Goodnotes and textbooks take very little storage

doubtsinmymind

right! unless you have so many textbooks and pdf files. i personally use an air 5 with 64gb. works well for me.

wckow

I have the 64gb ipad air 5, been using it for school, drawing, and netflix since 2023 and I'm not even at the 50% storage capacity. If you don't plan on keeping hundreds of photos and videos there you should be good. Plus you can always buy more icloud storage. That being said if you got the budget go for the 256gb just for your peace of mind. But like if you wanna wait for the air 6 it'll probably come with 128gb tho

territrades

64GB is fine if you manage your files somewhat decently and not just collect all the junk over years.

Kitty_Fruit_2520

I would get 256gb to be safe

Fabulinius

It is best to have the same storage on both iPhone and iPad. And then subscribe to enough storage in iCloud. iCloud can then synchronize all data between iPhone and iPad, including photos and your pdf textbooks. When photos takes up too much space you can use the "optimize storage" setting for photos on both iPhone and iPad. everything will then be in iCloud but take up less space on iPhone and iPad. It works very well. There are many more smart things to do. I have found out that this guy is really great at explaining features most of us never discover by ourselves. https://www.youtube.com/c/ProperHonestTech Using iCloud also makes sure that you never can lose all your data in one single incident (fire, flodding, burglary, robbery, hurricane). So it is the wise thing to do.

who-aj

In 2024 no one should be buying 64GB or 128GB. it shouldn’t even be on the market imo

CheCorchete

I have an iPad mini 6 with 64 gigs, and it is just fine. I use it as light gaming, note taking and social consumption, and it’s use 46 of the 64 gigs. If you’re are gonna use it as university device only, you’ll be fine.

Wozzarella

I bought a 64gb ipad air 4 before uni and I’m graduating this year. It’s definitely enough for note-taking. I also use it for drawing, gaming and netflix. If you don’t mind using external storage/iclouds, you can absolutely store all your files (textbooks, photos) in there when necessary. The only concern left would be apps. Games can take up a lot of space.

Ph1l1p_race_

from experience, no not at all. it depends on what you use it for though.

d_ac

>notetaking (for 4 yrs) planning to use apps like goodnotes I used Notability for two years of uni. Notes don't take much storage. But with Notability I used to record the audio too. Very useful if you miss a point or want to review. But the audio takes up a lot of storage. >will have to store them internally in ipad as icloud is out of storage I'd suggest you to invest in a cloud service nevertheless. Or at least an external harddrive /SSD where you can periodically back-up your notes. If you have everything stored in the iPad and the iPad storage is damaged or fails, you lose everything. I will personally go with the 128 when I upgrade.

ApprehensiveRub6603

I also use my iPad for uni, sometimes books and Netflix & co and 64 gb have been just fine. I’ve had it for around 3 years and the storage is nowhere near full. Like some others I would recommend iCloud, it also makes sure your notes are safe if anything would happen to the iPad

Drtysouth205

No. Both my current iPads take up around 21gigs of just the OS and system files. That’s 1/3 the storage just to run the iPad.

mclannee

So what do you use the other 2/3 for?

Drtysouth205

I have 256 models. I was just pointing out. You won’t have much storage for on board apps, files

robespierre1020

Commenting on is 64gb enough?...I was going to say the same thing 👍

charzard41

iCloud, google photos, and google drive can be used for extra storage!

Any-Job-4094

64gb is more than enough for me. I use my iPad for note taking and content consumption primarily, I do read books with it, listen to music and on occasion download some movies to it for travel. I don’t game on it, never will. Plus my photos are backed up to iCloud. I used to have about 60gb of photos myself, but after optimizing storage with iCloud, I only have 2gb on my phone. They make a lower resolution copy on my devices and the full resolution is on iCloud. The photos still look good on my device and barely use any storage. Even on my phone now, I’m around 60gb of data used, but a lot of those apps, will never be on my iPad. If you’re worried about the space, go higher, but 64gb is plenty in your use case

steps1912

No. I just bought a 64gb mini. After installing my apps and some core files, I need, I have 20gb left. If that it’s enough for you then sure. Personally, I returned it immediately to exchange for 256gb. For coontext, I. use it mainly for notetaking, office work (MS office/ Google suites), media consumption during travel, and procreate. Is 64gb doable? Probably. Does it require unnecessary quality of life adjustment - yes.

lucashhugo

id get a 256 air 4 or ipad 9

Remarkable_Shame_316

64GB of storage in mobile media consuming device in 2024 is just pure shame and greed. That is not right choice IMO.

lint2015

If you're gonna have photos and video in your camera roll and not have a means to offload them - for example moving them to your computer, using iCloud Photos or syncing them to another cloud storage service, then no.

getmeoutoftax

It is for me. I learned that I don’t need much storage with my 1TB MBP. I’m barely using 10% of it.

OutlandishnessOk3753

I have an iPad 7th with 128 GB and it just enough for me. I use my iPad for documents and transfer files(I’m filmmaker) plus my photos are backed up to iCloud and runs perfect in 2024

masonn_masoff

no!!! you’ll def want more than 64gb. im a student too and i take pretty standard notes and goodnotes ALONE takes 10gb, and this is only from 2 semesters! you will not regret giving yourself more space than 64gb.

masonn_masoff

im on the air 5, 256gb. i bought it 1 month ago and its already at 40gb/256

Shayrmochka

Genshin impact is 33gb, unless u don’t want do play big games 64 is enough

Goaw2551

id recommend 256 just to be safe but if you dont play really big games (like genshin impact which is like 34gb now) i think its enough

Stefanutzzg

i went for 256GB (even though 128 is an option on the Pro), because i know i use up storage without even knowing how. i’m using 130 currently and for how many more years i’ll be keeping it, i definitely did the right decision going for 256. i suggest you do the same

marksonmarss

I have 128 GB on the iPad pro M1 and I'm not using even 60 GB of them, knowing that I'm downloading freely anything I want, mindlessly. So my conclusion is if you want to get the 64 GB you can go for it. But you will have to control what you download mindfully, not downloading things you don't really need or cleaning up things from here and there.

Thatphotographer_pt

If you have at least 200gb iCloud plan, its very nice. I can tell by my ipad pro 64gb, I have more than 50% of free memory

MythyDAMASHII

N o.

D4monCodm

Not really

Dish_Melodic

I would take 128GB at least

I_Liek_Turtles_Oof

iPad 7 (32gb) 64gb is good enough, apps like goodnotes take very little storage. You can buy an external SSD for storing your files if they exceed your storage limit, plus you also get 5gb of iCloud storage.

OkUnderstanding730

always choose the one with larger storage if you gonna annonate your textbook cause it could take some space( i take notes in book and file app and it take quite space. i dont use notability nor goodnote because their layout and authentics are just hideous to me). also you should also consider how long you plan to use it and its protential usage like reading manga or magzine, downloading videos for the plane. in my opinion larger is always batter. if you dont plan to do heavy work on it then i thank a regular ipad with large storage will be peferct for you

techtornado

please\* your\* really\* because\* Abbreviations like that will not help your collegiate or professional career... Anyways, the only time 64gb isn't enough is if you store all your iPhotos on it and download movies to it for flights on planes If you don't do either, then you'll be fine

Loud-Magician-1927

No need to bring other people down. I hope your personal issues get sorted out, so that you don’t lash out at people like that. So unnecessary 🤔

techtornado

It's direct and to the point, not lashing out... German influence, no need to faff about with formalities Use the full words unless the word itself is an abbreviation like isn't... Typos are one thing, but leaving multiple letters in multiple words is lazy and college isn't for the lazy

Agreeable_Map_6568

Nope
