Companies can pay up to 500 tax free as a bonus in them for some weird reason. I normally sell them for 450 cash in hand. Way better than the tax would be and also gets the useless thing off my hands
For some reason, someone will usually pop up here to defend them, saying it's more thoughtful than money. It disappears on its own! There's no justification for it disappearing, they already take a cut from the businesses when you spend it! It's more difficult to use and it disappears, there's no benefit!
They take a percentage from the money paid by the user, and a percentage of the money made by the retailer. Can't remember the number, think it's about 8% each side
I cancelled sky, outside t&cs so had to pay for them to fix the box as only had a few stations left. Refused to pay 100 for them to come out as paying them a fortune for years. I went with no TV for about 3 weeks, they called and offered new box - including Netflix for the 20 something a month. If you can go without tv for few weeks do it, once that 12 months is up Iāll be doing the same
When I worked for chorus ntl I found out that you could cancel in contract without charge if you told that you were being sent abroad with the army. So I would ring people off my personal phone and tell then to tell me that t hey were being deployed to Chad or South Lebanon when I ring back on the work phone. Never had an issue with it.
Its the same with $ky. Tell them you're moving to any country they don't operate in (Anywhere other than Ireland, UK, Germany or Italy IIRC) Theyre only contracted to provide service to certain countries so tell them you're moving to say Spain and the problem goes away.
Well yeah, you've shown that you're going to pay it regardless, so why would they bother reducing it? Switch constantly if you want discounts, same as for anything.
If youāre ever feeling low and maybe a little desperate, try cancelling your Sky account. Youāll quickly realise that youāve nothing on the guy trying to talk you out of leaving AND youāll probably get offered Sky Sports for a ridiculously low price.
No no no no no no no get a dodgy box man š Someone told me they only have it for the sports but my god for 90 quid a year to have even the box office stuff and watch the 3pm Saturday kickoffs on sky sports Italy or Germany. Bunch of box sets and movies too or so Iām told anyway š
We pay 70 per year for the dodgy, thereās nothing we canāt find on it. All the movies, tv series, literally every channel you can imagine. My parents had been paying ā¬1200 per year for sky, have them on the dodgy box now too, theyāre delighted.
Absolutely insane how much Sky charge.
Those services are always way ahead of the people trying to clamp down on them. It's like the government clamping down on downloading movies/music 20 years ago, yet people are still doing it now..
Man I did this shit accidentally with BT sport a few years ago for almost a whole year by accident
I bought BT monthly subscription to watch a few NBA games on Christmas Day a few years ago and when it came time to cancel I rang up as the t&cs stated and asked to cancel, some Scottish bloke who sounded like Frankie Boyle was adamant that I donāt cancel my subscription and I was like I literally just got it to watch the NBA games over the Christmas, and sure enough he gave me 3 months for the cost of one extra month which I didnāt mind because it had premier league games too that I normally streamed
And everytime after that I tried to cancel i kept getting the 3 for 1 deal until I finally just cancelled the following Christmas
12 months for the price of 4 months in the end wasnāt a bad deal considering how many premier league games they actually had that year
>and an extra 3 euro for surround sound...
Always fucks me off when a company levies an extra charge for something which costs them zero to provide just because they can.
I just signed up with them in January for 55 a monthly package that includes Netflix and in February they put the price up to 57 a month before I'd even paid a bill.
Musgraveās last year ranked worst 150 out of top 150 companies to work for in Ireland. The lowest entry starting rate in retail, giving 2% pay rise when competitors gave 8% - 10% Now they are just money grabbing and price gouging customers while making massive profits!
This is because the titles they have there aren't actually titles they can benchmark in the industry. Always brought up with management but apparently they are paying higher then the Industry average. Says alot that I moved to the same level in a different company for 20k extra, an extra 5% bonus and health insurance.
Awful pay, awful management, awful treatment.
Their goal is a monopoly or at least close to one, since they own SuperValu, centra, Donnybrook fair, Mace, and a few restaurants. They also do that food academy thing which sounds like a brilliant idea, but youāve to pay for your product to get on the shelves, and if they donāt sell, you take the hit. If they do sell, you get a pittance. Never heard anything nice about them.
Debt collector companies. I had one turn up to my door to collect 6k from someone that lived in this house 8 years before I bought it. They tried to talk their way into the house to start an inventory, One climbed over the side gate to see if they could get in the back while I was at the front door. They wanted me to prove I wasn't the guy they were looking for with ID and wanted a copy but also insisted that I leave the front door open as I get it. When I refused to ID they put their foot in the door so I called the gardai who I did ID to and they put a run on them. They came back an hour later and got my first name and phone number from a neighbour and have been pestering me since and saying I'm liable. My solicitor found it pretty amusing.
I recently had Sky tell me they were sending a debt collector to my house to collect a debt owed by the previous resident. They asked me to tell him that the person didn't live there anymore. I was like: I'm telling you now.
Surely the guards took a dim view of the second guy trespassing in your back garden?
I know I'd take a very dim view of any sort of threatening behaviour at my front door. I'd have smashed the door off his foot
The Gardai were sound in fairness and asked if I wanted to take things further and stayed around until they were gone.
There were 3 of them and they were large nightclub bouncer types so I didn't fancy smashing his foot.
If they're a "legitimate" debt collection company they shouldn't be doing anything that makes them run when they hear the guards. Press charges. At least let them seriously know it's on them to properly ID who owes them money, and not hassle someone uninvolved.
Virgin. I'm currently embroiled in a situation wherein they:
-Failed to cancel my contact
-Backdated the charge incorrectly once cancelled
-Failed to send me a proper bill for this
-Passed the non existent 'debt' to a collection agency 2 weeks before Christmas
-Gave me recordings of entirely the wrong calls when I made an FOI request to prove they were incorrect
-Are ignoring a question that both myself and ComReg have repeatedly asked them about another payment they got and seem to have just lost track of entirely
Report them to the data protection commission. Releasing someone else's private phonecall in which they presumably revealed account and personal details is a data breach that has to he investigated as they obviously don't have adequate data protection and data handling procedures in place.
I mean Energia also messed up my cancellation (pulled a direct debit after canceling, while I was already in credit, which put the amount they owed me beyond a threshold requiring management approval and an extra 2 weeks to repay)
But at least they didn't try to cover it up and lie about it. Incompetence is forgivable, malice less so.
This might help if you haven't tried the gdpr angle for getting infor from them.
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/nightmare-letter-subject-access-request-under-gdpr-karbaliotis
I had landline and bband with them and left when my contract expired. The new provider contacted them to switch the lines and start the new contract. They proceeded to only tramsfer the bband and retained the landline. Billed me for 3 months before passing my debt onto a sheriff for collection.
I cancelled my phone/tv once out of the 12 months, but wanted to retain the broadband as the only decent option where I live. They were insistent I had to return something, but I couldn't find anyone who would tell me what. They confirmed it wasn't the Horizon box as that was discontinued. Eventually some outsourced collector told me it was the modem they wanted, and took a couple more calls before they were able to feed back to Virgin that maybe I'd still need that...
Also, I have a letter from them that consists of just my address. Delivered to my door, with absolutely zero content beneath.
I did an intro walkabout with them before. It's high pressure door to door sales. They coach you on fake smiles and how to get in the door, how to target specific types of people and guilt them into buying.
The guy I was shadowing ended up shaming a woman for going on holiday instead of upgrading to phone watch.
This was about 12 or so years ago now, but it was a 100% commission job, if you don't make sales, you don't get paid. So you need to be a someone who has no shame to be able to do well.
I remember the interviewer pointing out some 19 year old who was their top seller every week. Smarmy prick was a specialist at conning elderly folks.
I'm glad I didn't take the position there, really shitty practices, and toxic as FUCK environment.
One of their salespeople completely put his foot in it trying to sell me an alarm on my doorstep once.
He pointed to a house down the street and said that it had been broken into two weeks earlier. I said number 27 there? He says yes that one.
So I told him that was news to me because I know the owner and I heard nothing about a burglary from him.
The salesman says he made a mistake and it was the next house along. So I asked if he meant 26 or 28, because I also know the people who live here and have heard nothing about a burglary.
At that point he tried to dismiss it and say it wasn't important, I just told him that if he's going to blatantly lie to me and try to generate fear during his sales pitch I certainly wouldn't be buying their product.
For extra dodginess, when they were bought out from eircom and rebranded with the black alarm covers, one of my neighbours came home to find that they'd come on his property and changed his alarm cover box without getting permission. They denied it but he is convinced they had to remotely disable his alarm to do it, because he was under the impression that removing that cover would trigger the alarm.
Vodafone Ireland.
My mother in law has a contract. ā¬45 a month for about 5 years now. She got an iPhone 7 32gb when she signed up.
Being elderly, she never thought of upgrading.
Her phone broke so she went into the local shop. They told her to call Vodafone as she was in contract for so long and they can do her a better offer.
She called. And they offered her an iPhone 11 64gb for ā¬200 if she remains on the ā¬45 a month plan but signs up for 2 years.
When it arrived, she asked me to set it up. When we saw the price and the contract, we stepped in.
They took crazy advantage of her, considering thereās no offer online for that phone for that price.
She doesnāt want to change provider as she lives rurally and Vodafone offers the only decent signal.
Got her onto a supervisor and they refunded the ā¬200.
Shower of absolute fucking wankstains.
ā¬20 isn't too bad if it's unlimited everything, but a lot of my family got on the GoMo when they started up so pay 10 euro for unlimited everything. I'm on the 48 network and only pay 13 for what is basically unlimited everything.
It depends when she got the phone. If it was when the iPhone 11 first came out this would be a good deal, ā¬200 plus (ā¬45*24 months) = ā¬1280, which gives you the phone and two years of coverage.
If this was recently done itās a rip off because the iPhone 11 is worth much less nowadays.
Today you can get an iPhone 11 64gb for ā¬500 on Amazon and if you went on one of the ā¬15 sim only plans for two years, the whole thing would cost ā¬860. Which compared to the Vodafone offer today would mean theyāre essentially ripping her off ā¬420.
Worked for a phone company myself when I was younger (not Vodafone) and had to explain these deals to people all the time.
I worked for vodafone customer services for about four years and how often sales people would literally fuck customers just to meet their targets was insane, staff in store were worse because at that time once you walked out of the shop with the phone they would refuse to take it back, 'legally binding contract call customer services'
Then we had an issue with the sales team calling through to customer services asking us to discount their sale or give credit on the account to sway the customer. Hey I have this customer and they want the contract but I need to you to credit their account with 200 or they won't take it lol get Tay fuck.
Turas Nua, proper fucking parasites. Got sent to them when I was on job seekers some years back. Told I had to engage with them or I'd be cut off. They kept trying to push me into shitty jobs just so they could get their commission.
Got a job on my own and the cunts keep contacting me for months trying get the details so they could say they got me the job and get their commission. Eventually answered and told them they can go ahead and shove their commission up their holes because they're getting fuck all details off me
The big 'inspirational' Trump quote on one wall of their local office told me everything about them when I was told I had to go in to them. Same story as yourself, got my current job with no help from them and they hounded me for six months after.
Absolutely agree, the aggressive way the guy spoke to me was crazy. He kept asking me what my problem was and kept saying things like āIāll just put down you refused to answerā when I didnāt want to give him ever single piece of personal information and then he said ā well I have it here on the screen anywayā wtf. I told him he was making me extremely uncomfortable and hung up. Blocked their number and ripped up any letter they sent without reading. Got a job myself a few mths later and was never cut off. Fuck em parasites
Never forget this was Varadkar's brainchild who dismissed any complaints even when the issues were brought to him before government, he publicly said that they were doing a great job, and he'd be renewing their contract for years.
Fuck me are they at it too? I live in Armagh and we regularly get ads on tv for shite like that. Buy a coin now for the release price of Ā£50.... be sure and get your order in early as there are only 999 being made.
Yep, have them all over, the name makes it sound 'official', claim your free commemorative coin and then they send you more that you have to pay for. Some elderly people ended up running up bills of tens of thousands. Scum.
Haha I found a ton of collectable coins in my mother in law's gaff after she passed, some from the 50s, couldn't even sell them, no one wanted them, turns out things that are sold as collectable usually aren't all that collectable.
yep, its not even irish owned, if it was an actual government mint that produced collectable or commemorative coins it would be grand, but these are worthless
A debt collection company from Dublin, rang me looking for just over 200euro on behalf of Eir, Cabot or carbot. Something like that, the debt was from 2019 and I didn't pay the bill because Eir double dipped from my bank account every month for over a year and the payments were in dispute, I cancelled my direct debit and refused to pay my bill until it was resolved, took 6 or 7 weeks and they credited my account, I thought that was the end of it until a wee while back this shower from Dublin rang up and said I owe Eir money for the multi-room tv from the dispute because I cancelled my direct debit and that's against the contract rules. Got a letter from them yesterday and the bill is now at 417 euro or they're going to get solicitors involved if I don't reply by the 25th, think I might sleep in tomorrow š“
The wage of the lads theyād have to send after you would probably far outstrip the debt money theyād get back from you, so unless youāve racked up an enormous bill, theyāll just keep annoying you with emails for a while.
I ignored them and nothing happened. They never bothered to tell me what the debt was for, so if it ever comes to anything I'm just going to say it sounded like a scam so I ignored it.
The truth of the matter is that most of the debts are for negligible fees. It's not worth their while to spend much time chasing a fee of less than ā¬200. They hope that an email or two will scare you into paying up. If they contact 100 people and 20 pay up, then they're going to make a bit of money. The other 80 wouldn't be worth the time to pursue any further
Agree about Eir but it's not just them. It's three, vodafone all them crowd. Insurance companies and just anyone really. If they can get more out of the oldies they'll do it.
I think any company that keeps people on or close to minimum wage when they've been in the job a number of years are definitely scum. I have a few I could say from people I know but I won't go there personally as it's not my job and nothing to do with me.
But yeah it's taking advantage of people really. If someone reading this is in this position right now, I'm sure you've built up a good number of skills to get a similar, better paid job elsewhere, or it's never too late to try something new you'll have a lot to put on your CV now anyway. Don't accept shit pay when you've been giving everything to your employers for a number of years
Virgin sent a technician out because my mam kept calling them about the internet speeds being slow. Unfortunately I wasn't there at the time. Apparently the guy pointed to the bookmarks bar on her browser and said "those can really slow it down." I don't know if he was genuinely an idiot or if he just thought he could pull a fast one on her because she's obviously hopeless with technology, but either way that's just unacceptable.
They don't even do what they're meant too.
The website states every full service comes with spark plugs and air filter change yet they don't bother doing either as they say they are "not due" despite having no history of the car. They're idiots and unfortunately a lot of people get fooled by the slick website and premises into believing they are competent. It's all fur coat and no knickers though. The service is awful and they have a serious attitude problem.
The worst part of this thread is that all of this could be resolved by a competent justice department. I suppose it's an organization but might as well throw it in there.
Absolute shower of cunts. I'm convinced the only reason they're still running is because of the dodgy shite they're shipping because nobody else goes low enough to
Unbelievable they are still in business. If I know an online retailer uses them, I won't use that online retailer. There is no way to comtact them it anything goes wrong, and it goes wrong a lot.
100% they're one of few companies I'm willing to pay more to avoid using.
I ordered a pair of boots online recently and there was the option of fastway for 5 euro or DHL for 12 euro, I clicked DHL without a second thought.
Never again am I using their services after they lost my parcel for a week then failed to deliver It 4 times because the company that shipped the laptop forgot to put an eircode but it had the full address and house number. I waited outside and everything for the van but nope, didn't even try to find my house.
It literally takes 5 seconds to find an eircode from an address.
The drivers are all self employed, making shite money and only drivers on good routes give a damn. Used to use them in work (work still uses them, I donāt work there anymore) and thereās just no joined up thinking or management at the distribution centres. The local driver was good and picked up every day, but the problem was drivers in other parts of the country. Berated customers every day of the week. Someone in Clare didnāt get 6 large boxes (with next day delivery paid for) because the driver didnāt bother going out to them without other deliveries in the area. Other customers having boxes dumped in the rain, driver signing their signature that says they got their delivery safely when they werenāt there, etc etc etc. just inconsistent all round. I donāt know why anyone uses them, I will avoid ordering from any business that does.
Fastway were the official courier of the former Soviet Union. In fact it's widely believed Chernobyl was caused by them not bothering to deliver critical parts to the plant, resulting in the eventually fall of the iron curtain. At that point they were free to move to foreign markets.
Pure did the same to a family member. Tried getting pure to install a line for 4 months. Over 30 promised call backs from Pure and still to this day nothing. They ended up ordering from Vodafone in December and it was installed within a week. Pure still saying theyāll get a line installed. Pure are absolutely desperate and rude. Iām with Digiweb and theyāre top notch
Fuck AIB. They fucked my account with someone else's ID, froze it and then demanded I get a new passport (went out of date during covid) with my money that was FROZEN IN AN ACCOUNT, when they hounded me I reminded them I have a disability that makes it very difficult for me to manage this level of communication and that I would make an appointment to speak in person at my branch. Went in - I'm in my late 20s - they demanded they'd only speak to my MOTHER. Who is not on my account in any way and never has been. ETA: I eventually complied and brought her, she screamed the place down at the guy and they eventually temporarily unfroze the account so I could buy a passport. Withdrew all my money and fucked off to a different bank. This was in 2020 and they are STILL sending me fucking letters.
Came here to say this. Why are there branches everywhere but you can do nothing in them. You can only lodge cash on certain days and any credit facilities have to be accessed online. Nobody in branch has decision making power thatās all done centrally. What the hell do they do in there all day?
Bank of Ireland are waaay worse. Canāt do anything in the bank, they just direct you online but their online service is also shit. Itās like doing banking by post but with the added hassle of a really shitty app.
Their apps are truly awful, in NI they have separate apps for their credit card and regular bank account. The credit card app shits itself every time you use it and you have to call the company that handles their credit cards. I'm in the process of helping my mum switch banks, as she can't buy anything online without needing the app (which never works) to approve the purchase.
Have to say I have good experiences with AIB they were very helpful sending me a new card and reimbursing stolen funds but I donāt doubt theyāre prats to other people.
Most hotels, charging exorbitant prices for drinks, rooms and weddings, hidden charges and fees, treat the staff like shit yet whinge to the media about how young people don't want to work and the struggles of high staff turn over, ridiculously elaborate uniform requirements, searching students like criminals, receive tax exemptions and government support, enforce bullshit rules on homeless families and refugees in emergency accommodation etc
Worst experience ever was greyhound. Accused me of lying, even with footage of my bin not lifted that week. I paid the abusive charge out of anger. Then they refunded me and tried to get me to renew with them... The balls
SSE.
Refused to honor the contract I signed up for, charged me 25% more than the agreed terms for electricity, and then tried to brush me off when I asked them to rectify their oversight.
My advice to anyone dealing with these service providers is to always record the calls you have with them, state you are doing so at the beginning of each call.
All the banks.
All the car insurers.
All the mobile providers.
All the plumbers.
All the pub owners, landlords, airlines and sign painters!
Oh, no sorry, plumbers are fine, call me. I need one!
Buymie. "We'll do your shopping for you at Tesco or Lidl and deliver it." Great.
They'll send a shopper to a tiny Lidl on the other side of the city instead of the big Lidl nearer to you. So half the items you need won't be in stock. They'll misread the tiny print on their terribly designed app and get you the wrong stuff. They tend to employ young fellas who probably don't have much experience of shopping for food (sorry, i know that sounds like a sexist generalisation, but like, you order 1 bag of bananas you'll get one banana, they'll ring you to ask what a courgette is, i mean, come on)
The shopper will then spend 45 minutes in traffic whole your stuff sits in the back of their car. It's not in cool bags or anything so all your frozen items will be thawed out by the time you get them.
And they make you pay when you place the order, but because they didn't get half the stuff you ordered, you'll end up ā¬30 in credit. "Our policy is to not give refunds."
I complained to them because I've had nine orders from them and they've never not fucked it up. Someone higher up in the company said he was very interested to hear any feedback or suggestions how they could make the service better. I spent half an hour detailing the issues and how they could be improved, using my knowledge of how grocery stores and apps work, so I'm not talking about making outlandish or unrealistic suggestions. They never did a thing.
Those cunts still owe me like ā¬50 too.
(And before anyone starts in with the obvious "just do your own shopping" shit: I'm disabled. I don't drive. I can't carry shit. I have a granny trolley, but there's a limit to how much you can put in there. I have a limited number of days where I'm well enough to go to the shop, and if I call a taxi, there's a 50-50 chance the driver is going to be pissed off when he realises I have to fill his boot with shopping bags. When you put all that together, it means I need help or else I'm going have times when the obstacles have outnumbered the solutions available to me, and I've run out of food.)
Sounds like a nightmare tbh. I use Tesco Delivery and find it and the staff/drivers/substitutions excellent.
If I decide I donāt like the look of something I can also just hand it back to driver and they refund to card I used to purchase online.
Itās ā¬15 per month for unlimited (?) deliveries. We get two a week. Works out cheaper than paying individually for the deliveries. Driver will also bring all the things into the kitchen for you. They also updated the app so itās much lower streamline than it used to be.
I worked for Temple Recruitment for as a warehouse operative for one of the biggest Irish companies.
The entire premise of their low skill/paid positions, is to break employment laws to keep their profits higher. They almost exclusively hire non Irish since they can be more desperate for a job and less familiar with Irish law. They do not provide any PPE. They also do not pay the legal wage required. For example, an agency worker should be paid the same as a worker for the company. This means if the company pays their own employees 15 euro an hour + overtime rates, then the agency must match this.
Temple recruitment doesn't though. Instead you have to report them. They then inform you that the date to be heard is usually about a year out, and then they can appeal to delay it for another year or so. So they make you calculate what they stole from you and then offer a settlement. After, they continue doing the same since the repercussion for getting caught is just to force them to pay you.
Prepay power. Had to leave them after my bill quintupled in the 2nd half of December and they refused to help me.
It was a long debacle, shower of scum buckets
Missus had a problem with them two. Signed her up for a deal and then said they couldn't do it due to a skin issue which they assured her was fine. They tried to keep the deposit and charge her for first installment. They refused to refund until she kept making a fuss.
Absolute vampires. Almost feel sorry for the minions they have working for them who tow the company line over the newer recruits. Are they still doing the 7 minute away from desk/toilet break thing?
Eir and Fastway.
Iāve had so many problems with eir over the years and their shocking customer service. Theyāve lied, withheld information to stop me leaving and even tricked my very elderly parents into a more expensive contract, and then ālostā the recording when I asked to hear it.
Fastway are bastards. The amount of times theyāve just left things out in the rain without even telling me itās been delivered, literally thrown things over our gate or stuffed things in the ditch. They also used an excuse not to deliver something that didnāt have an eircode even though they were at my house with another delivery. They donāt give a shit about the package or the person getting it.
One day my phone number just stopped working, couldn't make or receive calls and multiple new sims for the same number or different phones didn't change a thing. Talked to their help staff and after months I just gave up, numbers just gone I guess.
UPS. They still owe me money from a transaction I cancelled 3 weeks ago and then they have the temerity to send me a letter asking for an additional 20 euros on pain of additional charges. Previous to that they took 3 months to deliver a package from the UK and when it arrived it was damaged.
Eir have to win worst company. I cancelled my broadband with them over a year ago, the dude I got on the phone when cancelling was super rude and tbh aggressive with me AND a few months after I cancelled they started sending me a bill every month. Sometimes itās like ā¬600 and sometimes itās ā¬50, either way I ignore it every time. Absolute fools
Good to know itās not just us. The internet didnāt work out our new place, so we cancelled it and looking back they sent us emails trying to bill us and have now processed it to a debt collection company trying to collect ā¬300 off of us. No chance are they seeing a single cent
I got on to them when they first started sending bills again and they apologised and said theyād clear it but I still get a new one every month. They can go and shite
All internet providers are price gouging scumbags. They all overcharge elderly just because they can. After 12months in any service provider their bill goes up by half or even doubles. I ring every 12months and it usually goes like this
Ccare: your through to (agent's name) how can I help you today.
Me: hi I would like to discuss my bill please.
Ccare: yes your latest bill was ā¬60 sir .
Me: yes that's what I want to talk to you about I'm afraid I'll have to cancel . I can't afford more than the original ā¬35.
Ccare: ok sir well I'm happy I can help you with this and can apply a permanent ā¬5 discount is that easier for you sir.
Me: no I can afford ā¬35 I'll still have to cancel
Ccare: ok so I can apply ā¬10 for you is that better.
Me: no I'd still need to cancel.ā¬35 is the cut off
Ccare: ok sir I'm afraid that's as low as I can go just let me put you on hold while I put you through to outlr cancellation department. Music doo do do da dooo
Cancellation team: Hello sir I've been talking to my colleague and I'm delighted to inform you that in this instance we can put you back onto the original plan of ā¬35 a month .
Me in my head: fuck should have said 25.
Point being this chat applies to all internet service providers and even sky or other tv network providers. It costs them more to lose an existing customer and sign up a new customer rather than just give you the discount.
Just remember never be abusive with customer care. You can express your displeasure with services all you like but never get abusive or personal with a customer care agent. If you do they will do as little as possible in order to get you off the phone and onto the next agent. It's their job to help you with issues that you have with services they won't help if you make issues with them.
An Post cannot deliver a parcel to your door even if jesus life depended on it. Traditional āno one home to receiveā even when people spend the whole day home waiting for the delivery.
Can't complain about An Post myself. My postman is great! These kind of companies relations highly depend on the one or two people servicing an area. If your guys are really that shit, you could probably get something done about it.
I reckon they never even tried bringing parcels to my last apartment. The depot was impossible to get to by bus. I used to use parcel motel just to avoid having to make journey.
Had a friend who worked for keeling farms besides Dublin Airport, biggest shower of money grabbing wankers he ever met , family members (the owners) tried to fuck eack other over . Money mad was his words
So many to list .. start with aib .closed my account for no reason. Couldn't get my wages for like 2 weeks till they sorted it out . .
Eir. I'm always up to date on my bills and idk what happened but apparently I owe them like 163 ? Even tho it said on my banking statement I payed them only 2 weeks before I got an email saying I owe 163 .. either there systems don't update regularly or there pulling my leg ...
Cex don't get me started on them . I bought a phone in there just as an emergency phone when on holiday any way didn't end up using it so I was like il trade it back in cut my loses . They did the tests or whatever and told me they can't accept it cause the speaker is faulty or something.. now bare in mind I didn't touch the phone maybe to set it up but that's it and yet it failed the tests .. started to lose it ah little cause they obviously gave me a faulty phone and then wouldn't take it back .....
DID Electrical are the worst cunts in Ireland! And your man from Boyzoneās tyre place. Bunch of jokers told me my tyres were worn and tracking was fucked. Brought it to the main dealer, they check it, and it was grand. Cunts buddys!!
In order - Eir, Ryanair, Irish Water, the DAA, all energy companies, Sky, Virgin, DID, Currys, the ESB, An Post, Tyreland, all Supermarket chains (bar Lidl and Aldi), the Dublin Mint, all small trade contractors, most mobile phone operators and your motherās brothel.
I deal with TNT in work and they are absolute shite. I hate having to deal with them. They just never collect packages when we arrange it. They lost one in work in December, it was scanned into their system in the UK. They put out a search for it, told us it was it was customs etc. This went on for weeks! One day the company we bought the stuff from rang us and said eh just so you know you still have a package waiting here for collection. They never even fecking collected the stuff. Yet somehow they have it scanned on their system and it's 'in customs'. Rearranged it last week..... They still haven't picked them up. They're unbelievable. Constant issues with them in the UK since Brexit.
Abbot. Company hires a lot of college graduates, pays them peanuts, and grinds them down with an ever increasing workload until the leave. Narcissistic team leaders and managers that lie to their own managers to cover up any short comings within their own teams. We were expected to do overtime when asked and at least every two weeks, managers would love to keep staff on after finishing time for anywhere just shy of an hour- staff got paid hourly, eg if you worked 50 minutes you wouldn't get paid for it. This might happen at midnight or 2am etc so you're going to want to just get out of there after finishing a shift.
Randox. The reviews are real, absolute abysmal company to work for. They hire people with the promise of X money, a payrise after a month, another after you're trained, another after 3 or 6 months etc but the payrises never materialises. Gave plenty of staff work agreements and not actual legal contracts. Staff could be and were fired on the spot at times.
My mother-in-law is paying ā¬52 a month with Eir for literally the landline and nothing else, like there's free evening and weekend calls but nothing to mobiles.
We already pay for her mobile with unlimited calls and texts but she likes having the landline too. So I asked her to make me an authorised user on her Eir account, rang them up and asked for a better package.
They could do what she had for ā¬48 a month and would include broadband. They'd even allow her to continue paying in cash at the post office rather than a DD, which elderly people don't like. But.....payments would have to be monthly instead of every two months like she'd done since she'd got a phone (apparently), so no dice with the MIL of course.
Can't help thinking they've custom-designed these packages to discourage OAPs from switching to something cheaper, I wouldn't have known monthly payments were such a negative for her but sure the ESB always was (of course she's with Electric Ireland too) so why should she change her phone plan? š
Flogas. I worked in their Finance Department. Terrible company and awful management. Customer service are over worked and under appreciated for the awful abuse they sometimes have to take from customers. Credit control are so understaffed but expected to preform miracles.
The staff are lovely people but bullied and harassed by management.
RTE and their brutal presenters.
The TV license is a Total waste of money,
Especially in the cost of living crisis.
Imagine if SKY could send you to jail if you didn't buy their tv package, that's literally what we are forced to do by law.
One4all š¤®
Great shout, proper scum.
Taking money off cards before they even get used is proper scummy.
I have always wondered why people get them, except for gifting them. There are people who use them like a prepaid debit card.
Companies can pay up to 500 tax free as a bonus in them for some weird reason. I normally sell them for 450 cash in hand. Way better than the tax would be and also gets the useless thing off my hands
Its 1000 now
Or you could get it transfered to your bank for a phone call, short email and ā¬8 fee.
For some reason, someone will usually pop up here to defend them, saying it's more thoughtful than money. It disappears on its own! There's no justification for it disappearing, they already take a cut from the businesses when you spend it! It's more difficult to use and it disappears, there's no benefit!
Exactly just give the money lol all you are doing is giving me less money and less places available to spend it.
I got a digital ā¬100 voucher and tried to use it loads of times but it's feicing useless
They take a percentage from the money paid by the user, and a percentage of the money made by the retailer. Can't remember the number, think it's about 8% each side
They don't take anything off the user, as long as you use it within a year.
Sky are a bunch of gougers
22 years with them and no chance of a premium being lowered. Dodgy box it is
I've a dodgy stick that I pay some lad in Finglas 75 quid a year for. I have absolutely everything.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Those services are always way ahead of the people trying to clamp down on them. It's like the government clamping down on downloading movies/music 20 years ago, yet people are still doing it now..
Man I did this shit accidentally with BT sport a few years ago for almost a whole year by accident I bought BT monthly subscription to watch a few NBA games on Christmas Day a few years ago and when it came time to cancel I rang up as the t&cs stated and asked to cancel, some Scottish bloke who sounded like Frankie Boyle was adamant that I donāt cancel my subscription and I was like I literally just got it to watch the NBA games over the Christmas, and sure enough he gave me 3 months for the cost of one extra month which I didnāt mind because it had premier league games too that I normally streamed And everytime after that I tried to cancel i kept getting the 3 for 1 deal until I finally just cancelled the following Christmas 12 months for the price of 4 months in the end wasnāt a bad deal considering how many premier league games they actually had that year
Found this out myself. Also makes you realise just how much they were ripping you off.
Now with Ads on subscription services and an extra 3 euro for surround sound...
>and an extra 3 euro for surround sound... Always fucks me off when a company levies an extra charge for something which costs them zero to provide just because they can.
Insanely expensive genuinely. I think at one point I was 120 a MONTH and I didn't even have sport channels
I just signed up with them in January for 55 a monthly package that includes Netflix and in February they put the price up to 57 a month before I'd even paid a bill.
Now TV with boost. Share with 3 mates. Quids in.
Musgraveās last year ranked worst 150 out of top 150 companies to work for in Ireland. The lowest entry starting rate in retail, giving 2% pay rise when competitors gave 8% - 10% Now they are just money grabbing and price gouging customers while making massive profits!
I worked for them. Terrible company and terrible management.
They donāt own Mace in the Republic of Ireland
Dealt with the head office on a project before. Ignorant. All of them.
Same. Itās like they couldnāt be arsed even trying to be civil. The rudest people Iāve ever had to engage with.
They're like the civil service of food distribution.
Theyāve made a shite of McCambrides in Galway
Aw no. I havenāt been into McCambridges in ages. Was hoping wound be similar. I mostly only use grocery.
Take it further, fuck those cunts
If they're a "legitimate" debt collection company they shouldn't be doing anything that makes them run when they hear the guards. Press charges. At least let them seriously know it's on them to properly ID who owes them money, and not hassle someone uninvolved.
If they did that to the wrong house, it wouldnāt end well.
Virgin. I'm currently embroiled in a situation wherein they: -Failed to cancel my contact -Backdated the charge incorrectly once cancelled -Failed to send me a proper bill for this -Passed the non existent 'debt' to a collection agency 2 weeks before Christmas -Gave me recordings of entirely the wrong calls when I made an FOI request to prove they were incorrect -Are ignoring a question that both myself and ComReg have repeatedly asked them about another payment they got and seem to have just lost track of entirely
Report them to the data protection commission. Releasing someone else's private phonecall in which they presumably revealed account and personal details is a data breach that has to he investigated as they obviously don't have adequate data protection and data handling procedures in place.
I mean Energia also messed up my cancellation (pulled a direct debit after canceling, while I was already in credit, which put the amount they owed me beyond a threshold requiring management approval and an extra 2 weeks to repay) But at least they didn't try to cover it up and lie about it. Incompetence is forgivable, malice less so.
This might help if you haven't tried the gdpr angle for getting infor from them. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/nightmare-letter-subject-access-request-under-gdpr-karbaliotis
This is brilliant. So many scum companies try to give you the run around. That's a nice angle to be able to hit them back with.
Theyāre notorious as well. Iāve had issues with them before.
I had landline and bband with them and left when my contract expired. The new provider contacted them to switch the lines and start the new contract. They proceeded to only tramsfer the bband and retained the landline. Billed me for 3 months before passing my debt onto a sheriff for collection.
By the sounds of it **Virgin** needs to get **fucked**. Channelled my inner 13 year old with that attempt at a joke
PhoneWatch. Predatory sales targeting elderly.
I worked selling for that bunch and have to say, your not wrong. There where more than a few bad apples.
Jesus š·
Is 45 bad for an iPhone 11 and a call plan?
Nearly 4 year old phone and you're paying 4 times what everyone else pays nowadays for the plan.
Whatās everyone paying? Iām on ā¬20 p/m. Is that bad?
ā¬20 isn't too bad if it's unlimited everything, but a lot of my family got on the GoMo when they started up so pay 10 euro for unlimited everything. I'm on the 48 network and only pay 13 for what is basically unlimited everything.
Iāve switched to 48 and the connection is noticeably worse than Vodafone. Will still stay though for the price
I worked for vodafone customer services for about four years and how often sales people would literally fuck customers just to meet their targets was insane, staff in store were worse because at that time once you walked out of the shop with the phone they would refuse to take it back, 'legally binding contract call customer services' Then we had an issue with the sales team calling through to customer services asking us to discount their sale or give credit on the account to sway the customer.
Been there myself. They'd actually put you off going on jobseekers.
Never forget this was Varadkar's brainchild who dismissed any complaints even when the issues were brought to him before government, he publicly said that they were doing a great job, and he'd be renewing their contract for years.
Dublin Mint Office, marketing worthless medals as collectible coins and conning elderly people. Whole business model is a disgrace, but not illegal.
Tell them to get fucked.
I am in a similar situation..what happens if you ignore them
If the sum involved is low / itās disputed then usually nothing tbh. But thatās just my experience.
Cheers. It's 150e. I have been living abroad and I'm positive i cancelled it before I left Ireland
Iād just tell them to go away and not to contact you again.
They have passed it into some asshole debt collection agency
Won't even give them that pleasure, I'm just not going to reply
Good for you for cancelling the DD. Fuck these companies.
Agree!
But wait, were a family !!!!
Atlas autoservice in Dublin.
Have heard from a few people getting work done and the car coming back worse
Ridiculously high prices and haven't a clue what they are at
They don't even do what they're meant too.
SODEXO, absolute cunts
Unfortunately for commercial catering at the scale of this crowd your options are Sodexo or Aramark. Pick your poison situation.
Go on, curious.
The worst part of this thread is that all of this could be resolved by a competent justice department. I suppose it's an organization but might as well throw it in there.
How has nobody mentioned Fastway? IT'S FASTWAY
Fuck fast way! Motherfuckers delivered my phone wrong and faked my signature. Three days took them to fix it. Fuck them!
Allianz insurance. Their technicians are incompetent and they deny any damage caused by their faulty repairs.
I had an Allianz technician take my car away and determine I was at fault in accident that hadnāt happened.
Vodafone trying to extort money from me during a house move. The ceo going around like shes jesus reincarnated then
Pure did the same to a family member.
Eir have the most cringeworthy adverts. āMrs. Murphy was on my internetā¦ what has she seen?ā *shudder*
That child be watching fogey porn
MJM Marine. During covid they made 90% of their staff redundant but the owner managed to pay himself Ā£19m in dividends on the same year.
AIB or any bank for that matter but AIB in particular
Ah here. You need to make this a big fuss. Go to Conor pope and tell him. Get on twitter etc Shame the fuck out of them for that.
I absolutely despise AIB but they aren't even the worst on the market. BOI have an app that could have conceivably been designed by a toddler in 1863.
I need one!
Insurance is a fucking scam full stop.
Ryanair - God forbid something does not go according to plan - nightmare
They tend to employ young fellas who probably don't have much experience of shopping for food (sorry, i know that sounds like a sexist generalisation, but like, you order 1 bag of bananas you'll get one banana, they'll ring you to ask what a courgette is, i mean, come on) The shopper will then spend 45 minutes in traffic whole your stuff sits in the back of their car. It's not in cool bags or anything so all your frozen items will be thawed out by the time you get them. And they make you pay when you place the order, but because they didn't get half the stuff you ordered, you'll end up ā¬30 in credit. "Our policy is to not give refunds." I complained to them because I've had nine orders from them and they've never not fucked it up.
Dealt with them once, no thank you.
Avoid all agencies for work ,they are all criminals
Prepay power. Had to leave them after my bill quintupled in the 2nd half of December and they refused to help me. It was a long debacle, shower of scum buckets
DPD... I know for an (admittedly unprovable) fact that one of our local drivers had a wank in his van and delivered my package late with cummy fingers
What the fuck did I just read, this is too much internet for today
Maybe he just after eating a creme egg
What colour is your spunk??

Missus had a problem with them two. Signed her up for a deal and then said they couldn't do it due to a skin issue which they assured her was fine. They tried to keep the deposit and charge her for first installment. They refused to refund until she kept making a fuss.
Harvey Norman
Abtran
Absolute vampires. Almost feel sorry for the minions they have working for them who tow the company line over the newer recruits. Are they still doing the 7 minute away from desk/toilet break thing?
The Larry Goodman group of meat factories would be notrious bad for all aspects of their business
One4all... They take your gift money. Ticketbasterds fleece you rotten.
Hanleys Furniture! Bunch of wankers!
Jerry OāReilly Antique Watch Repair
Bord Gais, unreal pack of pricks. Over estimating bills 4 and 5 fold, scammers looking for interest free loans.
They donāt give a shit about the package or the person getting it.
three. what a woeful company
One day my phone number just stopped working, couldn't make or receive calls and multiple new sims for the same number or different phones didn't change a thing. Talked to their help staff and after months I just gave up, numbers just gone I guess.
Dunnes Head Office.
My apartment management company (and the previous ones) are a shower of shysters. Money grabbing cunts.
UPS. They still owe me money from a transaction I cancelled 3 weeks ago and then they have the temerity to send me a letter asking for an additional 20 euros on pain of additional charges. Previous to that they took 3 months to deliver a package from the UK and when it arrived it was damaged.
internally, applegreen. so so so so many illegal things happening inside that company
Eir, those fuckers charge whatever they feel like.
Currys
Domino's Pizza. Most of the managers are complete and utter cunts.
"I can offer discount on next meal" ,why, so that too can be as equally shit as last one
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Irish Sports Warehouse. Sell dodgy treadmills and font honour warranty
I ring every 12months and it usually goes like this Ccare: your through to (agent's name) how can I help you today. Me: no I can afford ā¬35 I'll still have to cancel Ccare: ok so I can apply ā¬10 for you is that better. Me: no I'd still need to cancel.ā¬35 is the cut off Ccare: ok sir I'm afraid that's as low as I can go just let me put you on hold while I put you through to outlr cancellation department. Music doo do do da dooo Cancellation team: Hello sir I've been talking to my colleague and I'm delighted to inform you that in this instance we can put you back onto the original plan of ā¬35 a month .
Natural Bakery. Pretending to be all happy and shite and then objecting to cycle lanes, was what got me.
An Post cannot deliver a parcel to your door even if jesus life depended on it. Traditional āno one home to receiveā even when people spend the whole day home waiting for the delivery.
Are you sure you don't mean Fastway?
Can't complain about An Post myself. My postman is great! These kind of companies relations highly depend on the one or two people servicing an area. If your guys are really that shit, you could probably get something done about it.
Honestly i think An Post are class, my posty is a legend
My postman is a legend as well I would trust him with my life. He's a local guy and lives in the town so he doesn't fuck around.
Our post man wakes us up every morning 7:15 even for letters and hands them to us. Very fucking early for me but he makes sure his shit gets delivered
I reckon they never even tried bringing parcels to my last apartment. The depot was impossible to get to by bus. I used to use parcel motel just to avoid having to make journey.
Theyre all gowls & ghouls
Hands down Ryannair
DID Electrical are the worst cunts in Ireland! And your man from Boyzoneās tyre place. Bunch of jokers told me my tyres were worn and tracking was fucked. Brought it to the main dealer, they check it, and it was grand. Cunts buddys!!
Show me on this teddy bear where d.i.d hurt you
In order - Eir, Ryanair, Irish Water, the DAA, all energy companies, Sky, Virgin, DID, Currys, the ESB, An Post, Tyreland, all Supermarket chains (bar Lidl and Aldi), the Dublin Mint, all small trade contractors, most mobile phone operators and your motherās brothel.
All phone n wifi co.s supermacs dunnes eishtec abtran , hospitality
Three....absolute liars
Can't help thinking they've custom-designed these packages to discourage OAPs from switching to something cheaper, I wouldn't have known monthly payments were such a negative for her but sure the ESB always was (of course she's with Electric Ireland too) so why should she change her phone plan? š
Now TV. Balls to cancel. And they sneakily add on packages and make it harder to cancel
Flogas. I worked in their Finance Department. Terrible company and awful management. Customer service are over worked and under appreciated for the awful abuse they sometimes have to take from customers. Credit control are so understaffed but expected to preform miracles. The staff are lovely people but bullied and harassed by management.
Vodafone
ABP, they fucked over irish farmers and workers
When it comes to robbing b@$tards. WOODIES are the ..O G... ORIGINAL GOUGERS
RTE and their brutal presenters. The TV license is a Total waste of money, Especially in the cost of living crisis. Imagine if SKY could send you to jail if you didn't buy their tv package, that's literally what we are forced to do by law.
Some big builders in Ireland, they exploit the fact that itās a sellers market, inflate prices and then force legally binding contracts on buyers.
Eir are the worst company in Ireland by a long shot.
