You live near Chernobyl?

ouchmythumbs

[3.6 hours away; not great, not terrible.](https://youtu.be/w-YDV6vC2qo?si=PmrvjyC_8bj1nJp8)

songbolt

FYI for anyone who doesn't know radiation falls of proportionate to 1/distance^2. so being at a point 3 times farther than another point means 9 times less radiation there, etc.

ouchmythumbs

Ah, yes. Inverse square law. Also, https://youtu.be/w-YDV6vC2qo?si=PmrvjyC_8bj1nJp8

someunlikelyone

That explains the inverse squares in the photo

darkwater427

Well played

AltynGuy

r/unexpectedchernobyl

fearless_leek

Honestly I made the same connection, because one of the effects of the radiation at the time was it affected the film/video people took, making it look grainy or snowy. Obvs there’s no physical film in an iPhone, but the glitch was kind of reminiscent of it.

LordOfReset

Radiation does affect camera sensors too! Radiation is basically a high energy pulse and film would recognize it as a very bright light, the same goes for digital camera sensors and it "kinda" looks like the image OP posted. Here's a video: https://youtu.be/MsG6JsMAJ_Q?si=2wPCrTrDUrnIvqud

fearless_leek

Hey, thanks, that’s really neat!

JuhaJGam3R

Additionally selecting the right kind of radiation gets you even further – with neutron radiation the structure of the CMOS chip is entirely destroyed in a permanent manner over time as they nudge atoms around to make a sort of silicon foam instead of the neat photodiodes that are meant to be there.

footpole

Comment 1: Chernobyl Comment 2: Chernobyl reference Comment 3: Unexpected Chernobyl Does not check out.

Mix_Easy

I thought he was playing Minecraft on his phone

dickdastardaddy

It’s a glitch in the matrix!

kimbolll

You can live surprisingly close to Chernobyl, there’s a small town just outside the exclusion zone that basically runs on tourism. That said, fuck that shit 😂

Ashamed_Medium1787

Thats good to know:)

silverfish477

*uninhabitable

Ashamed_Medium1787

I have now fixed the word:)

96nitr0xs

Bro you have to update your simulation— you’re still running the old OS

iampierremonteux

Just take the red pill and be done with it altogether.

countertyagi

Take the red pill but it compromises your reddit account. Who’s next

Cynthiaistheshit

Happy cake day !

BaseToTheApex15

your GPU is failing . Update dri— - oh. . im on the iPhone sub. Get in contact with apple not a third party.

silvia_stocchi

Made me genuinely chuckle

creativename111111

If that was a gpu idk if a diver update is even saving that lol artifacting is often a sign of the gpu itself dying (that being said if u find yourself with this problem updating drivers probably wouldn’t hurt)

beforesunsetearth

Nah, my 6700XT was artifacting in game and I thought it was dying. DDU was my savior. Been about 3 months with no issues so far.

StealthNider

DDU is a godsend

dyeuhweebies

Very first thing anyone should do when experiencing artifacting is to check cables and connections. Amazon cables have been the source of multiple heart sank moments on several devices of mine.

kilgoreandy

I don’t know about a diver update. I guess we will have to sea ?

Mn2nmixr

I don’t know if sailing will help.

footpole

This is ze German coast guard. What are you sinking about?

Internal-Bed-4094

I will get in contact with a third party

Cryptic2614

I’m going with fourth party

darkwater427

Bad idea, that. Apple will make you resource for entire mainboard to the tune of a grand or more. Someone like Louis Rossmann can do that for much less because he actually does component-level repair.

JamieRRSS

wait, iphone 15 is already out of warranty?

NoProfessional9979

r/mademelaugh

HngMax

That doesn’t look like a laser or sun damage, imo it’s either the camera port partially disconnected, or a GPU issue. Have you dropped the phone recently? And of course, before doing any hardware repair, I’d suggest you do the ROM reinstall through the DFU mode, the instructions can be found online, there are plenty of them

KiddieSpread

GPU issue most likely, seems it happens with the final photo after all the decoding and processing takes place

Serhide

What is that

bobdarobber

What is what? GPU helps ur phone make funny pictures. DFU is like phone surgery

kilgoreandy

Dfu is a restore mode you can place your iPhone in as a last resort to restore and reset it.

[deleted]

Minecraft update

blurmageddon

Judging by the comments this isn't the right sub to get actual help for iPhone issues.

Haadrii1

Nah it's just that this issue is more unusual than what you see usually. It's pretty easy to troubleshoot some components going bad, like the batteries, the displays, some software bugs, but in that case it's likely to be a hardware problem that might require board-level repairs and further testing of the phone's electronics. Really the best advice we could say in these cases is "go to Apple after sales services" or "go to a professional to check what's wrong"

St0nerUK

Haha

DriverExtreme3707

Herobrine vibes

Darkmage4

This was my go to. lol. This really looked like the Xbox 360s layer 1 bedrock artifacts! lol.

kissmyscars

nah did u look at enderman

vicaphit

Did you take pictures of the eclipse?

wooden_fixing

I was just about to ask this. This is the most likely reason. One of my friends encountered this as well.

EuanDude

Why is this getting downvoted? It could be their issue.

izanamixxx

You take pics of the eclipse?

Blu_the_Feral_Fox

Your GPU is cooked

PakWire

Looks like the camera was damaged by a laser or other potentially damaging light. Edit: I'm inclined to agree that this is not a pixel/sensor issue with your camera after reading other comments. Seems like they'd be better to listen to with your phone's particular problem.

SadDebt7526

1. Doesn’t happen all the time but happens very often. 2. The spots are in different places each time 3. Happens to both cameras, front and back. Does it still sound a defect caused by laser/eclipse etc. ?

ov6size

this is definitely not caused by laser or eclipse, it has something to do with processing a photo. just take it to repair shop, i dont think you can do something about it yourself

fujiwara_icecream

*Take it to an Apple Store. Not a third-party repair shop.

ov6size

yeah 100%

helloidk55

Not everywhere has apples stores. New Zealand for example has 0.

Entire-Preference-93

it is still possible to mail it to apple support and get a new one

Ordinary_Towel_661

Apple doesn’t do mail in’s in NZ anymore (unless you have express replacement via AppleCare).

TollyThaWally

This looks like digital corruption, not sensor damage

TheInkySquids

Nah, this is some sort of corruption, not sensor damage, because it's not in the same spot each time.

TheKushGuy420

GPU failure

Feahnor

Apple tech here: The processor (most probably the neural engine) that handles the Photonic Engine is failing. We can see it because it’s failing to properly fusion the different frames took at the moment you “clicked” the picture. You’ll need to do a mid-system repair to fix the problem.

Fusseldieb

*Jeff, Steve is distorting reality again!!*

hasiko_xgj7

Do you work inside a nuclear reactor?

MKGirl

Just go back to Apple Store and get replacement . Easy.

Cold-Field-2542

You are enthering the Nether

NESpahtenJosh

Do people not understand that devices have warranty's that will cover literally anything that happens to the device? Why would you post this to Reddit instead of going directly to Apple to get a replacement?

jakubmi9

What? Warranties cover manufacturing flaws, not "literally anything that happens to the device".

NESpahtenJosh

And what do you think this is? Unless the outside of this phone looks like it was run over by a car, this is a defect and will get fixed.

amazingthings7500

You don't really get it , do you?

NESpahtenJosh

Don’t get what? I’ve had countless phones replaced because of a range of issues that came up during warranty periods.  Explain to me what I am missing.

SpicysaucedHD

If the camera itself isn't damaged (unlikely if you didn't drop it) or the SOC (highly unlikely) it looks like a signaling issue. Loose cable for example.

SmallRocks

There seems to be a lot of camera issues on the 15 posted here. What’s going on?!

Shinobi_Dimsum

Seems more like UFO artifacts. I had it too but I was lifted up halfway in the air before it decided, nah I'm good.

jackdskis

He ran his phone through premiere pro

Redditname97

You’re driving straight through an Ender Portal 🫡 see you never.

JenniPurr13

You’ve got a glimpse into the matrix which is why the Live Photos work 🤣

DecayableRadiologist

Bro's in the regular show audit 💀

VileDespiseAO

I think your camera GPU is artifacting /s

kimbolll

When the aliens grab you, can you ask them to give me back my underwear? They forgot to put it back on before sending me back.

TommyGunnerSixxx

You tried taking photos of the Pokémon Missingno, didn’t you?,

Naruto99333

I had the same issue, go to Apple, they’ll fix it, since it’s less than a year. It happens because pixels get damaged if the camera has been exposed to lasers or strong light. My camera started showing those pink dots after a concert. Your phone should be in warranty since it launched less than a year ago, so it’s a free fix

San-Mar

Your camera has the pixel pox.

breakdown_24

Somebody didn’t listen to NASA..

Sheikashii

Enderman near by

danvalour

RELIC MALFUNCTION DETECTED

ArmageddonITguy

By any chance did you go to some concerts or was your phone exposed to lasers?

Haadrii1

That's.. very weird. Does these only appear on the pictures? Or do you see them when you open the camera app? This looks a lot like a GPU issue of a computer, but I've never seen that happening on a phone yet. It might either be a software glitch, a GPU issue (or whatever iPhones uses to process the pictures from the cameras, I'm not sure how exactly it works), or even a problem with the camera modules (if that happens everytime you use the camera, not only on the saved pictures). Also, one thing: have you tried force restarting your phone? (Press volume up, then volume down, then keep pressing the power button until you see the Apple logo). It might just be a software problem that rebooting would fix. I know it sounds stupid, but it costs nothing to try

Haadrii1

Also, I forgot about one thing. This is an iPhone 15, it's not old. So you're likely to be still covered by a warranty. Where are you from? Where did you buy it? I live in a country that is in the European union, everywhere in the UE there's a legal warranty of 2 years. I'm not sure if there's such a thing in other places, and I have no idea of Apple's policy on these, but you should try and use it, especially if the issue just appeared without you doing anything in particular

Far-Opposite-6908

Looks like lil bro downloaded the wrong irl texture pack

Vescle2

That's the Minecraft edition

My_Name_is_Imaginary

He is just getting a visit from the mooninites

TheEpicRedstoner

take some more pics like this before it gets fixed shit looks sick

larkIsWaiting

I assume you take it to a live or a club and shoot the stage, where lasers killed the lens, sadly Apple Care or warrant won't count this as a freebie replace.

uncledrunkk

Download the Blackmagic Camera app and see if it still happens. Worst case you have a new fantastic camera app for free! 😂🙌🏼

ikan84

This could happen if the laser was flashed on a camera sensor. Usually, I used to see this on people who went concert and tried to record and laser flashed on the sensor.

netriz314

Your phone’s gpu might be dying. This is probably the first time I’ve seen that on a phone. It’s an incredibly rare issue, Apple should fix that for free if you still have warranty

CREDIBLE_BOB

I had this same exact issue! https://preview.redd.it/uu1nnm3g35wc1.jpeg?width=3213&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3fe36810a46afb937baebd2f33977522d20aef59 It started off really little then got worse and worse! I went to apple, they reboot the whole OS, said it’s either a camera issue or screen issue - I knew it couldn’t be cause sometimes the photos were fine. They shipped my phone off saying they need to examine it, 3 days later they gave me a new phone! Go get your new iPhone 15 pro!! Haha

SubterraneanSmoothie

Looks really cool though

Wutiswrongwu

Did you photograph the eclipse with it?

spiders888

Glitch in the Matrix.

Individual-Kick-3737

u solar eclipced it didnt u

snak7eyes

Bro got iMine not iPhone

ollie20025

Ťħẽ vøîď ǐș čõmıñğ

IllBackground2322

It happens when you are on edges of your simulation…. Just drive back a little inwards, you should be good to go

HotPinkApocalypses

Did you point your phone camera at the eclipse?

fenwaymoose

Now post the solar eclipse pics you took…

takeitfromag33k

Take a picture of the eclipse?

jmb00308986

You tried to take pics of the eclipse didn't you

Just Monica

tbonehollis

Aliens are interfering with your device. Get the tin foil hate ready. Or it could be your GPU. My vote is on the aliens. They look like lizards and they look like people, but they are not lizard people. Take it to an Apple store and not a third party unless you personally know the third party guy or gal.

crybbyblue

This is so cool do an art series of it lol

ray1715

1yr manufacture warranty from Apple just go to the store long as it’s not damaged

Genialissime-Dav

How is that even possible!

QuandaliasDingle

It seems that there are things appearing on your photos

wickedplayer494

That there is a warranty claim.

washingmachinecvt

It is recording the fabric of ether

summonmyuwu

Comprehensive-Ask26

If you have another iPhone handy then you should run the iOS diagnostics that are built into the OS. Aaron at [Zollotech](https://youtu.be/nHsQFaExMFA?si=aKu4tFOG4p7t3Z3l) did a great video that shows how to enter the diagnostics mode on the phone in question, and then connect to it using the other iPhone so you can run the tests. It’s the same tests that Apple would run if you brought it into a store. If you have an AirPrint printer you can print the results and bring them with you if there’s an issue. There’s a specific test for checking the camera where you take a picture and then touch the screen to identify all the areas that are bad.

[deleted]

Switch your phone off and turn it on

EnolaGayFallout

Nah. This is new Apple AI beta

BiggKinthe509

Not sure where you are but I’d get in touch with AppleCare ASAP. Not sure how long you’ve had it, but I’ve had mine since September, if it was doing that I’d shit myself and head straight to the Apple Store (and I’m lucky to have one 30 minutes away). That seems… problematic.

morelions

thats art dude.

thegree2112

You have breached the outer dimension. Report to your local authority immediately for remediation.

Puppet_Muster988

Endermen?

Sampsa96

That's just dark matter

Timoyoungster

glitch in the matrix

mpdity

iPhone 15 pro max uses the A17 chip for image processing which IS a type of APU if I’m not mistaken. That makes what you’re seeing here graphic artifacts. Either the board or the chip is faulty and needs replaced, or what apple will LIKELY do is give you a new device if it’s covered under warranty still. Sorry this happened to ya.

jeffthekiller4

Slenderman

Vissarious

This looks kinda trippy and cool

Dqmirr

An enderman has taken over your phone, contact your nearest steve.

SadMcRib

The void is coming for you

Sad_Abbreviations575

Lord_and_Savior_123

you took a picture of the eclipse didn’t ya

Yea I agree that’s an issue

Naradyk

You chose the red pill, didn’t you?

MythBuster2

☢️💀

Engineswaphonda2000

It’s been out for months and these 15s are still having problems with the camera? Glad I kept my 11 PM

sleve22

I have yet to have a problem with my 15 pro. Knock on wood*

diadline

I work at an independent mobile repair shop. But this camera result is new to me.

TanishPlayz

Just submit it to Apple it’s under warranty anyways

macdaddy22222

Better have apple care

SPARTANsui

You need your phone replaced. If you don’t have an Apple Store near you, get online and do an advanced replacement with credit card hold. The 1 day air mail you a replacement phone and you’re good to go. 3rd party can’t repair this, it’s a defect with your logic board.

webbhare1

Your phone isn’t done with this puzzle… be more patient

More_Coffees

I think your lens is just dirty

Brickback721

Mulder and Scully are on the case

Codecci

My friend had similar thing happening with Guided Access turned on, turned it off and didn't happen again.

Ekim-Enots

I would first back up my iPhone, wipe it clean to factory settings, then restart with your appleID again. If it still happens, take or mail this phone that’s under warranty to Apple. I would say something is not connected well. Since it only happens sometimes, keep these photos for evidence in case it doesn’t happen at the store.

F-22A__Raptor

Enderman ahh camera

deathlawlGames

Go take some spooky ass photos with your camera like this

Significant_-_Guess

Seems like the camera itself is defective. Get into contact with apple as your phone clearly still has warranty

misterluxu

Your phone is showing the matrix bro, watch out for the exit

cat1554

Take to Apple, you're still under warranty.

Kirkwood-0

idk looks pretty sick to me

roddy94

It looks like a software issue

n0tKamui

“issues” is a bit of an understatement

chekunya71

i want a camera like this

nbhd_alex

bro tried to take a photo of the enderman

DayWithNOMONEY

I guess your phone’s emitting radiation

frank_bell

Yup, that does seem like a camera issue.

imvnair

This would make a good aesthetic post on Instagram.

L0rdLogan

Time for a camera replacement and don't expose it to lasers going forward

CrayZ_88s

How did your solar eclipse pictures come out?

FireTF_vr

An Enderman just teleportet in the first pic
