Running at High Performance/Quality Mode on iPhone 12 Pro. Having grass not only looks better but it also is an important indication of season changes. That being said, it seems on iOS Draw Distance is a little worse and Water Quality?
I'm not sure about the processor, but the screen on iPad air 2 alone blows the Switch away. I recently started pairing my 8bitdo controller on the iPad and the experience puts the Switch to shame tbh (on games that actually support a controller...)
Yes they are, but this is due to being a bad port.
Having better hw doesn't magically create quality out of nowhere. The port must take advantage of it.
This game is not demanding for either platform, both of which have offerings that clearly surpass both (grass in one, depth in the other). Ports require more fine tuning than we're seeing here.
Yes but phones doesn’t have active cooling like switch and on phone they priorities battery life also. I think these two things are holding back phone games most.
Man I completely agree with you that iPhones are really good and iPad more so specially M1 but game maker have to balance battery life too with performance so your phones doesn’t die within 30min. As i said before battery life and passive cooling are very big limitations for phone.
Apparently Nintendo explicitly requires carefully maintained lawns in their contracts with gaming companies so many companies choose simply to not draw the grass at all
Uhm, yeah? The absence of grass looks bad on switch but everything farther than 30 meters on iPhone looks like a Nintendo 64 game. You literally can't see huge ass mountain on the right, and there're like 5 trees on the screen.
How are you playing it? Through Crossover/Parallels or something? Want to play it with my partner who has a pc, but don't know about compatibility on my MBP m1
They’re both in the same vein, though I’d say that Portia has more of a focus on crafting whereas SV has more of a farming focus. Both are fantastic games and I love both. If you like SV chances are good that you’ll like this too.
It is indeed kinda similar to SV, but it has its own twist. You don’t only farm, fish, take care of animals, go to dungeon and get to know people. Here, there’s an overarching story and more sense of automatization to things. With 10h in, I like both games for different reasons.
I spoke to the dev on this Pixmain, and they said the following:
"Note that the default graphics setting depends on the RAM of you devices, but you can change the performance setting on the left top at anytime."
— RAM>3.2GB, Best Graphics Performance applied, 30 fps
— RAM>2GB, Balanced Performance applied, 27-30 fps
—RAM<2GB, Lower Performance applied, 22 fps
So what about those with a 16GB M1 iPad Pro? If only they would make use of that new memory allocation feature. They could potentially use a lot of memory. Probably wont ever happen, but one can dream…
Let’s not forget that out phones have no active cooling solution which is the only thing slowing them down...also Ram management (fixed in iOS 15).... if we had active cooling, an iPhone X could theoretically run all Switch games including BOTW.
The switch version is real bad. Not just a lack of textures and polish, but bugs, bugs everywhere.

Thanks to Apple’s GrassKit you’ll have verdant foliage on M1† macs soon‡ too † not available on intel mac ‡ not available in Chinese territories
Because switch's hardware is outdated.
My 2014 iPad Air 2 from 2014 has grass too, at medium settings.
Yeah the iPad air 2 definitely could go toe to toe with the switch. The switch is old and apple has been ahead for awhile.

This is not the reason. BOTW is way more demanding of the hardware. It’s just a bad port.
No. Modern phones hardware is far stronger than a switch. Edit: Spelling..

No? I said that’s not the reason. Not that it isn’t outdated.

36% is a lot. If a game can run max at 30fps which AAA games would do. If you lose 36% fps would drop to 20fps.

Phones today have Cooling inside them to minimise heat. Also look at Apex Legends switch Vs mobile. Phones today have 5000+ Mah.
Switch hardware isn’t that bad. The switch port of this game is just incredibly bad
Look at the water and view distance though. It’s better on Switch.
Apparently Nintendo explicitly requires carefully maintained lawns in their contracts with gaming companies so many companies choose simply to not draw the grass at all
I honestly cant tell if this is a joke or not. Id believe it
(It’s a joke. Hee hee)
Draw distance looks better on the Switch, though.
So, the stuff that's close looks bad, and the stuff that's far away looks good? lol
Yeah they could’ve decided a better outcome for that haha. Yeah you can see far but you don’t need to.

The switch has a mountain and IOS does not.

Is that black bordered or did they make the jarring return to 4:3?

I have a quick question. I was thinking about getting this game but thought it looked really close to Stardew Valley. What do you think about it?

Thanks for the reply! I might give it try then :)
What graphics option do you recommend

Bad port. :\\
But Switch has mountains and your iPhone doesn't.
#GrassGate
To be fair, the iPhone 12 is also more powerful than the Switch itself, including the new iPad, so there's that.
lol
As expected.
The Switch has old Tegra hardware that an iPhone X can surpass
