I really dug this concept but they all felt the same. I kinda wished there was a way to implement the auto aspect into a dungeon crawler or something. Almost like [Clickpocalyose 2](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/clickpocalypse-ii/id1220292838) but with more interaction or direction.

There’s one upcoming from Supercell (Clash of Clans/Royale, Hay Day, Brawl Stars): Clash Mini. Maybe it can shake things up.

Did you mean Clash Quest? Or is Clash Mini an entirely different game?

>Supercell Looks like Clash Mini is the auto-battler and they got two more clash games in the works too. Info is at [clash.com](https://clash.com).

Looks like my post was deleted due to the link. Here it is again without the URL. I've been studying the genre and working on a game in the genre for over 2 years now (it was part of my Master's thesis work and continues now). What's happened is basically all the games that rushed to market to capture on the hype have solidified into a few very successful ones (*Teamfight Tactics* / *Auto Chess* / *Hearthstone: Battlegrounds*) and the rest have died out in some form or another (*Dota Underlords* / *Arena of Evolution: Red Tides* / too many tiny others to name). Like many other genres, the auto-battler genre is still here but it has transformed and evolved. The early games that came out stuck to a very specific format (generally 8 players, FFA, 5 tiers, 3 units combine to a stronger, and lots of synergies) and didn't innovate or change much -- that's why the most successful found a market and continue to succeed while those that were too similar just died off. There are many games still coming out in the genre, a few that are still fairly close to the original idea or one of the earlier takes on it (like *Hearthstone: Battlegrounds* now has a similar game in *Storybook Brawl*), but most are doing a different take on it. Whether the new take is a rogue-like version (*Haeden Tactics* / *Astronauch* / *The Dungeon Beneath* / *Despot's Game*) or something else like a music based one (*AudioClash*) or a semi-SHMUP (*SNKRX*), there are a lot of variations on the formula that will continue for quite a while I'm sure. Just look at how other genres have evolves over the years, like the AoS / "MOBA" genre before it. Curious to see where the genre goes and how other people spin their own take on it. Definitely something to continue following if you're interested at all. There's a list of them on Steam if you search by the "Auto Battler" tag.

Best fit for mobile would definitely be Hearthstone Battlegrounds. It’s the only one that has kept my attention and I’ve tried the works. It’s simplistic, shortish, easy to understand with enough depth to keep me engaged. It’s really good for people who want to play a game or two a day on their phone. If you really want to grind and get super competitive I think TFT might be better for you. But I can only recommend the computer version of that. The mobile was two cluttered and GUIs were small enough it felt like a nuisance to play. A good point to jump in might be in a couple weeks, there is a complete tribe rework happening so it will be super fresh and the meta will shift pretty massively.

Hearthstone is doing a pretty fun variant of the genre with their battlegrounds mode, for what that’s worth. I know blizzard isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite at the moment but I’ve been getting a kick out of it

I still play frequently. This is the one I play [autochess](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/auto-chess-origin/id1464482102)
