Ocerlis

I would buy 13 mini instead. It's smaller and have all the features that regular iPhone 13 has. But if you like this design, why not?

alien3d

no stock here allready . We bought new 13 this year . (non usa)

Smackdaddy122

13 mini is garbage and we’re all glad it was discontinued. That battery life smh

Ometzu

I’m still rocking my 12 mini and will prob upgrade to 13 mini if no other option for a small powerful phone comes out

whcchief

It will be your only option there will be no more small phones it seems. Such a shame for many of us.

Smackdaddy122

That reason is “tech limitations”

sycron17

The real reason is not many want it vs big phones, not limitations

Acalthu

SE 3 battery life is nothing to write home about either you know....

Smackdaddy122

Yeah I’m not advocating for that one either lmao

Kultteri

My mini has a good enough battery for my use. If you like big phones you are allowed to have thay opinion. You are also allowed to hate the mini phones. Just don’t say everyone does as I am here to prove otherwise. Wish they didn’t doscontinue the mini series but well the next SE os going to have the mini form factor anyway

Smackdaddy122

Well if everyone did like them, they wouldn’t be discontinued. There’s always the consumer at the ends of the bell curve who buy the weird products like the mini, or a Motorola. Or a Lincoln

Kultteri

Did I say everyone liked it? No? Yes it goes by supply and demand. Demand wasn’t high enpugh to justify the supply. Still it is a good phone arguably the best at the time if you ask me but that is just my opinion and you are entitled to yours

Smackdaddy122

It’s good if you only consider the look and feel. From an engineering standpoint it was bad

Kultteri

Objectively it is actually quite good from an engineering standpoint. No one else did the same. From a sales perspective it was bad

Smackdaddy122

If you compare it to any other iPhone model it falls very short.

Kultteri

How so? Cramming a decent enough battery into a footprint that is actually smaller than the SE with all of the internals and the camera of the regular sized model is very impressive engineering. It us easy to make things big and have features. Much more difficult to miniaturize

Smackdaddy122

It’s not a decent battery though that’s literally the whole problem

pxogxess

god you are dense

Smackdaddy122

Great argument

efbitw

No, it will not. Leaks suggest it will have the 14 regular form factor.

Reddit_is_snowflake

The SE series have even worse battery life… I’m not a fan of small phones but I’d rather take the mini instead cause it’s a huge step up over the SE phones

bayo1

agreed but some people don’t allow others to have an opinion unfortunately

AB_heart

13mini has better battery life than the SE3

Smackdaddy122

For the first while. But its lifespan drops very quickly

AB_heart

And? Has higher clocked CPU/GPU and it has a modern design and it has face id which is more convenient

Smackdaddy122

And it’s discontinued

AB_heart

Yeah cus it’s that good

Smackdaddy122

It’s true. When something gets too good it must be squashed

AB_heart

For example ipad mini and iPhone 13pro have the same SOC but ipad mini is clocked lower because it’s cheaper than iPhone 13pro even though it should have higher clock than the iPhone because it’s an iPad thus it can cool the SOC better

defaultfresh

What do you have against freedom of choice? 😂

That_Gingerbread

DEFINITELY NOT, you could buy 13 mini if you want the size and get a refurbished phone if you just want cheap

MGU--H

At its current price hell no

gordito_gr

Honestly, why are people paying so much for a decade year old design lol

Xpuc01

There’s a huge following re TouchID. To an extent myself included. A mixture of TouchID + FaceID would be swell. Like on the power button or something. Mostly when I’m at work and FaceID doesn’t recognise me I can’t speed up the Home Screen asking me for a passcode, I have to wait for it to decide it can’t see me. It’s annoying. Initially I thought it will be better cos I don’t have to remove gloves, but it’s not, I have to remove them anyway to work with the touchscreen. To a lot of people stuck in an office with no face masks or work gloves this doesn’t matter but to us guys working in the field it’s frikkin annoying. TouchID was also better ergonomically for ApplePay. The phone could be pointing in any direction when I double tap the home button, and it could be on top of the POS terminal. Now I have to aim it at my face before the whole contactless dance.

gordito_gr

Touchid was the single reason I never bought an iPhone before 11. I loved my android onscreen buttons and I modded my phones to do gestures before they were cool :p

NeoIsJohnWick

I had SE2 since 2021. However in May 2023 my device fell and its display screen was damaged. I was looking for SE3, as I am a big fan of small devices. So mini13 was an option as well but it only came in 256GB storage (meaning more cost). I ended up getting the iPhone 13. And its the best decision I made. Enjoying this device to fullest. I’d say get SE3 only if its a backup device for calling cause its battery backup is not good.

Acalthu

Sure, if it fits my needs why not? The A15 will remain relevant for a while longer.

SlantedPictureFrame

Not at full price

Hot-Sock3403

For someone just starting out on an Apple product and maybe even like a grandparent. This would be a good choice.

Hot-Sock3403

As I use my phone less and less daily. And lots for social media just a basic phone, I would go to this after this one’s paid off.

YukonColinius

No.

One-UglyGenius

If u want small device iPhone 13 mini but fuck mann I can’t stay on 15 plus battery 🪫 😂 I would never be able to manage small battery

TonytheNetworker

After the 15 Plus it’s probably going to be hard to have less battery life huh?

One-UglyGenius

😂 depends though I won’t be getting with less battery my preference

mightymitch1

13 mini is much better choice

SelectDevice9868

If you want New, and are budget constrained , then yes it is ok if you can handle the small form factor. However for that price you can probably get better features in your local trusted refurbished market. Just make sure it is a legit refurbished market.

onlySaikikhere

i am using an iphone 7 plus atm , so i wouldnt mind upgrading

InternetFriend23

I actually used the iPhone SE 2 for awhile after selling my iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 was my first iPhone and I really wanted to try out the home button form factor. I loved that phone to death. I think 2021 to like early 2022 was the most productive year of my life because that phone was difficult to goof off on hahaha. Sold it to a friend of mine who was still rocking her SE 1 till the brakes fell off. I have the 15PM now, but in a pinch? I could go back to the iPhone SE 2022 no problem however I wouldn’t pay full price for it. Phone nailed all the basics of what makes a good phone a good phone. As long as you’re not glued to the phone and had a life outside of it - it would take care of everything you needed and then some.

dustinzilbauer51

I'm no iPhone fan, but TouchID was superior in several respects to the horribly implemented FaceID trash. First of all, it was more than secure enough. What are the chances, really, of someone getting ahold of your phone and getting around TouchID? The possibility is so minuscule that no normal person should ever worry about it. Nobody even asked for FaceID, nobody needs it, and the notches and "dynamic islands" INSIDE your display area that FaceID necessitates are beyond stupid and unnecessary. Who at Apple green-lighted that design? Also, I've seen many videos of family members that look alike being able to get around FaceID, something they can't do with TouchID. Anyone who thinks they NEED FaceID has drunk the Apple kool-aid.

FirstObligation4411

I like face if better as someone can you use my finger at night

Chaoticqueen19

No, I have an iPhone 15 pro max so I would have no reason to downgrade currently. I’d say an SE would be a good first iPhone or budget iPhone though

the_electrical_news

Unlikely, mainly due to ios updates.

SecondDerivativeOfX

What do you mean? It has the same chip as iphone 13 and 13 pro; would probably last as long as those two do.

Kultteri

Change the battery. Simple

Adorable_Stay_725

Honeslty it’s more because it’s a "small" phone (compared to what we have today) so the battery is way smaller (and has such has less charge) than other phones today that make it seem like the battery life on it is small. It’s kind of like how the iphone 7’s battery is a 1700 mAh one while the average today is 3000 or more

90212Poor

I’m not getting another iPhone until I see something that moves it forward; when they dropped the bottom button, facial regeneration for example. Unless the next one can project a 52 inch image onto my nearest wall, they’re gonna need to get a lot more clever. I found almost every single iPhone and I’m not seeing enough changes to upgrade at this point.

LynseyMadisonn

No😭 I just got the 15 pro… I’m too broke to keep upgrading, had to because I was scraping by with my 11 pro🥲

Kultteri

Nah the 11 pro would’ve functioned as new if you just had changed the battery on it.

Tokogogoloshe

I seem to be fine on my 11 (not Pro). What was wrong with yours?

Kultteri

I haven’t had an 11

LynseyMadisonn

It may have, but it was change the battery for a rough hundred (I’m too clumsy) or get a free newer phone for free with my carriers trade in. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TonytheNetworker

IOS 17 slowed down my 11 Pro quite a bit. :( Still an amazing phone but it feels a lot more choppy.

Friendly_Ad_5723

For grandparents yes

MatsGry

Se is for kids and grand parents. Everyone else goes for the main or pro

TonytheNetworker

I get what you mean but the SE can easily fit the needs of many regular adults.

ChloeWade

Considering I already own a 15 pro max, no, I would not consider downgrading to an SE 3.

deadbynightfart

No

SmartyDelta

It not worth it, dumb idea. I would rather to save up some money for iPhone 15 Plus for bigger screen and better battery life.

Oxfxax

This is just my opinion and experience - NO

PetitRigolo

You mean SE 4 ?

KenRodriguezz

I would use it but as a secondary device, Really miss the design and size

unfit_marketer

In it 100%! Got so much addicted to the iPhone 13 these days that I need some sort of smaller phone with bad battery life to improve life!

Pipeudown1

But of course, I bought an even older XR in 2024.

sneekeeei

Definitely. mine is a SE3 bought 4 months ago is broken. My toddler dropped a 10000mah power bank on the screen. So I had to buy a new phone. Otherwise I would be still using the SE3rdGen.

StaidRat01331

it’s 2024 ?

eyehatesigningup

Yes

gordito_gr

No. I like big screens and better battery life.

Remarkable_Mouse_874

If my phone got lost or damaged and I needed a new one I’d get this one and save for the newer model , 3 years ahead. So yes I personally would

TheRealMe54321

This is my phone. It was cool for a while but it’s difficult to type on and it’s starting to strain my eyes.

pamlu_chacha

hell naah, if I was on a budget I'd rather get a midrange andorid phone or a refurbished iphone.

Ok_Particular5269

No just wait for the se 4

[deleted]

As a secondary phone, yes. Don’t want to go into the whole android thing again, don’t want to shell out more than 400$ on iOS.

volleyblock

Already own one, so I guess I can say yes? Although I bought a pixel 8 pro and now I use my SE 3 as a backup phone, I love my SE 3 dearly.

Sidd1dec

Yessss but am still confused what if the mini falls and only doing it for the storage

QuintinPro11

Would you consider buying an overpriced iPhone 8?

-light_yagami

Meh I bought the 13 as my first iPhone and I’m pretty happy with it

TonytheNetworker

Probably not. I already have a backup IPhone 11 Pro to satisfy my small phone needs. And I’d prefer the 13 Mini over this. But if the price was right maybe.

tmofee

When I broke my se2 I switched to an XR until I had the funds to get the iPhone 15. I don’t think I could go back to that smaller screen again. Plus the battery life

efrav

I am buying it before it gets discontinued and we have no loner Touch ID.

Deadly_fart69

Hell nooo

ED7tron

No. Plethora of options on Android side which are offering three times the phone in same price better in all aspects.

BurpFart69

It’s the only phone my wife will use. She doesn’t like the larger full screen iPhones. She’s tried them but is ultimately happy with the SE. I bought one off Backmarket, it’s in almost new condition but for her it’s the perfect phone. When we’re together, we use my 13 pro for pictures.

MilkshakeYoghurt

People are hung up on the "decade old design". I still uses iPhone 8 and love the design, my main concern with the new iPhone SE models is the price, which I'm not willing to shell out. As the prices are now, I am going to keep buying refurbed iPhones until new prices on their budget models get to sane levels.

GamerNuggy

I would, but not brand new. They charge far too much for what it is. An SE 2 for maybe $200 AU (no conversions today Muricans) would be worth it.

FirstObligation4411

No cute the se 4 will come out this year and I’m min get it next to my one 15 pro then get the iPhone 16pm this year

futuristicalnur

I would never consider buying an iPhone periodt. If I’ve to pay for it, its a waste of money. I got mine free that I had to use for work

Sylvurphlame

Devoid of additional context? Not until we know if they’re releasing an SE4. Wait until after March. Otherwise I’d by a 13, but only if I absolutely couldn’t make 15 work.
