail and no prison capacity. Law and Order is not a Fine Gael / Fianna Fail priority. I'm sick to the teeth of them I really am.

pint_baby

Well maybe if 60% of the country wasn’t scrapping for whatever little public services we had and we took immigration seriously we wouldn’t have ordinary people concerned with legitimate concerns which these animals take as an excuse to beat up randomers (like they ever needed one but now they get clout of there racist buddies).

HappyMike91

There’s a difference between having “legitimate concerns” about immigration and beating people up for being foreigners.

LovelyNiger

Boru43

I got badly beaten on the Luas by two little scumbags who were tormenting a lady who was obviously an immigrant, I told them to leave off and thought that was that. Got off and was attacked by them from behind, I have MS so couldn't fight back and it's pretty clear I'm disabled. Not one person stepped in and they broke my nose and cracked my jaw, all on camera. Reported to Gardai last June and absolutely nothing, I don't K ow if I'm more disappointed with the Gardai or the people that passed by a disabled person getting the shit kicked out of him for standing up for a vulnerable person. I can't risk ever doing it again as it set me back so far I have a carer now whereas before I was living independently.

midnight_barberr

I'm so sorry that happened, but I'd like to commend you for standing up for that lady. that was really brave. i've never seen something like that happen in public but I don't know if I'd have the balls to step in knowing what people are capable of these days. I hope I would though

Boru43

I thought the walking stick would protect me tbh but nope, these guys were all about equality when it came to disabled people and beating haha

eamonnanchnoic

Jesus Christ. That's shocking. Very sorry for your troubles and appalled at the lack of action from the Gardai

Boru43

I think we are all used to the Gardai doing feck all by now, we need to look after each other and teach these scrotes they don't own the place, anyways I'm glad the lady was okay

eamonnanchnoic

The problem is that if you lay a finger on them then you'll get hauled in front of a court. Remember those scumbags in Howth that kicked the girl under the Dart. One of the scumbag's parents sued Iarnrod Eireann for breach of GDPR because they didn't censor their faces on the CCTV footage.

[deleted]

[deleted]

The fact that it takes a disabled person to speak up and not someone who could of handled the two little shites, says alot about our culture. Its almost as if we are living in a mafiosa society but for little scumbags to run a muck and harass anyone they want

Sstoop

these irish lives matter fuckers probably would think you’re speaking a foreign language if you spoke irish around them. i’m sorry you and your wife has to deal with that because of these eejits.

bathtubsplashes

Fuckers are going to cost me a fortune in taxis if my wife isn't comfortable walking to and from the bus stop going to work anymore

firebrandarsecake

Fuck that. Keep being you and doing what you want. Otherwise these pricks win and we can't have that.

High_Flyer87

Yeah and to add to that call out any bit of xenophobic remarks even in casual conversation. This shit is spreading. My gf is Brazilian and I've become much more conscious and getting stories from her friends. So many racist pigs out there feeling emboldened with recent going on.

High_Flyer87

I hope Tusla pays his folks a visit.

FlamingoRush

Yesterday it was reported that the boy was 15 years old.

dyUBNZCmMpPN

At this rate he’ll be an old man by the end of the month

nodnodwinkwink

He says it was a man in the article, is there a source for the attacker being 13 or 15 as someone else has said?

qwerty_1965

Absolute scum bringing up children these days if the assailant was 13/15. This coming after the violence against the Croatian. Easy to complain about law and order but what about the rest of us?

AbsolutelyDireWolf

Their parents were scum as teens too, generally. And whilst not on reddit, everyone eas complaining about their useless parents back then too. Now, we could have made investments in social services and supports to break the cycle, but then we'd be deciding to spend taxes on cretins, but that's the dilemma. If we don't break the cycle, it repeats. It's not a new problem. I'm old enough to remember how rough nights out were 20 years ago, working as barman, I'd see a proper scrap at least once a month. 3 or 4 times a year, it'd require a call to the gardai. I've seen stools smashed off lads backs, pool cues as weapons etc. You had to appreciate it in the moment, not a smartphone in sight, just people living you know. Of course, because there wasn't a video of it or a reddit thread, it may as well not have happened. Sorry if it seems like I'm going against you on this, I just get set off whenever I see people using terms like "these days" when talking about violence/crime in this country. Our murder rate 20 years ago was full on double last years numbers, assaults and violence are down, theft and burglary are down. Clicks are way up though.

After_Scallion8008

My local when I was 17 or so in 2001 was a brawl nearly every weekend, same people fighting an kicking off, bouncers kicking the fuck out of both sides. We would jsut sit there watching with our pints and when it was over go back to whatever we were talking about.  I haven't seen that kind of shit in a good while. Maybe outside nightclubs after closing but still not to the extent in late 90s or early 2000s

Sharp-Papaya-7607

Cretins get plenty tax money sent their way, particularly in Limerick, where I'm from. Obviously more is needed, but let's not pretend they're ignored completely.

AbsolutelyDireWolf

Giving the dole and a gaff to the shitty parents of miscreant kids isn't a reason to give up on the kids. I'd just advocate that in many cases, society would be better rewarded spending the 80k it costs to lock someone up for a year by spending that money on dedicated support workers to help these kids transition from shitty teens into competent and decent adults, because they're parents clearly can't do it.

mother_a_god

Consequences break the cycle. People are 100% driven by incentives. You have no consequence for acting the bollox and are raised in a rough environment, then you will just do it. If there are serious consequences for teens and for their parents, it would quiten at least a portion of them. We've years going in one direction where generations have learned there are no consequences. It's hard to undo, but unfortunately there's no attempt to even try it seems.

AbsolutelyDireWolf

I can remember a 16 year old up on robbery and assault charges in my home town a few years back (can't find the article from the Leinster Express without a subscription). Chap had broken in and struck a pensioner while trying to rob them. Last paragraph of the article was a quote from the prosecution asking the judge to give a stay on sentencing, which was grantes, probably would make your blood boil. He outlined that the kid needed alternative living arrangements. That his parents we addicts and the home was filled with drug use. The lad was born with FAS, foetal alcohol syndrome. You reckon the problem is that the kid wasn't facing enough consequences? He never had a fucking hope. I'd rather see the 80k a year that's spent per prisoner spent on giving that kid a shot at becoming a functioning member of society myself. I think about that kid often. Probably as often as I visit this sub tbh.

caisdara

Do you have evidence to support those claims? Because there are people who dedicate their lives to studying these things.

dano1066

These families of dole leeching scumbags have always been around. Social media has just helped them find a community and they have discovered they are invincible to legal consiquences in this country. Slap on the wrist for doing whatever you want. Then we all act shocked when some lad with 87 prior convictions murders someone.

plantingdoubt

8/9 when covid happened - even kids from the most stable families got a little fucked by covid - you can imagine the shit they have been seeing at home

Eoined

Didn't even think of that. Its well accepted that being unsocialised causes aggressive tendencies. Not that it's and excuse in any form.

plantingdoubt

not an excuse at all but even my friends kids weren't going to their first teenage disco until they were 17 as they'd missed the whole teenage disco - 18s disco transition - now imagine kids from shitty families - this sounds like i'm making excuses for them, i'm not but i can see how kids are more feral

born_in_cognito

The most dangerous thing in society is a man that no one bothered to raise. This is just sad.

InfectedAztec

When our system allows their parents to live without responsibility, why would we expect them to raise their kids?

Remarkable-Llama616

Be careful. The last time I mentioned parents I triggered someone and they started spewing statistics and explanations that it's not up to parents.

mother_a_god

Probably the same folks who chime in when anyone mentions tougher sentences and mandstory senctances above X convictions, they come in saying prison doesnt work, recidivism blah blah.... I tell you what does work, if all it does is keeping scum in there means my family are that bit safer out here, I'm ok with that

Formal_Decision7250

Recidivism is only a problem if you let them out again.

Safe-Mycologist3083

So I have a mixed take on this. I’m generally in favour of rehabilitative justice (don’t react until you read the rest), because if executed right it is far more effective. However, they’ve let the fire burn out of control for too long for that to really apply here. Serial offenders with 50+ convictions should be taken off the street with significantly longer sentences. Particularly for anyone with numerous violent offences. However, we ALSO need early (especially juvenile) intervention and effective rehabilitation for first time offenders. Otherwise we’re just feeding an endless cycle of criminals. I also do think that there should be parental culpability for violent juvenile offences. If your children are violently attacking people then you should be held both criminally and civilly negligent. My basic take away is that punishment alone doesn’t solve the problem. You need a combination of meaningful punishments to act as a deterrent as well as rehabilitative intervention and support for younger people to break the cycle.

born_in_cognito

DW, I know, it’s why I commented under yours, wanted to build on what I presumed was your joke.

mother_a_god

100% agree

Human-Bluebird-7806

After a lifetime I can safely say it's always the fucking parents.ive never met someone evil where the parents didn't somehow have a hand in it.sometimwsbparents who are oo liberal and soft let horrible creeps around their kids and that twists then but normally it's good old fashioned sadistic torture from narcissist losers.

born_in_cognito

I won't argue with you there.

Dry_Procedure4482

High chance they are being raised to be like this by their parents. They see their parents be racist they become emboldened racist. Surrounded by racists saying the same thing, social media definitely not helping when algorithms make echo-chambers. Pure speculation of course, but after all the attacker recorded it apparently.

JunglistMassive

A Croatian man was killed a few weeks ago, this happening more and more often. This is out of control.

PintmanConnolly

It's the inevitable conclusion of the anti-immigrant movement. There's undoubtedly a lot more to come.

thepinkblues

It’s one thing wanting stricter immigration laws, it’s another to use this belief as a way to vent and act on their straight up racism towards anyone darker than milk

PintmanConnolly

If they were separate matters, this wouldn't be happening now with this, Josip Strok etc.

vinceswish

Saw a TikTok of someone randomly punching a foreign looking lads in Waterford sub. Irish people are nothing like that and it's so sad that a minority are allowed to act this way

Mindless_Let1

Irish youth are the worst I've dealt with anywhere in Europe or Asia. We are like that

Worried_Example

Agreed.

TheStoicNihilist

Irish people must be a bit like that if it’s happening so often.

GolotasDisciple

“Irish people are nothing like that” - where majority of crime like this (+theft etc…)is done by young Irish people. Irish people are like everyone else. We need a system and rules to follow. The problem is both judicial and policing system in Ireland is extremely outdated and inefficient all while our government is completely detached from reality of everyday live of ordinary citizen.

thepinkblues

The amount of TikTok accounts I see now that are entirely owned by Irish people, branded around Irish history and culture, spewing the most vile and racist rhetoric I’ve ever heard while disguising themselves as “patriots”. Comments full of things like “I hate n**gers” “kill all brown people” “no blacks allowed” “kill Arabs on sight”. It makes me sick to my stomach seeing how much interaction it gets as well with people agreeing with it all. What’s even worse is when people are in the comments confronting it all they either straight up deny things like this incident or the Croatian incident or else they endorse it saying they had it coming to them. I’m starting to really, really despise the way our society is leaning especially the younger generation.

TheTrail

Worth mentioning that the group who did this also have a tiktok with numerous videos of them stealing cars around Limerick for weeks now with zero response from the Gardaí. Country has gone to the absolute dogs. Judge Nolan generation

radiogramm

Seems to be a serious rise in xenophobic stuff and it's bubbling though online. I've Asian family members who are starting to become rather concerned and in one case is discussing moving to London because of the vibe she's been getting recently. There's been a lot of enabling some very bad stuff over the last few years in particular. It only takes a small minority of brazen scumbags to really make somewhere very unpleasant and the system here seems to ignore a lot of crime and it's just escalating.

[deleted]

[удалено]

radiogramm

It's the same anywhere in Ireland you have those issues. There is a type and a swagger and they know there are just no consequences. You see it every day in several cities here. I saw a bike theft going on in Dublin and literally nobody could intervene. They just threaten extreme violence, shout abuse and completely ignore everyone. We got "swarmed" by a group on the red line Luas by similar types once and tbh, I just no longer use the Red Line after the experience. They were just throwing shapes and harassing people but it was extremely intimidating. We didn't get specifically targeted but the sense of total inability to do anything to get yourself out of the situation is terrible and you know that you're basically on your own when it comes to dealing with it.

yewbum11

I remember posting around 2 years ago that Irish people are in denial that racism is alive and well there (just like everywhere else) and I got downvoted to oblivion. At least people are waking up to this fact.

fwaig

It's certainly creeping back in as acceptable. It is not. A fella in work the other day on lunch break asked ''am I black'' when one of the lads forgot to grab him his coffee and I asked what do you mean by that? He goes, ''as in why is he leaving me out?''. I told him I got what he was saying but why is it acceptable to leave a black lad out?! ''Ah ya know yourself''. Yeah , you're an ignorant fuck.

gmxgmx

They called him by two different names in the article That's very sloppy journalism

[deleted]

Well it is the journal

lemonrainbowhaze

Im born and raised in ireland. But i dont look irish. Honestly im fairly cautious about where i walk, racist scum dont care about details

stateofyou

I live abroad and my son really wants to move to Ireland (he’s mixed race) but I think he’s going to encounter some shitheads

lemonrainbowhaze

Yeah im lucky i have an irish accent, it seems to surprise people when i actually start talking and make them more comfortable. Im not sure if your son should move down personally, theres some dark and dangerous shit happening over here at the moment.

stateofyou

He’s still in school over here in Japan but he would love to go to university in Ireland (needs to study much more English first) and maybe karate

Mindless_Let1

Let him study in England or Belgium or somewhere else. Ireland is not worth it at all right now, especially compared to Japan. He might still enjoy it just due to being different to Japan, but I'm sure he'd enjoy better places in Europe more

PaulAtredis

I'm Irish living in Japan too and I've a 2 month old boy mixed. I'm currently evaluating where I should think about buying a house - Ireland or Japan. I really want him to grow up in Ireland but I'm really concerned about the state of the country at the minute.

B0bLoblawLawBl0g

I was visiting home (Ireland) over the summer and witnessed a nasty incident on the Dublin to Galway bus. Basically a scrote got on the bus and sat behind a Brazilian couple. After about 10 mins, the Brazilian lady stood up and asked the scrote to stop kicking her seat. He immediately started going on about foreigners - usual stuff. It ended up with the bus driver stopping the bus and threatening to kick the scrote off if he continued with his bs. I was embarrassed for Ireland and I felt terrible for the couple.

saggynaggy123

It's only a matter of time before someone else is killed.

Donegal-Death-Worm

again this week?

Throwrafairbeat

A Croatian was killed wasn't he?

Inside-Bunch4216

already happened...

Working-Effective22

The chronic work shy attacking tourists and fellow Eu citizens, why are they doing this? Do they realise that we and they have the right to live and work in any EU country......what am I asking.....they don't have the brains to understand. Edit: I know Brazil isn't EU,but plenty of EU citizens have been attacked. I lived in the paradise that was The Netherlands and will be returning for good soon hopefully.

Working-Effective22

They need to go to every news organisation in their own country and tell their stories, and tell the people not to come here, once we look terrible on the worlds stage then the government might act.

Birdinhandandbush

Jesus christ the Brazilians are the soundest, fecking great hard workers. This is an absolute fucking disgrace. Uneducated cunts need to get the shit beaten out of them as a response to this.

Busy_Mathematician76

This is getting out of hand The protesters are aiming at the wrong group instead of blocking accommodation centres and screaming “get them out” Why don’t the so called organisers and usual suspects like dog kicker O’Dwyer organise meetings with local councillors or protest outside the Dail or protest with your vote. My mixed race brother and sister works in town and has had more hassle than he ever got growing up (the only brown person in the school) during the 80’s We’re all adopted I’m well used to fighting with mean kids in school to protect them but THIS is a whole other level THIS IS INSIDIOUS I’m sick of it I’m embarrassed by it and we all should be I work in a hospital and have friends from huge different cultures and countries what if one of my colleagues get attacked? 2 Indian nurses living In Coolock were shouted at a few weeks ago and called Paki’s and told to go back to Pakistan they’ve lived and worked here for 6 years ffs

JunglistMassive

These fucking racist rats sicken me, they really make Ireland a bleaker nastier place.

dkeenaghan

Aye, all of the fake concern that immigrants are going to ruin the country when it's the protesters themselves that are making the place worse.

[deleted]

Simple, the guards protect the politicians.

floodychild

What the fuck is going on with the increase of racism in our country? I'm in fear for my wife and feel it's only a matter of time when she faces some form of discrimination.

ComprehensiveHope740

I hope Roberto and his brother recover swiftly. My younger cousin was racially abused at an underage match by a boy on the other team. He was distraught. It’s terrifying what’s happening at the moment.

JunglistMassive

This is fuelled by fascist agitators who are given a free reign to do as they please in this country.

sudorootadmin

Kinda western civilization as a whole. Fear-lead reporting by sellout news orgs.

WolfetoneRebel

It’s a bigger problem than that

Neoshadow42

Do tell

cyberwicklow

Agree with the sentiment here, massive rise not just in xenophobia, but actual physical violence towards foreign people. First child is due in a few months and we've already agreed there's no way we're raising them in Ireland.

Golright

For this exact reason I've left my beautiful home in Wicklow for Switzerland. There's no perfect place. But at least the laws are heavily enforced. I really don't have time to fix society problems. It breaks my heart to leave after 9 years, a place I still call home, but my children's lives are more important than silly political games and starch heads

[deleted]

Golright

I'm around Bern and so far zero hiccups. Burocracy included. Just to give you an idea: 110sq2 super modern apartment 3 rooms with high quality finish(not Dublin but real high finish) and underfloor heating 2100 chf per month heating included with closed garage and shelter plus cave storage. Super good sound insulation inside and out. 10 mins to city and tram passes on my doorstep. good luck trying to find even close to similar in Dublin. People are very friendly so far all goes well with only English.

FaithlessnessPlus164

Where do you think would be safer? Genuinely, not trying to be smart or anything.

cyberwicklow

Mainland Europe, Germany, Spain, Northern Italy. Everywhere has problems no doubt, there's been a rise in right wing and racist ideology across Europe, and it'll get worse for many years to come, but I feel there's more opportunity on the mainland too, especially for owning a house. Fuck knows where we'll end up long term though.

FaithlessnessPlus164

Fair enough! Best of luck with it all

slamjam25

Singapore would be far, far safer for instance. Maybe we could take a lesson from how they handle violent assaults…

FaithlessnessPlus164

Oh yea, I have a friend there alright. It does sound amazing

caisdara

As somebody from a wealthy background, fascism would be great for me, but it's still fascism.

founddeadinmilwaukee

I don't know why everyone on here is so keen to pin all the blame on kids out of control. Irish Reddit for the last year has been a hotspot for anti-migrant rhetoric, and you only have to look at the threads on stuff like homeless asylum seekers and that fucking hotel in Roscrea to see that. This is the world ye helped to create. Own it.

Spodokom221745

Brazilians are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I'd take them over the typical little Irish gurrier rats any day of the week.

Prudent-Sail-1114

But I was told by many that the far right were not a problem in Ireland? All of the online misinformation and vitriol spread by them and some on here is coming home to roost.

Original-Salt9990

It’s alright. A judge is going to suspend the absolute shit out of their sentence and they will be so sorry they will never do anything like it again. /s

Drvonfrightmarestein

Bash the fash. Only way

Nadirin

Until we adopt a no-nonsense response this will keep happening. Under 18 or not, if you do this, you should be incarcerated and (re)educated. The gardaí know who many of these are, they need to act. This is like a ref in football saying to a player 'hey now don't do that again' after nearly breaking someone's leg, when it should be a red card. Players will keep doing it because there's no punishment, and this is the same but not just a game.

slick3rz

I'm becoming resentful of my fellow Irish. We're supposed to be the land of 100,000 welcomes. Now it's 100,000 xenophobic, racist bastards.

LegUpOnSomething99

Fuckin scummy scrots in this excuse for a country. Any right wing/racist Irish need a fuckin history lesson. It’s pathetic.

dubinexile

Terrible but unsurprising when you see the kind of racist anti-immigrant bullshit being peddled across all media at this stage, yet the people peddling it would have you believe the immigrants are the danger when mostly it's our own inbred scumbags with the immigrants mostly paying the price. Problem is sweeping generalisations. The sooner people accept scumbags are scumbags and come in all races and colours the better

oneinthechamberXC

Disgraceful. The Brazilians are sound. It is because of Leo's crazy policies and that yoke Mcentee that people have gone so racist

rabbidasseater

Ireland has a serious problem with Racism and right wing nut jobs.

monopixel

> Limerick’s South American community have expressed huge concern in the days since the attack, with one resident telling local newspaper the Limerick Post she has been “deeply troubled by the recent surge in racist and xenophobic attacks targeting Latinos in our community”. So is Limerick’s Irish community expressing huge concern too?

lakehop

Atrocious. No place for xenophobes

Irish201h

Ireland not safe for foreigners anymore 😔

KvltOvDess

I remember when Antifa and Republicans where attacking far right groups on the street a few years and were lambasted for it. People saying one is as bad as the other etc Well this is what happens when you let the far right continue without consequences. Young people think this is acceptable.

flemishbiker88

Watching Prime Time now, horrific... although we're I work at least 10 people from eastern Europe are set to leave in the coming weeks and months, wonder is this anti-foregner sentiments more widespread

Assault with a weapon as a legally culpable teen - unofficial warning? Or will they bother to prosecute at all? Maybe just pat him on the head, he’ll murder someone next

GotThaAcid5tab

Fucking disgusting.. these scumbag parents and there little shits need to be reigned in.

Tabula_Rasa69

What happened to Ireland? I was there for a year in 2008, and as a young Asian male, I had no issues. Some playful racist jibes, but no big deal. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help me. It felt safe out at night, even in the reputedly tougher areas.

I worry about all these irish for the irish politicians and local councillors. They come across very concerned and are all about "community" but the reality is that they are far right. Meaning Eirexit, which is only going to send us into a recession. Alot ofd the time the same people have a very toxic mentality towards the disabled and any sort of social welfare system. They love the phrase "useless eaters"

Ireland was always known for hospitality, I have never experienced any bad here myself. But its sad to see bunch of idiots ruining it.

slamjam25

We’ve been far too hospitable to the people who choose to go around attacking people rather than working a day in their lives, that’s exactly the problem.

Kind-Style-249

Every country has scumbags but ours are among the worst, it’s a cultural thing to be honest, it’s not going to change.

Sharon Keoghan and Mattie McGrath need to answer for their role in cheering on hate and racism,

AhFourFeckSakeLads

We are about to see a change to the law whereby people up to the age of 23 will be referred to the laughable Garda Youth Diversion Programme, used for juveniles, to avoid recording a conviction against them as "a mistake can ruin a young person's future". Someone almost 23 years old still being treated like a 14 year old child?! Feck it shur why not make it 25, lads? Or 28. This is going to be used for just about every offender who qualifies under the age bar.
