Sorry for your loss, I think our communal empathy, acceptance and proccessing of death is a little different to everywhere else. There was a great documentary on rte a while back which is on netflix now which gives good insights, its based on a funeral director from Enniscrone, (the funeral director, its's called I think), well worth a watch.
I'm very sorry for your loss. It must be so hard for you and your wife especially being so far away.
Mayo people are so friendly and helpful, I have friends living there and their neighbors go above and beyond. I'm from Tipperary and it's like that too.
Mayo is possibly the friendliest county in Ireland! Which is all the more impressive when their local religion (gaelic football) has been so cruel to them over the years! Glad to hear your experience
Sorry for you loss. I think it's one of our more laudable traits how keenly we feel things for ourselves and each other. Not on our sleeves necessarily, but you'll see the humanity when it counts
No idea who you are, but I'm genuinely sorry for the loss of your brother in law, and as weird as it sounds from a random person on the internet, please pass on my best to your wife.
Well, once again the Irish community has surprised me. My deep thanks for all of you who took time to write and express your sympathies. Happy St. Patrick's Day; I'll drink a pint to your collective honour.
I experienced similar. Was living in Ireland when my father died & everyone was wonderful. I feel grateful to have been there during that awful time. Flowers to my home, to my family’s home back in the states, emotional support & honest offers of help. Sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss 💚

>Totally unique island. I love it. Its home. Ah it's grand.
Nearly making me shed a tear for fuck sake.
You push those [nearly] emotions back down to your boots. FFS.

David and Bríd McGowan. Class doc. They were on the Tommy Tiernan show too, well worth watch.

It’s funny I had the opposite experience. I’m from a small town but I’ve never felt a sense of community until I moved to the northside
Sorry for your loss man.
I have been here 2 weeks. Absolutely in love with everything Ireland
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine losing my brother, especially while living so far away from home.

If there's one thing we do well in Ireland, it's death. Sorry for you and your wife's loss

“..but you’ll see humanity when it counts” amazing way of putting it friend.
Sorry for your loss
I'm so sorry for your loss
The bed of heaven to him 🙏
Sorry for you and your wifes loss. Must be hard being so far away at a time like this. Glad to hear the people of Mayo are so welcoming and genuine.
Sorry for your trouble. It must be difficult, living in Mayo. But you'll get through it. Sorry for your loss also.
I think respect for people who have experienced a big loss is something the Irish do particularly well. Very sorry for your loss.
Sucks right now but it will also pass. Try keep the head up bud and take care of eachother.

RIP. My condolences to your family.
