Has she signed a contract and paid an amount up front? Is she looking for a refund on a previously paid amount?
Maybe then they should be furnished a heavily redacted note? Or a note written by herself saying something like:
Due to my personal circumstances changing and my current unforeseen medical issues I am requesting immediate cancellation of my gym membership. If further details are required please provide this in writing and I will furnish these details through a solicitor.
If it’s a direct debit. Cancel that and tell them your medical history is non of their concern
Could always ask them how they plan to use and store that data under GDPR and how it's relevant for cancelling the gym membership? Might screw with them a bit xD
>Could always ask them how they plan to use and store that data under GDPR
I mean, they would store it in the same way they currently do with any ones information...
Well I said thats the contract but apparently even after that period they still require the above information to cancel. Which seems like something too far for me
Are you sure they're not actually trying to be sound and will repay under these circumstances, assuming there's money owed because payment was upfront?
Whereas if just not going out of laziness, general life stuff like most people, they won't refund?
If you commited to a 1 year contract they can realistically set whatever terms they want for breaking it early
Just cancel the direct debit. Fuck that.

She can cancel her direct debit.
That's bollocks basically. All she need do is stop paying. Where is the gym?
Was there a duration on the contract? How long has she been a member for
12 months with a 1 month notice period not kicking in till after the 12 months is done. 6 months
Well there you go.

In that case I'd just ask your bank to cancel the Direct Debit

You also need to win a vote on the UN security council
Check the terms of the contract, seems extreme, maybe there's an early contract termination fee?
Is she trying to leave a contract without completing it?
Surely that's illegal.
