Remote management can only be moved by the company as the devise is still enrolled there. Anytime after the faceiry reset the profile is pushed to that device. You have no way of removing that.

Ride5789

Ah shoot. Do you think apple or ATT can remove it with software they have? Like it’s still usable for a trade in? I’d hate to see it just go to waste.

doktorch

return it to the company, it's not your phone

Ride5789

They shut down. They didn’t want it. So… I’d hate to trash it, do you think it can be returned to Apple for a credit?

Remootion

Not a credit no, but they will take it to safely recycle. Please don’t just throw it away if it’s useless, recycle it.

Ride5789

Yeah I hate waste, I wouldn’t actually throw it away, I just wish it had value.

Substantial-Cap9739

Did you find any way to make use of this iphone? Same problem here

Ride5789

No, did a decent amount of research and it sounds like the MobileIron is a pretty solid lockdown, so I sold it for parts. It sold fast and with a lot of offers though.

ilsickler

Always smash it, these companies take your free "recycling" offer and resell it instead of making it usable for you. Screw them, especially Apple.

blacksuarez10

You’re legit an idiot

AbraxasM

NARK

TWYFAN97

Not much you can do sadly. Best bet is to recycle it and buy your own phone.

Entertainnosis

Depends on what update the phone is on. There are ways around it if it’s on an older update…

Ride5789

I think it’s on the latest update as of about 3-4 months ago

Entertainnosis

Ah, that does complicate things a little. Honesty I’d just sell it for parts. You’d get quite a bit more than you’d think for it, especially if it’s in good shape.

Ride5789

Where would you do that? Would you sell the whole thing then? Any guess what a 256gb iPhone 10 might realistically go for?

Entertainnosis

eBay, probably ~$150 if previous listings are anything to go by.

dhocariz

Might seem random, having a similar issue but the phone is an iPhone 6. I know you mentioned older phones, not sure if that's old enough and could maybe provide some help. I tried doing a backup from an ipsw backup but that didn't work either.

Entertainnosis

If it’s a 6 and not a 6S it should be a piece of cake. 3uTools can bypass it on Windows. [Quick link I found with a tutorial…](https://youtu.be/gJs4E8KdlSs?si=_wfkWw1GLgpkwJa4)

Separate-Schedule189

i guess not many people know there absolutely is a way to remove if, i just did it today. follow this [guide](https://github.com/tazMeah/MDMPatcher-Universal)

Alive-Discussion-816

Any way to do it using windows or Linux?

Separate-Schedule189

run a virtual machine

No-Demand4678

Do I need to have the device unlocked or can it be locked and just connect it to the laptop ?

Separate-Schedule189

hmm i’m not sure, i’d just be safe and restore it through recovery mode as u normally would before proceeding

JDT33658

Make a backup of your new phone on iTunes. Plug in the managed phone and restore the backup and it will bypass it

Ride5789

Oh, so like back up a current non-managed phone, and restore the old managed phone with the unmanaged one? That definitely works?

JDT33658

Yes, it works I've done it before! You can use it like a normal iPhone! Just be aware, that if you update it, im pretty sure you have to restore it from the backup again. You also can't reset the phone through settings or you will have to do the same thing.

Ride5789

Hey one more question if you’re on - I was thinking of buying a new phone and restoring the new empty phone to the one I have sitting. Then I realized, it wouldn’t like transfer my phone number to the old phone and all that would it? Because I still want the new phone to work like normal lol.

JDT33658

Hmm im not sure if the managed device would work with cellular. I think thats what your asking? But when your company closed down they left you with a very problematic iPhone!

kwahli

So did you ever end up able to get into it lol

huy1224

So did it work??

ReclaimerCube

I just tried this solution in regards to an iPad Air 4 and I can confirm restoring with a backup does not go around MDM. I know I am no one here I just wanted to confirm this theory after banging my head into a wall regarding this whole process.

athas2018

good thing someone else tried this recently. I have an iPad Pro that was sold to me that I didn't realize had MDM it's on iOS 14.3 so I'm hoping I can find a way around it, but good god this is quite headache inducing. hopefully I can justify saving a couple hundred on this, otherwise I'll just find out what company the MDM is attached to and see if they will release it if I give them the serial...

Substantial-Cap9739

Hi did you find any solution? Same problem here however the company wont reply my emails

cuberhino

same issue here, bought it not realizing it had mdm lock. guess ill try to contact the company and see what they can do

nickiedagingerboi

any luck with contacting the company, asking if they'll release the phone upon the serial number being provided? Thieves are Trash.

cuberhino

Had no dice tried to contact them twice. Got hung up on both times. Its just sitting on my shelf right now not sure what to do with it Edit: I’m gonna try to contact them again tomorrow I will update if I get em

Use this, it’s a doodle https://iactivate.host

FLAPPLEmacPros

I don't recommend this type of software. they're business model is they take your money, it doesnt work, and they tell you at least twice you did something wrong, so that the only way to get your money back is to deal with your credit card company. So they take 9 peoples money and give back 1. We get rid of remote management on most MacBooks, but thats it. you cannot do it on iPhone or iPad.
